I'm not going to lie, we were very skeptical to try this place out from the reviews on here but we gave it a go anyways. Boy, oh boy am I so glad that we did. We had 5:30 reservations for a party of five and got sat right away. Our server was very attentive and gave great recommendations. For appetizers we got the calamari and the Itri egg rolls. Both appetizers were absolutely delicious! The aioli that was drizzled over the calamari absolutely made that dish! We then ordered pizza for the little, gnocchi with the Italian sausage, a special they were offering, the veal chops, and the chicken sorrentino. In place of mashed potatoes with the sorrentino I got their penne with pink vodka sauce. The sauce was scrumptious! I sometimes just wish they would drown the pasta with the sauce when it is that good. Everyone at the table was absolutely happy with their dish and the portion sizes were perfect! Next we had dessert, creme Brûlée and cannoli. I was not impressed with the cannoli filling but the creme brûlée was the absolute best creme brûlée I have ever had. First time dining this past Saturday and far exceeded my expectations! We were greeted promptly and seated next to the bar area which was still private, comfortable and nicely decorated. My only issue would be with the white paper placed over the table linens; not a first class look though practical. Our server, Ryan, was flawless. Personable and attentive without being intrusive. After ordering a bottle of wine and enjoying the bread and olive oil, we order the grilled pizza special as an appetizer which was excellent. Crust was crispy and their sauce and toppings perfect. We followed with a chicken and pasta entree and the pork tenderloin. Both presented perfectly and tasted amazing. Can't say enough good things about Ryan and our first experience! This was the first time to Caffe Itri with my family celebrating a birthday. It was highly recommended by coworkers. At first it was very disappointing as we had to wait 40 minutes to have our drinks served, after I complained to the manager. And then at the 35 minute mark we finally ordered dinner. Dinner was served an hour later. And it was actually quite noisy. We thought the wait for most everything was excessive, however the food was very good. Reserved bar seats.... waited half an hour to sit and seats were available at the bar, we were told these were reserved seats but no one was sitting there. 30 minutes later the chosen 3 arrived and were seated at the bar.I have no issues with reserving seating for regulars but honestly, this is aggravating reserved seating is normally for tables and bar seating is for those waiting for seating. I came here on a Friday night with my mom. The restaurant was busy but we were the second party in line. My mom is 82 years old. We stood for more than 10 minutes watching the person who we were told by the other patrons in line was the hostess pour drinks and talk to people working at the bar. Not once did she come over to ask us or anyone else how many we were or to let us know how long a wait we would have. Being that we were 15 feet from the bar it was not like no one knew we were there. Finally we walked out and went to Antonio's up the street where we were promptly greeted and had a very good meal. I guess I can scratch Caffe Itri from my to try list! Pretty disappointed. I can't say how good or poor the food is because we were never served. Came in at lunch hour. Seated quickly in a mostly empty restaurant, so we thought we would be able to pull off a quick lunch. Much to our dismay, we sat with menus for fifteen minutes before simply changing our mind and leaving the restaurant. A table of six came in about ten minutes after we arrived, and they had drink and lunch orders taken before we were even greeted by our waiter or waitress. Went here last night with a family member who loves the place. Glad they have a parking lot with ample space. The restaurant is clean but overall, I was pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered the steak to share with my partner and when they brought it, they didn't bring an extra plate or even an extra steak knife. It was pretty awkward. We never share but we've been traveling and so this time I decided to be health conscious and eat half the steak with a side of veggies so you know....the guy just made it awkward. The steak was ok but definitely not worth the $$. Any steak that has to be covered in sauce is hiding something, and there were several super chewy places. Spinach was delicious. This is a quiet, good Italian food, great service restaurant. We sat behind the bar area in an outside but covered extension to the dinning area. Cute little twinkling lights are nicely placed throughout and soft music plays. Wearing jeans is fine for a relaxing evening, this is not a fancy establishment. We ordered a steak special. My boyfriend and I decided to go for dinner over the weekend. I'm so happy we did because the food was super yummy! We each had a little of each other's dishes. I got the veal piccata and he got the penne with vodka sauce. We also split an antipasto. The staff was great and friendly. I was here with reservations , for my anniversary, and ordered the 24.95 Pt. Judith Sea Scallops. There were 4 scallops over a bed of spinach and couscous. One still had the membrane attached. When the hostess asked us how things were, and I mentioned it, she said she would inquire. She never got back to us, so when I asked the again, she said Ma'am, I don't run the kitchen . I told the waitress I was disappointed. It was our 41 year wedding anniversary. After paying the 141.00 bill, I left wondering why the owner couldn't invest in some insulation for the building so it could be some thing less than annoying loud. read more

