This was a great tour that accommodated our schedule. Two of the three wineries we went to were fantastic, one was not my personal preference but others on the tour liked it. There were a total of 10 people, with a max of 12/14 on the tour. Our driver was Cary and he was super helpful. He made sure we did not feel rushed at any point in time, yet we stayed on schedule. He carried all items we purchased to our front door. Additionally he made an effort to remember everyone's names. Overall a great time, would recommend the tour and especially with Cary. read more

My wife and I have taken many wine tours with Grapeline. They have all been interesting and enjoyable, but today's tour, led by Andrew from Santa Barbara, was the best. The company was great and the lunch was very tasty as always. But for us, the wonderful wines at Buttonwood Winery and the enlightening commentary by our host, Cate, on each wine presented for tasting earned Buttonwood our highest marks. I got to experience a tour with Grapeline yesterday and it was sooo fun! They were able to pick us up from any hotel and we actually live in the Santa Ynez area so they identified the closest hotels near our house and we were able to walk and still get picked up and dropped off near our house. They were waiting for us upon arrival. Appreciate the timeliness! The day was scheduled out so well and I never found myself waiting around wondering when we were doing the next thing. Our first winery included a private tour and I think they even opened up early for us- so cool! It seriously felt like we were VIP. The ease of scheduling a fun day was what made the experience so nice. Grapeline figured out our lunch, handled scheduling the winery visits, and provided all of the transportation. It took so much of the planning off our to-do list so we could just sit back and enjoy the day. The staff were seriously all so nice. Our driver, Cary, was so friendly and offered to take photos for us. The vehicles are super comfy and well maintained. We also really enjoyed getting to meet the people on the tour! Everyone was in such a great mood and easy to chat with throughout the day! The Grapeline company owners were actually on our tour and they were so nice. It felt really cool to get to meet them and experience a tour they were on as well! Grapevine is an amazing company. Last year 2023. We had to reschedule due to sickness and they were able to accommodate us. Today November 2024. Werescheduled, we had an amazing time with our driver Kerry and made new friends! The first winery " black jack" was good but the last winery "Vega"was amazing! Omg this was so fun! Cary was our guide and he greeted us by taking the time to get to know our names and where we were from. We went to Lincourt, Kalyra, Gainey vineyards and they were amazing. We experienced amazing lunch from Panino which is Oprah's favorite in case anyone cares. When it comes to tours it matters about who your guide is, the people who are on the tour and the places you go. Grapeline nailed it and most definitely would request Cary as our guide again! STOP LOOKING AT OTHER WINE TOURS TO BOOK! You just found the BEST one! Cary really took care of us, gave us the perfect amount of time at each winery, and even volunteered to let us explore Los Olivos after our tour ended. The Solvang tour was a BARGAIN, and the lunch was delicious. 3 wineries, plus a scrumptious olive oil tasting. It was a perfect day! Thanks Cary! read more

My sister and I had an absolute blast with our tour guide Caryngton on our tour of Solvang area wineries! He gave us just the right amount of time at each winery, and picked up a fantastic lunch for us along the way. He gave us a nice little history of the area while we drove. At the end of our three wineries, he volunteered to give us some time in Los Olivos, which was a great little bonus at the end of the day. I would highly recommend asking for Caryngton specifically when you do your Santa Inez wine tour! read more

Fantastic service!! We signed up for a private transportation since there was 9 of us. The reservation was easy and helped us choose some of our wineries, even gave us tour options since we weren't sure what we wanted. Our driver was courteous, on time, and checked us in at each winery. I would book with them again. 5/5 recommend. read more

