My husband and I popped into Caffe Paradiso super spontaneously - found on Yelp, of course. We needed shelter from the frozen Boston landscape before heading to Logan for holiday travel. And, seeing that we'd soon be spending 8 hours on a full flight, we needed something warm, comforting, and alcoholic. The answer was as clear as the frostbite on our faces: spiked hot chocolates. Caffe Paradiso checked all the boxes. The bartender/barista spiked the cocoas (one with rum, one with vodka). There was some real chocolate in there (judging by the remnants in the cup) vs the powdered stuff. The service was friendly. The place was clean & decorated for the holidays. Caffe Parasdiso is old world, old school. If your looking for some trendy place where the tourists hit, you are in the wrong spot. This place is very European and in a cool way. There are little cafe tables on each side for seating and Italian and European Soccer games are on the televisions (some times American Football too). People come to hang out, read the paper and relax. It does really feel like Europe and Italy. We ordered a cannoli, the cheesecake with chocolate fondant, chocolate Gelato and two coffees. The coffee was excellent and my latte was so good I almost ordered an expresso. However, I needed to sleep some time later so I didn't. The cheesecake was outstanding, not overly sweet and the fondant put it over the top good. The gelato was the best chocolate we have have ever had and it had this ultra rich chocolate taste. The cannoli was filled to order and excellent. Caffe Paradiso is a very cool, versatile and unique place that has a bar, a coffee shop, a bakery, and a gelato shop. After dinner, I came here with my buddies for dessert. On busy nights, the place is a little smaller than imagined, with limited seating. One of the reasons we liked this cafe is that it has a selection of cute desserts, gelatos, and coffee drinks. I had the hot chocolate with frappe and tiramisu, which I quite enjoyed. I was hoping to sample the cheesecake, but they were sold out that night. However, the dinner I received was still amazing, and it was the ideal way to close our evening. Came here after Easter Sunday mass. We were looking for a place to have some light food and came across to this place. The place was a bit busy but they were quickly able to accommodate the 4 of us. Cappuccino, chocolate biscotti, and cannoli: It was a bit brisk outside so drinking the cappuccino added some warmth. Cannoli and biscotti were great! Biscotti was not too hard and the cannoli was creamy with a crispy hard outer shell. When I come back to Boston, I'll definitely come back here again. Just tried to have a dessert and drink here. We were refused service with vested service dog, we were told we need to have a certificate to have a service dog, which is not true. Good gelato, but appalling service. We came in tonight around 10:15pm and ordered 4 servings of gelato and one ganache cheesecake; the latter order was to-go so my sister could take it home to share half with her husband. Three small kids were with us enjoying the gelato (yummy!) and we sat at a table to finish our cones before we headed home for the night. Half of our group is on vacation, and at one point earlier in the day, we had bought a tiny souvenir macaron cookie. We took out the cookie for one of our tired preschoolers in the group (it's about 10:30pm by this point). One of the waitresses came over and told us that no outside food was allowed on their premises and asked us to leave. She then added that the cheesecake was to-go and therefore it could not be eaten at the table, despite the other 4 of us that were still eating our cones. We began cleaning up our table to leave, and I notified the bartender who watched the situation unfold that we understood that there was no outside food allowed, but the way she told us to leave felt uncomfortable as customers. The bartender was gentle and nice, but unfortunately the same waitress cane over to where he and I were speaking and got really angry and began snapping at us. As we got up to leave, I took a photo of the inside of the place (as I always do to tack on to my reviews). The waitress was convinced that I took a photo of her and started running after us, screaming as we exited for me to give her my phone. We continued to exit and ignored her, but then she followed us down the street incessantly screaming at us and threatening to call the police for unlawfully taking a photo of her. We had 3 children with us and 4 adults. She kept screaming for me to give her my phone and wouldn't stop following us. Our kids were crying and were scared and confused. We were afraid. We finally got far enough away that she stopped pursuing us. This was the most appalling and frightening experience I've ever had at a business. read more

Oh my this is the best place for gelato and everything that goes with it in the North End. We stopped in for a gelato and were treated like family! We loved meeting Adrian and Rita and their friends. This is the closest thing to Italy! My husband and I went 3 times during our summer vacay in Beantown.

