Our daughter-in-law told us about this place. And we told her that we will check it out on our way home. Bob's Well Bread did not disappoint. The pastries we shared were flaky and tasted great. We both got latte's and they were also good. We were the first ones there when they opened at 8am. And the got busy. We would definitely recommend Bob's Well Bread when in Los Olivos, CA.

Today we had a blonde staff who silenced the poor reviews on bad customer service. She was all smiles, overly friendly and chatty and took time with each customer despite the long line. So glad we had a great experience! Giant chocolate croissant, strawberry danish, sausage breakfast biscuit and the infamous purple potato dish. Whole party was happy and full. Plenty of seating inside and out. Nice place to stop on our drive back to OC.

This cafe is an absolute gem! We stopped there for brunch during the week and had an enjoyable experience. While we didn't feel like they were eager to take our order, they didn't have attitude...it was just not a typical friendly welcoming. We ate our food there on their patio adjacent to the cafe, which was a cute area. They have additional patio seating completely outside that also looked cute. The wait time was average, so that's a plus. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant, which came room temperature because it was made previously in the day. They did not offer to warm it up, so I'm not sure if they are able to or not, but next time I will ask because at room temperature it was less than desirable. I feel the same about their glazed pastry; not desirable at room temperature. However, my wife ordered the Egg in a Jar and we are both OBSESSED. That dish alone is what is bringing us back there. I think their freshly-served items are delectable. It was so good I'm still thinking about it a week later. Overall, 4 stars because the food served at room temperature were a bit disappointing, however the cute patio seating and Egg in a Jar is what sold us to come back for more.

Breakfast Sandwich with housemade Turkey patty, arugula, egg and provolone. The cheese was too pungent for me. I couldn't finish it :-/

I love stopping by Bob's Well Bread whenever I'm in the area. Located in the quaint town of Los Alamos. It makes me feel like I'm driving through a western movie set each time. Get here early! It can get pretty busy. There's not much room standing in line waiting to order. There is no menu posted, so come prepared by looking them up online. Paper menus are available at the cash register though. While standing in line you get an opportunity to check out all the delicious sandwiches, pastries and cookies tempting you through the display. Each made with the finest ingredients. No added preservatives here! As for the food, on my latest visit I tried the mushroom toast. The name might fool you unless you looked at the menu. Sautéed seasonal mushrooms in sherry vinegar, crème fraiche, bacon lardons and shallots cover two large house-made biscuits. Not toast as we know, but I'll take homemade biscuits any day! This is a savory, hearty meal that will leave you full and satisfied. My son tried the Egg-in-a-Jar. It's a smaller portion, so just be aware if you have a big appetite. The small jar contains purple potato purée topped with Gruyère cheese, sans the bacon lardons, poached egg, chives and crème fraiche. Served with perfectly charred toast soldiers. He thoroughly enjoyed this! On my previous visit, I tried the turkey breakfast sandwich. It sounded good, but unfortunately it wasn't to my liking. I don't know if it was the turkey or cheese, but it had a weird taste and smell. I just couldn't get passed it. Luckily, I also ordered the chocolate croissant which was delicious! I also enjoy the drip coffee here. Overall, a great spot to check out if you're visiting nearby.

This little bread bakery doubles as a light restaurant as well as a bakery. We normally have a great experience here. Rose wine check Wait in line check check Order breakfast or lunch check check check Pay for said fun-well, you get it. And now we wait. And wait. And wait. Longer than usual, but that's ok. We have conversations galore to catch up on. We noted that the lady who placed her order behind us was walking to her car with a to go box. Wait, huh? . Ok, no biggie. Let them be late. Thanks #MelRobbins Our order finally arrives. My husband's looks great! Mine--I requested salad rather than the potatoes. The cashier had told me no substitutions, but I explained I get migraines from eating eggs and potatoes in the same meal. I never order that. It's considered an allergy for me. I even offered to pay for the salad. "No no" I was told. Ok, thank you very much. My next move would have been telling them to keep the potatoes. Instead I was told I would get the salad. As you can see from my picture, no salad, potatoes on my plate. I am pretty unhappy about this. So when I asked him about this later, him being the cashier. He told me that the kitchen had told him that they were going to do the potatoes and there would be no substitute. The kitchen needs to understand one thing. If people have allergies, the kitchen needs to take it seriously. I have to carry an EpiPen with me for a reason. So do other people with allergies. The kitchen may not believe in allergies, but those of us who suffer for them certainly do. So if someone in the kitchen needs to take a review page on what happens with people who have allergies and what can happen. That was a very bad call on their end. And when the cashier may mention that all of our plates were clean, I told him that my dog could finish the potatoes for me. Gave him a sweet smile, and walked away. Thus is my review of Bob bread.

