Today I spoke with the acting Front Desk Manager, Rachel. She was extremely supportive & empathetic. I truly appreciate how she listened & understood what happened to our family. She said that she was easily able to find my previous email communications with the Front Desk. She also said that my information was also easily accessible through IHG. Anyone in the hotel (especially the one who made the decision to cancel our reservation) could have found my info in IHG. I travel on business every week and I stay at the IHG family of hotels almost exclusively. I know what I want in a hotel and that is why I give IHG my business. I ask for a comfortable bed with blankets and not this triple sheet trend that the hospitality industry things everyone wants. I want reasonable quietness, a work station, and internet...high speed internet. This is where the candlewood suites falls down. The internet speed is horrible, it will time-out, it will fail to connect...horrible. In my opinion, as a business traveler, this just isn't the property that I will consider next time I'm in the Eugene/Springfield area. Stayed here for 11 nights with my U of O kid recovering from surgery. The hotel was pretty quiet, easy parking, the facility was clean, employees were very nice, and the full size fridge with an ice maker was great. I loved the lending area in the lobby filled with dvds, books, kitchen items, etc. My only gripe is the water in the shower. The pressure was horrible. The hot/cold was inconsistent. It would go from sort of hot to cold without moving the knob. That was annoying. I wanted to take a bath but the tub either was showing some wear or it wasn't quite clean on the tub floor so no bath for me. The last 3 days of our stay the tv was out, however they told us it wasn't just us, it was the entire area that experienced the outage from an alleged power surge and DirecTV was out. The dvds in the lobby helped fill the gap. Can't emphasize enough how professional, polite and helpful all the employees are. Unfortunately that is rare these days. read more

This is a new place, nicely designed, with spacious rooms. Lots of desk space for the business traveler to spread out and get some work done. Kitchenette is handy for the long term stay. Even for the short term stay, a nice amenity. I'm immediately pleased when I walk into my room. Even TV sleep timer on the remote - a rarity these days and an absolute necessity for me! I'm a business traveler and stay in Eugene every 6 weeks. For me, consistency is vital. That includes knowing I'll get a room that fits my preferences. When I can get that, along with a nice comfortable room, they have my loyal business. After switching from a place that couldn't provide that and staying here just for the third time, they make sure I get the same room each time! I LOVE THAT!! Good 'convenience store' in lobby to meet your miscellaneous needs. No free breakfast but, if that's why you choose where you stay, you really need to question why you put free crappy hotel cardboard food into your pie hole! read more

We stopped here on a road trip through Oregon and we were somewhat disappointed with our stay. The bed was very uncomfortable and there were no drapes on the window to block light and people looking in, which was not appreciated. That being said, the room was clean and the shower was very good, so it was an average place overall. I doubt I'd stay here again if we're in the area. read more

James was manning the desk when I arrived on Sunday afternoon, you see we had sold our home in Eugene and thought we had found a place to live while our new home was being purchased, what a mistake that was! We found the Candlewood using a Google search, so I was on a last minute hunt between runs to the Goodwill for a another place to call home for Myself, Dianne and our child wally, because we had to be out of our sold home that day, and the clock was ticking. I was covered in sweat and dust from head to toe when I walked into this fabulous new Candlewood lobby, and I felt completely out of place, James smiled and immediately attended to my needs, he made me feel at home, I explained how Dianne was crying that morning because she could no bare another night at the crossroads extended living hotel/dump in Springfield. James patiently explained all the amenities Candlewood had to offer like free laundry (washers and dryers), free WIFI (not throttled and pay for extra bandwidth) BBQ pits, fee movies, full size refrigerators, kng size beds, brand new rooms overlooking the Willamette river Etc. I was in shocked and could not believe my good fortune, only I had forgotten my wallet, "not a problem" James said, and signed me in anyway, he simply asked that we show in our credit card when we return. Well that was three days ago and we just love staying at the Candlewood, I can truly recommend that you stay here and if you are lucky enough to speak with James, tell him Larry Dianne and Wally sent us! read more

Great price for what you get! The room is nice and clean, the kitchenette was very convenient. Our refrigerator did make some noise at night (something with the ice maker) so we unplugged it! Could have asked for the staff to fix it but kind of forgot once we left in the morning. One thing is that there is only enough silverware, plates, bowls, etc for two. Maybe you can borrow more from downstairs. Very nice staff! And we saw a cat wandering around the ground floor... a permanent resident maybe? :) read more

