We loved finding this place! Hidden in the outskirts of midtown by ivy on the building it was such a great thing to finally find it! The location is great, the atmosphere was fun and relaxed and the food was fantastic! Great food, great vibes, great times. Solid bathroom but only one.

Small menu but enough that there should be something for everyone if you like Italian food. Nice wine list and a full bar with specialty cocktail menu. It's a "midtown" hipster kind of place. Sitting inside or out. Friendly staff. Only 2 things that bugged me the music was to loud and had a hard time finding the place as it is set back of the street and sign is covered in ivy. Almost just went somewhere else.

Not exaggerating when I say this was one of the best dinners I've ever had. Drinks, food and service was 10/10. Our server Lydia was so fun and elevated the whole experience. We got the meatballs, steak frites and carbonara and everything was incredible. Such a lovely spot for date nights or with a group of friends!

I would probably give a 3.5 but I'll round up because I don't think a 3 is justified. This was my first time here, as well as the rest of our group. We wanted to try a new restaurant to celebrate our yelp elite badges for the year, as we are all elites. Our group was 5. The parking was hard which is not a fault of the restaurant, however does dictate my opinion if I would likely be back. Unfortunately with so many great dining options in town, it does make it hard to want to go somewhere if it takes 15 minutes just to find a parking spot. There was some paid parking nearby though! The restaurant was so cute. 5/5 for vibes. Gorgeous! I was the last to arrive and all of my table already had their drinks but it took forever for the waitress to come back and get my drink order. which was a testament to our service the rest of the night - very slow. At first the restaurant was pretty full so it was more understandable but by the end of the night we were close to the only table left but our service did not improve. I ordered the pesto gnocchi which although was delicious, was such a small portion. Everyone else at my table had a much bigger portion for their meal. I left still feeling hungry and almost stopped at a drive through on my way home. We also had bread and butter and fried dough as apps. The butter was so delicious, definitely stood out for our dinner. However the bread was very boring and didn't come with much. Just seemed like normal white bread. For the equality of the bread, I was surprised that the bread wasn't free with dinner. I would expect more for bread you have to purchase. We ordered cannolis for dessert but did not get a free one for the birthday girl which I was surprised because they did ask if we were celebrating anything. Overall it was good food but service could be improved and portion sizes could be adjusted.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Reno! Always walked by it and have always wanted to go, and we finally did! It was so good! I order the Kabocha Squash Ravioli, the Supplì, Caesar Salad and Cannoli's! Wow! The Kobocha was out of this world! So flavorful and wanted more after I ate it! Pairing it with the wine was perfect too. I love the feel of the restaurant. It made our date cozy and romantic, which was what I was hoping for. The service was excellent. The waitress was on it and very helpful when I had questions about the menu. It was great to hear it was all homemade pasta. Love that. I highly recommend this place.

What we ordered: - 3 Supplí: The fried exterior is crispy and interior is very cheesy. It is good, but I have never had something like this before so I can't compa - SPAGHETTI squid ink, shrimp, scallops, lemon zest: The shrimp was seasoned perfectly, and honestly one of the best tasting shrimp I have ever had. I love the texture of the spaghetti as well. If was my first time trying squid ink, and I like the combination of salty with everything else on the plate. Definitely will get this again! - PAPPARDELLE MUSHROOM RAGÙ: Pasta was perfectly al dente, and the mushrooms are bouncy. - Tiramisu Cheesecake: Love the creaminess of the cake and flavors of tiramisu. Parking was a struggle especially being on a Friday evening and being in midtown. When we walked in, it was very cosy and soon someone sat us at a table. There is bar seating as well, but I did not see the back and there is not a lot of seating in the front. The lighting is very nice especially with the mini lamps at each table. It was a rainy and cold day, so it was very cold inside the restaurant because the doors are open. I saw people wearing their puffer jackets! If there was a way to keep the cold out during the cooler days would be nice. It gets very loud too since it is a small space. Our appetizer came out fairly quickly and it took longer for the main dishes. Service was good. I would love to come back and try the other items on the menu!

