I should've questioned it when I saw it was in a gas station, but I didn't want to judge a book by its cover. I ordered through DoorDash after seeing the reviews, and decided to get the oxtail plate with Mac and cheese, dirty rice and mashed potatoes. The oxtails were okay, I didn't care for the taste. I make better oxtails at home. They definitely didn't give soul food style oxtails. The mashed potatoes had no taste, very bland and the dirty rice tasted like jambalaya rice out of a box. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy that's all I tasted was cheese and no seasoning. The only good thing was the cornbread which was really soft and savory. Solid option for local soul food! Portions were fair/generous, overall decent menu and fast service. I got the oxtail plate with corn bread. The sides were pretty good, the cornbread was excellent; Oxtails were very tender, fall-off-the bone and you can tell they were cooked with patience, However, they were a little bland and I had to add salt. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the customer service here was disappointing enough to warrant one. I came in to pick up my order, which was clearly ready and sitting on the counter. An employee made direct eye contact with me, but instead of acknowledging me or handing me my food, they walked away and left me standing there. I waited several more minutes while my food sat getting cold in plain sight. No explanation, no "I'll be right with you"--just silence and disregard. It's frustrating when such a simple interaction is made difficult due to lack of basic courtesy. I understand places get busy, but acknowledging customers and handing over ready food shouldn't be too much to ask. Hopefully they address this kind of service moving forward. read more

Let's start off with the fact that I ordered on door dash and requested crispy wings and for the first time ever a restaurant called me and confirmed my order and walked me through the cooking process so I wouldn't be disappointed with my order. I ordered the nose job spicy with Mac and cheese and dirty rice! They from Chicago and use a certain type of pepper and seasonings that's truly Chicago born and bread but the wings were soooooo tender they slid off the bone. It melted in your mouth. That Mac and cheese made me actually call them back and cuss them out cause why is it so good! Definitely check this place out! The manager was sooooo sweet and wonderful! She offers happy hour options between 1-3 pm and when I tell you it's soooo worth it. Can't wait to get the oxtails and more jerk wings. I got 8 huge jerk wings, a good scoop of Mac and rice and a dinner roll and the price was more than worth it! Please definitely support this business. First and foremost the service was amazing. I think the owner assisted me. Great conversation and my order was correct. I ordered when I arrived and it took about 10mins. It is in a gas station but it did not take away from my experience at all. These sisters got a good thing going. I will say there are a few areas for improvement and the owner stated she was open to reviews. I got the jerk wings with Mac and Cheese and Dirty Rice. The baked jerk wings were ok. They did lack some flavor. They had the heat but needed some more flavor under the skin. Now they were cooked perfectly and the meat fell off the bone. I think brining the chicken overnight would really help with the flavor. Also, broiling the chicken at the end of cooking would improve the texture. I am assuming the chicken is sitting in the juice it created while baking. I'd recommend taking it out of that and broiling it for a few minutes to create that charred flavor and texture. I think the jerk paste was jarred which is completely fine. But you still have to add some salt to that to give it more flavor. Maybe even add a jerk sauce to go with the wings as a side sauce. I saw comments about the dirty rice and I didn't mind it at all. It may be boxed but she added some hot peppers to it and cooked it perfectly. I liked it. The star of the meal was the Mac and Cheese. Nice texture, color, and flavor. No notes at all. Definitely was the stand out of the plate. I didn't mind the dinner roll either!!! Lastly, the pineapple upside down cake was delicious. It was a nice portion, dense but still fluffy, and had a great flavor. Overall I liked this place and would give it another try. Keep going sisters , you all are doing amazing!!! It was OK but nowhere near worth 30$ for a small to go container and nothing else. It was thin and hardly any meat. Plus it comes with garlic bread, which they were out of. I had to go back and ask to be told they were out before I was offered a substitute of rolls. Second, the jerk wings. So bad my husband wouldn't eat them.