Very unimpressed. The service and atmosphere was very weird. It almost felt like a cafe where high schoolers go for dates, but Caffe Paradiso has a full bar and serves alcohol. The waitress was friendly but super elusive. It felt super awkward each time trying to order something on the menu or at the counter or to just get a cup of water. She recommended the Pistachio Martini, made from vanilla vodka, amaretto, a splash of midori and a scoop of homemade pistachio gelato, because it was a popular item on the menu. It tasted absolutely horrible and just like cough syrup. The Chocolate Martini that my friend got was terribly sweet and tasted weird with an orange peel. We ended up getting scoops of gelato afterwards, which were delicious thankfully. Weird vibe paired with bad "signature" drinks is a no-go in my book. Next! read more

Boston is a walking city, and after hours of strolling back and forth between Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, the Waterfront, the North End, and back, we were ready for a break and we sure found the perfect place with a stop at the Caffé Paradiso. It's an incredibly versatile place- part bar, part coffee shop, part bakery, and part gelato shop. We ordered two coffee drinks (a cappuccino for $3.75 and an iced cappuccino $4.50) and two pastries (a $4 chocolate chip cannoli and a $5.50 Bosco Torte). My iced cappuccino was a frothy frozen drink that was similar to a granita. It was superb. My Bosco Torte was a heavenly slice of Ricotta cheesecake topped with berries. We ordered an Italian Panino to split on the bus ride home-and it was very good with a generous portion of prosciutto, mozzarella, fresh tomato, and basil. It was plain old delicious! All that food and drink ran us just $26. Service was OUTSTANDING, the guys we interacted with were super nice and polite. read more

An old-style cafe with lots of wood paneling. Just one cashier/server. She seemed tired/frazzled. Ordered the baba rum and a red velvet dessert . Did not get the cannoli. Everything was dried out. Although I only tried the espresso martini, it was on point as was the service, as I was greeted as soon as I came in the door and again at the bar. It may have been in part because it was slow (right after 5PM, before dinner time), but I always appreciate that friendly touch, especially in a busy city like Boston. I experienced probably the worst customer service ever. I went to Boston for 3 days, and in my 1st day I walked like 20 miles knowing the city. I was really tired and crashed in the first coffee shop I found in Hangover... the weather was super hot, and in the menu I only found Martinis, gelato, coffee and tea. I asked for an ice tea and they said they don't have that... I asked for a regular tea and a cup of ice, and they brought that to me (which was exactly an ice tea LOL). When I was drinking the half of my glass a woman came with the check and she told me they are closing. I put my credit card and she returned saying in a very rude tone that I can't pay with credit card since I only asked for a tea (I wanted to drink many more tea and maybe eating a cake, but they told me "we are closing"), so I said "I only have credit cards and I didn't have enough time to even finish my tea", and this lady said "you know you can not pay with credit card when you are only asking for a tea!, go to the ATM!". After walking 20 miles I was not happy with this. So I called my boyfriend (he was having a business dinner in a restaurant near by) and he had to come to help me paying in cash). The things is: they were not even closing!, only the outside part, and this woman didn't even give me the time to order or to even rest a little bet or to be aware that I could sit inside and ask for more things. I've been to this Caffe many times since I moved to the North End neighborhood 3 years ago. It's a great spot for drinks/snack anytime of the day. I highly recommend their red sangria, each cup is filled with delicious fruit and is by far the best sangria in north end. Recently, my friends and I discovered the pistachio martini- absolutely delicious with a scoop of homemade gelato (crafted by the owner Andrian). We have tried the tiramisu (which is made with lady fingers imported from Italy) the pistachio gelato homemade by the owner which pistachios she roasts herself to incorporate, and their mini cannolis. Their cannolis are the best on the block and the perfect 2-3 bite size (not overly massive like some). Delightful. I adore places like this- European-style sit-down unhurried table service-ish cafe that exclusively focuses on drinks and snacks/sweets, usually with a wide-open storefront so you can watch the world go by, and don't feel pressured to get in and get out. I wish we had more of them, but there's only a few in the area- Caffe Vittoria, Caffe Dello Sport-, and Caffe Paradiso is my favorite. What sets Caffe Paradiso apart is the friendly service and caring owners- Vittoria's a classic, but the service tends towards curt and brusque, as compared to Paradiso's lovely staff. Their menu is also excellent- they have about a dozen different kinds of boozy coffee drinks which are perfection in a glass IMO. We didn't want our prime parking to go to waste so we put "Espresso Martini" in the Yelp search and this place was within walking distance. I had their Espresso Martini with fresh espresso and it was divine! I also had to try their "Award Winning" Pistachio Martini served over pistachio gelato - creative and delicious. Their bar is quaint and classic Italian. Most of their patrons spoke Italian and the TV was also in Italian. It was great! We tried their Tiramisu which was wonderful but a bit overpriced at $10.95. I have been here before and enjoyed it in the past. However tonight we did not have the same experience. A sign says "seat yourself" and the tables are small seating 2, so the 4 of us pushed 2 tables together. When approached by a server, we were asked "do you really need two tables?" And she scoffed as she walked away. This was incredibly uncomfortable and we were left unserved for some time before we decided to move our party to a more welcoming establishment. Caffé Vittoria proved to be that place, and will continue to be my martini bar in The North End moving forward. read more