Great design and atmosphere with excellent service and flavorful, well seasoned, food. The lemoncello martini was sweet and well mixed, the bread and butter was excellent, the meatballs were savory and delicious, the pesto gnocchi was perfectly cooked and the pesto was sharp, and lastly the cherry bourbon ice cream was divine and the best dessert to conclude an amazing dinner. Will definitely be back again!

Came here on a Friday night around 7 pm to celebrate a friend's birthday with a girls' dinner, and it ended up being such a perfect choice. Even though they do not take reservations, we were seated pretty quickly, which was a pleasant surprise for a busy Friday evening. The restaurant itself is adorable and feels like a charming little house that has been transformed into an intimate Italian spot. There is an open kitchen, which adds to the experience, and the space strikes a really nice balance between elevated and genuinely warm. It feels like true dining in the heart of Reno, thoughtful and cozy without feeling pretentious. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and honestly loved everything. The pickled seasonal vegetables were bright and refreshing and a great way to start the meal. The meatballs were tender and comforting, the suppli were crispy and rich, and the fried seafood was light and well executed without being greasy. We also shared the bruschetta, which was simple, fresh, and nicely balanced. For mains, we had the gnocchi al pesto and the rigatoni with beef ragu. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy with a vibrant, fresh pesto, and the beef ragu was deeply flavorful and hearty without being heavy. Both dishes felt well thought out and satisfying. We ended the night with the crème brûlée, which was the perfect birthday dessert. The custard was creamy with a beautifully caramelized top and just the right amount of sweetness. What really stood out was how the meal encouraged you to slow down and enjoy the moment. This is the kind of place where you take your time, engage in conversation, and savor each course. There is also a really cute outdoor area, and I can already tell it will be an amazing spot in the summer. Overall, this was a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday. Great food, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and an experience that felt special from start to finish. I cannot wait to come back.

This has been on my list to try for quite some time so we had a girls dinner here! The ambiance is cute and cozy with modern decor. The staff was nice but we were not checked for very long periods of time. I enjoyed my limoncello martini which was basically a lemon drop. We ordered some bread and butter which was so tiny but I will say their sage butter was amazing. I ordered the squid ink spaghetti and I honestly wasn't impressed. The noodles were not cooked all the way so they were kind of hard. For the price, I can't say 3 pieces of shrimp and 2 pieces of small scallops was worth it. The flavor was nice and light though. The cannoli order was so tiny and also not worth the price. They were okay. For a cutesy atmosphere dinner, it's a good spot but I can't justify the price for what you get unfortunately. I left still hungry.

We had a girls night here because none of us had ever been! Street parking can be hard to find, especially in the evenings when nearby businesses are busy with the dinner crowd. The place is quite small but we still got a table around 7pm without a wait. Our group had 5 but they don't reservations for groups under 8. Cocktails are actually cheaper than a glass of wine here which I found surprising. They were out of mint for a Hugo Spritz so I got an Aperol Spritz instead which was nice! However, it took longer than expected to get our drinks. We ordered a few apps, the bread + butter and the fried dough with truffle Parmesan. The butter stole the show--you can clearly taste the fresh sage! I got the squid ink spaghetti for my meal. Portion size was large but there were only about 3 shrimp (tail still on) and 2 scallops which didn't seem like much seafood to me. The pasta was a little more firm than I would have liked but the flavors were good. I felt like the lemon zest was more noticeable than the seafood flavor itself. They make the pasta fresh in-house each day and you can tell it is well-made. I'm glad I got this entree because some of the others were on the smaller side. My friend was celebrating a birthday and we got some small cannoli to celebrate; I was surprised they didn't give the birthday girl hers for free but they did sing to her which was nice. The chef came out to check in with us towards the end, something we really appreciated it since I'm sure he was quite busy. The service from our waitress could've been better, it felt like we were waiting around for a while at certain times--most noticeably for drinks at the start and the check at the end. We weren't in any hurry since it was girls night but we did spend over two hours here which easily could've been closer to an hour and a half if service was faster. There were a few things that could have been improved but I still enjoyed my first time dining here!

