My wife took our Q5 in to get an estimate on a couple of scrapes that needed to be buffed out. No dents or rust, just a couple of scapes about 6" long. The customer service rep was outstanding, the issue is with the paint crew. The damaged door mirror and damage to the door was fixed. However, they left behind overspray and additional scratches. The service representative told me to go back the next day (Saturday) at 10am to get it fixed. When I arrived on Saturday at the agreed time only the service rep was there, not anyone from the paint crew, so i had to reschedule for Monday. It took about 2.5 hours to get the over spray off and try to improve the scratches they left, I couldn't wait much longer due to having work that day. read more

Avoid at all costs! Terrible customer service. Rude and dishonest about service. Incapable of performing a simple task such as take pictures of a broken taillight. It ain't an ordeal that takes 1.5 months???? Also lied about supply chain issues. I'd like to start by saying that the overall rating of the shop is around 6/10 since the crux of the issues why I needed a repair shop was fixed. However, would I recommend this shop again to someone else? Probably not. I'll try to be brief. 1) Once I arrived home and took a longer look around my car after pick-up, there was still a small (~4inch) scratch under the front bumper. 2) When you open the driver's door, you can VERY VISIBLY tell the paint was not left to dry before they shut it. The paint crumpled and bunched up into globs in the flat surfaces where the door and car frame overlay. 3) I had a white seat cushion on the driver's seat. When I opened the car, the cushion was face down in the passenger's side seat. I flipped it over and saw it was covered in black grease or oil. MY DRIVER'S side seat was covered in black spots of grease or oil too. They didn't put a simple seat cover down, didn't warn me, didn't offer any customer service, didn't offer an apology. I'll spend the next 2 weeks cleaning myself or spend anywhere between $100-$400 paying someone else to clean what could have been preventative maintenance. 4) The same front-desk supervisor who consistently texted me updates with the status of the car (and not as if there were multiple people going between me and the dealer where confusion/miscommunication might be very prevalent) told me TWICE that the car would be ready for pickup and later backpedaled. Messages were texted to me during the work day, then a few hours later said it wasn't ready. The first time I didn't fret. The second time we already pre-arranged for a pick-up time of 5pm. I was initially texted at 12:28pm and I responded at 3:20pm. I left work early for this appointment, didn't have transportation to pick up my car because my husband was gone at the time, and decided on running. Halfway through, the same person calls and says the car repairs are going well, will be ready for pickup tomorrow, the suspension repairs are going well, and it is still earlier than what they promised me. It irked me that he glossed over the fact that this was their second time promising a product pick-up time and essentially lied about it (or lacked the due diligence to just check before sending a text). It irked me he didn't address the initial concern immediately during the conversation. It irked me he tried to sweep it under the rug by hiding behind the other positive updates (that wouldn't have been updates in the first place because they claimed repairs were completed). It irked me he didn't just apologize and bluntly state it was an error on their part. It irked me he tried to make it seem like they were still doing ME a favor by stating it was "still earlier than the original promised pickup time". And it irked me he gave me attitude for clarifying that THEY were not ready despite promises and then *hung up early on me*. Even small gestures such as the bright pink paint marker used to encircle blemishes when you first take your car there weren't wiped off when I picked it up. The same rep WATCHED ME wipe off those markings with my finger yet didn't offer to bring a rag until the second time I found another marking. Let me end by saying that this same establishment had the audacity to hand me a customer survey at the end of the paperwork portion telling me to fill all the answers in the best possible rating before even presenting the product to me. Incredulous. In the end, I rated 3 stars because they completed most of the technical and maintenance issues I had with the car. It was beneficial they had direct transportation to the Enterprise car rental down the road. The care and attentiveness to craft was less than satisfactory as I was left with a scratch and black stains, and customer service seemed entitled when customers pointed out valid issues. I hope they treat future cars with more foresight and future customers with more grace. read more

A wonderful experience with a USAA approved auto-body shop. The quality of the repairs is terrific (like it never even happened), and I was lucky enough to be assigned to Rhonda as my representative. She kept me aware of the progress of the repairs as they were being made, ensured USAA was provided the proper paperwork for their records and even ensured the rental car reservation was taken care of. For all the hassle a car accident can cause for either party, Caliber Collision ensured that the path to get back to the road was as efficient and seamless as possible. Went in for an official estimate (had gotten a quick, eyeball guesstimate of approx. $800 at another shop) and got an old-school, good surprise. The man whom I assume runs the place came outside, looked at where I'd been sideswiped by a commercial van (hit-and-run in DC) leaving the outline of the van's white fender and the black tire, rubbed/scraped into my door. The Caliber guy went back in the shop and got a buffer and some low-grit liquid cleaner. He took about 10 minutes and the marks were gone. "Nothing," he said when I asked how much. He did note that some other shops might have taken both doors off and....etc. etc. Indeed. read more

