Our daughter-in-law told us about this place. And we told her that we will check it out on our way home. Bob's Well Bread did not disappoint. The pastries we shared were flaky and tasted great. We both got latte's and they were also good. We were the first ones there when they opened at 8am. And the got busy. We would definitely recommend Bob's Well Bread when in Los Olivos, CA.

Today we had a blonde staff who silenced the poor reviews on bad customer service. She was all smiles, overly friendly and chatty and took time with each customer despite the long line. So glad we had a great experience! Giant chocolate croissant, strawberry danish, sausage breakfast biscuit and the infamous purple potato dish. Whole party was happy and full. Plenty of seating inside and out. Nice place to stop on our drive back to OC.

This cafe is an absolute gem! We stopped there for brunch during the week and had an enjoyable experience. While we didn't feel like they were eager to take our order, they didn't have attitude...it was just not a typical friendly welcoming. We ate our food there on their patio adjacent to the cafe, which was a cute area. They have additional patio seating completely outside that also looked cute. The wait time was average, so that's a plus. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant, which came room temperature because it was made previously in the day. They did not offer to warm it up, so I'm not sure if they are able to or not, but next time I will ask because at room temperature it was less than desirable. I feel the same about their glazed pastry; not desirable at room temperature. However, my wife ordered the Egg in a Jar and we are both OBSESSED. That dish alone is what is bringing us back there. I think their freshly-served items are delectable. It was so good I'm still thinking about it a week later. Overall, 4 stars because the food served at room temperature were a bit disappointing, however the cute patio seating and Egg in a Jar is what sold us to come back for more.

Breakfast Sandwich with housemade Turkey patty, arugula, egg and provolone. The cheese was too pungent for me. I couldn't finish it :-/

I love stopping by Bob's Well Bread whenever I'm in the area. Located in the quaint town of Los Alamos. It makes me feel like I'm driving through a western movie set each time. Get here early! It can get pretty busy. There's not much room standing in line waiting to order. There is no menu posted, so come prepared by looking them up online. Paper menus are available at the cash register though. While standing in line you get an opportunity to check out all the delicious sandwiches, pastries and cookies tempting you through the display. Each made with the finest ingredients. No added preservatives here! As for the food, on my latest visit I tried the mushroom toast. The name might fool you unless you looked at the menu. Sautéed seasonal mushrooms in sherry vinegar, crème fraiche, bacon lardons and shallots cover two large house-made biscuits. Not toast as we know, but I'll take homemade biscuits any day! This is a savory, hearty meal that will leave you full and satisfied. My son tried the Egg-in-a-Jar. It's a smaller portion, so just be aware if you have a big appetite. The small jar contains purple potato purée topped with Gruyère cheese, sans the bacon lardons, poached egg, chives and crème fraiche. Served with perfectly charred toast soldiers. He thoroughly enjoyed this! On my previous visit, I tried the turkey breakfast sandwich. It sounded good, but unfortunately it wasn't to my liking. I don't know if it was the turkey or cheese, but it had a weird taste and smell. I just couldn't get passed it. Luckily, I also ordered the chocolate croissant which was delicious! I also enjoy the drip coffee here. Overall, a great spot to check out if you're visiting nearby.

This little bread bakery doubles as a light restaurant as well as a bakery. We normally have a great experience here. Rose wine check Wait in line check check Order breakfast or lunch check check check Pay for said fun-well, you get it. And now we wait. And wait. And wait. Longer than usual, but that's ok. We have conversations galore to catch up on. We noted that the lady who placed her order behind us was walking to her car with a to go box. Wait, huh? . Ok, no biggie. Let them be late. Thanks #MelRobbins Our order finally arrives. My husband's looks great! Mine--I requested salad rather than the potatoes. The cashier had told me no substitutions, but I explained I get migraines from eating eggs and potatoes in the same meal. I never order that. It's considered an allergy for me. I even offered to pay for the salad. "No no" I was told. Ok, thank you very much. My next move would have been telling them to keep the potatoes. Instead I was told I would get the salad. As you can see from my picture, no salad, potatoes on my plate. I am pretty unhappy about this. So when I asked him about this later, him being the cashier. He told me that the kitchen had told him that they were going to do the potatoes and there would be no substitute. The kitchen needs to understand one thing. If people have allergies, the kitchen needs to take it seriously. I have to carry an EpiPen with me for a reason. So do other people with allergies. The kitchen may not believe in allergies, but those of us who suffer for them certainly do. So if someone in the kitchen needs to take a review page on what happens with people who have allergies and what can happen. That was a very bad call on their end. And when the cashier may mention that all of our plates were clean, I told him that my dog could finish the potatoes for me. Gave him a sweet smile, and walked away. Thus is my review of Bob bread.