Our driver, Anthony, picked us up at our hotel on time. We went to 3 different wineries and had a sandwich lunch at the second. The tour van was immaculate and Anthony had bottled water for us. We did have to ask Anthony a few times to turn the radio down while he was talking. We were seated in the back row of the tour van, with stereo speakers right next to us. The other 3 guests on the tour had no trouble hearing him, as they were closer to him with no stereo speakers next to them. Each time we asked, he quickly accommodated. Spent a glorious day with our fab tour guide Cary. This was our second tour on Grapeline, the first was 2 years ago in Temecula. Cary was a hoot to be with. He suggested places to go for the remainder of our time in the area. Look for us taking over the Karaoke bar in Solvang! There was good bonding in our small group. Cary made it all possible with his natural ability to include everyone in conversation. We started the day at Blackjack Ranch. The hostess was Allison. Great hostess who interacted well with all the couples on the tour She was loaded with knowledge about wines, "California Blackjack" and the ranch. I enjoyed the grilled veggie sandwich I ordered for lunch, my husband devoured his chicken sandwich so it must have been good. Picked up a case of wine to enjoy with our holiday meals. An extra stop was made at an olive ranch. tasted several olive oils. OMG, my heart was stolen by the 3 ranch fur babies. I love dogs. Next stop was Rideau Vineyard. The grounds were beautiful. They seemed to be short staffed as we didn't have the engaging customer service as at the other 2 stops. Last stop was Vega Vineyards. Bobby was the GREATEST host on this day of wine. He was attentive to all the guests at our table. Knowledgable about all the wine he poured and threw in a couple extra drinkable goodies for us. We purchased a cheese platter, and took home dinner as there is no way we were leaving the hotel tonight. Our new drinking pal Mary bought cheesecake for everyone in our group. We just met but are planning another couples escape in January or February. Overall, this went beyond what we expected and was a memorable anniversary trip! read more

Our driver was a nice gentleman who picked us up at our hotel (and drop off), drove us around Solvang wineries and handled all the details so literally all we had to do was show up and drink wine. He kept us on schedule so that we would see all four wineries in a timely fashion. Lunch was prepared for everyone after the second winery (you get to choose your lunch option beforehand, includes chips, cookie and salad or sandwich). We shared the very nice shuttle bus (leather seats and smooth driving) with a few other groups but it wasn't crowded at all and everyone was very nice. Surprisingly, our group consisted of one couple and a bachelorette party so very young. The driver picked them up in Santa Barbara so their pickup range is pretty wide. We spent about 1.5 hours per winery and driving between each winery was about 10 or so minutes. All very close to each other. The intiernary was a mystery until we got into the bus. Our tour lasted about 6-ish hours and we stayed in Solvang so the drive home was short. I'm sure if you stayed in Santa Barbara, the drive back would be much longer. Overall, very good service but it's definitely more on the wineries to give you the actual wine tour/tasting/knowledge. The driver was just in charge of logistics and setup. read more

This is our first time doing this tour but not our first experience with Grapeline. Compared to Temecula this was a different experience. Less people and not hectic. It was quite and the scenery was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want something low key. I was not disappointed. Our driver/host Anthony was super nice and always looking out for us! He made sure we would leave on time and kept our group in line lol he also had jokes. He was super cool! If you want a different vibe you must check out the Santa Barbara tour! Great experience. read more

Wow!!! what a fun day we had with Cary!! I planned a 21st birthday event for my youngest daughter. I decided on a private tour for my 4 daughters and husband. We were picked up at our hotel with fun music in the van:) we went to 3 different wineries and had a suprise olive oil tasting! yum!! We had a delicious lunch at our second winery!! 10/10 recommend! We used Grapeline Wine tours to book a private wine tasting tour for my 30th birthday along with family and friends. Shout out to Lori who helped plan our day! She was responsive and curated our wine tastings to my guests wine preferences. The tour time was flexible and 3 wineries with charceuterie provided was the perfect day in my opinion. We visited Wiens, Robert Renzoni, and Doffo, each providing a welcoming and fun experience. Saying our tour guide, Randy, was awesome is totally an understatement, He provided extra joy and fun for the day, yet kept us all on track, ensured we got discounts when purchasing products at the wineries and most importantly kept us safe. We had Carrinton and Anthony as our drivers and they were super friendly and very accommodating. They both gave us the time we needed at each winery and was flexible with the schedule. It was a very well planned weekend and the wineries were wonderful. The drivers always had a warm smile on their face and great attitude. We just loved them! Such a great day! My husband and I enjoyed our tour from start to finish! We loved that it took the pressure off of us to plan which wineries to visit... the itinerary was completely made for us. Each winery was so knowledgeable and treated all of us with the Grapeline tour like VIP. Jason, our host was attentive to our every need. If I could go back and take another tour with Kris, who was our driver, I'd get in my car and head to Solvang. Kris created a relaxed atmosphere, took us out for some great wine, and we even sang along on the way back. And my wife and I will be back, because this tour really was great. read more

Established in 2002.

