The pistachio croissant is good as well but a little too sweet for my liking. The best part about Tattes is that there's usually ample seating to chat with friends or get some work done. They also do open later than other bakeries around making it a great place to hang out at.

It's a southern bakery run by Rick Ryan, who started the company as an homage to his grandmothers who baked for him back in Oklahoma. He started the small business to keep the memories of his grandmothers' desserts alive; they were the ones, after all, that inspired him to enter the world of culinary arts. And thank fucking god they did... Because one time, I was at a party in Cambridge and won a raffle for twenty dollars at Doris & Dixie. Not knowing anything about the company, I emailed Rick to place an order, asking for a dozen cake balls and a dozen cookies. Seriously, what's better than sweet little balls of gourmet, unique cakes?? Low and behold, the man DRIVES TO MY APARTMENT to deliver the order (he's amazing...) presenting two dozen home-made cake balls and 14 cookies! Yum. Not only was the packaging adorable (he put the cake balls in an egg container, labeled with paper that says, "Here's your pickin's...") but each dessert blew my fucking mind. Rick made cake balls of Chipotle Chocolate, Chocolate Clove Rum, Strawberry Lemon Basil, Hibiscus, Red Velvet, Pomegranate, Bourbon, Carrot, Chocolate Mint, Lavender, Chocolate Basil, and Humingbird------ALL by hand and all from scratch.
