Ordered Large Cappy Pizza and Large Greek Salad. Very smooth process to complete the pick up order. Provided an estimated time of 20 minutes, but it was available in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the pizza crust was very tough and difficult to cut with a knife. My mother gave up, and just ate the toppings. My husband, who almost never complains, voiced his concerns with the quality of the crust. He said "I think they cooked this too long by the looks of this crust," and pointing at the backside of the crust. The greek salad was the worst! The tomatoes and lettuce were not fresh, in addition to very large portions of green peppers. We were looking forward to our usual good pizza and salad, but it wasn't in the cards tonight. read more

We went here after going to the movies nearby, as I was living off popcorn as my only source of nutrition for the past seven hours. The first thing I noticed was the cozy, warm interior. On top of that, the music choice that night was great--playing Neil Young, The Beatles, ABBA, and many other great '60s and '70s artists. Remi was our server and was great. You could tell it was a pretty busy night, and she was attentive to every table--we were no exception. We ordered a small (12") New York-style pizza: half cheese (I'm boring, I know) and half with pepperoni, olives, and other various vegetables. I also ordered a draught beer with my pizza--the name is escaping me now, but it was good! We were able to watch our pizza being made fresh from the open kitchen 10-15 feet away from our table. The smell of the pizzas wafting from the kitchen made the whole place smell amazing! Our pizza was out within 10-15 minutes and looked amazing (sadly, the camera did not eat first, and I have no evidence to prove this pizza ever existed other than by word of mouth). My side was the perfect temperature--just below "burn the roof of your mouth" hot--and it was delicious. Remi offered to bring Parmesan, to which I, of course, obliged. There was also oregano at the table, which only added to the great flavors of the pizza. There were two of us, and the pizza was more than enough food for us. We order pizza here a lot and I am always hopeful. The sauce and crust are good and the salads are fresh, however the pizza leaves me feeling ripped off. It's $50 to $80 dollars everytime we eat here. Today it was $55 for 1 large peperoni , 1 small peperoni, sausage, mushroom and onion and a salad. I did not know the second pizza had mushrooms until the second slice. I would really like $20 dollars worth of pizza for my money. Wow! This is the best tasty Chicago deep dish pizza I'm tasted down south that reminds me of my Home style favorite deep dish pizza from Chicago. As soon as I walked in the pleasant aroma of homemade pizza hit you in the face and immediately my mouth began watering so I knew I was in the right place. On my recent visit to Tampa my friend that lives there recommended this pizza joint and we ordered the Cappy's deep dish. Boy was it good and flavorful!! The Marzano Italian tomato sauce and sausage were as close as you can get to tasting like Chicago style deep dish, also the crust in itself has amazing texture and delicious. I'm back home in Houston and I'm still craving this pizza...LOL. If they shipped I would definitely order it. The ambience was very cool. reminds me of an old-school pizza restaurant from the Midwest with the cool Chicago Bears marquee on the wall so I'm sure the owner that owns this place maybe from the Midwest area. I have not tried the thin flat crust so I cannot comment on New York style, but the Chicago style pizza met my expectations because I was very skeptical at first as a pizza snob. If you're from up north, you would like and appreciate this style of pizza. If not, I understand some of the negative comments as this pizza is made with heavy tomatoes and sauce, more like a pie style pizza, which we call "stuffed" from up north. Anyway, the service was great. The staff were very friendly as we waited about 30 minutes for our pizza to be made, which is completely normal as everything is made from scratch. I went twice within the week I found out about this place it was so good, and just happened to be just for Pizza. I'm in the midst of moving with my sister and after a long day of work from building and organizing everything, I just wanted a nice big pizza. This spot was local and had good reviews so I didn't even think twice. I found it cool that not only did that have 2 listed 'options' even though you can really get anything, but they also do Chicago OR New York style!! You don't see that everywhere..The service was amazing and truly helpful both times- we were recognized during my second return. Both times I got the Cappy, Chicago style and both times it was perfectt. Like so yummy, they know how to cook a dang pizza, and consistently. Now I have a new local favorite. Once we arrived, we notice that the decorations inside were really cool. I ordered the Chicago style dip dish Cappy. It was very cheese, huge amount of sauce and very tasty. I have been wanting to come here for a long time but always seemed to be in the area during their closed hours. On a Sunday at 4:30, we found a pleasant table outside for the 4 of us. Our server was super friendly and quickly brought drinks and took Lori orders. My husband and I settled on a small Chicago style made Cappy's way and a large NY style with pepperoni and onion (we like leftovers). Pizzas arrived and I forgot to take pictures so the pictures I have are what we took home. I started with the deep dish and enjoyed the