Grapeline Wine Tours began in 2002 in Temecula, and expanded to Paso Robles in 2006 and the Santa Barbara region (the wineries surrounding Solvang and Santa Ynez) in 2007. John and Kim Kelliher started the service because, according to Kim, "we loved wine country and couldn't afford a winery." The company philosophy is simple - if you were visiting a friend from wine country and they took you wine tasting, how would your day go? We think your friend would make your day fun and flexible, taking into account your specific likes and dislikes. They would use insider knowledge and connections to craft a day that was far better than going on your own. They would save you money, because friends of the wineries get special deals. And if they were a really, really good friend, they would stay completely sober and cater completely to your needs so you could relax and enjoy all that wine country has to offer. Now THAT would be a good friend, and that's who your Grapeline host is.

When I called to modify my reservation a week prior to our visit and add additional guests, the staff member I spoke with was rude, sounded annoyed by my questions, and ended the call abruptly without even saying goodbye. Looking back, I should have taken that as a warning of what was to come. When we arrived for our 11:00 a.m. reservation, the host stand staff were not welcoming or friendly. I was informed that because of the size of our party (12 people), two tables could be pushed together, but we would be charged an additional $50. This had never been communicated to me during my phone call. Had I known there would be an extra charge simply to accommodate the size of our group, I would not have proceeded with the reservation. I then asked if our group could be seated at two separate tables, but was told no because the tables were in different server sections. There was no effort to offer alternatives or find a solution. The interaction felt very transactional and unaccommodating. What made this even more frustrating was that the winery was not busy. In fact, we were told it was "graduation season" and a slower weekend, so the lack of flexibility was surprising. Eventually, I suggested that we sit at one table and have a few people stand. As it turned out, the table was actually large enough for our entire group, which left me confused as to why the additional table and fee had been suggested in the first place. As we were being seated, we were informed that because of our group size, we would be doing bottle service and would not be permitted to participate in wine tastings. This was another policy that had never been mentioned when I modified my reservation. Since this was our first visit to the area, wine tasting was the primary reason we chose to visit Sunstone. At that point, we were seriously considering leaving altogether. The hosts repeatedly asked who I had spoken with on the phone, which I couldn't remember. I explained that I wasn't blaming the individual helping us at that moment, but I was disappointed that important details regarding fees and tasting restrictions had never been communicated. Thankfully, Aaron stepped in. He interrupted the conversation and offered to accommodate our group with tastings. Aaron completely changed the trajectory of our visit. He was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great experience. Thanks to him, we stayed, enjoyed the wines, and ended up purchasing more than 20 bottles. The wine was great, and Aaron was exceptional. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience with the staff left a lasting impression. Customer service starts long before the wine is poured, and every interaction before Aaron felt dismissive and unfriendly. The only reason I'm giving more than one star is because of Aaron. Without him, we would have left before ever tasting the wine.

Let me tell you about this hidden gem. First off, the name is almost misleading. Sun Outdoors Santa Barbara makes it sound like it's right in Santa Barbara, but it's actually about 15 minutes north of Goleta, in the El Capitan area -- and that name fits it much better. This place feels like a hidden piece of heaven. This is my third time being here. The first time was when I was in boarding school in eighth grade and we came here on a school trip. The second time was when I was married and stayed at the connected glamping resort. My ex-wife loved to travel, and we stayed at some very elegant places, but this was glamping at its finest. What I didn't realize back then is that the hotel and RV campground are connected by a little trail. You can walk from the RV side to the hotel area, visit their little convenience store, and continue down toward the beach. I'm currently in spot 818, all the way near the top, and it feels like I'm in the mountains. It's private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. But just a short walk away, you have access to one of the most beautiful beaches around. It feels almost private. Absolutely stunning. For me, this RV campground is perfect. They have everything: a dog park where your dog can run off-leash, a kids' playground, hiking trails, a pool, a jacuzzi, clean and beautiful bathrooms, and well-kept grounds. Everything is maintained extremely well. The staff is also outstanding. Kathy runs the place, and she clearly runs a tight ship. Every staff member I've dealt with has been wonderful. They're never in your way, but they're always there when you need them. That's rare. Before coming here, I stayed at a very nice RV park in Malibu. Was it nice? Sure. You could see the ocean. But it felt more like being in a parking lot. Here, I feel like I'm actually camping in the woods. Then you walk a little ways and suddenly you're at this incredible beach. I started RV life in February, and this is my fourth place so far. To me, this is heaven on earth. I've been here for a month, and I have to leave on the 8th because a school rented out the whole property and everyone has to clear out. Honestly, I'm sad to leave. But it's probably for the best, because I'm supposed to be exploring the coast -- and if I didn't have to leave, I might never go. As Arnold Schwarzenegger would say: I'll be back. Thank you to Kathy and everyone at Sun Outdoors/El Capitan for making my stay so comfortable and wonderful. I rarely write reviews unless a place is either the absolute best or disturbingly bad. This place is something very special. If you ever get the chance to stay here, take it.

