Food here is consistently tasty. Very nice cozy atmosphere. Drinks are excellent especially seasonal pumpkin espresso martini! Our waitress for my friends birthday was sweet and accommodated our large group with professionalism and kindness.
We attended the 2nd dinner show. We were surprised how lovely the room looked. A throwback what may have been in the fifties and sixties when this style was popular. The band was great. The performance was exceptional. We sang along, heard all the popular tunes from the original entertainer's large portfolio. The group was very interactive with the audience. The food was delicious. No one at the table finished their meal, as it was so big! We are planning on taking some of our older relatives to an afternoon show soon. And the show is free! The menu is the same as if you eat upstairs in the restaurant. Very very reasonable prices. Go. Go. Go.
I was skeptical as the Yelp reviews don't reflect Capo in the best light...but you know what? I had a generally great experience. We came for Wednesday night bingo in the supper club. Bingo was a total blast (even though I didn't come close to winning--not even once). On Wednesdays they also do bottomless pasta...which allegedly is only allowed upstairs. So I had chicken piccata and my bf had bottomless pasta (hope no one gets in trouble) The portion of chicken piccata was large and it was delicious. I would 100% come back for the chicken piccata. I obviously tasted each of the pastas my bf ordered. The pasta itself is homemade and fabulous. Some of the sauces were over seasoned. Overall, a great way to try a little of everything and a great deal. I used to go to Olive Garden in college for the never ending pasta bowl and this feels like the grownup version. The service was extremely slow. But we were playing bingo (which started late). It goes to show that if you offer the proper distraction, certain service factors become less important! We arrived right at 6:30 and no one was there. The basement filled up over the next 30 min. It was dark, but just a fun and chill vibe. Im looking forward to going back.
So pleasantly surprised with Capo! I've know Capo for being a fun bar to go out at, but this is the first time I've been able to try the food. As a sister restaurant to Prima I had high expectations and it definitely met those expectations. We tried three apps the calamari, honeybuns, and Arancini. They were all very good, a must is the arancini and the honeybuns they were delish. The Calamari breading was fantastic but the calamari itself was a little chewy. Our mains were all very good I had the salmon and it was such a unique flavor I really loved it. The penne al la vodka was also excellent one of the best I've had in boston, top it with Burrata. The chicken Marsala was huge, it was delish, but I definitely don't think you need pasta with it, it didn't really add anything. Overall great dinner!
You must go for their Sinatra Sunday! They have a great band performing from 5:30 to 8 in their downstairs area. It is a bit tight in there, especially if you are closer to the front, but it's a very lively space. Our server was very nice and as attentive as she could be with a packed house, but service dipped a bit as the night went on. The show had ended, and we had to wait another 20 minutes and hunt down our server to pay and be able to leave. The food, however, was delicious. I had the sausage cavatelli, and shared their calamari and bruschetta and really enjoyed it. I also liked their Rosato Spritz
Super cute restaurant with delectable food. I had the spicy lobster linguine and wish I could have it again! We also got a side of carrots and beets which were seasoned well and cooked to the perfect texture. The decor and ambiance make it a great spot for date night, though it does lean a bit on the noisier side.
Service and ambiance were great! Nice environment with great food and drinks. Loves the vodka alla penne.
Great Italian spot in Southie. You Definitely get a experience depending on the time of day you go, for example us on a Saturday night and it was packed line out the door filled your typical southie resident. To the service, waitress was super kind warning us food was taking a bit long that night, but there was hardly a noticeable delay in anything. Drinks at the table were a hit especially the espresso martinis. Garlic bread was great just wish had a second portion, and the calimari tasted fresh, interested fry to it but we all liked it. The biggest hit was the chicken parm, subbed for a spicy vodka sauce. Huge portion almost covered the plate, that they served the pasta on a second plate. Pasta was good, cooked al dente if that's your thing. Great atmosphere, love the looked and aesthetic. If I were to go back definitely would do a different time of day
Buono! A beautiful Italian restaurant in Southie. Whoever designed this place did an excellent job with the mosaic tile floors, light fixtures and wood work to give it a modern "Al Capone era" vibe. My husband and I came here for an early dinner with friends. We started with calamari and meatballs. The calamari was fried in a very unique batter that I was not a fan of but everyone else at the table liked it. But I was a fan of the meatballs; large, soft and swimming in a delicious sauce! For my entree, I ordered the cacio e pepe. I always prefer long pasta over short, but this one was great regardless. My only complaint is I wish the portion size was bigger as I licked my plate clean! My husband ordered a pasta dish with something called "Sunday gravy" and it was phenomenal! I took one bite and immediately regretted not ordering the same thing! We will definitely be back :)
