Tasting: $20, or by the Glass: $20 First visit to this quaint, rustic wine tasting room in downtown Los Alamos. Stephan, the owner/winemaker, poured for us and provided us with his winemaking history. We tasted three wines, a '20 Chardonnay, a '22 Grenache, and a '22 Tempranillo, with revisits of our favorites. All were good, and we left with a couple bottles to add to our home cellar. He also had a couple friends visiting that brought their guitars and had a little folk music jam session, which created a very relaxing and fun ambiance. The week before our visit, they participated in the annual Mushroom Festival where they poured the same wines, however they had a food menu with several mushroom based items which really caught my eye. Definitely something to add to our calendar in the future. Overall, a pleasant experience and nice wines. Would stop in again to check out new vintages. read more

Stopped in on a whim. The 3 wines that were available for tasting were very good. I should have asked what the tasting fee was. We did buy a bottle but the whole experience was expensive. I had to step outside because of my allergies. The garden is beautiful with a lot of Lilly's and succulents. read more

Great service in a peaceful pretty historic town. We stopped here on our way back from SLO and got the flights. We especially loved the Pinot and the shiraz. The owner was very knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time sipping and relaxing on the beautiful patio. Dog friendly too! read more

I rarely leave reviews but here it goes. Made an impromptu stop at this charming tasting room in Los Alamos on our way through to charge the car. The gentleman who helped us (who turned out to be the owner) was so engaging, kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, educated, and the list goes on... We tasted 4 wines and were impressed with each, especially the Tempranillo and Grenache. They have a great outdoor patio space. All in all, it was a very enjoyable punctuation to our trip, next time it will be the destination. read more

Stopped in to listen to some local musicians. We just wanted to share one glass of wine. My husband got one glass of Chardonnay while we enjoyed listening to them. Sadly when we left we were charged $20,00 for one glass of wine. The bottle would have been $42.00 so maybe a mistake? Either way, we won't be back. read more

Wonderful experience at Bedford, had a fun time and learned a lot about Santa Maria Valley wine. Would highly recommend, the wine is amazing whether you're into white or red. Pinot Gris is particularly spectacular. read more

Lovely winery with the most delightful owner/winemaker (Stephan) and wine. We stopped here without an appointment or really even intending on doing a tasting before lunch, but Bedford Winery did not disappoint. We left with 5 bottles - one of everything we tasted, including one we did not. Very interesting, smooth and easy drinking wines. I especially liked the Dear Prudence Chardonnay, even though I'm not usually an oak aged kinda gal. I will most definitely visit again. A great, and unexpected spot. read more

Nice, low key tasting room with a shaded outdoor section adorned by succulents and other vegetation . It's a small operation. I had my 65th Birthday party there. Stephen and Katie were great host! We asked if they could do a Vegan (Plant Base) food and appetizer and they said no problem and cooked up some great dishes and Katie made the best Chocolate cake I have ever had since going Vegan. Did you know that if you go to Los Alamos on a Tuesday, even a warm Mid-June Tuesday that the town is pretty much a ghost town? Municipal Winery--closed. Casa Dumetz Winery--closed. The bar at the Union Hotel--Closed. We jumped on Yelp and it told us Bedford was open!!! We took the exhausting trek (the town is only four blocks long) and the door was locked and the lights were off. Disheartened we noticed the silhouette of someone in the back room and called the number. The owner/winemaker answered and we asked if he was open, he replied "are you the guys standing at my door?" He opened the door and welcomed us with open arms. We tried all he had open which included a very good Chardonnay and three reds. All 2012 and bottle aged so they are very drinkable as purchased. We all found the Chardonnay to be exceptional and got a bottle. The debate about new oak vs neutral oak or stainless steel, the terms "oakey" and "buttery" went by the wayside and were replaced by the term "perfectly balanced" a term that Stephan (Bedford) used while we were tasting it and it held true. Driving down the coast, we pulled off 101 and dropped in before dinner to their cozy tasting room in bucolic Los Alamos. Customers included tourists like us but also locals hanging out and gabbing like visiting a rustic country store with the namesake owner holding center court while pouring his own creations. The santa-bearded vintner had kept the down-home atmosphere like Bedford-Thompson did decades ago before wine tasting in this area became a big business. Typical of my palate, I favored their Burgundian wines over the Bordeaux blends. I bought two $39 bottles which waived the tasting fee. read more

Stumbled on this quaint little winery today. The rustic patio was a relaxing and the staff were a real treat to discuss the wine and the surrounding area. Enjoyed their Pinot Gris and Grenache. A nice quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of the other wineries in Los Olivos area. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Today, was the wine and mushroom festival. For a set price, it included one glass of wine and staggered mushroom inspired foods that were brought out all afternoon for about 4 hours. The wines served at Bedford Wines are great. I believe they make 6 or 7 of there own wines. The outdoor garden is a relaxing place to sit back and enjoy a glass. This winery is operated by a great couple, and they seem to have a loyal following of locals and the out of town variety, such as myself. read more

I enjoyed ALL the local grown wines along with the small town hospitality. The Pinot Noir is excellent! They also have an excellent Merlot (blend) this year. Both had those rich tobacco undertones. Yum. My boys enjoyed sitting in the middle of their rug playing GeoMag together. No one blinked an eye about a 4 year old & a grown man playing games on the floor of a winery! Love it! I don't normally give 5 stars for a first visit, but I just loved this place. Off the beaten path up in Los Alamos (about 1/2 mile off the 101), we were the only ones here on a Sunday afternoon. Great Grenache and Cab Franc, very good Gewürztraminer, among others. Super friendly pourer who would have stayed all afternoon and talked to us if we had had the time. Very passionate about the local area, community, and businesses. He even tossed in the tasting for free since we were staying down the street at the Victorian Mansion. If you're going here, its easy to drive right by - keep an eye out for it in a small cluster of store-fronts lining the South side of the street. But be warned, if you're looking for a gourmet experience, this isn't it. No frills, just great wine and a comfortable country farming feel. read more

Good little tasting room that is off the beaten path and worth a trip for very nice wines with cult status (due to inability to buy in stores and small batch bottlings). There is a park across the street and they have a patio attached, both nice for sitting and having a picnic or, in my case, walking my dogs. They are also dog friendly, like many wineries up here, and allow well behaved dogs inside the tasting room. read more

We went to this winery on a Saturday morning - quite a bit further out than the rest of the tasting rooms. It was small and quiet - we were the only people there. There was a selection of 6 wines - several of which were from 2000 and 2001. They have a very nice Gevurztraminer, Grenache, Syrah and Cab Franc (although this one probably should have been decanted). The staff was very friendly and able to speak about their wine. It is a nice place. We would probably stop again if we're out that way. read more

This winery is in an slightly out-of-the-way town of Los Alamos... if you're looking for a boutique winery with unique varietals such as Grenache or Cab Franc, this is worth a visit... The tasting room is small but nicely appointed with a lovely bar and an outdoor seating area. I hear they have events here which makes sense as the outdoor seating area is quite charming. Came in here one afternoon for tasting and got to chatting with the owner and the owner's friend. We had such a pleasant time at Bedford Winery. My friend and I each got a wine flight, and since it was a Tuesday afternoon we were the only ones in the shop. The owner was so kind, and they even have coloring for kids which was such a bonus given that my 3 yr old daughter was with us (I've never seen that at a winery before).
