My sister ordered a surprise bag from PJ's deli on "Food to Go". Got to PJ's and the owners son said, " Oh, I didn't see the order". Tried coming here a couple times just to give them a chance, but there are MUCH better alternatives close by. Skip PI's, go to Bread Board or South Coast Specialty Foods. PJ's uses pre-sliced ingredients, so cannot accommodate requests like light or thinly sliced tomato. They charge more than their listed prices. Service is a mixed bag, some people pleasant others rude. The decor is also strange, from Star Wars to pictures of what I assume to be the owner skydiving. Also, they were out of bacon. Another day, Another Sammie. I'm at PJs Subs on College Ave. Very low key vibe. Sandwiches are reknown in the city for being fresh and satisfying. Students love it here. I ordered the Car Wash sandwich. The bread was soft, yet held the fillings great. Meat was good and the lettuce crisp. The one thing I wasn't too excited about was the amount of Italian dressing. I came here during lunch because of the student special and I was very disappointed. Come on, at least try to look like you're enjoying your job. I know, lunch might be a busy time but wow. The restaurant itself is nice, cool drinks. I got back to school and as I was about to take a bite into the sandwich, I saw a hair. I would've taken it back but my lunch was about to end. I ordered, I waited. Then after a while the sandwich maker said they didn't have chicken. So I ordered a hot pastrami which he had to microwave, then I get home and it was not bit lukewarm. At the shop I offered to take a cup of the soup of the day to offset the $4 , being they substituted my order. The soup was frozen and would not be available until next week. Sorry to say I won't be visiting PJ's again anytime soon. I was craving a Pastrami sandwich and waited patiently for my $11 sandwich to be made. It was BAD! The Pastrami had so much fat, it wasn't really meat! The sandwich was so soggy by the time I drove 1 mile to my home, it wasn't edible. I don't have money or time to waste hoping for a decent meal. Just got in from Vegas and was looking forward to eating at P.J.'s. We ate there a few years ago and it was fantastic but after today we will definitely not be going back. I ordered the California sandwich which says it comes with avocado but my sandwich didn't. The service was pretty good but it would be nice to get what you ordered. Also for the price of a small sandwich it's to expensive. My husband and both ordered regular size sandwiches with a large fountain soda and it came to just under $26 bucks. The staff that was prepping my food was not wearing gloves and she kept on touching her face and her mask was not covering her nose. I always go to pjs and i quite enjoy it to be honest. They are one of my favorite places to eat but sometimes they get my order wrong and today was absolutely the worst!! they usually get one of two things wrong witch is fine but it was unacceptable today. I got two sandwiches and they are not even close to what I ordered. One of then came with a completely different meat than asked for. Both of the sandwiches came without mustard, lettuce, and onion when asked for. they gave us both jalapeños on our sandwiches witch made the bread very soggy. No where else in town compares & if you are lucky, sometimes on Friday or Saturday you can catch them open late night. They have added trip tip that they BBQ on location and they will make things into a wrap as well. I promise you will not get a bad avocado here!!! My favorite sandwich/wrap spot in Lompoc! I've even called ahead orders before. Everything I've had there is amazing, and the staff is always friendly. They have root beer floats, shave ice and smoothies (new) which are all really good. You can make almost of the sandwiches vegan (just all veggies), they also have a vegetarian menu option. After reading the menu, I chose the Lieutenant sandwich, consisting of: hot pastrami, melted provolone, cream cheese, mayo, avocado, lettuce and olives. The sandwich was served on your super market variety french roll -- not the kind from the deli, but the six little soft ones you get in the plastic bag -- the amount of pastrami was pathetic, literally a three slices, a ton of lettuce and two slivers of avocado. For such high recommendations, this place really underperformed and left me leaving hungry and underwhelmed. This is their craft and they take true pride in it!!! I havent been to PJs Deli since 2014. I was feeling nostalgic today and went over to buy a sandwich..... omg.... I can not express enough how incredibly perfect it was. I literally bought "the perfect" with roastbeef. Im disappointed in myself that I havent been back since 2014! I dont give out many 5 star ratings. But P.J's deserves this. Frist the food is good. You get just enough to fill you up and not wanting more. I got the deluxe sandwich. Its just messy enough to enjoy and still walk away clean after. Next is the environment, the staff is very friendly and up on whats happening in the community. This is an all around good place to eat. If your ever driving through lompoc, make sure to stop by. They are located behind jack in the box. Last, the cherry on top is that they have free WiFi. I'm a huge fan of PJ's! I'm not a native Lompoc-ian but my bf is and when he took me here a few years ago, I was so delighted at how fresh the ingredients were and how friendly the staff was. We recently moved back to Lompoc and I was so glad that they're still here and still making their fresh subs with a smile! I especially love their Italian dressing that they offer on their subs and I'll admit that I'll ask for extra to use with other food at home! It's not too oily or vinegar-y and still has a lot of flavor that makes it so you don't need to smother the bread with mayo or other heavier dressing. Yes, parking is a little complicated, what with the car wash next door...but I have no problem parking on the street. Especially if you're just stopping in to take your sammich to go - they can get your order done real quick. read more

This is a great place for high school students if they don't want school lunch to come here. Average sandwiches. No special twist in them. Same thing if you made them at home. I support small businesses but they got to have something about them that bring you back for more. I'll be nice and just say it's a place for high school students.
