Great food, and a slightly confusing menu! But it's all a part of the fun of eating at Tom's!

This establishment has definitely weathered the sands of time. It's been around for generations 45 years to be exact and has moved locations on only one occurrence to where they are now. I'm here on vacation and of course I always need to check it out when I visit one of two staples here. Service is impeccable as they always ensure your needs are attended to. The bacon cheeseburger was also just as good cooked to the correct temperature. The only downside is they don't have a military discount. read more

Customer service was ok, the menu is a bit confusing. They need to have some outdoor seating. The fries needed more salt. Their Chef salad was good a big portion good flavor and onion rings were good,crispy and crunchy, the bacon on the hamburger tasted good too. read more

Got to go to Tom's!! At first I did not want to visit due to the menu being formatted in an unfamiliar style, but then I decided not to be deterred by the creativity. (The burger menu is written A-Z and you need to read it carefully to decide which style burger you want). I'm glad I did not stay away. The service was very nice & took the review from four to five stars. The waitress was super busy but she hustled from table to table being so sweet to each person. I had the big long 1/2 pound burger, which is served on a long bun with all the fixings. I also had French fries. I wanted a shake too but they did not have that available. The burger was EXCELLENT!! It was cooked just right, very hot and all the toppings were in perfect balance to highlight the juicy hot flavor of the burger. The fries were very good too. Just your basic shoestring style, very little salt so you can add more if you like. They were served fresh & hot with ranch but there is ketchup on the table as well. I haven't lived in Lompoc since the 80's but I'd go to Tom's with my parents once in a while when visiting through the years. Somewhere along the line I forgot about it for some reason -maybe because of the location. But, I was in town recently visiting the siblings and I thought I'd look to see if Tom's was still around and was glad to see it was. I got the burger that my parents always got which is the one with the bacon and grilled green chili (ortega?) in it as did my sister. Her husband was intrigued by the burger with the sauerkraut in it so he gave that a try. We all loved it. Picked up the half order of fries and onion rings. I remember one of the things about Tom's was the gigantic full order of fries. Everything was great and I'm sure we'll be back when we're in town. read more

After a brief absence from Yelp, I am back! Today, I went to Tom's Burgers. The home of the educated burger. They offer choices from A to Z. Tom's is a large diner with a hometown feel. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries.. Delish! For dessert, I had a cup of coffee with a side of friendship. Whether you order a chicken Cobb salad, clam chowder, a burger, or breakfast, you won't be disappointed. I promise you will leave with a new friend, feel happy, have a full tummy, and still have money in your pocket. Enjoy your alphabetical burger experience, and please look for Jakob. I knew I was in for a treat when the waitress confided in me "we have very good ranch". Me and my kids all throughly enjoyed our burgers. "Possibly the best burger I've ever had!" Little diner hiding in the corner of the strip mall. You walk in and it has this unique layout. It's one of those places that still had a breakfast bar. It's a classic burger joint, delicious burgers, eclectic menu and they even leave out seasoned salt next to the regular salt and pepper. I just adore this place. Always have. Consistency is lacking in soooooo many restaurants/food establishments in Lompoc. Every time I come here, it's great and very friendly service, food is fantastic and ALWAYS the same. Which I love. You know exactly what you're getting. The Y burger is the best. My husband loves the "dirty Mary." If you have a huge appetite, I recommend that burger.^^^ Best ranch and diner onion rings. We came in tonight and stayed a few past closing time. My husband & I stopped into Tom's late Friday afternoon for an early dinner. I was going to opt for my usual bacon jalapeño cheddar burger, but saw they had fish & chips on the special board. So I figured, why not...everything I've ever had @ Tom's has always been good. The fish & chips were not good. Two sad little pieces of overly breaded, overly browned fish that I'm pretty sure came out of a Gorton's box were laid over a 1/4 basket of Tom's famous fries...thank God for the fries! I saw a couple familiar faces and a couple of new faces. I don't know if that attributed to the service slightly lacking (not the usual above & beyond) and the food being less than what Tom's usually delivers. My husband had a double cheeseburger & he was happy with it. The next time I opt for fish & chips, I'll walk down the breezeway to Alfies and I'll make sure to stick with a burger @ Tom's. read more

The first time I ate here was 1979 when it first opened over by the old JC Penney. First burger was the Teriyaki burger, and it has been etched in my mind ever since. My sister had her wedding rehearsal dinner here, at the current location back in 1995. The teriyaki burger was still awesome and tried the peanut butter burger as well and it was worth remembering. I went back to Lompoc, first time since 95 in 2021, and was heartbroken to see the town is a dumpster fire of what it used to be, and Tom's was closed. I guess you never can go back home again. Unfortunately every childhood memory of that town and this restaurant was tarnished that day. I wish this place well, I hope it's as good as it was in my younger years, because it's the only thing of value left in Lompoc. read more

This is the perfect spot for a greasy spoon breakfast. The decor is modest but the place is by no means dirty. We were seated right away and had awesome service the entire time we dined. We were left wanting for nothing. Our party of 5 ordered mostly two-egg breakfast plates with different variations of sausage, bacon and eggs. Some of us ate our food separately like civilized humans (me) and some mixed it all together until it was a pile of breakfast mush and then ate it like an animal (not pointing any fingers, John!). Regardless of our techniques, we all agreed the food was BOMB. Two others at our table were brave enough to try the Tubby Tommy Omelette and they loved them. They weren't able to finish them, of course, but they loved them all the same. It looks like this spot is known for its burgers and has a MASSIVE menu of burger options (they literally have one for each letter of the alphabet!) but, I think they should be known for their awesome breakfast! In a town where the main road is filled with food chains this is a local, somewhat hidden Lompoc gem. GREAT burgers. Great fries. Friendly service. The Burgers come with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, grilled or not, thousand island dressing, and are everything you'd want in a delicious burger. We used to order a full order of fries and in a attempt to cut back on these delicious fresh crispy delights, we changed to a half order. I'm not convinced they give you any less. . . Tom's burgers are legendary, and their menu is vast. This is the only place I've ever seen a hamburger with peanut butter on it... I tried it once, and it was pretty good.