I'm giving this place five stars because I think of 4.2 is a little harsh. I thought this place was pretty good. Gossip on the street is that the owner is not nice, so maybe that's why? That said, the employees were all really sweet and they did not seem like they had a mean boss, so whatever he may or may not be doing, seems to be working. I hope he's not mean! That would be sad. We ordered avocado toast, and a smoked salmon/bagel platter, a latte and a cappuccino. I ordered an egg poached hard with my avocado toast, and I was pleased. They actually did it right because people have a really hard time getting that one, right. The avocado toast was not over seasoned, it was avocado, not avocado spread, and the sunflower seeds on top threw me off at first, but they were actually a nice touch in the end. The bread was extra good. It was kind of a big avocado toast. It felt more like avocado toast for two, but I crushed it. All by myself. The smoked salmon and bagel seems hard to mess up. They did a good job. I thought it was weird that they didn't toast the bagel though. The coffee was good. Not super memorable good but good. My pet peeve is ordering a cappuccino and it taste like warm milk. This tasted like coffee and foam... The way of cappuccino should taste. We also ordered a baguette for the drive home. It was a little tough, but it was good.

I'd heard some buzz about this place and am so glad we went. We came on Labor Day weekend and luckily got there early enough before the line got huge. I ordered the egg/turkey sausage sandwich on the BEST English muffin I've ever had- soft, chewy, rich. The Egg in a Jar reminds me of Egg Slut but takes it up a notch. The ham and cheese croissant is also excellent; the OJ is fresh, the coffee respectable. I loved the down home community vibe, too. The servers were all super nice and we had a great experience.

Bob's Well Bread is an adorable bakery in the small town of Los Alamos (you can pick up a cute postcard of the city in the bakery!). The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. They have a selection of baked goods and have a variety of menu options as well. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. I normally stay away from breakfast sausages but was intrigued when the menu indicated that their turkey sausage was made in-house. Sure enough, their house-made turkey sausage was some of the best I've ever had! The sandwich was pleasantly simple with the sausage, eggs, arugula, and provolone cheese. I also tried the huevos rancheros and, though it was good, the breakfast sandwich was really the star. I ordered a chai latte as well and didn't realize that it wouldn't have any sweetener, so there really wasn't much flavor there. I would love to come back and try their eggs in a jar which looked simply delicious!

Our new favorite breakfast/brunch place! Got introduced to Bob's by my neighbor 2 months ago and I haven't looked back since. They offer a great variety from delicious baked goods, to breakfast and lunch. Their coffee also beats most of the coffee shops I have been to on the Central Coast! If you expect the traditional American breakfast, this is not the place. However, if you're looking for healthy, delicious, and creative, this is it! Their food and the beautiful, shaded outdoor seatings keep us coming back. Along with their weekly specials that they change every week. We haven't had anything from here that we don't like. Even tho I'm not a breakfast food person, I come here at least 2-3 times/month. Lucky for me, they serve lunch all day long too! Los Alamos is also such a cute little town that you can take a little stroll to burn off some of the calories afterward as well!

2 scones, excellent. 2 muffins, excellent. Sandwich, pretty good... but not sure how my bill was almost $60 though. I wouldn't say it was $60 good. I got a "Philly Cheesesteak" sandwich, came with a side salad. I liked it, but I think I will browse and order a little more frugal next time. Also, I bought 2 dog bones but the clerks didn't bag them up with the rest of my items and I was too rattled and forgot to check. It was BUSY. Will try again for sure.

You order inside at the counter and take the number to your table - both inside and outside seating is available. I got the cinnamon roll, which was pretty good - perfectly amount of sweetness! The Gravlax platter with Eveything bagel was lovely - a great breakfast meal. The Mushroom toast was good - a little too heavy for one person but great to share. It's something you would want to eat after a night of drinking/hungover. The cold brew was average. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area.

