This was one of the most incompetent and frustrating service experiences I've ever had, and it happened before any work was even started. I attempted to book an appointment online, but Caliber's website repeatedly showed no availability, with no alternative guidance. Since this location is directly across the street from Genesis of Alexandria, I physically drove my vehicle over to speak with them in person. At the front desk, I was met by Lidia, who was immediately unhelpful and dismissive. She asked for my appointment time, and when I explained that their own website would not allow me to book one, she simply said I must have an appointment before dropping off a vehicle. When I said I was trying to make one, she then asked whether the repair was through insurance and which insurer. I told her State Farm. She checked her computer and said there was no "assignment," and that State Farm had to assign the claim to Caliber before I could even make an appointment. Standing in Caliber's parking lot, I called State Farm and had them assign the claim in real time, which they confirmed was completed. I went back inside. Lidia still claimed there was no assignment. I called State Farm again, and they confirmed--again--that the assignment was active. At that point, I had the State Farm agent call Lidia directly while I stood in the lobby, still on hold. Only then did Lidia say she would have to "manually pull" the claim from State Farm, that she didn't know when she would get to it, and that in the meantime I was not allowed to leave my car on their lot. This left me in an impossible position: State Farm would not cover my rental unless the body shop process had started. Caliber would not allow me to leave my vehicle. I already had a rental car parked down the street. I was told to remove my car from Caliber's property while they "figured it out." The result: I had to remove my car, return my rental to Enterprise, was denied a ride back, and had to pay for an Uber just to get back to my own vehicle. At that point, I walked away from Caliber entirely. This entire ordeal demonstrates gross process incompetence, lack of customer advocacy, and zero ownership. If a shop cannot handle intake, coordination, or basic insurer communication, there is no reason to trust them with a complex repair--especially on a modern, technology-heavy vehicle. Caliber works closely with insurance companies, and it shows. Based on this experience, they are firmly within the insurer's sphere of influence, not the customer's. I would not trust this location--or any Caliber shop--to prioritize quality, thoroughness, or the vehicle owner's interests. I contacted another body shop immediately afterward. They were accommodating, clear, and professional within minutes. I'll be taking my vehicle there instead. I strongly recommend avoiding this Caliber location. read more

I came into the shop for repairs after my car was hit recently in a rather unfortunate situation. The minute I walked in I was greeted by Lydia who was so helpful in taking my information and connecting me to the right technician. She was so friendly! After my car was assessed, the staff worked incredibly quickly to get the repairs done right away! I asked for a basic paint just to cover the damage. Damian went above and beyond- the car looks amazing, far exceeding my expectations! I cannot thank Damian and the staff enough for their kindness, professionalism, and their great work on the car. Hopefully I will not need another collision repair anytime soon, but if I do I will absolutely be going back to Caliber Collision Del Ray! read more

I wrote the following review, and customer service replied, asking us to reach out. It's been 2 weeks since we reached out to them with no reply or action. Don't trust this place, even their reply was meant to appear as if they care when they don't. Original review stands: stay away! DO NOT bring your car here for repair. Especially because they are prejudice against elderly people and take advantage of them via bullying. My mom recently brought her fully insured Honda CRV into Caliber for a collision repair after being hit by another car. The drivers door was dented from the accident, and while she was there, she had Caliber fix the hind panel that was damaged from a different incident of which she paid for out of pocket. When it was time to pickup the car, my mom received a phone call where they told her they had good news and bad news. The good news was they fixed the damage, but the bad news is that all of a sudden she had a large crack in her windshield that was not there when we brought her car in for repairs. She just had the windshield fixed last year, and when she brought it in for this specific repair, there was no cracked windshield. My mom spoke to a manger and they blamed the windshield wiper as the reason for the crack. Obviously, they cracked the cars windshield, and what's worse, refused to fix it with a really lame excuse. Seems like if something breaks while you are in possession of it, the business is responsible, not the customer. Being 79 years old, there was nothing she could do about them breaking her brand new windshield and not fixing it or owning up to their mistake. Bad business practices! Stay away from Caliber or else you may take your car in for one issue and leave with a costly repair that you weren't responsible for. read more

Calliber replaced my hole front bumper and determined the extent of other front end damage. They did it quick and efficiently, were on top of getting parts and communicating the status all along the way. They coordinating with me and my insurance company and even with the rental car company. They arranged everything so a ride was there when I dropped my car off and I was able to return the car right there at Calliber when I picked up my car. I spent a couple months trying to get return phone call from another body shop that my dealership refers all of their customers to. In contrast, I called and they were ordering parts a day later and followed up to get me in as soon as they arrived. Top notch experience and quality all around. Nice people too. read more

I was in a car accident on July 4th and was able to drop my car off to this Caliber location the next day. Caliber had to replace my back bumper and left rear quarter panel. I got my car back on July 30th so the repairs took 26 days. I used Caliber because they are a verified auto body shop through State Farm, and SF was paying for the repairs. I'm glad I came to Caliber, especially this location. Yes, it took a lot longer than I thought to get my car back but the representatives at Caliber are in contact with you 1-2 times a week and completely transparent about the progress of the repairs. There were even times when I called my representative and she was unavailable at the time but called me back within the hour. I'm very happy to have my car back and 100% satisfied with Caliber's service and work. They even vacuumed the inside of my car before I picked it up. read more

