We had a fun, safe and memorable experience with Rod on the Sidecar wine tour of Santa Ynez, definitely a 5-star experience! He picked us up as scheduled in Los Olivos and took us on picturesque backroads in the Santa Inez Valley with rolling hills, ranches, old oak trees, miniature horses, and vineyards. We stopped at the beautiful Rideau winery for some wine tasting which was a nice, relaxing break. Rod also took us to Nojoqui Falls which was a nice short hike...and we were lucky to see the beautiful waterfalls flowing. We also drove by downtown Solvang and Ballard Canyon which is between Solvang and Los Olivos. Rod was personable and informative and took good pictures for us. The Sidecar was also very comfortable. So. Much. Fun! My mom and I did a tour with Jose who was a great guide. He picked us up in Los Olivos. (Turns out Jose is one of the business partners who came up from Temecula where he lives and works - Sidecar Tours HQ is in Temecula - to cover for a driver who wasn't available.) They are still growing their business and their team, so being flexible is key for him and his partners to do what needs to be done. The sidecar experience is exhilarating. The wind whipping around your face... and if you're the front passenger... bugs smacking your cheeks. (Keep your mouth closed.) Wear layers because it can be kinda cool/cold depending on the weather .... and when the sun starts to go down in November... it definitely gets cold. They have a basket in the back that you can put your extra clothes should you not need them during the stops. Oh... and definitely zip and tie everything (clothing-wise) while riding since things really do fly around your face, etc. I didn't have my scarf tied and it nearly flew away, so I tied it in a neat little knot so that it would stay put, and zipped up my jacket since it was flapping everywhere. The rider in the front has the better view, no question. However, the front seat is not super comfortable. The person in the back has a comfy seat and is more secure but has to deal with the person in front blocking their view a bit. We made 3 stops. One was to show us where Neverland Ranch was located which is not where I thought it would be. So, that was neat. You can't see anything other than a nice gate with no signage and a guard who tells you not to block the driveway. The other 2 stops were at Vincent Winery and Roblar Winery. We also rode through and around Solvang which was nice because we took back roads which were a short cut between Los Olivos and Santa Ynez/Solvang that I didn't know about so that was nice because we were having dinner in SY later. Oh wait... technically, we made 5 stops. A quick little stop to look at an orchard at a pretty piece of property in between Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. And then on the way back to Los Olivos, Jose spotted a big gray owl hunting from a power/telephone pole, so we swung around and stopped for a minute and got a nice look at him. Beautiful bird. Note: Jose picked 2 really nice wineries where the tasting was part of the package. Both wineries were lovely. I'd go back to both again. Overall, a really lovely Friday afternoon touring around in a sidecar. read more

Absolutely the only way you should visit Santa Ynez Valley wineries. David was our driver, and he was great. We drove through the super cute downtown areas of Solvang and Los Olivos and soaked in all of the beautiful green hills of the valley. We were lucky to have some sunshine on our trip, but prepare for chilly weather while riding. I'd recommend gloves on the ride and wearing layers to adjust to the weather. We stopped at two wineries Buttonwood and Four brothers. I left with a couple of bottles from each place because there were so many yummy wines! Thanks David! We had a perfect morning! I decided to do this tour for my birthday. They usually don't do Sunday tours but they ended up finding a driver for us. Our driver Greg was so knowledgeable and informative about the surrounding area which made the experience so special. We went to two wineries and had so much fun that Greg even sat with us for a while and talked. He was so sweet and made my birthday so special. Wish I could say I was able to experience this for my birthday but unfortunately, my partner and I were stood up. Our reservation was for 1:30 and it's now 2:15 with no one in sight. After multiple phone calls, texts, voicemails, no one even picked up or responded to us. So disrespectful and a colossal waste of time. We can't even go anywhere else for the day because everything is booked up. Shame on you for running such an unreliable business. We were scammed. We've already put in a claim to get our money back. I wish we could join the excellent reviews, but our experience was far from any stars.. After booking a tour for 3 couples on a Friday at 2pm, we received a heads up at 8:31pm the night before that there is an inspection on Friday and they don't know if one of the cars will be ready. On Friday morning, on the way to Solvang with hotel rooms booked, time off work etc., we got a text message at 9:08am that the entire reservation was canceled with no alternate plan or offer. Imagine our disappointment, since this was the birthday present (and on his birthday) for one of our friends. The disappointment didn't end there, we had to threated legal action before we got a response today (after almost 3 weeks) that they would refund the taxes and fees they had collected, and that we will need to contact Groupon to sort out a refund for the tours with them. (I don't want a refund in Groupon Bucks, I really would like my $money back. ) Don't even try to contact them on the phone number they have listed, and good luck should you need to make a change. Nobody ever answers the phone and their voice mail box has been full since the beginning of June, emails are not returned. We are not sure if this treatment was related to the fact that we booked using (discounted) Groupons, and if they would have had cars for full paying customers? Beware!! read more

BAD BUSINESS!! My girlfriend and I paid and booked this 3 months in advance, then sidecar tours texted us canceling us 6 days before our reservation. Not even a phone call! We texted back explaining that we had our whole vacation planned around this trip with them. We had a hotel that we can not get a refund for, and other reservations planned as well. Sidecar tours reply was, "We ran out of drivers but you can reschedule your trip with our location in San Luis Obispo". Which is another 2 hours away. I am very disappointed with this company. I have left comments on their Facebook page, which they keep deleting rather than contact me and address the problem. I will continue to tell everyone I know about this awful business. How do you "run out of drivers", when this is literally youre entire business. That's like the zoo running out of animals! You didn't run out of drivers, you probably had a larger group who wanted our reservation time, so you bumped us. BAD BUSINESS!!! read more

We had great fun celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary with Sidecar Tours. Sonia was our driver and she did a great job and made sure to stop and take pictures of us.