We are almost done with our week stay. So far I am completely satisfied with my stay. I'm very happy with every aspect of this hotel as we have two small dogs so to pay a flat one time fee of $75 was great. I can see how some people would have issues with this for one night only, etc. but we planned ahead. We loved the fact that housekeeping doesn't come daily so you can leave your room as messy or clean as you'd like. The staff are so amazingly accommodating and friendly it's so refreshing. The rooms are exactly as pictured and very clean and smell free. Anyone complaining of the smell of cleaning products is clearly being petty! I'd rather smell bleach residue than past pets or guests! In California, the equivalent of this room would be doubled at $150-175! I will definitely stay here again if needed. read more

We booked the room based on the pics on the website. The hotel looks spotless and bright in the photos, but when we entered the room, it reeked of the smell of moldy carpet! Thought we could air out the place by opening the windows (we were on the ground floor), but the smell stayed on through the night. The lever for stopper in the bathroom sink was also not working and had to be manually lifted up for the water to drain, but every time this happens the overpowering smell of mildew arose from the drain. Had to cancel our 2nd night there. BTW, there is no river view rooms on the first floor and the traffic noise was unbearable. Will not book a room in this hotel again. read more

We made a reservation several months ago on our trip to drop off our daughter for college. We received a confirmation number. We arrived after driving 9 hours from California and were told we did not have a reservation! The woman at the front desk told us our credit card didn't go through- she claimed she did not have any information to contact us which is untrue as we received a confirmation email. I stay in hotels 40 weeks a year due to work and rarely do I find one that stands out from the rest but this one does. its brand new, we're talking brand new oh so comfy beds and modern furnishings with flat screen tvs, they even have fully equipped kitchens which have all your pots,pans, and dishes already in the room. They have an outdoor grilling area, a stocked pantry, free dvd rentals, and a nice workout area. Second stay. First was great. Good room quite and clean. Second time not so good. Told we had a great room...not true. Washing and drying machines next door and running non-stop. Located on bottom floor next to maid area where talking and noise seems to start at the crack of dawn. Bottom level across from BBQ area where posted no smoking but it seems to be the designated smoking area which means you can't open window and get fresh air, plus people will be looking in your room all the time. Avoid room 117! Still a nice place to stay. Very clean and nice people. read more

I have no problem with the property as a place to stay. Super clean, friendly staff, accomodating. However, their wireless Internet is absolutely horrible! I have been forced to burn up valuable data time on my phone using it as a hotspot, as their wireless infrastructure, excuse my language, sucks! I spend over 80 nights per year at IHG properties, and this is not the first time I have had issues at Candlewood. I will definitely avoid this IHG brand in the future. BAD idea, do not do it. They clean rooms "only every seven days". If you stay more than one night and want towels they charge $10 to bring them to your room, if you take your old towels to the front desk they'll exchange them for you one for one. What? The parking spaces are good only for a smart car. (We don't drive a Smart car) passengers have to get out before the driver pulls into the spaces so that only one person bangs into the next car to slide out. The lobby smells like a botched carpet cleaning job. The Wi-Fi comes and goes. Apparently the elevator is broken about half the time. The walls are paper thin, we could hear the conversation of the couple next to us. Luckily, it was just a conversation! The neighborhood is terrible. One direction there was a hypodermic needle in the public street, and a guy on a bike approached my son and I, obviously up to no good. The other direction were two adults skateboarding and drinking out of the bottle. Just not a good neighborhood. It's also carefully nestled underneath Interstate 5, on Franklin Boulevard. A lot of traffic, and a lot of noise. Way too expensive, Way too expensive. If I was on a road trip and I needed a place to crash and a shower and I was by myself and I had $39.95 I would've expected what I've got. Our bill for two nights was $249. Wow. Do yourself a favor, just move in a different direction. read more

Moderate priced hotel despite its name very few actual suites, most single rooms with microwave stove and fridge. Staff mostly very pleasant but not very experienced. They never seem to anticipate problems. Serious problem (or benefit) with guests smoking marijuana in their rooms drifting into halls and stairwells. Management does not seem to know how to handle this. Adequate WiFi is about 10 to 14 mps. If it goes out staff is clueless you'll have to tell them and then they call in issue so hours till it's back up. If you don't have a car it's a long walk (up to 10 minutes) to get a frequent bus to downtown. No restaurant within walking distance, but plenty 5 minutes by car. People complain about the highway noise, I didn't find that to be an issue but beware there is another hotel under construction within 10 feet of Candlewood Suites so try for a room away from it. read more

