The meeting place was well described to us and followed up with an email. The shuttle was right on time. Chris was very personable. I loved his knowledge of the area and information he shared with us regarding the bike ride we were about to go on. He also had detailed maps of the 26 mile rides for us and also described some specific areas of the trail. I have been on many shuttles. What I loved most about Chris is that at the end he wanted to make sure everyone was ok and no questions that anyone had were left unanswered. He did not rush off. Thank you!!

This review is for the Mtn bike rental and shuttle for the Mackenzie river trail…read more The good: the trail is worth the drive (from anywhere) and the questionable service. You're riding along the Mackenzie river on a single track trail for up to 25 miles. The scenery is amazing. The water is roaring and clear. The trail is very well maintained. I'm glad this business exists and people have an opportunity to explore this terrific landscape. The bad: we showed up and the guy behind the desk was stressed and had a lot of anxiety. It was only us and one other group of two people. We planned on doing the entire trail (25 miles) but were told the top 9 miles is very technical and we should only do the bottom 16 miles. We submitted and said okay. Unfortunately, where we dropped off only allowed for 10 miles of beginner riding. I called when we finished and they said it was a miss-communication on their part and would take us further up. We went further up and did the next 10 miles. There was one mile of pretty technical riding where we had to stop riding and walk a decent amount. The rest of the time was all beginner/intermediate riding. When finished we couldn't call the shop to get picked up because there was no service. We rode along the road until there was service and called and txted the driver 11 times. No answer. We finally called the shop and were informed that "his phone was on the charger." They said he would be here to pick us up in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later I called back and got a lot of attitude from the front desk staff saying "we have other things to do to." Luckily it was an amazing ride. Really hoping they can get their communication and customer service dialed in!

I'm not going to beat around any bush here ... my experience would have been 4-5 star if the "guy"…read morewho is in the office had just been absent the day we checked in. Sadly, I think he is the husband of the gal who manages the place and he is part of the care taking crew. So how does one man take a 4-5 star potential experience down to a 2-star stay? First impressions ... Here's what happened - and I am not going to go into all the detail here but give you enough to know to stay away from the troll! First - we drove from Northern California to get here - and showed up a little (1 hr.) early before check in. We had been "warned" to not attempt to check in early ... BUT we had no where to go and we had to get out of that car and get our groceries into a fridge. So we (and when I say we, it was myself, my sister, and my mother - all went to the office to plead with them to allow us to at the very least hang around and "maybe" get our food in a fridge. I, personally felt that was an easy request which should/could have been accommodated without any difficulty. BOY, was I wrong!! After knocking on the door to the office several times, he (the guy) almost refused to open it, and when he did it was a mere crack to barely show his face. Here's how it went down. Him: Yes? (note - no greeting - no hello) Us: ... silent because we had to scoop our jaw up off the ground to respond ... Him: YES!? Us: ... Oh, sorry, is this the place to check in? Him: YES!? What do you want? Us: ... again silent - we were in shock! Him: (repeating himself) What do you want? Us: ... oh well we know we aren't supposed to request to check in early (admission of true facts!) but is there any way we can just get the paperwork and charges out of the way? We just drove a long way and want to get this taken care of. Him: There is no early check in. Us: Yes, we understand that - but we have perishable items and we are happy to "take a hike" and get out of your hair for a while - if we can at least get our items into our fridge. That's enough ... I think you get the picture. RUDE - so rude that the word rude is actually not sufficient for his behavior. I was completely flabbergasted. Here's the bottom line - he doesn't do check in; he clearly doesn't have much contact with guests - for a reason. Keep him out of the office and never let him open the door. Or at the very least - teach him how to greet guests and kindly inform them that the office person will be back shortly. There was absolutely no reason he had to be so RUDE! We were paying customers - and last time I checked - they are NOT the cheapest location along the McKenzie River. This first impression set the tone for the entire weekend - SADLY - because we were there for a family member's wedding celebration. PROS: - Cabins - Nicely appointed cabins with all the amenities - the things we brought because we thought we'd need them - we didn't. - Location - Beautiful grounds well manicured/maintained and to be on that river was exceptional. - Family - I was there for a family event which took place over the course of 3-days and it is because of them - that I didn't leave. CONS: - The TROLL who should never have contact with humans - EVER! - Early check in policy - stinks for out of town travelers. Time your arrival accordingly or you might meet the TROLL! - Price - not sure you get what you pay for at this place considering my first impression. - Wi-Fi - not free. I can't see myself ever returning to this place - I would rather stay up or down the road and hope for a better experience.

We had a toddler and without even asking they provided us a pack n play and a giant bucket so she could take a bath (since only had shower in bathroom). Lots of amazing frolicking through the property garden and forest for the littles. Everything was so tranquil, with the state of the world these days it was soooo much of everything we needed to take a break. I saw some people mentioned outdated cabins in their reviews but I dont get why? Theyre historic and retro design but meticulously maintained and clean. Someone clearly knows a lot about design because it feels like youre staying in an art piece that perfectly compliments the gorgeous forests and river outside. All the staff we ran into was so nice and helpful and they all work really hard to make it a great experience for people to enjoy. Honestly too, the wedding amenities looked AMAZING. If youre going to celebrate your love anywhere in nature, this should be the place. I bought a hat with a freakin Loloma lodge name on it! Who does that?! I did because this place was magical. Thank you so much to all the staff. I could go on and on even more but for the sake of not writing a novel on yelp ill stop here. Book it if you can!

We sat for hours just talking, drinking wine and watching the river. It's a very peaceful and relaxing spot. The location was OK, but Cabin #3 needs a lot of attention. A couple of the window mechanisms were not working, so if you opened a window, it stayed open. A busted light switch kept us from using the front porch light - so that was a bit hazardous. One of the reasons we rented a cabin with a kitchen was so we could prepare meals there. The kitchen had what can be best described as a minimum of dishes and utensils. There wasn't even a large bowl for making salad. There was no dish soap for cleaning up. There were no extra trash bags so when the trash cans filled up, you were stuck. Guest services were nearly non-existent. We had to ask three times - three different people - for more dish soap. What we got was a bottle with about 1/2 inch of liquid soap in the bottom. Trash bags we had to ask twice for. We had to ask two different folks where to put the trash when we had a full bag. For the price, I expected a lot more knowledgeable and helpful guest services and a much better appointed cabin. There are lots of choices of cabins and resorts in the area, so on our next trip down that way we'll be trying another resort.

The cabins are gorgeous and have lots of exposed woodwork. They're cozy, and were just the right size for a quiet romantic getaway. Ours had a queen downstairs and two twins upstairs, so would work for two couples or a family with kids. Kitchen was good sized and well stocked. There was a propane fireplace which we had running most of the time for ambiance as well as warmth. One of the issues I saw was that the front door needed some weatherstripping. There was about an 1/8" gap and as cold as it was outside the air was blowing right in. Made the space around the door a little chilly. Mattresses were pretty decent, but nothing to write home about. All told, though, it was a lovely little spot to spend a few nights. We'll definitely be back!