Well. What a monumental failure tonight at Capo restaurant from our 5 star experience recently at their downstairs Supper Club. It was that experience that led me to suggest that we should dine upstairs to enjoy the same fine dining. The atmosphere was great. Lots of seating possibilities... we asked for a booth that had a table that didn't move, so we both narrowly slid in and just barely made it. Our waitress (Erin B) was quick to greet us and my wife had a chance to chat with the GM (Mike) prior to our ordering as she had met him at the Supper Club event a few Sundays ago. For a beverage, I ordered an Old Fashioned and my wife wanted a double Espresso. Decent, not great. My wife wanted to try some apps so she ordered two different from our last trip. Arancini and Chicken croquettes. Nicely presented but overcooked and not very hot upon arrival. Hmmm. So, they are known, and we were very much looking forward to the homemade pasta all made in house. Erin returned to take our Entree order. My wife (Italian) ordered "Clam scampi over linguine" and I spotted a new item we were told, a broiled Duck Breast with carrots, broiled potatoes and beets along with a side of pasta (spaghetti) with a butter sauce. Felt like a solid set of choices. As folks started arriving at 6-6:30, my wife mentioned that "doesn't it feel like a while since we ordered". I had my iPhone on the table taking pictures and noticed it was 25 minutes since we ordered. I was feeling like a Red Flag might be at work and caught Erin to check on our order. Within minutes later the food arrived. My wife started and I looked at my plate and the side order of pasta and everything was not hot, not warm and, the butter had solidified on my pasta. The duck was sliced poorly, but room temperature along with the pasta. Erin saw that I was having an issue and quickly offered to take it back in the kitchen for a fix. While I waited, my wife noted that hers was barely lukewarm but she continued. Both the duck and the pasta came back to the table and, it was only lukewarm at best. Erin noted that on Sunday, the head chef heads to the Supper Club to oversee the dinners being delivered and that his replacement was on duty. And she told us that others were sending food back. A floor manager came over asking if he could make it right and I agreed. He returned 5 minutes later and said "Chef just put my order in the 800 degree pizza oven??? What??? And I looked at the with great distain and burned my two fingers on the damn hot plate moving it closer. The duck and pasta were now burnt to shit. I was DONE NOW, having lost my appetite. I asked Erin to take it away (sorry no pictures of this since I was occupied trying to get a decent meal) and asked her to please get me a glass of Pinot and the dessert menu. My wife only had, maybe a third of her plate and I asked her what she thought about the dish... "maybe a 7, at best she said" and had no interest in eating any further. She wanted to leave. Erin felt really bad about our experience... suggesting that we come back "during the week days"!!!????? What???? The GM comped our (my) drinks and we had a $66 tab. Erin was great, left her a generous cash tip and squeezed our way out. The place was rocking as we left with people waiting to be seated and a HUGE take out service going on. So... don't go there on Sundays. Maybe we'll go back. A big maybe. Or try their sister restaurant "Capri" located in a different part of Boston. It's been over a decade since I sent my food back. It was a very bad experience. Try the Supper Club... that's where the best food is served on Sundays. Sadly... and still hungry tonight but some great leftovers in the fridge to heat up!!!
I really like Capo - the food is consistently delicious every time I go, this time was a little different. We got the Sicilian Oregano Ciabatta to start - I will say that this normally comes out better, the basil pesto was just straight grinded up basil with no real flavor (it used to come with a chickpea dip that was amazing) so that was a bit disappointing. We also got the meatball appetizer which was good but nothing to write home about. I will start with the Shortrib Alfredo Casacrecce - I enjoyed the Alfredo sauce but the short rib was just one piece on top, I would have preferred it more incorporated in the dish. Then we got the Rigatoni Bolognese which you can never really go wrong with a Bolognese so that was an 8/10. For entrees, we got the Scallops Saltimbocca - I did not try that as I am not a seafood person but the table said it was good. Now for the star of the show ... the Brick Chicken was AMAZING - such good flavor, great portion size and they should never take this off the menu. For drinks we just did wine so nothing too crazy to review on. My only complaint every time I go here is that is overpriced for the portion sizes you are getting.
We had dinner before a night out downstairs and it was great! The bread is an absolute must... so yummy and warm. Fun ambiance and good service.
I love the ambiance of Capo, especially during the Christmas time. It's moody, cozy, and lively. I came for the all you can eat pasta on a Wednesday night = $32 for bottomless pasta that most of their pasta menu (waygu and lobster pasta are a surcharge). Most pastas at capo range from $24-28 so for the price i think this is a pretty good deal. The kitchen was slammed upon arrival and service was preoccupied but overall i still think they were relatively efficient given the demand. None of the pastas really blew my mind, personal favorites were the tortellini, shrimp scampi, and Bolognese - but thought everything else was just alright. I do think for the size and flavor if i were to order any of these dishes at regular price I would be a bit disappointed. We made it through four rounds before tapping out. Overall a fun experience but I wouldn't expect stellar food.

