Checked it out the day before right before they shut the doors and was excited to come in after a good nights sleep early the next day for a rare croissant and morning bun reward. Coffee was fabulous. The croissant and morning buns though were one of two things. 1. Baked that morning and were sub par, hard and unappetizing or 2 The result of a baker who overslept and so they gave me the stuff I saw the prior day. Today I am going back to my old go to Bobs to endure their poor attitude but at least I know my rare croissant indulgence will be rewarded with something that won't end up in the AirBNB wastebasket. read more

If you peek through the window in the "employees only" area you can see the large professional bakery and bakers where the magic happens. We had the smoked salmon plate and the waffle with fruit and 2 slices of bacon. Both were outstanding I loved how crispy the and light the waffle was. I am giving this place a two stars for their subpar service, mediocre food and high prices. Let's start with the service. No one greets you with a smile. When we asked if we could have the darker croissants, I believe the "owner" or manager sarcastically said I'm about to put them in the oven. When our bowl of granola arrived, it only had a few blueberries and blackberries on top, unlike the picture on their website full of strawberries and bananas. When I inquired, she said they're not in season. When are bananas NOT in season!?! The food was ok but very over priced!! For instance, a bowl of granolas is $15.50. See photo for yourself. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, VG style with hash browns inside the sando, toasted to perfection. It's not on the menu, but they make it special for me. The ladies up front are always so kind, and whenever I see Amy, she greets me with a big smile and a warm hug. My boyfriend and I wanted to go out for breakfast so we decided to come to The Baker's Table for the first time! Upon arrival, the first thing we noticed was all of the yummy pastries in the display case. Pretty quickly my boyfriend and I agreed to split a Plum Cruffin. I ordered a cafe au lait to drink which turned out to be a generous size! They were very delicious. The cruffin was soft and sweet with a perfect combination of flavors. For entree, my boyfriend and I split two poached eggs on toast. They were admittedly a little plain, I think some hot sauce would've been perfect on top. However, it was perfectly prepared and yummy. Overall, the ambiance of The Baker's Table is really laid back and cute with various options! I'd go back again just to try more of the yummy pastries. On an impromptu day trip to the Santa Ynez Valley, my family and I decided to stop for lunch in Santa Ynez and were attracted to the charming mint-colored exterior of The Baker's Table, as well as their advertised croissants, sandwiches, and other names of goodies painted on the window. Inside was equally charming, and the menu more extensive than we imagined, including some vegetarian options. Three vegan chorizo breakfast burritos and one Farmer's Market Roasted Veggie Tartine were ordered. The burritos were more expensive than we are used to from other places we've eaten ($19.00 each), but my husband, who grew up eating non-vegetarian chorizo, insists that this was the best vegan chorizo that he has ever had - it was spicy, oily, and delicious! The kids agreed that their burritos were well-made. My tartine was also delicious and well-made, with quality, fresh ingredients, including the salad greens on the side to absorb the balsamic vinegar. Oh, and we also shared a thick slice of their carrot cake, which was moist, well-spiced, and generous with icing! The staff was very friendly, and it should be noted that we came in at 1:00 and they generously said "we can do breakfast" when we asked about the burritos. :-) Overall, I know that we'll be back again, definitely to try out more of that carrot cake and some of their other pastries! read more

