Calzone
Krista H.

We were looking for a quick bite & decided to give this place a try. We are so glad we did. The calzone was amazing. Both of us were super impressed. Prompt, friendly service. Next time we'll have to try the pizza.

The bottom small slices should be peperoni , sausage and onion, and mushroom.

We order pizza here a lot and I am always hopeful. The sauce and crust are good and the salads are fresh, however the pizza leaves me feeling ripped off. It's $50 to $80 dollars everytime we eat here. Today it was $55 for 1 large peperoni , 1 small peperoni, sausage, mushroom and onion and a salad. I did not know the second pizza had mushrooms until the second slice. I would really like $20 dollars worth of pizza for my money. The toppings are so sparce I have to add to the pizza everytime.

Wow! This is the best tasty Chicago deep dish pizza I'm tasted down south that reminds me of my Home style favorite deep dish pizza from Chicago. As soon as I walked in the pleasant aroma of homemade pizza hit you in the face and immediately my mouth began watering so I knew I was in the right place. On my recent visit to Tampa my friend that lives there recommended this pizza joint and we ordered the Cappy's deep dish. Boy was it good and flavorful!! The Marzano Italian tomato sauce and sausage were as close as you can get to tasting like Chicago style deep dish, also the crust in itself has amazing texture and delicious. I'm back home in Houston and I'm still craving this pizza...LOL. If they shipped I would definitely order it. The ambience was very cool. reminds me of an old-school pizza restaurant from the Midwest with the cool Chicago Bears marquee on the wall so I'm sure the owner that owns this place maybe from the Midwest area. I have not tried the thin flat crust so I cannot comment on New York style, but the Chicago style pizza met my expectations because I was very skeptical at first as a pizza snob. If you're from up north, you would like and appreciate this style of pizza. If not, I understand some of the negative comments as this pizza is made with heavy tomatoes and sauce, more like a pie style pizza, which we call "stuffed" from up north. Anyway, the service was great. The staff were very friendly as we waited about 30 minutes for our pizza to be made, which is completely normal as everything is made from scratch. So if you're familiar with the deep dish style of pizza or if not give it a try as the flavors are result of fresh ingredients which one would like if you're a foodie like me!

I went twice within the week I found out about this place it was so good, and just happened to be just for Pizza. I'm in the midst of moving with my sister and after a long day of work from building and organizing everything, I just wanted a nice big pizza. This spot was local and had good reviews so I didn't even think twice. I found it cool that not only did that have 2 listed 'options' even though you can really get anything, but they also do Chicago OR New York style!! You don't see that everywhere..The service was amazing and truly helpful both times- we were recognized during my second return. Both times I got the Cappy, Chicago style and both times it was perfectt. Like so yummy, they know how to cook a dang pizza, and consistently. Now I have a new local favorite. Prices are a little high, but I'm okay with it.

This was my first time trying this restaurant. Cappy's is located in a nice area with plenty of parking spaces. I went with a group o friends. Once we arrived, we notice that the decorations inside were really cool. I ordered the Chicago style dip dish Cappy. It was very cheese, huge amount of sauce and very tasty. Unfortunately, it took a long time to get the order (almost 50 minutes). It was understandable since they have a lot of people, but that was too much. I'll go again, but probably I'll call and pick it up.

I have been wanting to come here for a long time but always seemed to be in the area during their closed hours. On a Sunday at 4:30, we found a pleasant table outside for the 4 of us. Our server was super friendly and quickly brought drinks and took Lori orders. My husband and I settled on a small Chicago style made Cappy's way and a large NY style with pepperoni and onion (we like leftovers). Pizzas arrived and I forgot to take pictures so the pictures I have are what we took home. I started with the deep dish and enjoyed the crunchy crust and the sauce. I didn't really taste all the ingredients but the sauce had a nice kick to it. Next was the NY style, which I wouldn't call NY style as it was very thin at all. It wasn't all that much thinner than our deep dish. I think the sauce is more overpowering and again, couldn't really taste the pepperoni and just maybe a slight taste of onion. I only ate 3 pieces as it was very filling. I walked away thinking of 4 stars as it wasn't my favorite pizza, but service was good and I liked the crust and sauce. It moved down to 3 stars when I was up all night with a bad stomach.