I'm giving this place five stars because I think of 4.2 is a little harsh. I thought this place was pretty good. Gossip on the street is that the owner is not nice, so maybe that's why? That said, the employees were all really sweet and they did not seem like they had a mean boss, so whatever he may or may not be doing, seems to be working. I hope he's not mean! That would be sad. We ordered avocado toast, and a smoked salmon/bagel platter, a latte and a cappuccino. I ordered an egg poached hard with my avocado toast, and I was pleased. They actually did it right because people have a really hard time getting that one, right. The avocado toast was not over seasoned, it was avocado, not avocado spread, and the sunflower seeds on top threw me off at first, but they were actually a nice touch in the end. The bread was extra good. It was kind of a big avocado toast. It felt more like avocado toast for two, but I crushed it. All by myself. The smoked salmon and bagel seems hard to mess up. They did a good job. I thought it was weird that they didn't toast the bagel though. The coffee was good. Not super memorable good but good. My pet peeve is ordering a cappuccino and it taste like warm milk. This tasted like coffee and foam... The way of cappuccino should taste. We also ordered a baguette for the drive home. It was a little tough, but it was good.

I'd heard some buzz about this place and am so glad we went. We came on Labor Day weekend and luckily got there early enough before the line got huge. I ordered the egg/turkey sausage sandwich on the BEST English muffin I've ever had- soft, chewy, rich. The Egg in a Jar reminds me of Egg Slut but takes it up a notch. The ham and cheese croissant is also excellent; the OJ is fresh, the coffee respectable. I loved the down home community vibe, too. The servers were all super nice and we had a great experience.

Bob's Well Bread is an adorable bakery in the small town of Los Alamos (you can pick up a cute postcard of the city in the bakery!). The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. They have a selection of baked goods and have a variety of menu options as well. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. I normally stay away from breakfast sausages but was intrigued when the menu indicated that their turkey sausage was made in-house. Sure enough, their house-made turkey sausage was some of the best I've ever had! The sandwich was pleasantly simple with the sausage, eggs, arugula, and provolone cheese. I also tried the huevos rancheros and, though it was good, the breakfast sandwich was really the star. I ordered a chai latte as well and didn't realize that it wouldn't have any sweetener, so there really wasn't much flavor there. I would love to come back and try their eggs in a jar which looked simply delicious!

Our new favorite breakfast/brunch place! Got introduced to Bob's by my neighbor 2 months ago and I haven't looked back since. They offer a great variety from delicious baked goods, to breakfast and lunch. Their coffee also beats most of the coffee shops I have been to on the Central Coast! If you expect the traditional American breakfast, this is not the place. However, if you're looking for healthy, delicious, and creative, this is it! Their food and the beautiful, shaded outdoor seatings keep us coming back. Along with their weekly specials that they change every week. We haven't had anything from here that we don't like. Even tho I'm not a breakfast food person, I come here at least 2-3 times/month. Lucky for me, they serve lunch all day long too! Los Alamos is also such a cute little town that you can take a little stroll to burn off some of the calories afterward as well!

2 scones, excellent. 2 muffins, excellent. Sandwich, pretty good... but not sure how my bill was almost $60 though. I wouldn't say it was $60 good. I got a "Philly Cheesesteak" sandwich, came with a side salad. I liked it, but I think I will browse and order a little more frugal next time. Also, I bought 2 dog bones but the clerks didn't bag them up with the rest of my items and I was too rattled and forgot to check. It was BUSY. Will try again for sure.

You order inside at the counter and take the number to your table - both inside and outside seating is available. I got the cinnamon roll, which was pretty good - perfectly amount of sweetness! The Gravlax platter with Eveything bagel was lovely - a great breakfast meal. The Mushroom toast was good - a little too heavy for one person but great to share. It's something you would want to eat after a night of drinking/hungover. The cold brew was average. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area.

Bob's Well Bread is Awesome! We love the small venue out in Los Alamos. We drive 25 minutes from home exclusively for Bobs. My go to is the Gravalax platter (extra toasty) and a Cappuccino with whole milk. Seriously, one of the best Cappuccinos I have had. Their daily homemade bread is amazing. We always grab something to take home. The people serving are outstanding as well. Always friendly and checking to make sure everything went well. The line at the counter is usually 5-6 people deep constantly, but that's just a good sign of a great food/service you'll get here. Will be back soon! Cheers!

A slice of local Americana is found here. Healthy fare that is delicious and satisfying, along with coffees and doughnuts. It is a bakery, after all. In and outdoor seating. I liked sitting under the trees outside and identifying the different fruit trees in their backyard. Stand in line by the bakery case, order, pay and take the #placard to your table. They delivery the food to your table. A must stop.

