My buddy and I ordered the beignets and we were surprised by the good quality and taste of them. They came out piping hot and the texture was airy and crispy. I ordered the breakfast burrito for myself and it was a little disappointing. The eggs inside were a little too runny and not much seasoning was present between the filling. Service was attentive, great considering how busy they were for Sunday brunch. This was my first time eating at Cajun Café. I was very excited because I have heard great things. I was very disappointed!! The food tasted fine. But my omelet was the saddest thing I have ever received. I ordered the Ranchero Omelet and it was tiny. I normally get omelets at other restaurants that are double that size. It was pathetic. For $15.95 I got an omelet for the size of a child. I can't believe they price it at that. It's insane to me. I feel I got ripped off. My family liked their sandwiches. I would try a sandwich there if I ever went back because I will definitely not be ordering another omelet, but I hope it's not tiny and overpriced. I see pictures here of other omelets and they are much bigger. I am very upset by the size-to-price ratio. Ridiculous. The managers or owners should check on that. read more

Came in for brunch on a Sunday by myself. Of course there were tons of families and large groups, so I had to write my name down. I stood outside and played games on my phone waiting to be called...nope. I finally went in and was like, um hey, don't forget about me and they put me at this odd bar right next to the kitchen. FYI if you go and are dining alone, you should ask for this so you don't have to wait around. I had some kind of blackened lemon pork sausage with eggs and a biscuit. The biscuit was not very good--fluffy in some spots, hard in others, but they have a lot of jelly choices? Cajun Kitchen has been our place to go for over 5 years. My husband got there before us since we know it's always busy and he had to go to work. We waited over an hour to get seated and they skipped us a couple times even when I let them know we would take a booth (they always seat us in one without a problem). Our turn came to be seated and we ordered our drinks and I tried to ask if my husband could order because he had to go to work, the waitress ignored me. Our drinks were brought out 10 minutes after someone took our order and we gave them more time before deciding to catch someone to let them know we were leaving because our toddler was crying at this point (she was hungry) and my husband had to go to work. We didn't even get to finish our drinks. As a an experienced server I would suggest you organize your employees more. I've gotten better service when the floor was being ran by our 3 regular servers than over 5+ employees you had this morning. It's not okay to skip on your customers, It's not okay to not acknowledge your customers. It's not okay to charge for drinks we didn't even get to finish or enjoy with our meal. We're definitely taking our service over to A-Host. We shouldn't have to wait almost 2 hours for drinks, had we waited we would've been having breakfast past noon. If you can't control your floor please stop taking tables until everyone is taken care of. Service was neglectful, was literally just in there and left before we could even order. It's unusual for us to get this kind of service from here. It wasn't too busy everyone in there had been in there for a while enjoying their food already. We were seated and another family was seated after us. We were given our menus the server left us to look it over like normal. She came back and we ordered our drinks and she left again. She came back with our drinks and instead of taking our order ( mind you we're completely ready to order our food) she leaves and doesn't come back. Meanwhile the family that was sat after us had gotten their drinks and had already ordered. This server kept walking around nonchalantly talking to her coworkers but kept ignoring us. She'd walk to every other table except ours and refill their drinks & walk back to were the other servers were and just start chatting so finally we decided to just get up and leave. Friends have taken me to two different Cajun Kitchen's and both made my mouth happy. Breakfast is probably my favorite meal and I love a place that can make eggs interesting. The fine folks at Cajun Kitchen have found a way to do it, serving up all the traditional dishes for breakfast, but also several others with a Louisiana influence, like Jambalaya and Eggs. I had an omelet both times (Roz's and the New Orleans) and would happily keep working my way through the remaining omelet choices if I lived near one of the restaurants. Not to mention the Jambalaya and Eggs...again. One of the friends at the table ordered this and it made me wish my stomach was big enough to handle two breakfasts. My family has been here a bunch of times but I had not. They had been telling me that the omelettes and chops and beignets were wonderful...and they were not kidding. My wife and I had brunch here recently. I had a pork chop with two eggs, toast, and home fries. My lovely wife had an incredible bacon/cheese omelette with pancakes and a butt-load of hash browns. And we brought a double order of beignets home for the little ones. The food was great; service was quick and professional, and the coffee is a solid 5 stars. I've eaten there multiple times and normally have no complaint about the food. I always order the Crawfish Etoufee. This time the dish was inedible due to the crawfish and other critters being rotten and vile-tasting. Took one bite and spit it out. Yuck! I paid nearly $22 for a medium bowl of etoufee plus a small glass of juice. Way overpriced given the poor quality and zero ambience. Stopped in for lunch today for what was my second visit to the Cajun Kitchen Cafe. This is a breakfast and lunch place with kind of a mom-and-pop feel. The menu lists traditional hot breakfast items, American lunch staples such as burgers and sandwiches all while featuring Cajun house specialties. The service was phenomenal the whole way through: I was seated as soon as I walked in and the waitress got my drinks and took my order only a few minutes afterwards, even though they were moderately busy. The food didn't take long at all and was served piping hot. The hustle and friendliness the wait staff displayed ought to be the benchmark for customer service. I ordered the Cajun combo which consisted of: gumbo filé, a shared plate of red beans & rice/small salad, and sweet corn bread with apple butter. The gumbo featured chicken, andouille sausage, rice, and chopped fresh green onions. The consistency/texture was spot on however the dish was overall bland, lacking colorful flavor and heat whose food the restaurant's namesake is especially known for. To be fair, they stocked hot sauces in the table's condiment basket, but this really just needed a healthy dose of "Old Bay." The beans & rice side wasn't bad, but again lacked flavor. It could've been straight out of a Taco Bell burrito. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the accompanying salad covered in a watery ranch dressing and capped by an under-ripened tomato. There is no excuse for this considering this is the middle of summer. On a positive note, the cornbread was very moist and the apple butter it's served with actually goes well together. They serve decent portion sizes, however it seems that's their focus; not quality. Overall, I'd liken it to hospital food--I wouldn't refuse to eat it but I wouldn't seek it out either. I think people like it here because it's one of the cleaner 'down-home' places in Lompoc. If you're visiting from out of the area there are much better options for you to consider first. However, if you're just looking to fill up the gas tank with generic slop, then stop on in. Being a middle of the road experience it should get 2.5 stars, but I'll round up due to the exceptional service and cornbread. read more

Came in for a quick bit. We beat the lunch rush by 10 minutes (1045 to 1230). I ordered the crawfish étouffée. It came magma-level hot and I had to wait for it to cool down but worry not! It was accompanied by a piece of cornbread with butter and some apple butter. Cornbread was excellent. The étouffée itself was hearty in rice and flavor and very generous in the amount of crawfish. You could find chunks liberally added. Good looking out on the cook for not skimping on crawfish. The husband ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns. The biscuits are HUGE. Best breakfast food spot in town. I just wish they were open past 2:30 because often times i have a craving for this place and they are closed. The corned beef hash is amazing. It doesn't look like it was slopped out of a Hormel can. Haven't had a bad omelette here either. Coffee is a little bit better than the other spots in town, as in it doesn't taste like earth. But it could be better. Those are my only gripes. Highly suggest this place over the others in Lompoc. read more