Order at the counter, receive a number, and your order is brought to your table (seating is available inside and outdoors). Service was pleasant. What we tried: -Breakfast burrito, which was stuffed with scrambled eggs, sausage, onions, and cheddar cheese. Comes with a side of fruit and some salsa, too. -Croissant sandwich - freshly baked, flaky croissant filled with scrambled eggs and  cheddar cheese. Was craving something sweet so we stopped by the bakers table. The pastries seemed to have sold out early which means this is indeed the spot for pastries in Santa ynez. We got lucky to still be able to get a slice of their carrot cake. It was so good each bite I took I kept looking down like how much is left in don't want to finish it haha. They have an everyday menu on the wall behind the counter and also post daily specials on a blackboard. Order at the counter from the friendly staff and then have a seat in their casual & comfortable dining area; your order will be brought to you. My order: the Breakfast Croissant Sandwich and a hot vanilla latte. My vanilla latte was excellent with a smooth brew and light vanilla flavor. The sandwich was simply an over medium egg sandwiched between a croissant with a side of two strips of smokey, crisp bacon. What made it incredible was the perfect, fresh, flakey-layered, buttery croissant. This was a textbook perfect croissant that was so good I barely remember the bacon or the egg. The restaurant is charming and the food is good. My green chilaquiles were probably the best thing my spouse and I ordered. The chips were crisp, the cheese tangy and the eggs were well cooked. Our coffees were beautiful. My scone was closer to a cookie in my opinion but it tasted good. The almond croissant wasn't as good as some we have encountered but it wasn't bad. The croissant in the croissant sandwich was much lighter and crisper. The service was friendly and prompt. I do wish they were dog friendly. The most delicious croissant egg sandwich ever! I'm still thinking about it a few days later and I'm pretty sure I will go back for another before I leave the area. The pastries are perfection! So delicious. The bacon that came with the sandwich was also delicious. I had an iced vanilla latte and that was also very good. Seating inside and outside is also great and very easy. My kids loved their pastries as well, we ate everything except for the salted chocolate cookie. It was dry, a little hard, and not very flavorful. I can make much better cookies but I cannot make better croissants than these. They are truly heavenly. We happened upon this very rustic French boulangerie while staying in Santa Ynez at the Genevieve. This is a very popular local breakfast and lunch spot which has an amazing menu of fresh baked breads, pastries, sandwiches, tartines and salads. We ordered the special, which was a Blue Crab Louie and the turkey and brie sandwich. The Crab Louie was extremely delicious with a generous portion of crab. The turkey with brie came on toasted sourdough and also had a generous amount of turkey and the brie was melty and gooey. Of course my partner and I shared these dishes and we were so full afterwards that we only ate half of the sandwich. I felt like I was in Mayberry watching all of the locals come in and greet each other with such friendly salutations; a very happy and thoughtfully designed boulangerie. read more

Being a huge fan of many things at the Baker's Table, I decided to order a cake. I called two times hoping to speak with the cake baker, both times they were unavailable. When I placed my order, the individual helping me told me the cake baker was "very creative." I let them know this cake would be for my four year old nephew, and he loves sprinkles and hot wheels. When I picked up the cake, I was so disappointed!! It was covered in pink sprinkles and did not appear to have any effort put in whatsoever. I requested they add a second color sprinkle, which they did, this made it look slightly more festive. Based on the cakes I have seen on their Instagram, I was really heartbroken. In regards to the taste, it was not bad, but nothing I would order again. It was a white cake with strawberry and cream filling. My boyfriend and I were walking along Sagunto Street when we stumbled across The Baker's Table. I was drawn in by the cute exterior and how busy it looked inside. I had trouble choosing which freshly baked croissant I wanted to try since they had so many to choose from. I ended up going with a fruit filled one (I think it was apricot) and my boyfriend got the ham and gruyere. We asked to have them warmed up and then looked for a place to sit. It took about five minutes to receive our croissants and they were worth the small wait. Having them warmed made all the difference. They were perfectly flaky and buttery. It was genuinely one of the best croissants I have ever had. Although I can't speak for the other foods they serve, the croissants and the atmosphere were on point. I definitely recommend giving The Baker's Table a try. read more

Many folks are familiar with the fabulous female business owner, Amy D's, creations through her artisan pastries discovered throughout Santa Barbara County's coffeeshops. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the goodies they make! Their primary cafe and bakery has breakfast and lunch options including sandwiches, salads and other daily specialities like quiche. They're known for their "Almost World Famous Reuben" but I can't help myself from going with their Turkey & Brie Panini. No matter what you choose, it is mostly local, organic and/or made in house--including the Green Star Coffee they pour. They also serve wines (and mimosas). Can't disagree with Julia Child's saying that is quoted on their webpage: "If you're afraid to use butter, use cream." - Julia Child Closed Mondays. read more