Inside was equally charming, and the menu more extensive than we imagined, including some vegetarian options. Three vegan chorizo breakfast burritos and one Farmer's Market Roasted Veggie Tartine were ordered. The burritos were more expensive than we are used to from other places we've eaten ($19.00 each), but my husband, who grew up eating non-vegetarian chorizo, insists that this was the best vegan chorizo that he has ever had - it was spicy, oily, and delicious! The kids agreed that their burritos were well-made. My tartine was also delicious and well-made, with quality, fresh ingredients, including the salad greens on the side to absorb the balsamic vinegar. Oh, and we also shared a thick slice of their carrot cake, which was moist, well-spiced, and generous with icing! The staff was very friendly, and it should be noted that we came in at 1:00 and they generously said "we can do breakfast" when we asked about the burritos. :-) Overall, I know that we'll be back again, definitely to try out more of that carrot cake and some of their other pastries!

Take a look at my photos first--the cake and the bill just didn't match. I ordered three items (two…read morecakes and a coffee), but the receipt only listed two, and they weren't even the items I had. I checked the menu and realized the bill was actually for less than I should have paid; it was likely mixed up with the customer sitting next to me, who I remember had ordered a Napoleon. Looking at the prices later, I found the menu quite strange: the Chocolate Eclair is $11.95, while the Napoleon is a dollar less. Anyone who has ever made both will admit that an eclair is much easier to prepare than a Napoleon--in fact, an eclair might be the easiest item in a bakery. It's an interesting pricing choice. This bakery must be very famous; even the AI I used to plan my trip from Pasadena to San Jose recommended it. Since it isn't peak season, I easily found a parking spot on the main street, which was a relief compared to ten years ago when I had to drive in circles to find one. Even in the off-season, there was still a line--not too long, but a line nonetheless. The pastries in the case were all beautifully made and looked delicious. It was difficult to decide, but I eventually chose a Chocolate Eclair and a Danish Waffle. I went with the eclair because it was one of the few Western-style cakes available in my hometown of Shanghai when I was growing up. I've loved them since childhood. Back then, the only other Western desserts we could find were Palmiers, Chestnut Cream Cakes, and cups of whipped cream that you would just eat directly. The eclair tasted excellent, with a texture that was a perfect mix of soft and crispy. The cream was a little oily but still acceptable, and while the whole thing was quite sweet--a bit beyond average--I could still enjoy it. The Danish Waffle looked a bit like a fried Chinese donut, or Youtiao, stuffed with whipped cream, but the outside was actually a light, crispy puff pastry. It was much better than I imagined--crispy without being hard and perfectly baked. The filling was the same cream used in the eclair, combined with raspberry jam. I later realized the Danish Waffle was only $6.25, nearly half the price of the eclair despite being just as good. It's strange that the Chocolate Eclair is the most expensive item in the bakery; it's good, but compared to the Danish Waffle, the price is a bit high. I saw some people complaining that the bakery doesn't have a restroom. When I asked, the staff politely directed me to the nearby park. I accepted the answer, though I can't imagine how they handle the crowds during the busy season. Regardless, this is a five-star experience, no doubt--just be sure to check your bill when you pay. I don't want to pay more than I owe, but I don't want to pay less, either.

My son got an iced Americano and I got a Decaf Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk. Leonel's helped us at checkout and she was also very nice, fast and helpful. After sharing the pastries, I immediately decided to get 1 more of each to-go. They were so FRESH, scrumptious and delicious. High quality pastries made with a lot of love and care! We also got the Berry Fruit Tart that we nibbled at after the meal, but we were already so full. It was also delicious and will taste great as a late night snack later! For our entrées, I got the Turkey and Brie Sandwich but subbed Baguette in place of the Ciabatta bread. OMG, it was AMAZING!!! It came with nicely sliced turkey breast, garlic aioli, baby arugula, triple cream Brie and cranberry-fig compote. All the ingredients complimented each other perfectly and tasted absolutely divine and decadent. I hadn't eaten Brie cheese in a long time and this sandwich really hit the spot! The sandwiches/entrées come with a choice of potato chips or house salad, so I chose the salad. The lettuce was so crisp and fresh, and the vinaigrette was very delicate too. My son got the Blue Crab Crepes and WOW! We were both stunned at how delicious it was. A perfect brunch/lunch item for a cafe like this, and honestly, we have never seen crepes with crab anywhere. It came with Hollandaise sauce on top and it wasn't too heavy or overpowering. Just right. He also got his food with a House Salad. We absolutely loved every second of our experience here at Alessia. There is no parking so you will have to find street parking in the surrounding streets. We will gladly be back anytime we find ourselves in Santa Barbara again! 20/10!

I had the avocado toast with dill cucumbers and eggs, which was beautifully presented and very flavorful. My husband had a croissant sandwich with egg and fillings, which he thought was good, and we also shared a pistachio croissant that we both really liked -- it was thick, generously filled, and delicious. The only small thing was that our coffees arrived about 10 minutes before the food, which isn't ideal for breakfast since I usually like to have them together. But when I mentioned it to the staff, they were very accommodating and kindly held the coffee until the food was ready, which I appreciated. The staff were friendly, the food was great, and the overall atmosphere made for a perfect Sunday brunch. It is a bit on the pricier side, but that's also quite normal for Santa Barbara.
