I thought I had already reviewed Cali-Brandon when it was Ciccio Cali, but I guess I never did. Shocking to me because I absolutely love their Hot & Crunchy Tuna bowl. This restaurant is part of the Ciccio Restaurant Group (or CRG) which has multiple restaurants all over Tampa (Daily Eats, Fresh Kitchen, Green Lemon, Taco Dirty, and the list goes on). They started out small in SoHo and have basically built an empire. Okay, I'm exaggerating but they really do have a lot of wonderful restaurants that I have been to and love. Yes, it's a local thing! Anyway, Cali was the first to start the whole bowl concept in the Brandon/Riverview area. Everyone said it would be a fad, but guess what? Now we have bowl restaurants popping up everywhere in Brandon. This is why I had to go back just to be sure that I wasn't dreaming about the quality and flavor. I'm glad I did this just to reacquaint myself to the original. Anyway, the Hot & Crunchy bowl is exactly as I remembered it. I always stick with the original protein which is the marinated and seared Ahi tuna but you can add whatever protein you want. The tuna by itself is full of flavor but the hot & crunchy style just elevates everything up a notch. The fresh cucumber, jicama, scallions, soy sauce, guacamole, crispy tempura onion, toasted sesame seeds, and sriracha aioli make it amazing. Oh and every bowl is under $10. I usually get it with the spaghetti squash but today I got the coconut avocado rice. It added even more flavor. They do suggest sticky rice as the base. To be totally honest, I think I like it best with the spaghetti squash because there already is a lot of flavor even without the base. I love that they even offer spaghetti squash. I know I'd rather have that as a non-carb option instead of just kale or cauliflower rice. Just my preference really. I've also had what was at one time called the Tampanian Bowl that may have been off a daily special bowl menu. That was back in 2015 so hopefully my memory hasn't failed me. I don't know, but it was terrific and had all these yummy Cuban flavors in one bowl. It had mojo chicken and a creamy garlic aioli with crispy garbanzo beans. I don't think they offer it anymore but maybe a bowl can be customized to something close. I've never been good at making my own bowl so I do love that they give you different bowl styles which makes it easier for me to decide. So another thing that I love is that they have 2 entrances. One for pick up orders and another for dine-in. It's so easy to use the app or call in a takeout order. It's ready in 15 to 20 minutes. You walk in, pay, and then sit in one of their many waiting chairs away from dine-in customers. Not many places have that and I think it's great. I felt super comfortable doing that. They also have a very nice outdoor dining area as well. It's at the Winthrop Town Centre so there is plenty of parking. It's super busy but if you don't see any parking in front then you can park in the back. Yes, super busy all the time and that's great. Try it for yourself. read more

Always been a solid spot for good food. For an area like Brandon Ciccios brings a lot of what we lack to the area. They have vegan, dairy free, and gluten-free options. That alone sets them apart from the rest and you can customize any bowl to fit your specific dietary need. If you're looking for something hearty but lower in carbs you can get a generous portion of fresh veggies that don't skimp on flavor and style. However their noodles and rice options are fab! They also have vegan and gluten-free cupcakes made daily. I usually get one for the road or enjoy one with a glass of wine while i wait for my order. I don't venture much outside of their bowls except on the occasional Taco Tuesday. (the place is boomin) My recent fav has been the Sweet and Smokey. I've ordered it the last few times. this restaurant is one of my favorite go to healthy places to eat the food. There is incredible and I love how they offer options such as gluten-free lactose free. They also provide a lot of options to customize your meal and they also have a lot of options to order the service at this restaurant was excellent, if something was wrong, they were able to fix it right away and in return they would give us more than what we have before if something was wrong and the ambience was excellent. I have been a customer of this Ciccio Cali - Brandon location since 2015. The reason for this review is because my family and I went there for brunch last Saturday and had the absolute best experience to date with Anthony. I would like to recognize him for going out of his way to help us, making good food recommendations and for being such an excellent server! My husband and I usually order the same thing, Hot & Crunchy Tuna Bowl and Power Avo Sandwich, which are both yummy, but last time my husband wanted to try something different and Anthony was on point with his advice. I actually wished I had a home at the time to take my leftovers. (I didn't then but I do now.) Fast forward to yesterday. I've been trying or a while now to find this place and I FINALLY just asked my agent what this restaurant was called. We are so happy to have this as a fresh flavorful choice in our rotation. I went to visit family in Brandon, and I had seen a lot of people on Yelp recommending this place so I figured I would give it a try. There was no wait - we were seated almost immediately. They gave us the option to sit inside or outside. I asked our waitress for her opinion on two of the seasonal teas I was interested in trying. I wanted something on the sweeter side, however, the tea she suggested wasn't that sweet so I ended up having to add 2 sugar packets. For an appetizer, we started out with chips and guacamole. Guac wasn't as flavorful as I had expected it to be but it was still good. Chips came out warm. I ordered the Hot & Crunchy Tuna bowl over white rice and my boyfriend got the Napa Blue bowl with the coconut rice. The crunchy onions on top were a little excessive but I think that's what gave the bowl so much flavor. Tuna tasted fresh. This place was an absolute gem to eat at. We finally gave it a try today and I was incredibly satisfied from start to finish. Great service, great vibe, phenomenal food. Everyone was really nice and made sure we were taken! We got 2 bowls and the food tasted 10/10 with the guacamole and steak standing out as excellent. Our waitress Madison was outstanding and quite literally the perfect definition of a great waitress. She even gave us a parting gift as we left! You have been MISSING OUT. I ordered online for pick up at the last minute and I am so glad I did! It was super easy, quick & convenient to order right on their website. This location's parking lot can be a hassle but I found a spot nearby and entered through the specified pick-up door. The restaurant was clean and tidy with a few diners both in and outdoors and a few others waiting to pick up orders. You pick up your order by your first name, which I enjoyed once I figured it out :) They were very quick about getting everyone out with their orders. It took me about 15 minutes to get home and on the way, YALL, I could NOT get over how amazing the food smelled! My entire family was really impressed. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the Spicy Rio Burrito with a black bean tortilla, other choices are flour or whole wheat. It was packed with flavor and big enough for two meals for me. The roasted garlic was also really tasty. Only thing I have to say is they do use chicken thighs so... expect that dark meat grease. It was in fact also a lil spicy, as indicated in the name. My husband was very happy with his Mexican Bowl noting that the steak stood out and was very good. Both kids were full and happy with their meals as well. We will be back. 100%. read more
