Captain Hooks was a place that I found through yelp reviews. They were rated pretty high. I had a taste for some chicken wings so I decided to stop in one afternoon to try them out. Once I arrived, they immediately took my order and I had a small wait for my food. I like the fact that they fry them immediately while you there instead of getting some that were under the light. I tried the wings. It was seasoned exceptionally well and I had one catfish fillet. The catfish was OK but the batter didn't adhere to the fish in some areas so I took one star off for that. I will definitely go back and try them again, maybe even some of the shrimp that they had.

Being a Milwaukee native, discovering this restaurant instantly brought joy to my heart. This is my favorite place to go and get fried chicken and I hadn't had pizza puffs since I was a kid. When my family wants fried chicken, they mean they want Captain Hooks, and we make the 30 minute drive. It's worth it every time.

I have been patronizing Captain Hooks for years. I used to have a out the food and service.. until yesterday. I called to order a livers and gizzards plate. I get there to pick up my food and when I arrived home, this is what I saw. Burnt, old food. The food, including the fries looked like they were cooked in 6 week old oil. The young lady at the counter, while she was polite to me, was rude to other customers. Captain Hooks have lost a loyal customer. Instead of focusing on opening more restaurants, focus on the loyal customers you have had for years.

My wife is currently on a dairy-free diet and wings w/o dairy batter is hard to come by. I was targeted by Captain Hooks on social media and I figure I give them a call to ask about their ingredients. They assured me multiple times the wings are dairy free so I went ahead an ordered. Wings were a hit! No issues with my wife's allergies...win all around! I ordered the 25 wing platter , which comes with fries and Hook's sauce on the side. The wings are excellent tasting, great seasoning and crispy! The fries are just ok but I'm not really there for the fries. The hooks dipping sauce is mayo/thousand island/pepper based - similar looks to like a Raising Caine's sauce...it was excellent! Will be back again and again!

After seeing g this on instagram for weeks I decided to give this a try. I went around 4 and the place was empty which made it easy to place my order and get my food swiftly. The gentlemen were very friendly and accommodating by going over the menu and making sure I got the best option. I got 2 fish and 3 whole wings which is a win in my book without a drink for $15. I was expecting a lot of flavor and sadly it was not, the flavor exists in the skin of the chicken and fish and that's where it stays. The fries were also not the most appetizing, just nubs. Maybe it's my pallet but it wasn't in the cards for me. Give it a try for yourself and make your decision.

I've been wanting to try this place and in my day off my friend and I went. If you have a large group, be aware there is limited seating. This is more of a to-go place. I ordered the 10 wings which are whole wings with fries and bread for $17. My friend and her daughter got the 2 fish filets with 10 shrimp and fried okra. Her daughter got a hamburger with corn hush puppies. Everything was fried well, fresh, and well seasoned. I really liked the orange sauce they had. They had several sauce options. Will definitely be back. The staff was friendly and the turnaround wasn't too bad because they cook it fresh.

My husband and I try this place for the first time yesterday. It had been on my list for a while. Everything was so delicious. When I say seasoned. Everything was seasoned to perfection and fried fresh. We got a plate that had six whole wings and 10 shrimp. It came with fries and bread. I think the shrimp were a little on the small side but that would be my only complaint. I didn't realize I needed a side of hush puppies. They have two different styles to choose from. They have a sweet corn version and an onion version. We got the onion version and they were delicious. They have a lot of different sauces to choose from as well. We got tartar cocktail and their special house sauce which was really good. We also tried their mild sauce but did not care for that one. We will be back.