I've been going to Caffe Itri for over 20 years, but for some reason it'd fallen out of my wife and my rotation of restaurants. In all the time we've been coming, we've never been disappointed, and in fact, one of our favorite pizzas to make at home (pesto, prosciutto, fresh tomatoes, and fontina) is our attempt to replicate a grilled pizza we had here years ago. We visited again recently and are very pleased to say that Caffe Itri is as great as its always been. The genre here is authentic, moderately priced Italian, and Caffe Itri nails it. It's not fancy or tricked up, just fresh, genuine, perfectly prepared and executed Tuscan food. We started with the fried calamari and beet salad. The calamari was perfect, crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. The beet salad is a pretty simple one, but great ingredients and execution add up to a wonderful, delicious dish. The pesto grilled pizza was as terrific as we remembered. My kids love carbonara and Italian sausage, to they got these 2 dishes. My wife got the seafood risotto and I got the chicken piccata, both of which were perfect. All the seafood was tender and sweet, and my piccata was fork tender, with a spot on mix of zingy lemon and salty capers and olives. All our dishes had the perfect balance of richness but not heaviness. If I could give half stars, I think Caffe Itri would be four and half stars. Reasonably priced, Italian comfort food doesn't get better than this. read more

Awful food ... zERO seasoning used (pasta was also overlooked and under salted..) I had the carbonara and they couldn't even be bothered to cook the pancetta that was in it - gross! My boyfriend had the veal scaloppine, and it was limp and lifeless. Also, since when do cannellini beans and veal go together? Cheap cheap cheap! And to make matters so much worse, we waited over an hour to get our food. It took them half an hour to seat us. Complete waste of a night. Totally disappointed and will not be going back. read more

After a day full of yard work an early dinner (or Linner as my bff calls this meal :-) ) at Caffe Itri was just what my husband and I needed! Though we arrived close to when the doors opened, starving as we had skipped lunch, we were warmly welcomed and opted to sit at the bar. What a great decision! The two bartenders were so friendly and true professionals. We were immediately set up with bread and delicious drinks. I opted for a specialty martini and my husband his stand by, jack and ginger. One problem that always arises when I dine here is what am I going to get?! The menu items are always excellent and the specials are out of this world. Tonight we both opted for staple items on the menu for our main dishes; penne itri (with rigatoni (homemade) and grilled chicken) and rigatoni arrabiata with grilled chicken. The salad special was too good to pass up so we split that along with stuffed mushrooms, both were amazing. The salad had such wonderful flavors and was just perfect for the warm summer days. Though it was not busy, the atmosphere was perfect for us after a busy day. I know it does get busy later and is still very enjoyable. Food and service were so good that not only did I have lunch there but also dinner all in the same day! After telling my husband how much I enjoyed my lunch he wanted go that evening...it was well worth it! The kitchen is extremely accommodating with substitutions to the point where you can pretty much customize your meal.. This is my FAVORITE Cranston Restaurant. However, we decided to order the specialty grilled pizza for the evening with a casear salad. We might add that our order is usually to die for.... but tonite for some reason the pizza was extremely dry, rhe cheese was hard and no olive oil at all on it. Not too mention that the casear salad which costs $12.00 for romaine, dressing and a handful of croutons could have fit in the palm of my hand. Wednesday evening was my first visit to Cafe Itri, it will not be my last! Upon entering the Host/Manager at the door was very welcoming! Our server Sabrina was amazing! She was very attentive to our needs and wants. She was also training a server named Jeffery on how to open bottles of wine. He was also great and friendly. Our busser was great as well. I had the worst experience at this restaurant. We had a party of 10, the waiter was friendly, nice guy. He came to get our drink orders. We ordered 2 bottles of champagne. After waiting a while he came back to tell us they only had 1 bottle left...okay. No problem. It took 25 min to get that first bottle of champagne. Then we proceeded to order a bottle of wine and 2 other drinks. Another 20-30min of waiting for those drinks. Then I realized we had no bread. Even after another member of our party asked for it. We didn't have bread or drinks or anything until 30min in to us sitting there, that's horrible. Then we ordered appetizers. 2 pizzas, that's it. Our reservation was at 6:30pm. We didn't get appetizers until 8pm. That is absolute insanity. INSANITY!!! We were starving! At that point we were like what's even the point in having appetizers. The bus boy literally put the appetizer plates on top of the hard menus because we hadn't even ordered dinner yet... that gave me a laugh not gonna lie. We got entrees at 8:30. TWO HOURS after we got there. Ridiculous. But honestly, the worst part about it was how AWFUL the manager Barbara handled it. My mom, who made the reservation, went up to her about an hour in, to tell her how bad the service has been thus far. She said "let me go see what's going on". She came again at some point. And every time we tell her something she just like smiles and nods....doesn't seem like she actually cares. She came for the last time when we got entrees. Which on top of all of it, my entree was completely wrong and so I had no food for about 10 minutes while everyone else ate. So she comes by, asks if anything else is wrong. And we start to tell her yes...I have no food it was wrong, still missing drinks, an entree was cold, I ordered my son a chocolate milk like 30 min ago....No apology. Nothing. INSTEAD, she proceeded to feed us bullshit about how "in all honesty the pizzas were only in for 20min...so he must have not put them fast" blaming her server!!! And then also said some bullshit like "well he was busy with all the alcohol you ordered", how about you be THANKFUL we ordered like 5 bottles at your restaurant! That is NOT how you manage a restaurant . Restaurants are a place of hospitality and customer service. And we did not receive that at all. She honestly made the experience the worst. If she had just apologized and comped something for us, it would've helped. She didn't comp anything!!! After all that! Not even a freaking appetizer or drink! We didn't leave until 9:30. And then she dared to ask my aunt "what would you do in this situation" because my aunt owns a restaurant. We had reservations for 6:30 on a Monday and it was actually relatively busy. None of us had been there before and we were all impressed. Two of us got specials, two got menu items. My special was a salmon with risotto. It was delicious. We split two deserts. The crème brule was amazing, and they got the tiramisu. The perk I thought was that even though we were somewhat near the door, the place was still warm. I hate being near the door in the winter and every time it opens, you get cold. I would recommend Cafe ITRI because the food and drinks. Our waiter was exceptional and friendly. The only reason I wouldn't go back is the hostess. She was giving us dirty looks because she wanted us to leave. When she finally came to our table she was so rude. We were told that we had to leave our table because she figured 2 hours would have been enough and we were there for 2.5 hours. We were told that we could go to the back bar to talk. We were never told that there was a time limit when we made reservations or when she sat us down. We left. Apparently since we paid our bill she expected us to just get up and leave. If you are looking for a friendly host that will say hello you're in the wrong place. read more

