Gary was especially careful with our bikes on his rack, had an impeccably clean car (even without considering he hauls around outdoor enthusiasts), and happily showed us important markers and potential hiccups on the trail as he drove us to the trailhead. Alyssa was very responsive and kind on the phone. Overall, I get the impression that they love the land and community around McKenzie River, and are just excited to share that enthusiasm with their guests.

Alex and Maddie took us on the waterfall tour. We couldn't go to one of the waterfalls because the road was closed so they took us to a couple other spots in the area to compensate. Snacks were provided and omg the brownies were so delicious Thank you to all of the people who run the Horse Creek Lodge and Outfitters. You all helped us make some pretty amazing memories! Though we appreciate natural rather than pools as this one is. The pool was clean and in good working order. The grounds were fun to explore especially the secret garden. Also, I would say that this is a good starting point to explore the vast amount of hikes in the area. We hiked a few different trails and it was nice to come back and soak the aches and pains away. We stayed in the lodge which offered a continental breakfast. The breakfast was great and more than just a yogurt and pastries. Afterwards would would soak in the pool before really starting our day. I would have given 5 stars for this property however we didn't have hot water in the room. After our stay I reached out to management and the compensated us for the inconvenience. Would I go back? YES! Already planning it and looking forward to more adventures!

Unfortunately the facilities are overdue for a renovation and the lady at the front desk is rude for no reason, as mentioned by so many other reviewers. Yes, we had a visit from a black bear yesterday around 8:00 am in site #20. We watched him as he clambered around just a few feet from our trailer. He walked all around the campground, following along a common guest trail. When we called to report it (we were excited) the lady told us flat out it was "impossible" and there has "never" been a bear sighting. In 50 years ? I was taken aback by her gruff attitude. For your family's safety, just be aware that black bears do live in Central Oregon and might stroll into this campground looking for a yummy picnic basket.

The word "comforting" is the overarching term to describe this place. We love to arrive and are sad and depressed when we have to leave. I would say the biggest plus is the fact that you can sit at water level of the McKenzie River and even wade in at the beach area. I don't know of any other area that offers that. The cabins are steps from the river and back decks provide the perfect spot for morning coffee, (that we get from the McKenzie Bridge General Store right next door) afternoon reading and evening happy hour! We are disappointed we won't be able to visit this year due to the COVID-19 but can't wait for 2021!

Owned by the sweetest couple who made sure we had everything we could possibly need and recommendations on fishing, river trips and hikes to the water falls. NO traffic but close to all McKenzie River area has to offer. Give yourself and family a wonderful experience. We will come back as often as we can. I saw some people mentioned outdated cabins in their reviews but I dont get why? Theyre historic and retro design but meticulously maintained and clean. Someone clearly knows a lot about design because it feels like youre staying in an art piece that perfectly compliments the gorgeous forests and river outside. All the staff we ran into was so nice and helpful and they all work really hard to make it a great experience for people to enjoy. Honestly too, the wedding amenities looked AMAZING. If youre going to celebrate your love anywhere in nature, this should be the place. I bought a hat with a freakin Loloma lodge name on it! Who does that?! I did because this place was magical. They answered all our questions and even came out to greet us when we arrived late at night. The cottage is amazing. Ample parking for you and your family. A beautiful pond and deck outside to chill. Inside was even better with the comfy bedrooms and cozy living room. After a day at the hot springs, it was great coming to such an amazing place. The meeting place was well described to us and followed up with an email. The shuttle was right on time. Chris was very personable. I loved his knowledge of the area and information he shared with us regarding the bike ride we were about to go on. He also had detailed maps of the 26 mile rides for us and also described some specific areas of the trail. I have been on many shuttles. What I loved most about Chris is that at the end he wanted to make sure everyone was ok and no questions that anyone had were left unanswered. He did not rush off. Thank you!!