Loved sitting outside and people watching. Great spot in midtown! Pastas are all home made and sooo good! We got fried mushrooms to start. Italian margaritas were 10/10!

Really enjoyed my dinner at this long-time Midtown gem! I've walked by it countless times, and finally got to try it out. They do not accept reservations unless your party is 8 or more, so I do suggest getting there early. Our party of two arrived a little before 6 on a Friday, and while there weren't any tables available, we were about to grab the two open seats at the bar. The bartender told us it was only her second day, but she killed it! All the staff members that I observed and encountered were excellent. The food was AMAZING. You can tell the pasta is made in house, and I appreciate the rotating menu. It feels like you're in someone's home, it's quite cozy. An extra Christmas bonus - carolers came and sang just outside the door during our meal! I've already recommended this place to friends and family.

A lovely evening spoiled by terrible service…read more.. Friends had commented how much they loved La Strada, so we were eager to give it a shot. A small group of 6, we had reservations for 5:30 on a Wednesday evening. This should not have been a particularly busy time. Situated in the Eldorado Casino, the entrance to La Strada does not capture just how big and spacious the restaurant really is. Beautiful decor and hand painted frescos, the environment conjures up images of old Italy. With our early seating, our party was able to take advantage of "the early bird special" which included a starter (soup, salad or Ravioli starter) and a dessert, all for the price of the entree alone. Our evening started with a friend ordering an Old Fashioned. Prepared tableside, he was offered a few options of whiskeys. Once selected, the server put on a show, pushing smoke into a decanter. I don't know if this was his intent, but the two ladies sitting closest to the server were absolutely innundated with smoke, leaving their clothes polluted with the smell of a chimney. Once prepared, the smell of smoke in the drink was unmistakeable. My friend said and I quote, "this is absolutely the worst Old Fashioned I have ever had. Completely undrinkable". We passed around the glass and I will say the smell of smoke alone kept me from trying it. What a waste. Moving on to the food, our starters were "fine". Everyone ordered salads. Nothing remarkable. They were fine. Now I will say, for the most part the food was quite good. I ordered the Chicken "Mattone" which was a boneless half chicken, in a delicious sauce. It is normally served with Calabrian Style Roasted Potatoes but I passed on the potatoes, opting for more Brocolini. The Brocolini was prepared to perfection. My entire meal was fresh, deliciious and prepared perfectly. My wife ordered the Salmon. Her fish was prepared perfectly. The outer edge had a nice snap to it and the fish was moist and flaky. Delicious. It was served Smashed Potatoes, which I have to say were not my favorite. I would have preferred either roasted potatoes or just plain mashed. One of my friends orderd the Risotto with Scallops. A generous serving of Risotto, the meal looked great. Unfortunately, my friend said the dish did not compare to the last time he ordered it, on this night, the dish was soft and gummy. Not good. Unfortunately, the big spoiler of the evening was the service. Coming early mid-week, I would have expected better service. Our server, while pleasant, would often disappear, leaving us in need of refills and a general feeling of inattention. On one of the rare occasions he did stop by, my friend asked for another "Gin & Tonic". Simple enough. I don't know if he just forgot but the second drink took forever to come. Once done with our meals, poor service continued with taking forever yet again to get some boxes and finally get the check and run the credit cards. All in all, it was so unfortunate that an otherwise lovely evening was spoiled by bad execution. There are better options for fine Italian in Reno. Sorry La Strada, you are a pass.

We arrived at 5 pm as soon as they opened, and three people were there waiting outside..they headed to the bar, we headed inside the restaurant. They gave us a nice table of two in the back and the music was amazing with a serious old school feel...I think finding a restaurant that still embraces the past is getting harder to find these days. Our waitress brought some fresh bread to the table as we ordered two beers from the menu. I noticed that this Yelp does not have wine listings anywhere, so I snapped some photos for wine lovers to get an idea on selection and price point. I admit that I looked at the actual menu and already knew what I wanted before I stepped foot in the restaurant....ricotta filled ravioli in a butter sage sauce....yes please! Hub thought he was going to get the fettuccini, but at the last moment went for the spaghetti bolognese. Both our dishes arrived and they looked amazing...Hub was taken by surprise that two meatballs were on his dish...I guess we didn't read the details, but the sauce was still heartily filled with meat...and he ended up eating the meatballs anyway. Both of us cleaned our dishes. As we got the final bill, we applauded the waitress with how much we liked it, and she informed us that the owner was back there doing all the cooking. By the time we left, nearly the whole restaurant was full by 6pm....on a Tuesday...Wow!