Cappys for family dinner night and they did not disappoint. Ordered over the phone had a bit of a wait time but when I got there my order was ready to go. I asked politely for a side of basil and the gentleman at the front got me not one but two which I appreciate very much! The pizza was delicious everyone loved it and the cheese bread is always a hit.

Summary in a sentence: Cappy's's is a must go. Would someone enjoy traditional old hat, Chicago style pizza? Could you possibly even have asked a Chicagoan? Because the answer would almost always be a yes. That being said, expectations of Chicago-style pizza also apply - thus, we know the difference between "pizza with extra cheese" and pizza pie. So I'm giving this a five, but absolutely not for the quality of the food (which is still a solid 4.5, imo) - but because of the ideal outdoor seating options and vegan options, something few and far between for Chicago. They are happy to make all things vegan - from the bread stics, to the salads, to even the deep dish pizza. But, I digress, it is "deep dish" despite them calling it Chicago Deep Dish. It's about half the height you'd get out of a serious vegan deep dish from somewhere like My Pi (3.141592634, haha!) back home. Sorry folks. Maybe they need to offer a "double deep dish" or something to differentiate between "nice thick pizza" and true deep dish. Which, again, is not something I'd say would detract from the generally positive experience that makes Cappy's worth a visit. The vegan bread sticks are great and worth scooping one or two orders worth, and the chopped salad made vegan is classic with a nice Italian dressing. I did notice a tiny bitterness to the vegan cheese - not sure if a quality issue or by design, but otherwise the pizzas were also great and worth getting. You do pay for a premium topping to get a vegan pizza. For a party of 5 we opted for a large chopped salad, a medium deep dish vegan pizza, two orders of bread sticks and the non-vegans got their own pizza. Everyone ended up taking at least a couple slices home.

Cappy's is located in the Winthrop Town Center in Riverview. We discovered this delicious restaurant after many years. Not sure why it took so long but it has now become a favorite spot! The first time visiting we had a regular traditional thin crust round pizza. It was delicious but the star in this restaurant is the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza! After trying the deep dish it's the only pizza we order here. The sauce and the crust are delicious and we are fans! Along with our pizza we always order a Greek salad. They offer a few kinds of salads but we always order the Greek salad. It's so good and the salad is topped with feta cheese. If you're not a fan of all that cheese, do as I and ask for it on the side. The dressing on the salad is amazing. I recently learned they actually sell the dressing! This pizzeria is not huge and it's always crowded for good reason! They have a few tables outside as well. The restaurant is only open for dinner and I believe the hours are: Mon-Thurs 5-9pm Fri & Sat 3:30-10Pm Sun 3:30-9Pm The staff and all the young servers are all excellent and extremely sweet.

Excellent NY pizza! Very fresh. Was totally surprised to walk in and find this gem. We left Acropolis as the wait time wasn't conducive to our plans.

4.6* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 5* Would I go back / Recommend?: 5* (Definitely) Total check/person: $20 05/20/2024 My Dad was up for pizza for dinner, so we looked around the Riverview area and chose Cappy's Pizza. The exterior of the building was a clean, modern brick facade with decking on the upper levels giving it a bit of a European / New Orleans feel. The interior was full of classic agricultural and automotive signs from yesteryear and was well-lit. To start our meal, we ordered a large Greek Salad (see picture) to share and we were not disappointed - it was delicious! We ordered 3 pizzas to share (see pictures) - 2 NY Customs and a NY Cappy. We enjoy thinner crusts and found all of these options to be very good - wood-fired edges with plenty of sauce and toppings. A rock-solid pizza shop that I would recommend and look forward to a return. If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow.

