Spinach scramble, very good.

While visiting family, had breakfast at American Host. It had a really home type feeling. It was clean and not fancy. Our server was amazing, very attentive. Even the host was great, very friendly. The food was excellent! I would definitely eat here again!

Update since the owner messaged me. It was 3 eggs & the $30 included tax & tip. Again it was nice. But a bit pricy for what it was.

Fantastic Chicken Fried Steak!

Flew into the Lompoc Airport to try this restaurant. It was totally worth it! It's about a 7 min Uber trip as it's on the other side of town. I got the Chicken Fried Steak which is as good as it gets. The fresh "hot out of the oven" biscuits were awesome. My son got a burger and it was huge. Lean, high quality beef. He loved it and said the fries were hot and crispy. The coffee was excellent! It was crowded and we got the only open table but could have been seated at the counter if we wanted. Service was great and especially friendly. Really good coffee, which always makes a good breakfast even better. We will definitely be back!

Finding the location and parking is pretty easy. We came on a Saturday morning and got seated pretty quickly although they were pretty busy. The food was mediocre at best. Large servings for hungry folks. Coffee snobs would not like the coffee but it did its job. Everything was a little too salty for me but my family enjoyed their meals. I would explore other restaurants in the area for breakfast next time. Service was just ok, but they were nonstop busy. Ambiance is nonexistent but it's to be expected.

Biscuits w/Gravy & Side of Hash Brown

We were in the Lompoc area during the holidays and looking for a Breakfast place to eat. My Girlfriend found American Host Restaurant on Yelp and decided to go and try them. Just a heads up guys, the restaurant has parking outside. They have parking in the back, but depending on the time of day, it could be a challenge in my opinion. There is also street parking outside as well. When we arrived, we were welcomed and waited for a bit to be seated. The host brought us over to our booth and handed us our menu. Our booth that we sat in was small in my opinion and since the restaurant was packed, we took what was available at the time. Looking at the menu, we decided to get: American Host Breakfast w/Ham Steak, Blueberry Cakes (4), Homemade Biscuits and Gravy & side of Hash Brown. The American Host Breakfast I ordered came with 4 hotcakes, 2 fresh eggs, Hash Brown and Ham Steak. We waited for our order and it was not too bad, considering that it was the morning rush hour. Our food arrived and it looked like it was prepared fresh and the portions were very generous in my opinion. The American Host Breakfast was good and I was satisfied with everything on the dish. My favorite was the Ham Steak; had flavor and nicely cooked. The only thing I noticed was the Blueberry Pancakes. I thought it might come with Blueberry Compote, to give it an extra flavor. Yes, the blueberries were in inside the pancakes, so it was ok. The gravy with the biscuits were good; rich and creamy. What I really noticed and stood out was the small US Flags on the dishes. I thought that was very cool and patriotic in my opinion. Our overall experience was good and we enjoyed our Breakfast. In my personal opinion, I would recommend American Host Restaurant, if you are in the Lompoc area or close by. Next time we go, we would like to sit in another booth area and want to try their other items on their menu.

Delicious biscuits & gravy!

When I want a delicious home cooked meal I know American Host is the perfect spot! They have the best biscuits & gravy and their chicken fried steak is amazing too! For lunch their BLT is one of my favorites! Not only is the service fast and attentive, the ambiance is a nostalgic and welcoming Americana vibe. It's no wonder this spot is a local favorite!

Does anyone know if they have gluten free items?

Sure, there are many breakfast items like eggs, potatoes and protein you can order without the side of bread.

