I have been here before and enjoyed it in the past. However tonight we did not have the same experience. A sign says "seat yourself" and the tables are small seating 2, so the 4 of us pushed 2 tables together. When approached by a server, we were asked "do you really need two tables?" And she scoffed as she walked away. This was incredibly uncomfortable and we were left unserved for some time before we decided to move our party to a more welcoming establishment. Caffé Vittoria proved to be that place, and will continue to be my martini bar in The North End moving forward. read more

I have been going to this café since the early 2000s. It was the place to go before or after clubbing. I have so many bitter sweet memories of this place that will live in my gelato heart forever. This is the anti - tourist spot in Boston. The regulars come here. You don't need to walk around with a box with a bakery's name on it to feel authentic in the North of the Bos! Just amazing pastries, coffee and delish cocktails. Truly feels like you are in Europe. Love all the staff at the restaurant. Try the pistachio martini! Best bet with any joint in this area is to Uber or take public trans. There is limited street parking and the nearby parking garages. read more

The waitresses were rude. It started with letting us know that we were sitting at a table for 4 which there were a few open all were for four. She then asked if we would like to sit outside in the blazing sun when they had plenty open. Then she came back 20 minutes later took our order and must have flown back to Italy to get the gelato and then appeared at our table with the wrong order. Then she tried to convince us that is what we ordered. Don't understand how people come here unless it's because they are the only ones without a line. read more

After so many Starbucks coffees, I'd forgot what quality coffee tastes like, namely cappuccinos. So, I ordered a cappuccino. It was $4. But unlike the $4 cappuccino I'd get from Starbucks, this was a real, legit one. The foam was on point. The espresso was so smooth. The front of the shop was open and it was a beautiful Saturday, so I ordered it "for here" (something I hardly ever do) and enjoyed my coffee. Just a wonderful experience overall. read more

Overall - wow! A no frills and very classic Italian dessert and drinks kind of place. They make their own gelato and are very proud of their cannolis which have won some awards or recognitions. The food - I came for the sole purpose of getting gelato but was ultimately convinced to get a cappuccino as well as a cannoli. I chose the tiramisu gelato which was so good and rich. You could taste the tiramisu flavor to it both the cream, coffee, and chocolate. I was actually impressed since most tiramisu ice cream I've tried is just too sweet or doesn't really even resemble tiramisu. The cannoli was the highlight. I loved the shell, it was crispy and it had a nice taste to it - not too sweet. The ricotta filling was incredible! It was sweet but not at all overbearing and it made the entire cannoli a must have. The place - very unassuming spot. It is a bit dark on the inside but really great sitting if you can be by the open door/windows area. It is a great spot to chat as well as to people watch. When I went in, during a weekday night, there weren't many people and I didn't have to wait at all. I'm sure this may be different during the weekends or holidays. read more

Charmingly old-school. I don't drink coffee too much, but I will always get a cup when I'm at Paradiso. It's a great place to sit down with some friends and just chat away. It somehow feels very satisfying to just sit back and have wait service for coffee. The coffee and the desserts that I have tried have been good. Time slows down a bit here, and you feel a little closer to the old continent. PS: 600th Review. Woot! read more

Awesome cafe! I came here after dinner to get some dessert aka the tiramisu, and it was really tasty! The dessert is really light and not too sweet, and there was a good balance of cake and cream. I was a big fan of it. It's also really big for a dessert, but at the same time it was quite pricey at $11.50 pre-tax. The ambiance and decor are pleasant and it's a good place to chill and chat. read more

Terrible service. everyone seemed upset there. Wanted to find a nice cafe to work for an hour. Was seated promptly and I ordered a coffee. I took out my laptop and a woman walked over quickly and shook her finger at me "no screens" she said. That's fine I thought. Coffee came and drank it in 2 minutes so i could work elsewhere. From there I was ignored as other tables were checked frequently. I flagged down the server and asked for the check, it took over 30 minutes for the check to come. Finally I could leave, now I find out it's a 10 dollar minimum. I ask if they can just charge 10 dollars for the coffee. No they cant, they suggest i have another coffee. I ask for another coffee to go that I don't need, and now need to wait for that to be made. Finally pay and leave. What terrible start to a Sunday morning. I assume they don't want people sitting around working which I respect. But why then have me sitting around anyway with an empty cup of coffee for so long. When I was paying in the back I see tiny signs with these rules. They should have them at the tables otherwise there is no way to know. read more

