Here for lunch since had Jruy Duty next door. Read reviews and had to check it out. The interior gives a relaxing cozy vibe. Super easy to order right up front and they give you a number and bring the food out to you. I chose a half sandwich with the soup of today. Just my luck today's soup was cream of mushroom soup. Yum! The soup was thicker than I usually have had but it was wonderfully tastey. I would get it again here. As for the sandwich, their Mediterranean on whole wheat baguette spoke to me. Today at noon I went to Cane A Sucre with a coworker and the place was popping! I ordered the Greek salad and a water. The sauce for the salad was a little bit buttery but overall it was very good. The service was quick, super helpful and they brought your food to you after it is ordered at the counter. The place was very clean and had a happy vibe to it. Highly recommend! Located right by the courthouse, this place is perfect for lunch. From the outside it seems really small, but it actually has some space to it. When you walk in you go straight up to order and take your number and pick a table and the food will be brought out to you. I was in the mood for a soup and Cobb salad that day and man did they deliver. The soup of the day was this delicious thick white carrot and mushroom soup, topped with spinach and cheese. It honestly made my day. The flavor was on point and with that creaminess to it can really fill you up. The Cobb salad was also great! I was working an event recently at Main Library downtown & a friend suggested ordering lunch froo m Cane á Sucre. I chose El Marinero (Albacore tuna tossed in a citrus aioli with vine-ripened tomatoes, hard boiled eggs and mixed greens). Now I'll admit... I am extremely picky with my tuna & few places live up to my expectation but this? THIS tuna is delicious! The baguette is spectacular & I love the addition of the thinlly sliced hard-boiled egg. SO good & huge! The half sandwich easily filled me up. I also ordered the Chocolate-Praline w/ whipped cream & berries coulis for dessert. The dense chocolate tart was ok but didn't taste "home made". Maybe is had been in the fridge too long? The raspberry coulis was absolutely delicious though & I definitely enjoyed the tart much more with it. Only wish there was more as the little pkastic container was only half full. As for the whipped cream? None to be found but no biggie. I loved the sandwich so much though that I ordered it again today for lunch. This is a tiny place with lots of character. I eat there on the covered area on the side, it's really pleasant with the brick texture walls and the plants it has an urban rustic vibe. I always order whatever the special of the day is and every time it does not disappoint. The salmon with mashed potato is amazing, it's tender & tasty and the presentation was quite nice. I also had a shrimp and salad that was spectacular, they packed so much flavor in the shrimp I think they marinated it, the salad was delicious and complemented the shrimp perfectly. A popular lunch spot, the highlight of this restaurant is the lunch combo special, where you can choose a soup/salad and 1/2 sandwich for about $8.50, which is a very reasonable price considering the quality and quantity of food you are getting. The daily soup is always a good go to item, and always taste fresh and so flavorful! The salad or soup that comes with the special isn't just a small cup, but a huge bowl, definitely filling! And the sandwiches, especially the ones on the hot baguette, are so good! I particularly love the El Pollo as well as the Le Fig sandwiches, such interesting combo of ingredients that work perfectly together. I have also tried their main specials, which also were good lunch items, and their daily quiche is very satisfying! What's also great about the restaurant is it is super quick! Food gets out to you so fast, and they know how to keep the place clean too for the next party to sit. My usually was the Le Cobb which once consisted of freshly grilled chicken breast, in addition I would order the daily soup. I actually went to lunch there twice this week. The first time I took a fellow Elite Yelper's suggestion and had the roasted vegetable quiche to go. I'm not a quiche eater, but it was really good. The second time I went with co-workers. Two of us ordered a half pollo (chicken - to Miami newbies) baguette and salad. I don't eat tomatoes, but they were a deep gorgeous red and looked great. The salad also came with an egg slice. I ordered the French dressing, which was white. I t was good. I don't know if that was a mistake or if it was just their house dressing. The half sandwich was almost big enough to be a whole sandwich. Another got a tomato bisque soup and raved. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots downtown. Their bacon scramble sandwich is perfect for a day when I know I will probably work through lunch. It's huge, and around $4-5. Such a bargain for a big egg sandwich on a baguette with cheese and bacon. I also like Cane a Sucre for lunch. They have tasty sandwiches and salads, and their cookies are the crunchy on the outsides and soft in the middle (perfection). I'd skip some of the desserts in their display case. They look better than they taste. I wish they delivered, or used one of the local delivery services for days when I can't get down there from my office. Funny that I get to review this place first... considering that Yelp has grown so much that I hardly get to do first reviews anymore. LOL. Anyways... I recently reviewed the North Miami location, and then when I looked at the take-out menu, I realized I skipped over the fact that they had a second location... in downtown. My heart skipped a beat for a minute because I really loved their tasty and healthy offerings. So upon coming to their downtown location, I realized that it's not exactly the same. This second location adopted a more "chic" vibe, partly because it used to be the location for the downtown location for Le Boudoir which is just a gussied-up French cafe serving plain food at ridiculous prices for monied women. Yes, I said it. And so their pink banquettes remained. While they did not bring much of their laid-back vibe and their simplistic counter that showcases all their sandwiches from the North Miami location, both the food and the prices (thankfully) are just the same. And since it's in the west side of downtown, facing the Dade County courthouse, their hours are pretty limited, serving breakfast & lunch until 4 pm Monday through Friday only. Regardless, I'm glad I won't have to make much of a trek anymore for their yummy goods. Here's to hoping they find success in downtown and eventually expand their hours (and get some outdoor seating and homey vibe back). read more

Pros: by far the best soups I've had. I've ordered soup at least 3 times and they are always amazing. Sandwiches are also really good and nicely pressed. I like that they aren't super large when you get the half and half combo. Cons: some staff can be friendlier. I go frequently and am never greeted with a hello or smile when I get to the counter. As the cashier was giving my order to the staff in the kitchen, they started complaining" are you serious" I understand they close at 4:00pm but that's not a way to treat a customer, if the kitchen was already closed I would have happily gone elsewhere. Our staff members go to Cane A Sucre at least twice a week for their breakfast special - which is a great deal (Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, and OJ for $5.99). You honestly can't go wrong with their breakfast; the breakfast sandwiches are indulgent and filling. If I opt for the sandwich rather than the platter, I'll ask for it on the croissant with a side of the pesto! Yum! A note: Our team has noticed that the breakfast special includes fewer and fewer pieces of bacon, and today, we were given the tiniest bit of sauce on the side. Hopefully it was fluke. Lately, they have had this one, and I can never remember the name. It is basically pureed sweet potato and pumpkin. I LOATHE sweet potato and pumpkin. However, this soup is absolutely delicious! It has been chilly the past week and i have gotten the soup twice. Their sandwiches are made on fresh french baguettes that are so yummy! I opt for the milano, which has mozzarella, prosciutto, basil, and tomatoes. They warm it up so the cheese is melty and the meat flavor drips into the bread! They aren't super fast, but they don't take forever! I have eaten there and taken it to go. Never had any problems. I finally got the chance to enjoy a quick lunch at Cane de Sucre and found myself impressed. First, know this place does a booming workweek lunch business. Luckily for us first-timers, we arrived before the midday rush. I was immediately drawn to the $12 tuna steak sandwich and eventually ordered it as a salad for a few dollars less instead. Make that two plus a perrier for a measly $21+$5 tip = downtown lunch time win!!! I was very pleased with the polished service, which kept the casual feel of the establishment while ensuring knowledgeable professionalism. The dining area is fairly large but packed and you can tell they do an impressive takeout and catering business. The menu is the perfect size with interesting and accessible selections.