Had a lovely dinner here. The space is very warm and romantic, and they've got a nice outdoor patio. They start you with a bread basket and a bottle of olive oil. Our group of four ordered the calamari and pan-fried mozzarella for appetizers. Both were very good, though the fried mozzarella had the slightest taste of chicken, so I just wish it had been fried in separate oil. Our entrees were delicious. I had the fusilli chicken asparagus which I would totally order again, and the boys all loved their chicken parms. The food was great though the bar could use some improvement. I had a hard time finishing my cocktail, and my boyfriend received a Yuengling when he had ordered a Sams. Of course, this mistake was graciously corrected, but I might stick to wine here since they've been receiving the wine spectator award of excellence for some years.Our server was absolutely fabulous. I brought my family, with two young children, for dinner in January 2010. We all agreed that our meals were fantastic. Great appetizers, and wonderful homemade, fresh pasta dishes. My wife is a vegetarian, and there were plenty of great choices for her as well. In fact, we were impressed by the range of delicious options on the menus and daily specials. The ambience is very nice inside, it is a family-run and very friendly business, and the service was EXCELLENT. Very attentive wait staff who seemed to really care that we had a nice evening. We eat Italian food quite often, and this restaurant is now up pretty high in our rankings. We plan to return regularly. read more

We were quite unimpressed with the dinner we recently ordered to go. They should be embarrassed to serve a dinner portion of their eggplant parm like the one we received. It was two paper thin slices of eggplant for $15 on penne, really no eggplant! We will not order again and eat at this restaurant if that is what they think of their customers hard earned money. Tried Caffe Itri for the first time Saturday and we won't be back. It isn't the food, since that was good (especially considering that the prices are low compared to other area restaurants). No, the reason I won't go anymore is the service. For starters, after being seated at the outside patio, the waitress comes to the table and says, "Do you want something to drink?" No greeting, nothing. When we tell her that we'll need a second to look at the drink menu and wine list she says... nothing. She just walks away. When she comes back she asks, "Ready?". We give our drink order and she just stands there looking at us. After realizing that she's waiting for us to give our dinner order I tell her that we're going to need some time to think about what we want and ask if there are any specials. Her answer? A single, "No". And again, she departs without another word. The rest of the evening was much of the same. Non-attentive service with a pouty expression and a piss-poor attitude. If I leave a restaurant with the distinct feeling that I have somehow inconvenienced the server (my dinner date felt the same way), then something is clearly wrong. Judging by the amount of empty tables on a Saturday night I'd say that I'm not the only person to notice. read more

Another great food experience. My wife had the scallops and I had the chicken sorrentino. Both were excellent. We ordered a nice bottle of wine. My only issue here is you need to get rid of the bubble glasses for red wine and serve real bordeaux style glasses, at least for the higher end wines. Considering you are a wine spectator award winning wine list, you need to take that extra step. BTW, we were not rushed at all even though it was crazy busy.