I went here because they are a USAA verified and approved auto shop. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of finding a good place just to do a small repair, and I've generally had a good and trustworthy experience with USAA. I was a little frustrated when they said I would have to wait 3 weeks just to get the damage inspected, but it was only a minor dent so it didn't ruin my schedule that much. Once I got the car in, they were able to make another appointment the next day to bring it in (I couldn't leave it there that day, so that wasn't their fault.) I brought it in on a Monday and got the car back on a Thursday, sooner than I expected! They estimated that the work would take a week, and it was only three days! I'm happy with my customer service experience as well. The folks at the front desk seemed like young/inexperienced employees, but they held a generally professional demeanor and were very helpful and willing to ask for help when they didn't know the answer. The mechanics came out to the front and showed me to my car and gave me a brief overview of their work. I worked primarily with Myra and Reggie, the Manager. Talk about impressive human beings. Myra practically sang with enthusiasm when she called me. She was completely organized and professional. Reggie, the Manager, was professional and enthusiastic. He covered the big picture with me as did Myra. He completed the work in a very timely manner. I can't speak to the quality of their work. Because when I came in with three dents in my car they told me another place could do it for much less money than they could. They told me to come back in 45 minutes and talk to the guy visiting from a shop specializing in small dents. I did, and it worked out great. An honest auto body shop - I love it. I was involved in a second accident at a grocery store that was over crowded and due to my experience the first time around, I decided to bring my business back. I filed the claim through my insurance company and received a call within minutes from Maira at Caliber. She facilitated my vehicle being picked up from my home and emailed me some forms that are needed to begin repairs. With the current crisis, everything remained quick, Efficient and contactless which made it convenient. I was contacted by Ebony who was my service advisor again per my request, daily updates were provided and when my car was ready, the manager and another young man dropped my car off at my home and took the rental back to be returned to enterprise. The people here are so incompetent. I tried to make an appointment to get my car inspected and they told me I'd have to wait over three weeks for an estimate alone but they were able to fix my car today if I brought it in. I asked them how they had time to fix it but not to give me an estimate and they just hung up on me. What a joke. read more

Our insurance company recommended Caliber Collision after our car was rear-ended. We selected their Del Ray location and received an immediate appointment to assess the damage. The Receptionist and Service Advisor were very friendly and informative. We waited while they checked out the car and they gave us a detailed estimate in about 15 minutes. We left the car with them for the repair and they worked out all of the details with our insurance company. A few days later, they called to let us know about some additional damage that was found after they removed the bumper. They took care of adjusting the estimate with our insurance company. During the repair process they called every other day to give us a status report. The work was completed a few days earlier than the estimated date. We inspected the car thoroughly and found the quality of the repair work to be excellent. Every seam around the trunk and bumper was aligned perfectly and the repainted sections were exactly the same color as the rest of the car. It was washed and vacuumed nicely and looked just like new! All of the electronics (backup camera and warning systems) worked perfectly. We will highly recommend Caliber and would use them again. read more

I was referred to caliber by my insurance company for a minor hit and run dent on the front hood of my car. When I called another location to set up an appointment they referred me to the smaller Del Ray location because they were completely booked and because Del Ray apparently specialized in minor repairs. I called to set up an appointment to drop my car off, 2 weeks in advance but when I actually came in on the Monday morning they asked me to arrive, there was no record of my appointment. Nonetheless they took the car, but throughout the entire process I couldn't help but think that absolutely no one there communicated with one other before calling the me for my weekly updates--people would repeat themselves, contradict what someone else had told me earlier, give me unrealistic "promise dates" they couldn't follow through on, and more. This went on for 3 weeks, and thankfully we had a spare car for me to use, but at no time during that period did myself or my parents ever pressure them to finish faster or express any kind of irritation at the amount of time it was taking--it's an old car, I understand that things happen. Anyway, when they called to tell me it was ready I told them that I wouldn't be able to come in till the following morning because my dad was planning to pay the difference and needed to drop me off before work. The receptionist, who'd been my primary point of contact became very hostile and rude over the phone saying that she couldn't believe I wouldn't be able to pick it up when for 3 weeks we had been telling them to "hurry up." I'm not sure where that impression came from, and frankly if anyone should have been annoyed it should have been me and my family who were promised a certain day and not given the car until over a week later. Also I'm not quite sure how one more evening would be such a big deal when the car had been in their possession for almost a month, especially since I told her over the phone I'd be there first thing in the morning to pick it up. It's unfortunate that one rude employee, who doesn't even work on the cars herself, could sour my entire experience with this company that does excellent work, and frankly I wouldn't recommend this location to any of my friends or family because of it. read more

Not only did they do a superb job on the repair, they kept me informed every step of the way - virtually daily - and worked with the insurance company to make sure all costs were covered.