Bob's Well Bread is Awesome! We love the small venue out in Los Alamos. We drive 25 minutes from home exclusively for Bobs. My go to is the Gravalax platter (extra toasty) and a Cappuccino with whole milk. Seriously, one of the best Cappuccinos I have had. Their daily homemade bread is amazing. We always grab something to take home. The people serving are outstanding as well. Always friendly and checking to make sure everything went well. The line at the counter is usually 5-6 people deep constantly, but that's just a good sign of a great food/service you'll get here. Will be back soon! Cheers!

A slice of local Americana is found here. Healthy fare that is delicious and satisfying, along with coffees and doughnuts. It is a bakery, after all. In and outdoor seating. I liked sitting under the trees outside and identifying the different fruit trees in their backyard. Stand in line by the bakery case, order, pay and take the #placard to your table. They delivery the food to your table. A must stop.

The wine list is primarily Lumen wines, but there are some other local and old-world wines available, and some alcohol-free cocktails and beer too. On our first visit, we tried a Lumen wine tasting flight consisting of a '21 Chardonnay, a '21 Pinot Noir, and a '21 Grenache, and a couple extra pours, like the Escence orange wine and the "Hey Ginger" Pet Nat (check out my separate review for Lumen Wines). FOOD: We've eaten something on all three visits and everything we've tried has been very good. The menu is seasonal, so it's ever changing. The appetizers/entrées we've tried are the Wedge Salad, Kabocha Salad, Grilled Carrots, Avocado Crudo, Channel Island Squid, Steak Tartare, Pico Burger, and Rabbit Carnitas Tostadas. The food is well-seasoned and prepared as ordered. The kitchen seems to work well with the wait staff to coordinate when courses are delivered, so you're not getting everything at once. Food: 5/5 I could probably eat ten of the avocado crudo and the mushroom and madeira. The crudo completely melts in your mouth with the most addicting sauce, and the puff pastries lingered in my mind the entire meal. We had the burrata which was fresh and tasty, the warm french loaf which shocked me how compelling a loaf of bread can be, and finally were graced by the agnolotti which had the perfect amount of lemon that paired so perfectly with the mushroom sauce. Keep in mind, every plate was wiped clean of its sauce with the bread because they were all too good and we couldn't get enough. Also could have had endless "For he's a jolly good fennel" (love the name) mocktale. Highly recommend!

We made a reservation on Open Table just in case because we were VERY hungry. It is a cute place, on the smaller side and has a more modern take on seating. Some tables had couches and others were the traditional chairs/booths. After looking over the menu, we decided to order the focaccia bread, bates burger, and the mac n cheese. The focaccia bread came out with this delicious mascarpone cheese topped with honey and pepper on top. At first, we were a little worried but the blend of flavors were IMMACULATE! We contemplated ordering another one. Next the burger and mac n cheese came out. The burger was a bit dry, and it came out well done when we asked for medium (they ask how you would like it cooked when ordering). The potato wedges that come with it were very good, hot and fluffy. The Mac n cheese was the star of the show. We got the mushrooms on the side since we never had BBQed mushrooms before but they added such a complex flavor with the truffle cheese in the macaroni. We ended the night with their cookie skillet and it came with salted Carmel gelato (the menu says vanilla). She confirmed that the flavor was okay before putting the order in. Overall, we had a good night here and the view was beautiful. Side note: they have you park in the bottom lot if you are only coming for the restaurant and there is a number you call. They pick you up in the golf cart and drive you up! And they offer the same service to come back down! Thank you Alex (unless it was Ally we are arguing over your name) for such a positive energy and personality.