The best Chicago pizza in the area. Always a hit, and the salads are very good as well. They desperately need to offer delivery though.

I have eaten in the restaurant and also take out from the New Tampa location. Both were excellent quality and good value for the money.

Does Cappy's deliver? And is it through an app?

Delivery is through GrubHub. I don't believe Cappy's has an app, just their website. I call my orders in for curbside pickup.

If you're looking for legit wood-fired pizza in Brandon, Pizza Rock is absolutely worth a stop. I…read moreordered The Butcher's Pizza and the first thing that stood out was the crust--crispy on the bottom, chewy in the right way, and cooked perfectly. They're using a New York-built wood-fired oven with a rotating turntable, so the pizza is constantly moving while it cooks, and you can taste the difference. The cheese melts evenly, the edges get that beautiful fire-kissed char, and the whole pie has that true fire-roasted flavor. The experience inside was just as good as the food. The restaurant is extremely clean, there's a ton of space (great for families or groups), and the staff was super friendly. They took time to talk with me and shared the Brandon location opened in 2018, and that they had to complete special training/certifications to even qualify to buy and operate that oven. You can tell it's a family-run business with real pride and passion behind what they're doing. Even the pizza box is a cool touch--nice branding and attention to detail. Only small critique: I just wish The Butcher's Pizza had a little more topping coverage. Flavor was great just could've used a bit more "loaded" factor for a butcher-style pie. Overall: solid pizza, amazing crust, great people, and a clean, welcoming spot. I'll definitely be back.

Good food, immersive environment, smooth jazz-yes, this was worth growing up for. Joia is comfy and casual enough for the family-but also sleek and sophisticated enough for date night or girls night out. It has a roomy bar area to the left when you come in, with extra high tops. I almost sat there-but since it was my first visit, I opted for the dining room-which is actually several different areas, making the space even more inviting and sort of intimate. I'm clearly crushing on the vibe of this place... and the food lives up to the atmosphere. The complimentary bread is so tasty you don't even need the oil and spices that come with it, but they're tasty, too. I came hungry and ordered the fried cheese as an app. It's excellent... pillowy bites with soft, super shredded cheese on top (like snow). Ohhhh, so good. Now, I'll admit, I was full after this. But Joia has been on my list for *years... and I didn't want to risk not getting the chicken piccata. Ohhhh, I'm so glad I did! It comes with mushrooms and spaghetti with the same lemon sauce. So, so good. My server Sheila was excellent-so friendly and easy to talk to. She made me feel like a regular-and knows the menu inside out. They have a 2-for-1 martini special, Tuesday-Friday, 4-7. Parking is plentiful (Joia is in a shopping plaza, at 301 and Gibsonton) and there's covered patio seating. The live music was so smooth and just the right volume. Honestly, I can't wait to go back. It feels like a special occasion going there, but it's not priced that way. I've gotta bring friends and family here... often.

There's an option to sit at the bar or at the tables they have available. My friends started with Shirley Temple, which they liked. One of them also had the jolly apple martini, which she raved about! They had a great two for one deal, which they have multiple days through throughout the week. We started off with the bruschetta, calamari, and crabcake sliders. All three of the appetizers were a hit at the table! The calamari was cooked to perfection. The crab cake sliders were bursting with flavor. We then moved on to our entrées, which were spaghetti, gnocchi with vodka sauce, and Margherita pizza. We all enjoyed our flavorful meals for the most part. The only downside would be the gnocchi with the vodka sauce. They don't give you much gnocchi, but there's a lot of sauce. The gnocchi normally comes in a Bolognese meat sauce, but because I don't eat meat, I asked for a different sauce not knowing I would be charged for it, and the unfortunately the waitress never stated that. I wasn't too fond of that since it didn't have meat, which means I was charged for both sauces. Other than that, it was a good experience, and hope to go back again one day.
