Delicious pizza at Cappy's!! The place is small about 5 tables outside and maybe 7 more inside or so. Service was great! Friendly and attentive. They offer traditional NY style crust and a deep dish. We got the pepperoni deep dish and split the Large Cappy which had all the toppings. Also got a salad to start and a small one was enough to split it between 2 people! Super good overall, I loved the pizza and salad alike. Will come back!!

We were looking for a quick bite & decided to give this place a try. We are so glad we did. The calzone was amazing. Both of us were super impressed. Prompt, friendly service. Next time we'll have to try the pizza.

We order pizza here a lot and I am always hopeful. The sauce and crust are good and the salads are fresh, however the pizza leaves me feeling ripped off. It's $50 to $80 dollars everytime we eat here. Today it was $55 for 1 large peperoni , 1 small peperoni, sausage, mushroom and onion and a salad. I did not know the second pizza had mushrooms until the second slice. I would really like $20 dollars worth of pizza for my money. The toppings are so sparce I have to add to the pizza everytime.

I went twice within the week I found out about this place it was so good, and just happened to be just for Pizza. I'm in the midst of moving with my sister and after a long day of work from building and organizing everything, I just wanted a nice big pizza. This spot was local and had good reviews so I didn't even think twice. I found it cool that not only did that have 2 listed 'options' even though you can really get anything, but they also do Chicago OR New York style!! You don't see that everywhere..The service was amazing and truly helpful both times- we were recognized during my second return. Both times I got the Cappy, Chicago style and both times it was perfectt. Like so yummy, they know how to cook a dang pizza, and consistently. Now I have a new local favorite. Prices are a little high, but I'm okay with it.

Wow! This is the best tasty Chicago deep dish pizza I'm tasted down south that reminds me of my Home style favorite deep dish pizza from Chicago. As soon as I walked in the pleasant aroma of homemade pizza hit you in the face and immediately my mouth began watering so I knew I was in the right place. On my recent visit to Tampa my friend that lives there recommended this pizza joint and we ordered the Cappy's deep dish. Boy was it good and flavorful!! The Marzano Italian tomato sauce and sausage were as close as you can get to tasting like Chicago style deep dish, also the crust in itself has amazing texture and delicious. I'm back home in Houston and I'm still craving this pizza...LOL. If they shipped I would definitely order it. The ambience was very cool. reminds me of an old-school pizza restaurant from the Midwest with the cool Chicago Bears marquee on the wall so I'm sure the owner that owns this place maybe from the Midwest area. I have not tried the thin flat crust so I cannot comment on New York style, but the Chicago style pizza met my expectations because I was very skeptical at first as a pizza snob. If you're from up north, you would like and appreciate this style of pizza. If not, I understand some of the negative comments as this pizza is made with heavy tomatoes and sauce, more like a pie style pizza, which we call "stuffed" from up north. Anyway, the service was great. The staff were very friendly as we waited about 30 minutes for our pizza to be made, which is completely normal as everything is made from scratch. So if you're familiar with the deep dish style of pizza or if not give it a try as the flavors are result of fresh ingredients which one would like if you're a foodie like me!

This was my first time trying this restaurant. Cappy's is located in a nice area with plenty of parking spaces. I went with a group o friends. Once we arrived, we notice that the decorations inside were really cool. I ordered the Chicago style dip dish Cappy. It was very cheese, huge amount of sauce and very tasty. Unfortunately, it took a long time to get the order (almost 50 minutes). It was understandable since they have a lot of people, but that was too much. I'll go again, but probably I'll call and pick it up.