I'm going to start off with the obvious: I have Celiac and normally wouldn't even attempt an Italian restaurant. However, I'm in town to help with some family matters and was brought along for dinner on a Tuesday. Granola bar in my bag, I was ready to twirl my fork on another side salad and eat later. Lucky me, unbeknownst to everyone with me, Tuesday is gluten-free night. Having read some of the other reviews, I can tell you that the Tuesday clientele is different from Fridays, for certain. It has been almost fifteen years since I've had half of the things that were on offer and in those fifteen years, all of the ones I have had were made in my own kitchen. After talking with the staff and getting an understanding of what gluten free night means, I took the leap and ordered. Choosing was so difficult with so many things on the menu; I'm usually relegated to that side salad and reminding someone that croutons are, in fact, made from bread. We over-ordered and wound up with enough food to handle the next day and maybe more. For me, the garlic bread, tuna crudo, and the parm were stand-outs among what made it to our table, which was a lot. I didn't have even a hint of a reaction to the meal; a meal that's often dangerous or disastrous for those of us stuck with dietary restrictions. read more
After a previous bad experience, I came back and had a great time. The bar tender was nice and the capri sun was just as good as I remember. The ambiance is always nice and dim. The pasta here is really great. I went here on a Saturday night for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. It's definitely one of the more upscale restaurants that southie has to offer. The agnolotti was delicious but a very small portion. I also got a mocktail that was not on the menu and loved that as well. Our server was great at accommodating this. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is for the loud volume and the tables being so close together. I had to raise my voice to talk and I felt like there was no privacy with the neighboring tables being so close. read more