State Farm recommended this repair shop. I brought my car in for repair on July 18. I received daily updates with an expected completion date Aug 1. On Aug 1, in the morning, the message was my car would be ready to pick up at 5:30. Late in the afternoon I got a call saying they mixed up cars and it would be finished. tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wed. At 6:00 I got a text stating the car would be ready Aug 10. I can't comment on the work quality but I can certainly confirm their repair dates are not reliable. While it's safe to assume that nobody who walks into an auto body repair shop is in a great mood-- as someone who had my new Mazda 3 hatchback home for less than 30 minutes before someone ran into it-- I was definitely on the Extra Cranky end of of spectrum. Someone backed into my parked car after going the wrong way down our one-way street, wiping out a door panel on a car I'd just driven home fresh off the lot (see also: VW King of Gaithersburg review). The person who was driving didn't own the car, so after some quality time with the Alexandria police department, and tracking down the insured, I was beyond frustrated and overwhelmed at the process of getting my newly bought car fixed. Point being, I needed a body shop who was not going to make this any more of a hassle. Enter Caliber. The team at Caliber-Alexandria handled my less-than-sunny situation like pros. Several friends recommended Caliber, online reviews backed up the praise, so I started by calling the shop to get the details. Rhonda Johnson was friendly, reassuring, and professional as she talked me through the whole process. Once she had all my info, an appointment was set up for my repairs to begin. When I dropped the car off for repairs to start, Rhonda walked out with me and thoroughly inspected the whole vehicle, marking the areas for repairs, and also took pictures of the entire car. Once repairs started, I was given timely updates via text and calls, and they also handled final cost adjustments with the insurance company, since the final work went slightly above what the adjuster originally estimated. The Caliber staff was also very helpful with rental car arrangements, and in-general, became my go-to for verifying parts of how the repair process works. I was reunited with my car today, after she stayed with Caliber for her week-long surgery. The car looks great. I was greatly concerned about paint matching, since I've had poor experiences elsewhere in the past. They made sure to remove other panels to make sure everything matched the new door panel and handle. So far, everything I've checked looks flawless. There was a little bit of grime inside the car (the repair process is messy, which I understand), but Rhonda shined those all up as soon as I pointed them out. I feel comfortable in knowing that the guarantee assures that anything that I'm not happy about will be fixed to my final approval. Hopefully I won't have to see Caliber anytime soon again, but if I do, I know I'm in good hands! Found this place after sliding my car into a curb due to icy roads. When we spoke on the phone they said they were backed up and had a wait of a couple weeks, but after bringing my car to them and showing them that it was potentially unsafe to drive (due to damaged suspension components, not just cosmetic) they accepted the car that day and called a rental company to pick me up. They had my car for a little over a week and finished when they said they would. JP was extremely communicative and I received texts and calls almost every day letting me know what the status of my car was. The quality of the work was excellent. They did an excellent job of paint matching the front bumper with the rest of the car. They also stand by their work with a lifetime warranty, if the quality of the repairs degrades over time. I hope I never need their services again, but if I do, I won't hesitate to call them first. read more

They did a good job on my vehicle. They were responsive for the most part. I appreciated Tom for explaining to me why my vehicle was taking a little bit longer to be fixed. He was very helpful. The only thing I didn't like was that there is an app that updates you about your vehicle and when it will be ready; caliber doesn't follow that app though so it gives customers false information-it's best to call the shop instead because the app doesn't hold value. Shop painted my vehicle. (Not insurance claim) In order to do so, they had to remove a strip of molding. When they did, they lost a cap attached to it. When the shop denied having lost it after I clearly noticed it in the pre-inspection photos they tried to hide from me, they still offered to replace the entire molding Bc the cap wasn't sold separately. Didn't make sense to have one new one and one old one, so I asked them to replace the other as well and I would pay for it. So I could have two new moldings. They verbally quoted a price of $180 for the molding before my arrival. They later tried to charge me for the molding ($233) and the labor fees which came to a total of $300 AFTER having done the replacement work. I denied to pay being that they didn't quote either of the prices. After my denial, EJ changed the $233 price to the one he quoted ($180) and told me I'd have to pay this and the labor fees. I denied again because the sales tax didn't change when it should have as well as the total. He left, spoke to Tom (manager) and came back saying I had to pay the initial price of $300. (Guess he was trying to help me, but since I have him a hard time about the tax, he got upset). I denied all of it and asked him to remove the molding. He left for about 15 minutes and came back with Tom to tell me that they didn't want to remove it, so if I'd pay $180 would I be content, I said yes. The labor took 15 mins but I was there for a total of 2.5 hours. The manager (Tom) was very unprofessional and lacked integrity for his workers. I will be writing a google review as well. I would not recommend this shop for anything BUT insurance claims. read more