I have been wanting to come here for a long time but always seemed to be in the area during their closed hours. On a Sunday at 4:30, we found a pleasant table outside for the 4 of us. Our server was super friendly and quickly brought drinks and took Lori orders. My husband and I settled on a small Chicago style made Cappy's way and a large NY style with pepperoni and onion (we like leftovers). Pizzas arrived and I forgot to take pictures so the pictures I have are what we took home. I started with the deep dish and enjoyed the crunchy crust and the sauce. I didn't really taste all the ingredients but the sauce had a nice kick to it. Next was the NY style, which I wouldn't call NY style as it was very thin at all. It wasn't all that much thinner than our deep dish. I think the sauce is more overpowering and again, couldn't really taste the pepperoni and just maybe a slight taste of onion. I only ate 3 pieces as it was very filling. I walked away thinking of 4 stars as it wasn't my favorite pizza, but service was good and I liked the crust and sauce. It moved down to 3 stars when I was up all night with a bad stomach.

Cappys for family dinner night and they did not disappoint. Ordered over the phone had a bit of a wait time but when I got there my order was ready to go. I asked politely for a side of basil and the gentleman at the front got me not one but two which I appreciate very much! The pizza was delicious everyone loved it and the cheese bread is always a hit.

Summary in a sentence: Cappy's's is a must go. Would someone enjoy traditional old hat, Chicago style pizza? Could you possibly even have asked a Chicagoan? Because the answer would almost always be a yes. That being said, expectations of Chicago-style pizza also apply - thus, we know the difference between "pizza with extra cheese" and pizza pie. So I'm giving this a five, but absolutely not for the quality of the food (which is still a solid 4.5, imo) - but because of the ideal outdoor seating options and vegan options, something few and far between for Chicago. They are happy to make all things vegan - from the bread stics, to the salads, to even the deep dish pizza. But, I digress, it is "deep dish" despite them calling it Chicago Deep Dish. It's about half the height you'd get out of a serious vegan deep dish from somewhere like My Pi (3.141592634, haha!) back home. Sorry folks. Maybe they need to offer a "double deep dish" or something to differentiate between "nice thick pizza" and true deep dish. Which, again, is not something I'd say would detract from the generally positive experience that makes Cappy's worth a visit. The vegan bread sticks are great and worth scooping one or two orders worth, and the chopped salad made vegan is classic with a nice Italian dressing. I did notice a tiny bitterness to the vegan cheese - not sure if a quality issue or by design, but otherwise the pizzas were also great and worth getting. You do pay for a premium topping to get a vegan pizza. For a party of 5 we opted for a large chopped salad, a medium deep dish vegan pizza, two orders of bread sticks and the non-vegans got their own pizza. Everyone ended up taking at least a couple slices home.

Cappy's is located in the Winthrop Town Center in Riverview. We discovered this delicious restaurant after many years. Not sure why it took so long but it has now become a favorite spot! The first time visiting we had a regular traditional thin crust round pizza. It was delicious but the star in this restaurant is the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza! After trying the deep dish it's the only pizza we order here. The sauce and the crust are delicious and we are fans! Along with our pizza we always order a Greek salad. They offer a few kinds of salads but we always order the Greek salad. It's so good and the salad is topped with feta cheese. If you're not a fan of all that cheese, do as I and ask for it on the side. The dressing on the salad is amazing. I recently learned they actually sell the dressing! This pizzeria is not huge and it's always crowded for good reason! They have a few tables outside as well. The restaurant is only open for dinner and I believe the hours are: Mon-Thurs 5-9pm Fri & Sat 3:30-10Pm Sun 3:30-9Pm The staff and all the young servers are all excellent and extremely sweet.

The exterior of the building was a clean, modern brick facade with decking on the upper levels giving it a bit of a European / New Orleans feel. The interior was full of classic agricultural and automotive signs from yesteryear and was well-lit. To start our meal, we ordered a large Greek Salad (see picture) to share and we were not disappointed - it was delicious! We ordered 3 pizzas to share (see pictures) - 2 NY Customs and a NY Cappy. We enjoy thinner crusts and found all of these options to be very good - wood-fired edges with plenty of sauce and toppings. The food was fantastic. The Cappy was the best pizza and the aroma in the car was killing bus til we could get home to eat it. Chicago style was crunchy on the bottom with the perfect amount of toppings and sauce. Next time I reheat the leftovers, I will cook in the oven. The crunchy bottom was not crunchy after microwaving. read more

