Is there such a thing as a hardcore foodie? I think so, I work with three at the local high school! I raved about The Baker's Table, so we checked it out. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, VG style with hash browns inside the sando, toasted to perfection. It's not on the menu, but they make it special for me. The ladies up front are always so kind, and whenever I see Amy, she greets me with a big smile and a warm hug. As my late wife always preached: Stay local, buy local, farm to table -- and vote with your dollars! This place rocks.

My boyfriend and I wanted to go out for breakfast so we decided to come to The Baker's Table for the first time! Upon arrival, the first thing we noticed was all of the yummy pastries in the display case. Pretty quickly my boyfriend and I agreed to split a Plum Cruffin. I ordered a cafe au lait to drink which turned out to be a generous size! They were very delicious. The cruffin was soft and sweet with a perfect combination of flavors. For entree, my boyfriend and I split two poached eggs on toast. They were admittedly a little plain, I think some hot sauce would've been perfect on top. However, it was perfectly prepared and yummy. Overall, the ambiance of The Baker's Table is really laid back and cute with various options! I'd go back again just to try more of the yummy pastries. If you're thinking about checking it out, go for it!

When in Solvang, CA, consider starting your day with breakfast at The Baker's Table. Don't let the line to order scare you as it moves at a decent pace. Order at the counter, receive a number, and your order is brought to your table (seating is available inside and outdoors). Service was pleasant. What we tried: -Breakfast burrito, which was stuffed with scrambled eggs, sausage, onions, and cheddar cheese. Comes with a side of fruit and some salsa, too. -Croissant sandwich - freshly baked, flaky croissant filled with scrambled eggs and  cheddar cheese. Comes with a side of applewood smoked bacon, too! -Iced mocha latte did the trick and gave me the morning pick-me-up I needed.

Stopped in for lunch and ended up really glad I did. I ordered the Reuben and an iced tea, and both were excellent. The sandwich was flavorful, and the side salad was fresh and well-dressed--simple but done right. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff made the whole experience even better--friendly without being over-the-top. Just a really solid spot for a good meal. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area

Was craving something sweet so we stopped by the bakers table. The pastries seemed to have sold out early which means this is indeed the spot for pastries in Santa ynez. We got lucky to still be able to get a slice of their carrot cake. It was so good each bite I took I kept looking down like how much is left in don't want to finish it haha. Next time we're in town I'll make sure to pop in earlier. Cute and cozy spot with indoor and outdoor seating.

This is my go to SYV Breakfast Spot. The staff is always on it and very polite and efficient. The food is always great and the atmosphere is perfect. Anyone who's given a negative have their own issues. Enjoy!

Picked up breakfast before heading out to the Olive and Lavender farm. Had a lovely picnic with delicious ham and cheese croissants and pastries and coffee. Great Customer Service as always.

This place is deservedly known for their pastries. You'll see plenty of them in their display case when you walk in. They also serve breakfast and lunch. They have an everyday menu on the wall behind the counter and also post daily specials on a blackboard. Order at the counter from the friendly staff and then have a seat in their casual & comfortable dining area; your order will be brought to you. My order: the Breakfast Croissant Sandwich and a hot vanilla latte. My vanilla latte was excellent with a smooth brew and light vanilla flavor. The sandwich was simply an over medium egg sandwiched between a croissant with a side of two strips of smokey, crisp bacon. What made it incredible was the perfect, fresh, flakey-layered, buttery croissant. This was a textbook perfect croissant that was so good I barely remember the bacon or the egg. This place is very dog friendly both inside or on their patio. I really enjoyed the cool relaxed vibe of the place. 4.5 stars rounded up.

Not worth it! Cute place with potential- cold bacon with French toast but the worst was the super brown lettuce in as a side salad- very disappointing 57.00 for pressure for tip in a serve yourself environment. The kids cashier can't wait to close at lunch time.

The restaurant is charming and the food is good. My green chilaquiles were probably the best thing my spouse and I ordered. The chips were crisp, the cheese tangy and the eggs were well cooked. Our coffees were beautiful. My scone was closer to a cookie in my opinion but it tasted good. The almond croissant wasn't as good as some we have encountered but it wasn't bad. The croissant in the croissant sandwich was much lighter and crisper. The service was friendly and prompt. I do wish they were dog friendly. We are usually traveling with our pets so it would have been great if they could have joined us in the patio.

Most places in Santa Ynez allows you to bring your own beverage, however, they may charge a corkage fee. I'd say, bring your champagne.

Thoughts: I must admit that I'm not a bread person. The only reason I went here is that I had to take some tourists around. Solvang was a pretty obvious stop to make, and we found ourselves in Olsen's. I'm a believer of nailing the simple things, because you won't be able to hide it in fluff. What I liked about Olsen's bread is that they taste home made. The flavors taste exactly like what you asked for, and they don't have those added chemicals that certain establishments use to make the flavors "pop out". The bread was flaky, chewy, and an overall joy to consume. Ambiance: The tables and chairs had a cafe vibe (which is what the place is). It's clean, the bakery smelled great, and the high foot traffic means that the turnaround keeps the food fresh. Service: Straightforward. Pick your bread, ask your questions, and the staff will ring you up after getting what you asked for.

Take a look at my photos first--the cake and the bill just didn't match. I ordered three items (two…read morecakes and a coffee), but the receipt only listed two, and they weren't even the items I had. I checked the menu and realized the bill was actually for less than I should have paid; it was likely mixed up with the customer sitting next to me, who I remember had ordered a Napoleon. Looking at the prices later, I found the menu quite strange: the Chocolate Eclair is $11.95, while the Napoleon is a dollar less. Anyone who has ever made both will admit that an eclair is much easier to prepare than a Napoleon--in fact, an eclair might be the easiest item in a bakery. It's an interesting pricing choice. This bakery must be very famous; even the AI I used to plan my trip from Pasadena to San Jose recommended it. Since it isn't peak season, I easily found a parking spot on the main street, which was a relief compared to ten years ago when I had to drive in circles to find one. Even in the off-season, there was still a line--not too long, but a line nonetheless. The pastries in the case were all beautifully made and looked delicious. It was difficult to decide, but I eventually chose a Chocolate Eclair and a Danish Waffle. I went with the eclair because it was one of the few Western-style cakes available in my hometown of Shanghai when I was growing up. I've loved them since childhood. Back then, the only other Western desserts we could find were Palmiers, Chestnut Cream Cakes, and cups of whipped cream that you would just eat directly. The eclair tasted excellent, with a texture that was a perfect mix of soft and crispy. The cream was a little oily but still acceptable, and while the whole thing was quite sweet--a bit beyond average--I could still enjoy it. The Danish Waffle looked a bit like a fried Chinese donut, or Youtiao, stuffed with whipped cream, but the outside was actually a light, crispy puff pastry. It was much better than I imagined--crispy without being hard and perfectly baked. The filling was the same cream used in the eclair, combined with raspberry jam. I later realized the Danish Waffle was only $6.25, nearly half the price of the eclair despite being just as good. It's strange that the Chocolate Eclair is the most expensive item in the bakery; it's good, but compared to the Danish Waffle, the price is a bit high. I saw some people complaining that the bakery doesn't have a restroom. When I asked, the staff politely directed me to the nearby park. I accepted the answer, though I can't imagine how they handle the crowds during the busy season. Regardless, this is a five-star experience, no doubt--just be sure to check your bill when you pay. I don't want to pay more than I owe, but I don't want to pay less, either.
