Flew into Eagle Vail and was looking for a local lunch spot. Capital Public House had great reviews so we thought we'd give it a try and I'm so glad we did. They more than deserve all the great reviews. Nathaniel, our server, seated us right away and was very helpful with the abundance of beer choices and menu options. The menu has a vast selection of items. I had the Reuben sandwich with fries and my wife had the Hot Italian Hoagie with fries. Both sandwiches were fantastic. I rarely ever leave reviews, although my outstanding experience at Capitol Public House (CPH) in Eagle, CO, definitely deserves some feedback. I've dined at CPH a number of times. Growing up working and enjoying restaurants, I know the importance of a positive first impression that carries throughout the entire dining experience. Every time I come in, I am met with a personable, friendly, and knowledgeable employee, willing and able to suggest anything to tickle my fancy for an elevated dining experience. I can tell there is a lot of fun to be had amidst the people working because everyone is smiling and seemingly having a great time. These are some of the themes I was excited to embrace as I took on planning one of my friend's birthdays. Being a planner, I started talking with the manager, Morgan to ensure everything went smoothly. Morgan went above and beyond to assure I was aware of all of the logistics that went into coordinating the best birthday party at Capitol Public House. I definitely did not make things easy for her. Despite the back and forths that came from an indecisive group of people, Morgan was able to get us an estimate of what the minimum would be to host the party, she was able to ensure we would have the back room for a party of 30, on a Saturday, at 17:00 (crazy busy time for the restaurant); all the while delegating herself with gracious kindness and clear communication. This was so nice to be met with, especially considering how any other person (including myself) would have lost patience considering the circumstances of the situation. Having seen and been a part of parties at this restaurant, I know that the night would have been a spectacular experience. Unfortunately, the other members of the party decided to take charge and make new plans. I was so sad that our work wasn't rewarded that I felt I needed to share my experience of planning the party so others would have a feel for the ease and excitement I experienced while doing so. Every time I come here, I am so impressed. Warm and friendly greetings from the staff, prompt service, great drinks, and comforting food. I've been here a lot since they opened and am currently hooked on their grilled chicken sandwich. I love coming here for lunch and enjoy the half and half specials. We're passing through and we're very please with our visit! The restaurant is located in a very upscale and vibrant area. We were promptly greeted and seated the menu is very diverse, I oredered the Strip steak and it was delicious and cooked to perfection! I subbed the Au gratin potatoes and they were excellent. My wife ordered the tortellini Alfredo and it was plentiful and very very tasty. Our server Lorenn did a fabulous job! This place is a definite must try for a casual and delicious dinner. read more

Couldn't wait to get out of this place fast enough. Looking to enjoy a nice night out with my Mrs ended with tears. The menu looked good, great whiskey selection, it must be a great way to enjoy a night without the kids. It was busy, which is usually a good thing, except the noise level was so high we couldn't even hear each other. Kids all over the place, including a table of six that was just kids. Usually you show up at a place with that kind of menu and liquor collection, not many kids. My wife ordered a bowl of French onion soup and the Donkey Punch cocktail. The soup was gross, really thick and concentrated. The drink was an odd blend of citrus and smoky mescal, didn't really work so I put it down to maybe help me relax from all the kids running about. The lobster ravioli wasn't really what you'd expect, it was more of a brothy soup, very misleading. The California Grill with salmon was a disappointment. It was a bunch of grilled veggies with a 2 oz piece of overcooked salmon. The server was non existent, didn't ask about our food until we were just about done, after she leaned in while taking the next tables order. We high tailed out of there a hundred and twenty dollars lighter after spending a half an hour in the place. The food, atmosphere, and service were subpar. My family had a great meal on our visit to the mountains. We actually went twice over the course of four days because we enjoyed it so much. The bar and drink selection was excellent. There were great beers to pick from as well as the bourbon selection. The Old Fasion was my choice and a good one. For our meal, we had the Brusssel Sprouts and Truffle Tater Tots for starters, followed by an amazing Cheeseburger, the Fish & Chips, Roasted Chicken & NY Strip. Starting off this is a horrible replacement for boneyard. First, the prices are pretty high for the low amount of food that you get. The renovations are nice but I do find them a little cold. During my dining experience here the service I received was pretty mediocre. The woman waiting on me interrupted my phone call to ask me why I hadn't touched my food and told me to hang up. She continued to pester me while I was on the phone trying to speak to a relative. I have since been back to give the restaurant another chance, and have been let down again my the service. The man who was waiting on me never even asked my table if we wanted drinks. I ordered a rueben and was disappointed with my meal. The meat in my sandwich was overcooked and tough. I appreciate the owners efforts in replies on Yelp to improve this restaurant and I it continues to change for the better. read more

I was so impressed with CPH! The food was so good. I particularly enjoyed the burrata and the beet salad. I've been craving the beet salad since I had it. A nice variety of food options to cover most diets including vegetarian and gluten free. The kids menu was more extensive than most including kid snacks which I love for my kids who don't always want to eat a full meal. I don't drink whiskey but my husband was extremely impressed with their list and was able to try a few things he'd never had. I loved the wine list, although limited, it had great options at completely reasonable prices. Don't miss having a meal at CPH! I can't wait to go again. read more

High Price for mediocre food. The Boneyard, which was in that space previously, had much better food. I had a ceasar salad and the Fish & Chips. Fries are not good. Great addition to Eagle. Completely disagree with the review that believed the Boneyard was better and that the fries weren't very good. This place has the BEST fries and they are hand cut (skin on). Huge improvement over Boneyard and Dusty Boot. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food is tasty and has options for everyone. I don't have kids but their kids menu is impressive! At first glance the menu might seem a little expensive but the portions are generous and everything can easily be shared. The prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. We've been 3 times for food - both lunch and dinner. Pizza, burger, fish and chips, buratta, wedge salad, and half a roast beef sandwich (at lunch). All were tasty. I will admit the fries were different at lunch but that might have been due to a busy weekend and still trying to figure things out.