This is literally just a parking lot and there's some dirt behind the parking spot for you to pitch a tent. I can't really knock it because that's often typical of beach campgrounds. But just not my style. On the positive, it's like a 2 minute walk to the beach and it's nice to be next to the ocean. It does get a bit windy, so be aware of that. As an en route campground it's definitely not worth the $50 unless you need to shower. Probably should have just slept at a nearby vista point. But I can see it being great for families with kids who want to have beach time and then just walk back to the campsite.

The Grapeline wine tour shuttle picked us up at the Hotel Oceana in Santa Barbara, then cruised over the hills into Santa Ynez Valley to pick up more tasters in the quaint Danish town of Solvang. Then we were off to firestone Winery (yes, that Firestone family) to go on a winemaking tour and sample their vinos. Next was Fess Parker Winery (Frass Canyon in Sideways) where after our tasting we stepped outside and our lunch was arranged with table cloth and nice settings. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and my boyfriend Michael had the roast beef and cheddar with horseradish. Both were really tasty with a fresh side salad and huge homemade choco chip cookie. We all told our guide Tom, who was helpful, informative and full of stories, that we wanted Pinot Noir, so he adjusted the tour and we tasted the wines of Melville and Alma Rosa wineries on the west side of the valley. On the way back, Michael and I both dozed. It's a long day and plenty of wine but it goes by in a wink. read more

Had an excellent day in Santa Ynez wine country thanks to Grapeline Wine Tours! From the moment I reached out to the office for help to plan our day with friends from out of state, to being picked up at a specific location and driven in a deluxe comfortable shuttle to each winery, the day was perfect. Our driver Steve dropped us off at the front of each winery, served us lunch at the second winery we visited, helped us with our purchases and kept us organized and on schedule while we had fun. Steve went above and beyond to make sure our day went smoothly and that we didn't have to worry about a thing. Each winery was attentive and fun, and they spent alot of time with us. Even the drive in between wineries was fun, with great music and air conditioning on the bus and lots of lively conversation between guests. The bus was very clean and-high-end...very comfortable. Our tour guide was fun and professional and informative. We went to four wineries, all pretty close, all very nice... The only one we didn't really care for was Blackjack winery (the entire group could've done without it). The wine there was whatever, there was no music, no a/c and it was just dry and boring and they were pretty cheap with their pours.... The GWT experience was fantastic - from start to finish. They are easy to work with and very accommodating - the price is great for what you get - lunch was good - we weren't rushed - had plenty of time to enjoy all the fun differences of each stop and we will definitely be back!! read more

We had the best experience! From the start Michelle was great at getting the shuttle secured and picking us up from the Airbnb. Lunch was fabulous and was so convenient. Our driver Steve was so attentive! Keeping us on schedule, but with gentle reminders, always carrying our purchases out to the shuttle, set up our table at the winery for lunch, delivered our lunches right on time, making sure we had shade. Never had us walk more than a few steps to get on or off the shuttle, great driver and kept the music flowing. Steve really made the trip incredible! The shuttle was clean and in perfect condition. David was a wonderful tour guide with so much knowledge and suggestions. We toured 4 wineries and our lunch at the 3rd one was great as we enjoyed our tastings along with some food which made it easier to determine our favorite wines. As we departed the bus back at our hotel, we left our jackets on the seat behind us, but didn't discover it until that night. How wonderful David was as he returned those jackets right away to the front desk of our hotel! Unfortunately, the hotel just shoved them aside so it took a phone call to Grapeline Tours to find out just how helpful David had been. Highly recommend this tour. read more