Wow! I'm so grateful that they dedicate Tuesdays to Gluten Free. To be able to order anything from the menu is serene. And the food was amazing, wouldn't even know it was gluten free. Ambiance was beautiful and wonderful service. Will definitely be back next time in Boston. Thank you on behalf of us with Celiac or gluten intolerance. read more

Our AMAZING waitress Ashley M was so nice and accommodating. The restaurant was larger than I expected and the decor was nice. The food was really good and the proportions matched the price. I am not sure how I never have been here with all the times I have visited Boston. I am glad my friend suggest we go here for dinner. I had the corn ravioli and wow was it tasty. I really enjoyed the bread and whipped ricotta too. My drink was also delightful. This space is big, nice bar area. Also, downstairs is a clubby area. They also serve food down there. Our waitress was nice and took my food allergies seriously. Which I thanked her for. Also, she had told me her opinion about a dish I was going to get but I am glad she told me to go with my second option! read more

Capo is very lively! The pop music is blasting (they had a DJ!) and the crowd is bustling. I came for a birthday dinner and it was pretty difficult to hear anyone who wasn't seated next to you. I got the penne all forno, which I quite liked! It was also portioned generously, I think I took more than half of it home. Overall it's a fun vibe for a hype night, but don't expect to get to know anyone new in the din, just vibe together to throwback Beiber. read more

I've been ordering back to back shrimp scampi for the past year bc it is my favorite dish. I've only ordered through Uber Eats ever and never sat down in the restaurant itself due to a long line of college students. I ordered this dish 2 days in a row and the proportion of pasta is ridiculous. Never ever has this ever happened to me. For $30 prior to these last 2 days they have been service half of a container!!!???? For $30. A cheap pizza shop up the street up the street would overwhelm you with pasta for $20 or less. Is there a damn shortage on a $1 dollar pasta box?!! What the hell is going on!?. This is crazy work to me and the only answer they could provide to me is to take it up with Uber Eats! What does Uber Eats have to do with you packing my order. When I ordered this dish it would be filled to the brim that the dish is would last 2 days to eat. An authentic italian restaurant would never serve such a small portion for $30 friggin dollars! This is unacceptable. I will be coming in person to order a take out to see if you guys are purposely doing this to Uber Eats clients only to understand if your are cheating folks out of their money!! read more

Was honestly not super impressed by Capo which was disappointing because I feel as though it's a southie staple. My friends and I (7 of us) went for the all you can eat pasta and comedy on Wednesdays. The deal is $30 for unlimited pasta and you can mix and match pastas. The comedy in the basement is also free. We made a reservation and were seated at a really wobbly table. When we asked to change, the person said they had to check with the host upstairs, but never came back down. It was a while before we saw our sever, we put in our pasta and drinks at the same time. The pasta took a while to come out. I had gotten the carbonara pasta as my first pasta, and it was a really big serving compared to my friends who had gotten the tortellini or the ravioli. It was really good though. I had also gotten the Mediterranean G&T which I thought was just an over priced Gin and tonic. Once we got our first round of pasta our sever had us put in our second round because of how long it was taking. It was another hour before our second round of pasta came out. It was clearly rushed as some of my friends pastas were still really hard. It was not even worth it for us to put in a third round. Overall it wasn't the most enjoyable experience. The pasta was good and for $30 dollars it's worth it if you get at least two rounds because most of the pastas are $25 anyway. If you have a few hours to kill you might be able to get a third round. The comedy was also something else, a lot of different comedians that we're on for a really short period of time. I think I would rather sit upstairs the next time. read more

capo was absolutely delicious. there pumpkin espresso martini was what my dreams are made of as an espresso martini lover. loved the dark ambiance and our server was quick always checking in if what we wanted was up to our standards! couldn't decide on what pasta to get and she recommended i ordered half and half and they brought me over two plates of pasta for the price of one read more

As someone with celiac in Boston; dining out isn't always easy. But dinner here was so delicious. We came for gluten free/Taylor swift night and to celebrate my bday. The food was really delicious and we would all absolutely come back. I had so many of the gluten free appetizers, and had the risotto as my entree. For dessert I had a delicious chocolate cake with coffee ice cream. Everyone else with me is not gluten free and they loved their gluten free food here. I will absolutely be back and am so thankful this restaurant offers such a safe option for people who need to eat gluten free. read more