Our new go to pizza spot! Hands down the best in Riverview! The fact that I ordered ahead, let them know that I was an hour away and as I pulled up my order was just coming out the oven made my shed a tear! The pizza was piping hot still even 20mins later as I got it home. Cheesy breadsticks, don't miss those either! I love how this place is also tucked in the back of a shopping plaza. Feels like if you know about it, you go. But if you don't, you walk right by. People, stop in!! The service is always great, clean and the food is great!!! read more

We have enjoyed Cappy's Pizza many times both to go pick up and in the restaurant. We had the deep dish one time and it was good but their New York Style is my favorite and their crust is delicious! My favorite toppings here are pepperoni, bacon and sausage but always love just a good ole plain pepperoni as well and The Cappy is always a good option as well. We have only tried their Greek Salad a d it was delicious, will definitely get again but the Greek Salad especially the dressing at ABC Puzza is Stull my absolute fave. Service fir to go and dive in is always fast and friendly. The dine in area is small but very clean and cute and they also have nice outdoor seating available as well. Cappy's is a store for us when we are in the mood for pizza! read more

It's the perfect little place on a Friday night after work with family or a Saturday evening with friends, or even, as I found out, a great option when an out of town friend arrives as we were under hurricane watches (rainy and windy outside, cozy and delicious in!) Update: March 26, 2020 I returned last night to pick up my favorite pie. They had set up the cutest little table outside for curbside pickup, due to the coronavirus pandemic. They had an awesome set up, complete with wipes for everything, and little condiment cups of their signature bubble gum, offered at the end of each meal. I just love this place! read more

This is one of America's great pizza places. I've been to every state in the US except one, and had pizza in most of them; if your favorite pizza style is Detroit/Chicago then you'll be hard pressed to find a better one than this. In Detroit specifically I've probably had pizza at ten different places and I'm not sure any of them are better than Cappy's. The staff is always friendly, it's always clean, the food is of course always great, and their selection of craft beer, while minimal, is much appreciated, as many pizzerias don't have any. read more

The delivery was prompt, and the pizza arrived hot and fresh, as if it had just come out of the oven. The crust was the perfect combination of crispy and chewy, and the toppings were fresh, abundant, and bursting with flavor. If you're a fan of the heartier Chicago deep dish, Cappy's nails it! What impressed me most was how well everything held up during delivery. Often pizzas can suffer from the travel, but not Cappy's. It was like dining in the restaurant but from the comfort of my home. I appreciate the care and quality Cappy's Pizza puts into their food and service. They've earned a repeat customer in me, and I highly recommend them to anyone in Tampa craving an excellent pizza night at home. read more

My family and I love cappys. We've been coming here since they first opened. We wish they were opened earlier than they are. My boys are extremely picky with their pizza and they always request Cappy's. We drove 25 minutes to pick up or dine in. I've been to all their other locations and they are just as great. Gotta have my good old Chicago style deep dish pizza. Went on a Sunday night and was disappointed on the lack of attentiveness on our servers part. Waited for half hour for the pizza and the dough seemed undercooked but was still good anyway. Next time I'll ask them to make sure the dough is well-done. read more

I ordered and picked up two pizzas last night from the S. Tampa location. Pizza has way too much cheese and was very oily. My cheese pizza came with pepperoni that I didn't order or want. My anchovy and 1/2 meatball pizza was beyond disappointing. read more

Hands down this has got to the BEST pizza I have ever tasted in my entire life. I ordered a medium size Cappy's Chicago style deep dish pizza. I placed my order for pickup by phone because I could not find a way to order online if that is an offering. Anyhow, great phone ordering process with followup text confirming my order and pickup time and final text when my order was ready. And then to taste that fabulous pizza, yummy, yummy, yum! Great pizza, great service from start to finish. I shall return! read more

I was not expecting to find Chicago Deep Dish pizza in the Tampa area. I was not expecting it to be amazing! The sauce, made from actual tomatoes and not a "paste". The crust does not even need the toppings. It is like some amazing bread stick that they decided to turn into a deep dish. The employees were polite, energetic, and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and had a good ambience. Bring a fork and an appetite. Cannot wait to explore the rest of their menu. read more

