In my experience, Autocraft Bodywerks is not equipped to work on Teslas. After Central Texas's May 2024 hailstorm, my Tesla Y needed major body repair. I went against my better judgment and brought it to Autocraft Bodywerks instead of the Tesla Collision Center; the former had a shorter wait time. The San Marcos shop had my car for *four months* before returning it to me with a slew of problems, mainly an audibly loud wind noise coming from the passenger side, and both right side doors and the trunk not closing without being slammed. The South Austin location then attempted to remedy their sister shop's work (they did manage to repair some of the interior damage that was caused by the San Marcos shop - thank you for that, Tammie), but they did not fix the wind noise or the doors, and in fact there are now two additional external problems - one being the frunk/hood not being properly aligned and the other involving the trunk. It appears that they do not know what they are doing. I don't know how else to summarize my experience. Unfortunately, my insurance paid them upfront and now I'm left with a vehicle that doesn't function properly. I do not recommend bringing your Tesla to them. This is how a body shop or any business should be run! Such an amazing experience working with Tammie at Autocraft. We came to Autocraft under difficult circumstances. We had scraped the side of our rear driver side door on our Model Y pulling into our garage. We took the car to another body shop and they completely botched the job - the paint was a complete mismatch and they had sanded the door down so badly that there were no body lines left. It was completely unacceptable and needed to be fixed. We knew that we needed to take it somewhere that knew exactly how to handle a Tesla and restore it back to factory. Autocraft was exactly what we needed. They concluded that the previous work was so bad that we needed a new door. Once we decided to go with them, they promptly ordered the door for us and got us on their schedule. Tammie and Jaci were amazing. Our insurance initially didn't want to cover this because of the initial botched job, but Tammie fought for us the whole way and ran it all the way up the chain and got it approved. Amazing. Owning a Tesla is expensive, so don't let it surprise you that getting one repaired is also expensive. However, Autocraft took great care of my car and me! They worked with my insurance well and got my car fixed efficiently. I dropped it off before going on vacation and they got it done for me to pick up between getting home and leaving town again. Just wanted to give a recommendation for Autocraft Bodywerks on Roxie Dr. in North Austin. A couple weeks ago I came into my garage a little to close and brushed the door frame on the rear passenger side. I was crushed because I'm a stickler about keeping my cars in mint condition. The other thing was, with the labor shortage, car repairs are taking forever. I also have a Land Rover. Someone hit my in a parking lot last April. Between going through the insurance rigamarole and the back log at Caliber, the repairs on that vehicle were finally completed this month. I've done business with both and have been happy with the end results, so I tried making appointments at Caliber and Service King. They would only take online submissions and Service King let me know that it would be about a month before they would be able to do the repair. Service King gave me an estimate of $1500 and Caliber replied that they needed to see it because it may only be paint transfer that could be buffed out, about which I was skeptical. I tried calling twice to make an appointment and gave up after being on hold for over 15 minutes both times. Initially I had tried to go through Tesla service on the app, but a day later was informed I'd need to go to a body shop. One of the recommended shops was Autocraft Bodywerks, who works exclusively on Teslas at the location nearest to me in N Austin. I was out of town last week, so my first opportunity to call them was yesterday. Tammie, the manager, gave me the option to come in that afternoon. I wasn't free so I made the appointment for this morning. I came in to a very clean and modern reception area, where I waited while they looked at it. After about 10 minutes, Tammie came to let me know that they were pretty sure it was paint transfer and scratches they could buff it out and could do it on the spot if I had a few minutes. Still skeptical that was going to restore my car to the mint condition I desire, I was pleased they were offering an inexpensive option. 10-15 minutes later they pulled my car back up to the front and I was blown away! Not just that, when I asked how much I owed them, Tammie gave me her business card and insisted some positive online reviews would cover it! This was pretty long-winded, but I wanted to highlight this great experience by contrasting it with the recent challenges I've gone through with competitors. Great customer service and quality work. Our Model 3 was beaten up pretty badly after one of the recent hail storms (really extensive damage - only the bumpers were unscathed). Fortunately, we had full coverage. After filing a claim and scheduling a virtual inspection with our insurance adjuster, we started calling various Tesla-certified body shops to discuss quotes and next steps. Naturally, all of them were swamped with hail damage customers. Of the three places I called, only one told us to bring the car in for a look. The rest told us to wait for an initial estimate from the adjuster. While I understood that an initial estimate from the adjuster was a necessary first step (and that no one could really do anything until this step was completed), I decided to go with Autocraft because they told me to bring it in anyway. Their proactive approach, stellar reviews, and all of the positive referrals from other Tesla owners were all the convincing I needed. The car was still drivable, so I swung by and they took a look. In a few short minutes, Tammie performed a walk-around and gave me a ballpark estimate. She knew exactly what needed to happen. As it turned out, her estimate would be accurate. I returned home knowing I'd be back as soon as our insurance approved the repairs. Tammie and her team are really on top of their game. They handled the endless back and forth with our insurance and didn't back down. They told me to keep the car while they dealt with the adjusters (Tammie noted that our insurance company was notoriously slow to work with and advised us to enjoy our car in the meantime). Autocraft kept us informed throughout their insurance negotiations. A month (!) and $22k later, the car was finally approved for repairs. Lots of parts and electronic components needed replacing and repainting while the rest consisted of paintless dent repairs (quite a project). When they were done, they detailed it and everything. Looks as good as the day we picked it up from the showroom. If our Model 3 ever needs work again (hopefully not), I'm definitely going back. read more

After making the appointment, we were told that it would take up to 3 weeks, mostly depending on the insurance company and supply of parts. It did take a long time from May 23 to June 23, however, the insurance company did take 3 weeks to look at the car. From that day forward, Tammy did a wonderful job in getting our MX ready for us in an almost miraculous time. I was in a fender bender earlier this year, in my 2015 Tesla Model S, on which I had done some aftermarket work: tint, chrome delete, powder coated rims, and ceramic coating. My tint guy (Brian Daly, Austin Detailing) recommended Autocraft Bodywerks and I couldn't be happier with the results. The damage was pretty extensive - the entire left side of the car needed repair, including total replacement of the rear passenger door. I worked directly General Manager Tammy the whole time - she was fantastic every step of the way. She was hyper responsive and accommodating to all of my questions, even walking me back to inspect their work along the way. When it comes to my car, I'm a perfectionist - I can honestly say that the car looks better now than it did before the accident. Their attention to detail has been astounding. Paint blending is absolutely perfect. They even took the car back to my tint guy for me to handle tint, chrome delete, ceramic where it was needed, and getting a perfect replacement wheel. I had some battery issues after I got the car back, and Tammy was all over it, working directly with Tesla service on my behalf to get things repaired and sorted out.