Juicy, thick patty, the brisket was tender and the BBQ sauce was just the enough amount and not overpowering the entire burger. You get a choice of a side salad or fries to go along with your burger and I went for the side salad since as a group we did order the garlic wedge fries (which was not served with wedge cut potatoes but regular fries cut potatoes lol). Not sure if they ran out of those cuts or that's how it is really presented but either way the fries were also delicious and perfectly garlicky. The other orders from our group was the Bates burger which again was delicious. The steak frites were yummy and perfectly cooked. The steak was easily cut and seasoned well. We also ordered the focaccia and that mascarpone with black pepper honey was addicting! I wish we could have had more bread lol. So good! We also ordered the Texas style chili, that too, was wonderful. It was packed with meat and the right amount of beans. Deliciously seasoned and came with a jalapeño corn muffin. We didn't really taste the jalapeño but still a good pairing. I just wish there was more of it. It was served in a big bowl but the serving was very shallow so the look of it can be deceiving as to you're getting a lot but not really. It was shared by 4 people but just not quite enough for hungry people lol. Our other friend got the pan-roasted chicken that did not meet up to his expectations. It was small in portion compared to the burger and did not look very filling. We also got to try the cast iron cookie (made to order so it does take a while to come out) but given it is freshly baked please be careful taking the first bite. It is very hot lol. Again, amazingly chocolatey, gooey and decadent paired with a vanilla gelato on top. 6/7 of the orders were top notch so I'd say it's a win! SERVICE: There was only one server for the entire restaurant. One bartender at the bar. No host/hostess so it took awhile to be seated even with a reservation but not too long of a wait. Our waiter did his best to accommodate everyone and each table given he's the only one serving. He was patient and still very helpful with helping us pick our meals, providing recommendations and answering our questions. He still served everyone with a smile despite how overwhelming it could have been for him. Also, the service of the receptionist of the hotel who can pick you up with a Moke mobile down the hill and up to the restaurant was quick and friendly. She was very welcoming and nice. I loved the service. The food came out in a timely manner except for our cookies BUT again it is made to order and I'm sure takes longer to bake than to make a burger lol so be patient. Lovely service and staff. AMBIENCE: Good amount of seatings inside and outdoors during warmer weather. The outdoors does come equipped with heaters but it was just too cold so most people choose indoors anyway. Super cute, intimate setting with booths, tables and high chairs at the bar. Dimmed lighting throughout the restaurant but they do bring little candles or lamps to light up the table if needed. Super cute and romantic vibe. We visited during holiday season so there was a nicely lit Christmas tree by our table and it made the visit nice and cozy. I've lived in the area for a while now and have always wanted to visit and check out the place. Met all my expectations and more. I judged it by its ambiance and pricing from the menu at first, thinking the food was not gonna reflect the prices and although some are overpriced some are justifiable given the quality of the food. Again, it's a unique experience being picked up by a Moke mobile from the parking lot to the top of the hill where the restaurant is located. There is a shed where the phone number is located to call the hotel for a lift. The food, service and ambience were great. Highly recommend to locals and anyone driving by for a visit! Very instagrammable restaurant AND motel!

I knew it was time to pull the minivan over and feed the animals before they went ferrel. I was on the 101 inbetween Los Olivos and Santa Maria. The Subway in Los Alamos sounded like a GREAT OPTION. I pulled into the lot and right away my kid who is a little bit phycic instanly said, "I don't like this Subway, it feels off". I brushed her aside and said, "No problem this Subway looks nice(She was a little paranoid about Subway since the last one we went into(in Florida) there was a homeless woman who very aggresive about asking for money. This happened inside the store while we were odering.) Anyways I took the orders from the kids and wife and headed inside the Subway. I was confident I was about to solve a problem of family hunger and score a nice sandwich. Once inside the store it was empty and looked pleasent. Things were looking good. The sandwich artist was hard to understand because of the food case. She would not look up while asking you questions. I had to have her repeat herself almost everytime. "Cheese?" Huh? I would respond. "CHEESE?" Ahh Yes. "What kind?" Huh? Yes cheese..... "WHAT KIND?" - it went like this the whole time. I was like how come she is looking down talking into my sandwich. We couldn't hear her at all. Then when we finally made it to sauces. I asked for mustard and she put almost a whole bottle on my sandwich. I was so bummed. But I was like, whaterver I'll eat it. Then she rung us up. WHATTTT!!!!!!! $45 DOLLARS PLUS!!!! I was like WHHHATTT? Did I just go to LUcky's and order the steak sandwich!!! I ordered two footlong subs to share. I was like how is that possible. She said they CHARGE MORE THAN OTHER LOCATIONS!! now you know

Yes but only shredded or pieces. They have no sliced chicken. They offered roast beef as an option. I said ok and said make it a combo. After making the sandwich I was told $16+. I about shit my pants and asked how much a 6 inch roast beef costs. They said $12+. I was absolutely shocked. I don't know how much a 6 inch turkey would have been but anything over $8 is asinine. I decided not to get the combo and should have just walked away but because I'm a decent person I unfortunately paid the $12+. I regret this choice, I feel like I was robbed. I called the subway in orcutt and they said their roast beef was only $9.19. the los Alamos subway is gouging everyone and no one should ever go there. There is another option in Los Alamos and I will always choose another option rather than going to subway in Los Alamos ever again. YOU SUCK