We recently had the pleasure of taking the Vineyard Picnic Tour. We visited three different wineries, each with its own distinctive character. We were able to try many different wines and were treated to perfect weather and spectacular scenery. They offered a wide variety of choices for the picnic lunch and the food was outstanding. The group on the tour was friendly and easygoing, which made the experience even more awesome. I recently booked for 3 couples, a party of 6 for next weekend Feb 16th for belated V-day celebration. But the other 2 couples couldn't make it so I called today to update the party size to 2 people. Because we were only 2 people, we were told that they couldn't guarantee us a spot since it's not profitable for them to host a tour with only 2 people. He said he'll put me on a list, so if other people book, the tour will continue, if not, tour will be cancelled. I was a little surprised because I had received an e-mail from them that says buy a valentine special for a party of 2 (picture attached). I think it would've been nice to put a note that tours do not run if there is fewer than 4, nice to have but I didn't rate them a 4 instead of 5 star for this since I get it, a business needs to run on a profit. I decided to cancel and explore other options. When I called another tour, they explained that it was their slow season, also mentioned that there's a minimum number of people for them to be profitable, but provided me other options like instead of semi-tour, maybe first book a private tour, which is more expensive, but they'll be happy to lower the price if other people sign up too, or if I'm flexible, there's other days if I wanted the semi-tour. This was where I saw the difference between a 4-star vs 5-star service. And so to my previous statement, if you're able to book cloud climbers, you're going to have a good time. But what sets a 4-star from 5-star was this recent booking experience. 4-star was them politely letting me know they can't service two people. 5-star is letting me know, explaining why, and seeing if there's other options that might work.

the secret solvang food, wine & culture tour was a great experience…read more Casey was our guide and he was super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. he answered all of our questions and gave us a bunch of secrets about the Danish capital of America. the 6 stops were all delicious. there was some walking in the over 2 hour tour but not too much. we would definitely recommend the food, wine & culture tour and if you are lucky, you will get Casey as your guide.

If you're doing a food tour and you're walking through the city, you should definitely have some…read morehands sanitizer or have spots along the way, picked out to be regularly washing your hands. You also should refrain from touching people's plates and cups as you discuss and show them the food items. I understand it's a food tour, but especially when you don't have clean hands, it's highly unsanitary! It's also a good idea to not greet dogs and let them lick all over you ... your hands.... your arms AND your face while you're interacting with people who are eating food, bringing them food from the restaurant & leading a tour. It's a good idea to give people space after you give them the information about the tour and the food and the art and let them socialize with the people that they came with. We should not have experience the person who is giving the tour or learning how to give a tourist next to you constantly asking you questions about what you're eating, what you're trying, where you're from or other questions that are really irrelevant .. it is pretty annoying & doesn't allow you to enjoy the experience fully. It's not a good idea to take shortcuts, because it's easier for you as the tour guide. One of our group members ate meat. The other 2 are vegetarians, but to keep it simple or make it easier. She was repeatedly offered vegetarian options and not given the opportunity to try the meat options along the tour. This was frustrating as you were very clear when setting up the tour, what the food restrictions were, we reminded them again when we got to the beginning of the tour and also reminded along the tour. How often will we need to say it in order to get the full experience. Although the tour guide and her trainee were very nice & social, it is not likely not an experience we'll do again.

Hannah was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. There was plenty of food to eat and a couple of adult beverages included. The photo tips were marginal, but we didn't care as we booked the tour for the fun of walking around town and tasting the delicious food. The highlight was Kim Jensen, owner of the Ingeborg's Danish Chocolates, giving us a wonderful tour of his factory and sharing lots of chocolate treats!

Char was our guide, and she struck a good balance of keeping things relaxed while still making sure everyone felt comfortable, especially since a few people in our group hadn't been horseback riding before. I rode Boomer, who was steady and easy to ride, and we appreciated that they gave a simple safety overview before heading out. After the ride, we did a casual tasting of both a red and white wine and then chose a glass of our favorite to hang with. The setting was quiet and pretty, and it felt low-key in the best possible way. One of the dogs Nana even joined us for the ride. Overall, it was a calm, well-paced outing that felt thoughtfully run without being overly structured.

I'd recommend bringing a hat or sunglasses because it can be a bit bright, and there's room for a water bottle in the saddle bags.