I had the panino, a shot of espresso, and a pistachio cake. Everything was good especially that cake. The beautiful woman from Albany who was serving everyone was great as well. ALRIGHT. COMPLETE RIP OFF. Came in here for gelato (they have a pretty good selection and everything is homemade) after dinner and just to stroll around at 20 degrees outside. Gelato and snow always go hand in hand!! When I came in, it seemed to be busy since all the seats were filled. Was going to take it and walk around anyway. Was greeted by 2 girls. One immediately helped and I asked about gelato prices. She said it would be $5 for 2 scoops- proceeding to ask if it was going to be here or togo. It doesn't matter? I don't really need a table? Okay whatever i'm taking it with me. So i go to look at flavors further and there are plenty to choose from! BTW: NO SAMPLES. Not sure what the big deal was with trying but i guess they don't wanna allow customers to taste and they loose money- yes i know it adds it but still. I ended up buying 2 scoops and when one of the girls rung me up, it came up to be $10. OKAY WAIT, didn't the other girl just say $5?? The two girls ended up saying "well if you eat it here then its this much and if you take it its this much" SERIOUSLY? Why aren't the prices fixed anywhere? It took me by surprise because if i had known it was going to be that much, i would not have even bought it to begin with. BEWARE because you're gonna be charged double of what you were told. Anyways, i ended up getting the hazelnut chocolate? and coffee. BOMB!!! The hazelnut had gooey delicious quality in it. You could taste how creamy and fine everything was made. It was so good! Was just really ticked off with my experience but I was blown away by the deliciousness of the gelato! $10 for 2 small scoops? MEH. read more

Fantastic cocktails in the North End. Highly recommend if you're waiting for drinks before dinner. Or as an after dinner nightcap.

Great gelato but expensive. Three tiny scoops for about 8 dollars. But if you want real gelato, paying 8 dollars might be worth it. I've had a lot of gelato here and there but this place is the only place that had real peices of hazelnut in hazelnut gelato, real pieces of pistachio in pistachio gelato and espresso lady fingers in tiramisu gelato. Still, my frugal self thinks it's a bit expensive. read more

I phoned my favorite Washingtonian at the Nine Zero Hotel and requested he bring back cannolis from his business trip to Boston. Not only did he oblige me, he even went to two different shops to accomplish the mission. The cannoli he brought me back from Caffe Paradiso was every bit as delicious as the Bostonian who recommended it claimed it would be. And this is after being carried in a rucksack through the airport and otherwise manhandled for 10+ hours before I could devour it. The filling was only a touch sweet, allowing the creaminess to shine through. Dipped in dark chocolate, this dessert was about as good as you can get. My first stop the next time I'm in Boston? Similar to Caffe Dello Sport (see my 4 star review of that) and just down the street from it this place is a bit better. After dinner, we asked our waitress where she would go for the best cannolis this late in the North End. She directed us to Caffe Paradiso. Not Mike's, not Modern, not even Vittoria. I thought it was an interesting pick so we hustled over there and ordered a cannoli each and some decaf Irish coffee. Both were sweet, satisfying and served by an adorable waitresses who, even this late at night, were so pleasant and welcoming. Things that pass the test so far at Caffe Paradiso: -cannoils (that are stuffed right in front of you as you order them!) -iced lattes -gelato -irish coffee -service read more

For some quiet time in the North End and a break away from touristy lines, head to Caffe Paradiso. We immediately walked up to the counter to check out the cannoli and then marveled at everything else. I saw profiteroles and had to have some. Hungry Man saw the cannoli shells and was confused. Why were the shells empty? Caffe Paradiso fills them upon order. They are fresh! We opted for table service and Caffe Paradiso was more than accommodating. The friendly service and relaxing atmosphere was perfect after conquering Bunker Hill. I was going to order two chocolate dipped cannoli when Hungry Man interjected and said we should get one plain and one chocolate instead. We would be sharing everything anyway. Hungry Man share? I wish there was someone else there we knew to witness this monumental moment. Luckily Yelp is here to immortalize it. The cannolis were divine! Much better than Mike's Pastry. I've actually never had a plain cannolo before and the one at Caffe Paradiso was excellent. It was simple with powdered sugar and the filling was smooth. The shells were strong. I had to hold them down while I cut them in half with my fork. I didn't want a Pretty Woman moment and have half a cannolo catapult across the room. The chocolate connolo shell was dipped inside and out with chocolate. Even better than the plain. As for the profiteroles, they should have stayed in the glass case. Plated, they looked like blobs with a sad attempt of whipped cream. The profiteroles weren't filled. They were just okay and salvaged by the mousse-y exterior. Skip this if you ever go to Caffe Paradiso. I washed everything down with an iced coffee. Iced coffee at cafes are really growing on me and the coffee at Caffe Paradiso is pretty good. It's strong without being too bitter and they give you a really tall glass. Caffe Paradiso is decorated with flags everywhere. I thought it was just for the World Cup but I think this is just their thing. I've heard of futbol bars before, but futbol caffes? There are some nice tvs throughout so you can enjoy your cannolo while watching a sports game. I don't know why more people don't go to Caffe Paradiso but I'm glad it hasn't been taken over by the crowds. Thanks to Dan C for telling me about this place. I'll be sure to return every time I am in town. read more