She placed us in a wonderful room with a wonderful view of the river and suggested a perfect place to dine for the evening. We would both love to stay for at least another night. Wonderful room; bed was super comfy. Hipster boutique hotel. Better than other places in same price category. Modern and many micro amenities in the kitchenette. Full cooking ensemble is present, and the downstairs lobby has many free family games, wine openers, etc in their wall full of goodies. It's a great place to stay w/all the comforts of home... I had to pay double to stay elsewhere ae most hotels were booked on this very busy weekend. The manager said she would be grateful that the hotel called at 11am and thanked the hotel if she was in my shoes. They did not even offer another place to stay..I have spoke top Evelyn and Leslie, both are very condescending with their answers. They told me if I took the time to read my terms and conditions thoroughly I would have known overbooking hotels is a risk I take anytime I book a hotel. Nice a amenities but the staff provided very poor customer service. We arrived and the hotel's computers were down. The next morning, the systems were still down. Around 6pm the following day, we received a call from a staff member stating that our room rate would go from $139 per night to $189 per night because of a local event. We were offer d the option to remove our things from the room at no additional charge or pay the increased price. We called corporate and we were told too bad you have to pay the new rate or leave. As a result, we were left scrambling around looking for a new room while on vacation. So for just a $50 difference in cost, the hotel manager decided we could not be accommodated. I will never book at this location again because of the poor experience. I strongly wncoirage anyone looking for a room, to stay at the hotel across the parking lot. read more

I have only good things to say about this place and their staff. I booked for the wrong date but after talking with Travelocity I was able to rebook and they even let me in my room a few hours before check-in. The rooms were clean and looked pretty new, we had room 510 so we had a great view of the river. They have a small shop in the lobby with snacks, TV dinners and more, they have these "borrowing shelfs" with board Games movies small kitchen appliances etc. I even seen in the lobby a small corner with donation items. Amazing. Very quiet even though the parking lots were full. I'm literally a freak when it comes to staying in hotels I check reviews then I make sure everything in the rooms are clean and sanitary but this place was spotless. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in town. Oooohhhh and the beds and pillows are amazing especially after a 11 hour drive ! read more

Just check out of there today and had a great experience here. Staff was very friendly and check in was quick and easy. There was a few times I was waiting at the desk for a few minutes and no one to be seen but I wasn't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal. The room was clean and well stocked as it's an extended stay. Beds were comfy except for the few stains on my blanket which I could have done without. I recently stayed here for a business trip. There was no meeting room, and no tables to be utilized to meet with clients. The reason I selected this location was because it provided a kitchenette because I typically cook my own meals when traveling. After checking out the hotel charged me stating they needed to clean the room from the cooking. I travel a lot and I have never been charged for cooking in my room utilizing a kitchenette. We live in Eugene...Ice Storm and no heat...3 days was enough. Thus we checked into Candlewood, as I write this, we are hoping to pack up to move back home. Right now, I wish we'd abandoned home sooner. The double queen room with the kitchenette was just right for us. It's designed as an extended stay with cooktop, micro, full size fridge and dishwasher. In the lobby, they have a lending area...blenders, waffle makers, books, DVD's, a mini-market. The gym looks great too. Comfy beds, nice bathroom, but no daily housekeeping, it's designed as an extended stay. Staff!!!! Well, it's Eugene/Springfield... everyone is so NICE here (I might be biased). Oh well. read more

My hubby and I traveled to Eugene to visit family. Found this Gem of a hotel through Southwest.com for a great price. As soon as we walked through the front door I was impressed with a clean smell. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We were informed that there would be an extra charge for room service if needed but we were fine without that as we prefer our room be left alone unless we need something. If you need clean towels, they ask that you put your dirty towels in the basket provided in your room and bring them down to the front desk and they will give you clean towels. Not a problem for us as we only stayed for four days and our room had 4 towels Our room was very clean and spacious with a kitchenette which was a plus! The beds were comfy too! We will definitely stay here again in the future! read more

I don't recommend this hotel. Hair on the toilet, sink and bath tub. The bathroom and kitchen floor were totally sticky. There was something spilled in the lobby and the elevator floor wasn't clean. I was told by the manager I would get enough "points" to stay at another hotel for one night and I was 15k points short. After I called she added 5k more so by the time I die of old age I can probably get a night comped for the grossness. read more

Love this place. Very spacious rooms, comfortable bed, lots of hot water for multiple showers. The kitchen is wonderful. Super service with them providing all the supplies for kitchen. This place may be a pet friendly place, but additional charge of $75 for a pet? It's well above what other hotels are charging. If my dog is getting his own room, then sure. That's unreasonable given their room rate is $89. That's disappointing. We really wanted to stay here given the great reviews. Our dog travels regularly and has never had an accident. Large nice suite rooms with stocked kitchen everything but the the food. Staff was 5 stars and always there to assist any need. Free laundry!! Lack of parking and poor location is my only complaints here, if you arrive after 8pm the parking is slim to none. So get it in early and stay in to avoid that. Stopped over here for a night on our road trip between San Francisco and Seattle. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable and had a nice layout - which included a kitchenette. Forgot my laptop on our way out, and only made the discovery when it was too late to turn back. They were both reliable and efficient in mailing it to me, which was much appreciated.