Situated on 4th, just off of McCarran, Johnny's is easily accessible from the West side of town. There was plenty of parking, which was nice. The restaurant has a old school vibe to it. Rich dark woods and a broody air to it. Legit. On the recommendation of our server, we started with the Garlic Bread. OMG. Was this delicious. A must order in my book. We also had the Polenta Pomodoro e Carciofo. Delicious Polenta, formed in a loaf then topped with grilled artichoke, tomatoes, mozzarella and topped with a white truffle oil. The Polenta wasn't for everyone but I personally throught it was delicious. The mozzarella gave the Polenta a rich savoriness that I enjoyed. The Artichoke brought a nice finishing taste to the dish. My wife ordered the Petrale Sole. A Grana Padano crusted fillet of Petrale Sole served with lemon-cream sauce, accompanied with angel hair pasta with fresh tomatoes & basil. I sampled the Sole, it was light, flavorful and delicious, with a nice snap of the outer crust. Nice. One friend ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. You know you're in an authentic Italian restaurant when the pasta is homemade. Served with housemade fettuccine with generous serving of butter, cream, & Grana Padano Cheese. Then topped with hand grated Mozzarella. This dish sounded and looked amazing but if I'm being honest I would have preferred a more creamy finish to the Alfredo. The dish (sauce) just seemed very heavy. Another friend had the Spaghetti Bolognese. For an Italian restaurant to be good, you have to do the basics to perfection, in my humble opinion and Johnny's did not disappoint. While I did not personally try the spaghetti with meat sauce. The couple sharing the dish seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Of course, the Spaghetti is homemade. Another dish was the Pollo al Raggio. A breaded boneless chicken breast with lemon, capers, mushrooms then topped with a white wine sauce and served with penne marinara. Johnny's does just a great job with breaded dishes. A nice crispiness on the initial bite but the meat is still delicate and juicy. Now I appreciate that I was at an Italian Restaurant but what can I say, I wanted a steak. The Steak is a 12 oz Certified Angus Beef N.Y Steak aged for 28 days, then marinated in olive oil & herbs and served with a creamy polenta. I gotta say, this was one good steak. Cooked to perfection, it was perfect. Chef's Kiss. It was nice to finish my meal with the same delicious Polenta that we started the evening with. Celebrating a birthday on this evening, a generous portion of desserts were ordered. Starting with the Tiramisu. I gotta say this was a really good Tiramisu. Sometimes bakers can get carried away with the Chocolate. My compliments to the Chef, this was the perfect blend of Lady Fingers, espresso and brandy and then finished with delicate dusting of chocolate and a proper dollop mascarpone. Next was the Pecan Ball. We had such high hopes for this dessert. Vanilla ice cream rolled in pecans and covered with hot fudge. In the end, this was nothing to write home about and way too expensive for what you got. This will be a hard pass for our next visit. The birthday girl ordered an Affogato. Which is Vanilla ice cream with a shot of hot espresso. If you enjoy that espresso flavor, this is the dessert for you. I don't like talking badly about the wait staff because they are the amongst the hardest working people. That said, for an elegant restaurant with the history of Johnny's, I was expecting more. Our waitress, while always polite just seemed a bit annoyed that she had to take care of us, like she was doing us a favor. We told her that we were celebrating a special birthday, asking if the birthday girl would get a complementary dessert. "We don't do complimentary desserts here". Okay fair enough. Often its not what you say but how you say it. Johnny's you can do better. Reflecting on the evening, everything was quite good. For a restaurant of Johnny's stature amongst the locals, I gotta say I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, the food and desserts were all quite good, but I just wanted a bit more.