Legitimately some of the rudest management I've ever experienced. 2 days after my girlfriend received surgery we went to get a coffee. My girlfriend needed to put her foot up on a chair in order to comfortably sit. The first waitress told her to take her foot off the chair. When informed of the surgery she had a look of skepticism - as if someone were to lie about that. We order and then the owner decides to come over and yell you got a foot on my chair. Her cheap $10 chair. What absolutely horrible horrible people. And from a place I used to go weekly. read more

Came here after a huge dinner at Neptune Oyster. We heard that the cannoli here were really good. The first time I tried Mike's I thought that was bomb... but this place has hands down the best cannoli in town! They only serve plain or chocolate cannoli. I ordered the chocolate cannoli. As soon as the waitress brought the cannoli I knew it was going to be delicious!! Gelato - $6.50 Tiramisu - $8.50 Macciato - $2 Total before tip - $18ish In search of a bathroom and gelato, we decided to give Caffe Paradiso a shot. The bathroom was great, the rest not so much. Upon perusing the menu, I was a bit taken aback at the dessert prices ($6.50 - 7.25 for gelato). Having just overindulged at Neptune Oyster, I feared I'd receive a mountain of presumably mind-blowing gelato. Fail on both counts. My gelato was not mountainous nor was it mind-blowing. My gelato was in fact quite average, more akin to an italian ice or sorbet - lacking the creaminess one would expect from gelato. Looking at some of the other reviews, I'm apparently not the only one who was perplexed by their water policy. When I asked for a glass of water, our server told me I had to get it at the bar; fine, but strange. I went to the bar expecting to find a pitcher, cooler or something, but instead had to ask the bartender for a cup of water. I'd understand if we hadn't ordered anything, but is serving a paying customer a glass of water that big of an inconvenience? Especially, when it's coming from the bar, the same bar that's making our other beverage! Lamesauce. On the upside this place had a public restroom and wasn't crowded; on the downside the steep prices for average desserts aren't justified. read more

Very authentic Italian cafe. Great drinks, gelato, and service. Italian jazz music created great ambiance.

I thought the ice cream here was pretty good. I ordered an Oreo Cookie scoop. There was also plenty of space which was nice to accommodate my group of 8. For 8 people I paid $63 which I thought was fairly pricey for ice cream. It is located in a great spot in little Italy. My server was very nice, thought it took quite a while to get our dessert which we thought was odd since it is all pre-made and we didn't have any customizations. Overall, not a bad choice! read more

Nice spot to grab a coffee and relax for a bit (pre-covid times). On weekends, this spot fills up fast so expect to wait ~20min for a table. Perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. We came over here to the North End to check it out and to get a canolli. I've never had a canolli and... Yes, I'm serious. No,I nevah had a canolli. So R. And C. said that they were going to take me to Mike's for a canolli. It was the thing to do if you're visiting Boston. Now me, I'm a rebel by heart. So if people are ranting about someplace, I usually think it's all hype. Lucky me, that when we got to Mike's there was 2 lines out the door about 20+ deep. Nothing is THAT good that you gotta stand out in the cold for a half hour. Se we decided to head up the block or 2. When I saw the name Caffe Paradiso I suggested that we go there. It wasn't crowded and it looked warm and cozy in there. And besides, it's named after one of my favorite movies. So yeah, I ordered a canolli and a cappuccino. That's right, that's what I said, "a cappuccino." (for those who don't know yet...I'm an espresso elitist.) I automatically knew as I walked in the door and took a look at the joint that this was place that know how to make a real freakin' cap. And....I was right. It was perfect. Bliss. Since the first place we wanted to go to closed early, we looked across the street and saw Caffe Paradiso. We walked in and we were seated. I ordered a hot chocolate and my friend ordered the gelato that came with three flavors in which she ordered the hazelnut, cappuccino, and tiramisu. Forget Mike's Pastries and their Americanized version of cannoli. If you want authentic Italian cannoli or gelato or espresso, you'll find them here as this busy bar. This is where you'll find the local Italians hanging out, talking, or watching the World Cup. The homemade gelato is superb. The cannoli is to die for.
