Dear Reader: let me take you on a 6-year tale of frustration, pain, misery, and endless inconvenience caused by Caliber Collision. It begins, as many tragic stories do, with a car accident. Naively, we assumed that the dozens of glowing reviews here could be trusted, and that Caliber Collision would restore my vehicle to its former glory. Alas, as I would find out later, this was not the case, and instead of my heroes Caliber Collision were a bunch of DIRTY FUCKING LIARS. But that comes later in the story; I digress. The damage to my vehicle occurred primarily on the driver's side rear door, and insurance and above-mentioned, miserable, hell-bound body shop went back and forth on the repairs for a bit. It was a true, will they, won't they total it moment. In the end, Caliber declared the car salvageable, and I rejoiced to the heavens, all was not lost.
Ah, but Dear Reader, everything was not as it appeared to be. For several years, my vehicle and I were fine and I enjoyed what I thought to be the results of upfront, honest, labor. Until we looked into selling my car, sometime around 2018. What had seemed to be a fortunate lack of frame damage was actually frame damage surreptitiously repaired by Caliber in order to maintain their profit on the other needed work. In other words: some seriously fucked up shady ass shit. Not inconsequentially I might add--this took a roughly $12,000 car to an $8,000 or less one without a word about the FRAME DAMAGE said to the owners of the car or to their insurance. If the frame damage had ever been acknowledged, my trusty vehicle would have been totaled and this would be a much shorter story.
At this point, we logically came to the conclusion of small claims court, with ideally the support of our insurance who had also been cheated out of the cost of the repairs. Dear Reader: if you think there is a logical and happy ending here you are mistaken! Our insurance callously informed us that this was OUR FUCKING FAULT FOR CHOSING THE GODDAMN BODY SHOP and that WE COULD KICK FUCKING ROCKS. And, at the end of the long, tragic day, this went nowhere. Caliber denied any wrongdoing and we wept for my poor, trusty vehicle so woefully mistreated and cheated of the rightful peace it deserved (and-- for our FUCKING MONEY).
Several years pass, and I move to the infamous Las Vegas, Nevada. My vehicle faithfully pushes through thousands of miles of desert, and I begin the process of changing the title and all that nonsense, whatever. Much to my surprise, it turns out that my vehicle, which pulled me over mountains in August of this year, was marked as salvage in FUCKING 2016 and rebuilt from that point. By FUCKING CALIBER COLLISON. So now I must apply for a REBUILT title in Nevada, because my car should have been totaled, but instead of following best (moral) business practices, Caliber sought to make a quick buck (or a few thousand) instead. So there's even more money off my car, and new, particularly fun yearly experiences to remind me of all the delightful times I spent with Caliber Collision McNeil back in Austin.
If you want to waste endless time, lose money, detract the value of your car, and just generally increase the low-level misery in your life, by all means, go to Caliber. If you would like any positive results I beg of you, go someplace else. Hell, buy your niece a plastic toolbox and a real beer and hire her to do it, you'll get better results. Caliber Collision, let's not meet because honestly, who knows if I could drive away in my apparently salvaged car that NO ONE THOUGHT TO FUCKING TELL US ABOUT. read more