We ordered a glass of the house chianti and it was amazing! I had the mushroom ravioli's and a house salad for an extra $3 which was well worth it! My favorite part is the homemade bread!! Absolutely delicious and Rebecca brought us more straight out of the oven. I love hot bubbly bread!!! The service is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect especially after traveling all day with delays! The prices are good and plenty of parking! Next time you're thinking Italian think Zozo's, you'll be glad you did.

Quality/Quantity - Our friend's favorite Italian…read morerestaurant, so we ALL frequent it more and more often. And our group keeps getting bigger. Today's appetizers, all of which were really good: Meatballs - Huge, more than enough to share! Even with 7 of us. We all got a bite. Calamari - Fried well, decent portions. I think I ate most of this dish. Love me some calamari! Toasted Focaccia Bruschetta - Hit for our group. I enjoyed it also, but the calamari was still my favorite. Complimentary Bread - So good!! Always a favorite. We always have to get seconds. If you want 3rds, it comes with a $4 upcharge, but that is still worth it in my book. House Salads - Nothing special, but also not bad. Fresh, decent quantity, and with dressing on the side. Two Cesar Salads - Our guests enjoyed this. $5 upcharge each. Cups of Minestrone Soups - Good. Cup of Egg Drop Soup - One of our guests wanted to try this; $5 upcharge. Linguine & Clams - Both in white and red sauce. My choice was the red sauce. I kept forgetting that this comes with BABY clams as I prefer larger clams, and actually if it was still in the shell, that would be an extra plus. NOTE to self, do not keep getting this... Eggplant Parmigiana - Home run, both ladies that got this loved it! Huge slices of eggplant. Baked and fried well. Eggplant Parmigiana with Grilled Chicken - WOW, generous portions. I think my wife took ¾ of her dish home... She got another two meals out of it. Sauteed Calamari Steak - This looked good, I might get it next time. Our newest addition to our group. She also took half her entree home. Grilled Prawn Picatta - Not a large quantity, but because all of us (except one) are light eaters, our guest still took half home. Another good entree. I will also add this to my list for next time. Special Chicken Pomodoro - Decent portions, my buddy devoured this. He is a good eater. One of the few in our group, lol. Dessert, Tiramisu - This was really good. We should have ordered a second one... And to wash it all down, I got a glass of Italian white wine which I really did not enjoy... Atmosphere - Double storefront. We seemed to always end up sitting in the second room but not today! I liked that they had a bar in each room. Table, booth, or bar seating. Two unisex restrooms. Plenty of parking. See pictures for business hours. Open 6 days a week; closed Mondays. Service - Good. We had a leisurely 2 hour dinner and never felt rushed. We were catching up with our good friends and new friends. Price - $323 + generous tips. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1990 as Davos; we have been customers for a very long time. Glad we are back and introducing our friends to your restaurant. Mid 1990 - Coco Pazzo, then renamed to Panevino. 2000 - Zozo's.

Very happy to find a good lasagna where you can choose from having simple marinara or a bolognese sauce. We chose the bolognese and it was a perfect addition to the cheese lasagna. Plenty of cheese and sauce, the cheese pull was crazy. The veal Marsala was delicious, tender, and had great flavor. The sauce was rich in flavor somewhat lemony with plenty of mushrooms and coated the pasta perfectly. The pasta seemed to be very fresh and had great texture. We arrived 20 minutes after their 5 pm opening without reservations on a Friday and we had the option to choose the bar area which was great for us. The drinks were delicious. The basil mojito was very refreshing. The old fashioned was perfect and traditional. Great waiter and attentive. Helped me choose and offered me a good drink. Good Italian restaurant with a semi casual atmosphere.

One coworker enjoyed her mushroom filled pasta in cream sauce, another coworker had steak and did not care for it--but you're at an Italian restaurant, not a steakhouse. All the dishes were HUGE portions, so you will not go hungry. Pass on the chocolate mousse--it was grainy and unappealing. Service was top notch and made up for some of the meal's shortcomings.