Brekkies - Dutch style pancakes

Brekkies was hands down the best food my family and I had while on our mini vacation in Solvang!…read more We arrived around 8:30am on a Saturday to a small line, but it moved fairly quickly. You order at the counter and then they have you sit at a table - they do not allow you to sit before ordering which I liked. It allows for the kitchen and staff to stay on top of orders and to help everything run smoothly - plus it cuts down on allowing people to save tables. We ordered the Belgian Waffle, Corned Beef Hash, Biscuits and Gravy and Danish Pancake. Everything was fresh and delicious, including the coffee and fresh squeezed OJ! The inside has a decent amount of seating, I believe there might have been an additional room as well, plus outdoor seating. Staff were very friendly and personable! They came around and checked on us, refilled water/coffee and cleaned plates. Overall, we absolutely loved this place - we almost came back again on Sunday, but the line was really long and we needed to get on the road to head home! Fun fact: Brekkies is British slang for...breakfast! Also, the owner of Brekkies also owns 2 or 3 other businesses in town included Chomp Burgers which was also very good! If you're ever in Solvang and looking for a breakfast/brunch spot, I highly suggest checking out Brekkies!

You order at the counter and are seated after. Tried their Banana Nutella pancakes, croissant sandwich, and their kids eggs. Enjoyed the pancakes the most. They are thin and folded over almost like a crepe like consistency. Nice, buttery and soft. The only downside was that they just serve drip coffee here, so no latté with your meal. Staff is welcoming and check in on you often. Hope you enjoy!

Budget Cafe - Ground "steak" & eggs, toast

And he is very particular about his food! My grandson (he's 8) gave 2 thumbs up to the short stack of pancakes. (Even though they weren't Mickey Mouse shaped). I usually get 2 eggs over easy with home fries and toast. Quite happy with my choice. You won't go home hungry. We weren't in a hurry which was good because the high school cross country team arrived around 10:30am on Saturday. The waitresses of course were super busy serving everyone. I think they did great. If you get grumpy having to wait, maybe go to a fast food place. We will definitely be going back. Just maybe not at 10:30 am on a Saturday. Looked at the other negative reviews. You have the option of returning over done food (if you don't, don't complain). Mold on the crust of bread is unfortunate, but I don't believe it was deliberate. Their bread turnover rate has to be so high, why would the cook think it could be old? I have had dishes that were still with stains such as lipstick after being washed at restaurants. You just show it and get it replaced. My goal is to keep Budget Cafe in business. With all the meals served, the negative reviews are a small percentage of their overall business. No restaurant is perfect.

I found this place on social media and knew I had to try it, especially the "egg in a jar" with purple potatoes and toast soldiers (I can never resist a purple potato or a fun name). The space is small and charming with plenty of outdoor parking. They have a lovely outdoor dining area with lots of seating. You order inside at the counter, get a number, and they bring everything out to you. The menu is full of delicious, bready dishes, and I loved that they offer a wide selection of coffee drinks -- even matcha. You can find macchiatos, cortados, and more here. We ordered the egg in a jar with toast soldiers, a baguette sandwich, a matcha latte, a cappuccino, and of course a chocolate croissant to go as a sweet treat for the road. If I could afford the calories of eating bread every day, I'd be here daily. Every bread item we tried was incredible. The croissant was buttery and flaky, exactly as it should be. The baguette sandwich had the perfect balance of crunch and softness. And the toast soldiers were the ideal size and texture for scooping up the cheesy, creamy, eggy goodness in the jar. We visited on a Monday and it wasn't too busy. Staff was very friendly. If I lived closer, I'd be grabbing fresh bread from here all the time. A must‑stop for any bread lover exploring the area.

The potatoes were rich and comforting, topped with a perfectly poached egg and crispy bacon that blended together in every bite. It was indulgent without feeling too heavy, just incredibly satisfying. The grilled bread served on the side deserves special mention because it was honestly some of the best bread I've had. It was grilled beautifully with great flavor and texture, and it was perfect for scooping up every last bite. I also had to try some of the baked goods before leaving, and they were just as impressive as the savory food. You can really taste the care and quality in everything they make. The service was efficient and straightforward. It wasn't overly warm or chatty, but it also wasn't unfriendly. They seemed focused on getting orders out quickly and keeping things moving. The ambiance really made the experience even better. We sat on the covered outdoor patio, which was comfortable and inviting. There is also plenty of uncovered outdoor seating, while the indoor space is limited to one large communal table. The patio is definitely the way to go. This place has high reviews for a reason. The food is truly amazing, thoughtful, flavorful, and absolutely worth the visit. I will definitely be back