This is the worst automotive repair shop on earth or as I like to call it a "chop shop". I brought my car in a few years ago after an accident and when I picked my car up the hood had been changed out. The hood looked like a cat had scratched the entire hood up. I didn't notice it until I arrived home and cut on my garage lights. I believe they had me pick the car up in the rain on purpose so I wouldn't notice. They denied it but I knew they had stolen my hood. When I dropped my car off I was told it would be ready in 3-5 days, but it took 2 weeks. Great staff! EJ was great with helping me through the process. Isaiah was EXCEPTIONAL. Isaiah took me from a level 10 down to level 1 with his exceptional customer service skills! I was dealing with an insurance claim and needed a rental while I dropped off my car at Collision Caliber at 4pm on a Friday which was Labor Day weekend. The insurance company was difficult to deal with. Isaiah dealt with the claims person from the insurance company got a me in a rental from a different location from what the insurance company had set up. This place is incredible! I was dealing with the insurance of the woman who ran into my car--the process was seamless. Tommy is incredibly friendly--set up an appointment quickly and explained what the process would be. They send (if you want) daily text updates about their progress. I am kinda sort OCD about such things so it was nice to know they were on track to finish on time. Tommy also called each day to see if I had any questions. Excellent customer service! My car was set to be done late in the day on a Friday. Tommy asked if I would be able to make it down. When I said that I would UNLESS a work meeting ran over and I got stuck in traffic, I'd be there before they closed. He offered to stay until I got there. What? Who does that? Amazing. It wound up not being an issue but the mere offer was refreshing. When I arrived (and at the initial meeting) the staff were incredibly friendly. They clearly enjoy working there. On both occasions they made that I understood the process (first visit) and understood and approved of the repairs (last visit). And what's even better is that their work is guaranteed for the time you own the vehicle. I felt confident that if I missed something I could go back and they'd take care of it. Not only did the outside of my car look new, the inside did as well! How great is that? While I don't wish that anyone finds themselves in need of body work on a car, if it happens, come here. Horrible customer service. Took car in to get some dents and scratches taken care of. They reported to my insurance that it would cost over $7,000 which total the car out. Insurance paid us out for totaling car, and we bought it back. People from this place called me wanting to buy the car ( which looked shady seeing as how it should have only cost a few hundred dollars to fix what I took it in for) when I said no service got even worse. Place should be investigated for their shady dealings, because I'm pretty sure there is something illegal being done here. read more

This place is awesome. I brought my car in for work being done through my insurance and also work I was going to pay for separate from insurance. They worked with the insurance adjuster seamlessly and provided quick/accurate estimates of the work to be done. As the work was being completed I received texts of the progress and estimated completion date. I had a few questions during the process and the tech was happy to answer them over the phone and was very knowledgeable on the process. When I picked up my car it looked like it was washed and cleaned inside and out. Would definitely take my car back here again (although I hope I don't have to). read more

This review is based on my estimate experience, not work they did for me. Because of this experience, I would never have them do work on my vehicle, and would not recommend them to anyone. I went by today for an estimate on light fender damage on my truck from bumping a pole. Walked in, I was greeted by 2 employees, and asked if they could do a quick estimate. The guy behind the counter said estimates had to be scheduled......ok.......I've gone to 3 other places in the past 2 days and all of them have done estimates while I waited, which took about 10 minutes at each place. I thought this was odd, but was up for playing the game, so I asked if they had any open times on the weekend. They don't do estimates / are not open on the weekends I was told. The guy behind the counter then asks another guy sitting behind a desk who is clearly doing nothing if he has time to do a quick estimate. He looks up from his morning daze of doing nothing, says no, and goes back to doing nothing. At that point they asked if I wanted to schedule an estimate, to which I replied I'll have the work done somewhere else. Their reply, "OK". She is the whole reason to use this Caliber over others locations, and over other body shops. The only 1 star review of this place is about poor service from two guys whom I didn't even encounter. Terrible experience. Brand new car got rear ended. They had it for 3-weeks waiting for one plastic part. When it finally shows up I get the call that it's ready. Mind you this means it has been repaired and quality checked. The bumper did not match the car, the exhaust was way lower on the left side and both exhaust tips were crooked. Then while I'm considering letting them try again, I find tape hanging down from the bottom of the car right next to the exhaust. Now I'm thinking I'll have to watch the car while they "try again" so I'm driving and turn on my radio to listen to music and guess what. They stole my iPod too... I'm done... There is no way they will ever see any car I own again. Do yourself a favor and take your car to another facility no matter what their insurance says... read more