I'll preface this with the fact that I've never eaten in restaurant at Capo. However, a friend and I ordered some pasta and pizza delivery one night and we really loved it. The food all traveled well surprisingly and the pizza was really the star. I'd definitely recommend if you have a random craving but don't wanna actually go out. The prices weren't awful either. read more

We ordered delivery on the gluten free night, and let me just say that my celiac husband was so grateful and impressed with how delicious the food was. We ordered the garlic bread, the radiatori Alfredo with truffle, the black truffle pizza, and the veal Marsala! Everything was truly 10/10, and you can't even tell it's gluten free! For a restaurant to dedicate a whole night to gluten free is truly appreciated and is needed with the rise of celiac disease worldwide. Highly highly recommend. read more

I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and it was delicious. They offered a good variety of vegetarian options. The atmosphere was pleasant, although quite busy due to St. Patrick's weekend. Surprisingly, we didn't need a reservation, and they seated us fairly quickly. read more
Really good pasta dishes here that I've tried. My personal favorite is the sausage cavatelli. The chicken park comes with a side of pasta but it's not linguini pasta. Just be aware of that. The chicken parm was smothered in cheese and sauce. If you don't like a lot of cheese, I suggest you say so when you order haha. read more

Gluten free Tuesdays! If you're GF I highly recommend coming here on Tuesdays. I eat gluten and was still really happy with my meal! Arancini were 10/10 and I got the vodka pasta which was really yummy - but wasn't a huge fan of the shape. If I were to come back I'd just ask for a different noodle! read more

Amazing first experience especially if you are GF or celiac. Everything we ordered other than the ravioli was GF and it was so delicious. The portions are big so I think you could share two entrees amongst three people especially considering you get bread (so fluffy and soft) with oil in the beginning. The two desserts pictured were also GF and so sweet. The place is massive and has a dim light ambiance which makes it really cozy especially for a birthday or date night. You can also go downstairs for more of a dancey vibe if that is what you want post this meal! The first pasta pictured (the red sauce) was the group favorite and it was great that they had so many options for pasta/noodle varieties that were GF. read more

My brother (an absolute foodie) recommended this spot, and we wanted to see what the hype was about. Unfortunately, I'd give it 2.5 stars if I could- the food was fine, but nothing show-stopping. But the restaurant gets crowded and VERY loud from the bar goers, especially since we went on a Saturday night (people start early these days!). I can't speak to the back of the restaurant, but we were seated at a high top right next to the bar, and groups were leaning on our table, moving it, and leaving their drinks. Not my kind of crowd. Meatballs- our favorite dish of the night. They're hearty and stay together. Wonderful flavor and texture in a generous serving. The bread was a little over-charred but not off putting. Olives- very standard and not disappointing. Nicely warm when served. Short rib croquettes- very light and perfectly crispy. Some bites were a little too salty for my taste and the short rib didn't really come through, but overall still one of the better dishes we had. Prosciutto wrapped figs- terrible, just terrible. The prosciutto was cooked to a crisp and lost all its flavor. If you had told me it was bacon I would have believed you. The figs were tasteless, but the balsamic helped make up for all its shortcomings. Really missed the mark on flavor altogether. Would NOT recommend. Sausage cavatelli- really buttery, the pasta was wonderfully al dente and chewy, but the sauce wasn't my favorite. Rigatoni bolognese- another really solid dish. The sauce was substantial, just enough cheese on top, and a generous serving. The pasta was al dente, but texture could have been better. I'd love to give this spot another try, maybe during a different time of day or different day of the week. read more

We visited for their Gluten Free Tuesday night on our trip to Boston and it was the best food we had the whole trip. If you're gluten free and visiting Boston, you absolutely need to make your way to Capo on a Tuesday night. They start you off with complimentary gf bread and oil. We ordered the polenta fries as an appetizer - incredible. For entrees, we did the eggplant Parmesan and the Alfredo - both were so so so good, but the Alfredo won the night. They also had a whole menu of gf desserts. You cannot go wrong coming here for GF night. read more