crunchy crust and the sauce. I didn't really taste all the ingredients but the sauce had a nice kick to it. Next was the NY style, which I wouldn't call NY style as it was very thin at all. It wasn't all that much thinner than our deep dish. I think the sauce is more overpowering and again, couldn't really taste the pepperoni and just maybe a slight taste of onion. I only ate 3 pieces as it was very filling. I walked away thinking of 4 stars as it wasn't my favorite pizza, but service was good and I liked the crust and sauce. Summary in a sentence: Cappy's's is a must go. Would someone enjoy traditional old hat, Chicago style pizza? Could you possibly even have asked a Chicagoan? Because the answer would almost always be a yes. That being said, expectations of Chicago-style pizza also apply - thus, we know the difference between "pizza with extra cheese" and pizza pie. So I'm giving this a five, but absolutely not for the quality of the food (which is still a solid 4.5, imo) - but because of the ideal outdoor seating options and vegan options, something few and far between for Chicago. They are happy to make all things vegan - from the bread stics, to the salads, to even the deep dish pizza. But, I digress, it is "deep dish" despite them calling it Chicago Deep Dish. It's about half the height you'd get out of a serious vegan deep dish from somewhere like My Pi (3.141592634, haha!) back home. Sorry folks. Maybe they need to offer a "double deep dish" or something to differentiate between "nice thick pizza" and true deep dish. Which, again, is not something I'd say would detract from the generally positive experience that makes Cappy's worth a visit. The vegan bread sticks are great and worth scooping one or two orders worth, and the chopped salad made vegan is classic with a nice Italian dressing. I did notice a tiny bitterness to the vegan cheese - not sure if a quality issue or by design, but otherwise the pizzas were also great and worth getting. You do pay for a premium topping to get a vegan pizza. For a party of 5 we opted for a large chopped salad, a medium deep dish vegan pizza, two orders of bread sticks and the non-vegans got their own pizza. Cappy's is located in the Winthrop Town Center in Riverview. We discovered this delicious restaurant after many years. Not sure why it took so long but it has now become a favorite spot! The first time visiting we had a regular traditional thin crust round pizza. It was delicious but the star in this restaurant is the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza! After trying the deep dish it's the only pizza we order here. The sauce and the crust are delicious and we are fans! Along with our pizza we always order a Greek salad. They offer a few kinds of salads but we always order the Greek salad. It's so good and the salad is topped with feta cheese. If you're not a fan of all that cheese, do as I and ask for it on the side. The dressing on the salad is amazing. I recently learned they actually sell the dressing! This pizzeria is not huge and it's always crowded for good reason! They have a few tables outside as well. To start our meal, we ordered a large Greek Salad (see picture) to share and we were not disappointed - it was delicious! We ordered 3 pizzas to share (see pictures) - 2 NY Customs and a NY Cappy. We enjoy thinner crusts and found all of these options to be very good - wood-fired edges with plenty of sauce and toppings. A little disappointed that they didn't have ricotta because I think that would have elevated the pizza 10-fold. It was a very solid pizza and the crust was buttery and flaky! The crust is what made it delicious and unique. The sauce was flavorful and it was very cheesy! Even reheated the next day, it tasted pretty good. Our first time here, my dad and I got a deep dish pizza. The crust is incredibly delicious. The sauce is delicious too. The problem was, the other ingredients didn't have enough flavor (or quantity?) to overcome the taste of the sauce. It was basically like eating a chunky tomato sauce pie. I actually thought they forgot to put the cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and peppers on it. Not a problem, we will get a thin crust next time. Unfortunately, they don't use the awesome crust for the thin crust pizzas. They use a crust that is worse than anything I've ever had from a chain like Dominos or Pizza Hut. And the delicious sauce wasn't overpowering this time because it seems like a teaspoon per slice was all we got. It sucked! We will usually have fried eggs on top of our leftover pizza the next day (try it! It's delicious) but this time there were no leftovers because we threw away 5 slices. read more

Finally tried this pizzeria after living in Riverview for 6 years. They are only open for dinner. Cappy's specializes in Chicago Deep Dish pizza. They also make traditional round pizza. You can order either type with all kinds of toppings and in several different sizes. The menu also contains three types of salads, bread sticks, and calzones. We tried the Cappy which is like a supreme. We also tried the Chicago deep dish without any toppings. Both were excellent. I think the deep dish is my favorite. They serve tap and bottle beer as well as soft drinks. There is both indoor and outside seating. The pizzeria is not very large and can get crowded. read more

I was able to taste the cheese sticks while they were still hot, they were so good! I wasn't able to taste the pizza while it was still hot because they didn't cut it *sad face* but once I got home and I was able to reheat it and cut it, it was pretty good.