I go to Cappys once a week, and here's why: 1) I repeatedly see the same employees. They are friendly and welcoming, and remember us. 2) the craft beer fridge has a great selection of the "staples", as well as fresh local options, ciders, low abv options, etc. 3) the Chicago style Cappy is delicious. Lots of sauce, and the buttery, cracker-like deep dish crust is phenomenal. 4) the salads are always a great appetizer. Very fresh and crispy. We love to add feta. 5) the overall feel of the place is just a classic, friendly, neighborhood pizza joint... just like it should be. 6) the small patio is fantastic on good weather days read more

y'all, this pizza was so gooooood. I am a big fan of deep dish pizza and it's been forever and a day since i have found a place that does it justice. after seeing the reviews of this place I wanted to try it for myself. The reviews were spot on. Incredible. Flavorful. Filling. It lives up to the hype. also, really loved how easy it was to order. I called and placed a pick up order. the staff was super friendly. I got a confirmation text with the time it would be ready and the amount owed. Then I got a text when my pizza was actually ready. Very efficient! read more

Food looks and taste delicious unfortunately when eating my salad I discovered a hair. It was short blonde and I have long brown hair. I decided to just not eat the rest of the salad and remain eating pizza. I then was eating my pizza when a curly black hair was crusted to the bottom of the slice. This Chicago girl loves her Chicago-style pizza, and in her search for some of this pizza in the Tampa Bay area she finally found what she desired at Cappy's. I have eaten both the Chicago-style thick crust pizza as well as the New York-style thin crust pizza here at Cappy's and I love both of them (though perhaps slightly biased towards the thick crust pizza for obvious reasons). The thin crust isn't too thin and thick crust isn't too thick - they are making some perfect pies here at Cappy's, especially with their sauce that is a perfect balance of tanginess and sweetness. The dough is delicious as are all the toppings; I love that there isn't a whole pre-made list of pizzas to choose from, rather you choose the style of pizza you want and pile on the toppings from there! Cappy's is a small spot, but it's poppin'; they are really cranking out the pizzas! With it being a small space, the pizza aroma fills every particle of air and I am obsessed with it. Can we bottle the fragrance of Cappy's and make into a Yankee Candle, please? While I wait for that to happen, let me just say that I also love the old-school decorations that are pinned up all over the restaurant along with the 1950's fridge they use to chill their beer glasses. Great food-check. Good food-check. Friendly staff-also check. So far, this has come to be my favorite pizza spot. Holy pizzeria!!! I so NOT a pizza girl so when the hubby said "Cappys " I was like "eh, ok... I'm sure they'll have other stuff on the menu" It's sooo cute inside. Lots to look at... we even played some trivia that they made available at the table while you wait. I ordered a small New York style with extra cheese, meatball & basil........ I ate THREE slices!!! Unheard for me..... it was super delicious! I'm looking forward to my left overs tomorrow. The staff was very friendly and welcoming! Oh and the bathroom is clean and cute! read more

Always order for take out and just recently just dined in for the first time. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff. The pizza here is amazing and always taste fresh. If that's not enough to tempt you, then you must check out the dessert menu. I saw items such as Matcha Cheesecake and Vanilla Crepe Cake that definitely caught my eye. I'm already thinking about my next lunch order. I love the rebranding and the new menu. The service is still great as well as the ambiance in the dining area. It's a place that will always keep me coming back for more. Update: Get the Kimchi Shrimp Udon. It's that Korean inspired udon dish that almost tastes Italian. Absolutely delicious! Freedom & Nevaeh were both so very helpful. Thanks to both!

This is our favorite pizza place in Riverview. We always order the large pepperoni New York style and an order of breadsticks. it's been consistent and delicious each time. The price is pretty good for the size of pizza, about $12 for a large. The breadsticks are about $3-$4. The dough and ingredients are good quality and don't taste like chain pizza places. You can tell it's very fresh and hand made. We are definitely fans of Cappy's. read more