I have to say, this is the second time I've been here. Chicken Livers are great, the amount, taste and price are great! The manager also included some oysters(redemption move) last time they were less than par, today was a completely different story, they were fantastic. He said he started using a different vendor. This lovely establishment is nestled at the end of a small shopping center. It is modern, and very clean! The food is made fresh, right after you order it! The catfish was fried beautifully. The outside was crisp and the inside the fish was flaky and moist. The catfish did NOT taste pond scummy like most other places. Seasoned beautifully with a dash of lemon pepper for the finishing touch, adds a nice citrus twist to a southern classic. The shrimp are large and fried until golden brown. Cleaned, de-veined, and delightful. The secret sauce goes wonderfully with the fish, and fries! Put it on all of your food and you won't be disappointed with how it compliments the fresh fish. This is an order to go place. They have 4 tables but mostly people sitting waiting for their orders to go. The food was very salty and not very good. Not sure how this place gets so many stars, but for us it was a little dirty and bad. Of course, if you don't care how the food tastes and just need a lot of food for a reasonable price then this is your place, but don't expect anything but salt. read more

This was our second time here and the food is always great! The wings are full size and the catfish was really tasty. Today we had the tenders platter and i shared the gizzards and livers with my son and its so much food that we still have some leftover! Baby listen this is some of the best lemon pepper chicken ever. I was thinking maybe they had one bad dish on the menu and I've yet to find it. Even the hush puppies were flavored right and they have 2 different kinds. I feel this place is affordable, the owner made my food, he was friendly, and my food is always FRESH! They never disappoint me. From Chicago it's much like Detroit and I'll forever visit this spot at least twice a week. Quick, affordable, good, and FRESH! read more

Food was bomb! Service was great! Really felt welcome when we walked in. My brother and I were skeptical about it at first because there's not many places in Katy that have good food. My first visit and was very impressed I never really found a place that had great tasting chicken wings and gizzards near my area. I've tried various places in the area, but never satisfied. Either they were too expensive for serving size or the taste wasn't the same on the next visit. I searched for places near by for gizzards and found one place and their gizzards was not seasoned and dry. I settled for chicken at one place, but there wings never really hit the spot and taste nothing like the original restaurant on the other side of town. Never went back. Captain Hook's will be seeing me again. There wings, fish and gizzards was fried crispy and tasty the Southern way. Don't get me wrong there are places that has great chicken, but they all are 15-20 miles away. If you love whole chicken wings like I do, try out Captain Hook's to deceive for yourself. I had heard about this place online from a pop up or something. A few days later someone posted on a social media outlet and I had to check it out. I am so glad I did. The person the owner has working for him is rude and does not need to be customer service. The company gives a nice portion of food. It's so much you can't close the container. I asked for a extra container to close my food. The gay that cook came up front and wouldn't give me a container nor did he offer me a bag. As I was asking him how would he feel walking out with open food. He throws up his hands and say i ain't got time for this. I ask him when was the owner coming in he ignore every question i asked concerning the owner. As long as he's working at the business they won't be getting my business. read more

Well I finally tried this place out and I wasn't impressed. The staff were really friendly and nice. I didn't like the taste of bad burn grease in the chicken and chicken liver. The seasoning on the chicken tastes pretty good, but the old grease made it not enjoyable. Also the fries were horrible and cheap! I had to put some on when I got home. I also tried the catfish out, nice crisp crust, but no taste of dirty catfish flavor. I probably will not return since the place is not close to home. I drove 25 mins to try this place out, with the reviews they had on here. read more

Rule number 1 never go to a restaurant when it is close to closing time. The chicken was hard and over cooked, the fish was too salty and the fries could have broke one of my teeth. When I called my order in they said it will take 25 minutes to prepare. Not sure what was prepared everything was disgusting. I hate I wasted $30 something dollars on food you take home and couldn't enjoy. read more

Worked there for a few months and it was decent until it wasn't. Not only did the owner use the n word (and was comfortable saying it ), but an employee there ( Jesus) used the n word as well. I felt disgusted, uncomfortable, and disrespected as a black person. I know the customers are mainly black, therefore I would advise you to patronize black businesses and support your community because at the end of the day these are the slurs being said behind closed doors when dealing with these non-black owned businesses. read more
