The mattress doesn't seem as comfortable as the typical Hilton mattress (due to being a Hampton Inn?). Four pillows, all very flat and hard to sleep on, again not sure if it's entirely the pillows fault hence the 3. Elevator speed/availability-n/a- don't use Gym/pool-4- The gym was very spartan, with one of each of the typical cardio machines (but they all work). There is no pulley/pull-up station and the bench could be replaced with an industrial quality bench as it's a little flimsy. There is a good selection of dumbbells from 10-50lb so that's a big plus. I'm didn't use the pools but it looked nice, no hot tub. Restaurant-n/a. Continental (free) breakfast was good and available until 10:00 am. Staff-5- The entire staff was fantastic, super friendly and quick to answer any question. Honorable mention to both Jeremiah (evening front desk) and the day time front desk manager (I'll get his name and add). Both of the guys were great, really upbeat and knowledgeable about the area. Price5-typical Overall-5- despite the pillows/mattress and bench I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area. I checked in, Sarah at the front desk was amazing: professional and kind. I tried to give them my lifetime Diamond number as it wasn't put in reservation. They had the number. I was upgraded to a suite. I walked into my suite and sure enough as Sarah said a very out of the ordinary goodie bag and a hand written card thanking me for bringing a Diamond for life. Suite was great, bed very comfy. Breakfast was good. The coffee was very hot snd nice as they made new coffee. Sarah was kind enough to print out a multi page document I needed. We tried to get clean towels the second day but could not get housekeeping's attention. We stayed two nights, picking this hotel because we could walk to The Cuthbert and it had a pool. But when we arrived we were told there was an overchlorination issue, and someone would come around 9am to address it. Our room was next to the pool, so we watched and checked, and waited. But no one came. And when we asked again they said that the pump was broken. And later some other man that works there made the comment that "it always happens on our busiest weekends". We could hear the pump humming and see the water circulating in the pool. I assume that we were not allowed to use the pool because of a distrust of the hippie crowd, most of the people staying there were going to String Cheese Incident. I don't really know, maybe there was some other reason, but we didn't feel like they were honest. The other thing to note is that this hotel comes with "continental breakfast" which varied from day to day. One day was prepackaged Danish, yogurt, and bananas. Another day was bagels and cereal. There was hot coffee with real half and half both days. The AC was cold, but noisy, and kept us comfortable. Honestly, the pool was a big issue, and would have earned this budget hotel at least one more star. We travel to Eugene often for shows, and are more likely to stay at Guesthouse Inn and Suites (in Springfield) next time. We stayed there the weekend before and were 100% satisfied.

Unfortunately, the bathrooms and the fixtures are still waiting for an upgrade, and the new bedding is synthetic and thus hot and sweaty in the summer. The air conditioner worked well in our room (109), but was loud -- and we needed to run it all night. The vinyl floor in the bathroom was dirty and stained, there was mould and dirt in the corners, and rust in the tub. The old tile had been painted over, but the paint was flaking off. The internet was good when it worked. On our final morning, we reported to Britney at the front desk that the hotel Internet was not working at all, even though we had a good WiFi signal. She said that she would try to fix it by restarting their router. An hour later, nothing had changed, and I went to see if things worked any better in the office -- they did not. It turned out that Britney had actually done nothing, because "the internet works fine on my phone". I had to explain to her that her phone had its own internet connection over the cellular network, and wasn't using the hotel's connection, which I demonstrated was not working in front of her. I don't know if she took any action after that; we had to leave before we got Internet.

You must step up into each unit and the office. The bathroom door is narrow; you might be able to get in sideways with a walker, but not a Rollator. There are new low-sided tubs, and hooray! they provide a no-slip tub mat. So happy I didn't have to use mine. But no grab bars. I used the towel rack, but this worried me, because i could easily see it coming off the wall. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner is provided in the shower. But someone wasn't thinking during the bathroom remodel. The mirror over the sink was mounted above the tile. At 4'11", all I can (barely) see is the top of my head. If I need a mirror, I have to step into the hallway and use the big mirror on the closet door. But the only lighting comes from the bathroom, so putting on makeup is a crapshoot. I just hoped each day that I'd applied it evenly. The sink faucet ran endlessly unless you turned it way to one side. The toilet paper holder was right under the towel rack. Thank goodness the beds are not crazy high. I was able to easily get in and out. The mattresses are on the firmer side, but not rock-hard. Plenty of pillows are provided. There's a light blanket on the bed, another blanket in the closet (along with a safe and a suitcase rack). Rooms have mini-fridges and microwaves, and a small desk and work chair. There was also a big upholstered chair. There's plenty of lighting, and an A/C - heating unit under the window. It quickly cools or heats the room, but it doesn't reach the bathroom. The large-screen TV is nice, and gets lots of channels, and yet I had trouble finding anything I really wanted to watch. I didn't hear much noise from outside or other rooms, but no one was in the unit next to me during my stay. It's one story, so no upstairs, and there's plenty of parking. There are a couple of places outside where you can sit, and a soda machine. A continental breakfast is available in the office. A couple of fast-food places (Four Guys and Jimmy John's) are about two blocks away. Downtown Eugene is a few blocks away.

As a concession the hotel staff from our original hotel called around for us and connected us to your business. So it was extremely disheartening to have essentially, a door slammed in our face during such a time. I'm very happy you are making updates to your policy and thank you for your kind response. I hate posting bad reviews because it does effect small businesses tremendously. This incident happened quite a while ago. Sometimes I will draft a review and never post it because I want businesses to thrive. As I review old draft reviews, this experience still upset me. Your response assured me that I did the right thing. With this knowledge you can make improvements. I wish you well and hope my experience does not deter others from booking.
