Starving after browsing the Cambridge Antique Market, I found this bakery online and decided to try it. It was indeed excellent! Roasted Tomato Brioche: The cheesy flavors of the cheese were more pronounced than the tomato, and as shown in the picture, it had a slightly runny center. The chili flakes were minimal. Fruit Brioche: The fruit changes seasonally; I had blood orange. The sauce gushed out as soon as you cut into it, primarily showcasing the orange's aroma and sweetness. It wasn't sour, but also not too sweet, pairing perfectly with the brioche. Many breads are only available on weekends, so it's advisable to inquire in advance to avoid disappointment. read more

Excellent menu. Pastries to the side of the counter looked amazing but I went for protein. The food is fresh, clean, crisp, and light. The tacos had tons of flavor. They included cherry tomatoes which I can't have and weren't on the menu so I had to dig them out but no biggie. Coffee was tasty but I ordered it extra hot and it was barely hot. Every time we come here, our expectations are exceeded. It's a cafe with an assortment of baked goods that changes regularly. My personal test is simple: if a cafe's black coffee is good, then everything else usually is too--and Cafe Beatrice passed the test. Once you move into their lattes, you're in for a treat. The last one I had was a matcha brewed with apple cider and sweetened with a chai syrup. It was a soft, fall-time win. If you're here, I'd say go all out and order one of their specialty lattes. The baked goods are generally puff pastry or croissant-based, either filled or topped with fruit, jam, or sweetened cheese. My favorite was probably a raspberry pastry (though the photo I posted was on Yelp over a year ago, my first visit here). I haven't tried their food yet, but from what I've seen, it looks good. I ordered lunch here via a catering service during the work week. Because of this I can't speak on the ambiance or staff so this review is solely based on the one item I ordered which was a Greek salad. The salad was good especially the chicken. However there wasn't much substance to it and so I was hungry after my meal. I would've appreciated a bean inside the salad or bread to go along with it. Nice coffee shop with unique pastries and food. I tried the Maple kouign amann, autumn puff with pumpkin cheesecake, and the toffee chocolate chip cookie. I didn't enjoy the maple kouign or autumn puff much, even though they look really interesting. The toffee chocolate chip cookie was delicious and I highly recommend! It has enormous chocolate chunks in it. For drinks I had a normal latte as well as a gingerbread spice latte. Both were solid and no complaints there. The gingerbread one also wasn't overly saturated with sugar. The daily specials menu hints at a really diverse food menu and I'm excited to try out the burgers, quesadillas, and sandwiches! Nice relaxing place to enjoy a drink and pastry. I came on a Wednesday morning and while there were people scattered here and there, I was easily able to find a seat. There were people working on their laptops as well as those just there to enjoy a morning drink. There's more seating off to the side, as well as individual bathroom stalls. I got an iced chai and their monkey bread. The chai could have had more flavor and the bread was a little tough. I recommend this place to everyone I know, and they all end up loving it too. The staff is always friendly, the food is consistently great, and the service is usually solid, though it can get a bit slow during the lunch rush. When that happens, I just order online. Located in Cambridge Crossing, their outdoor seating is gorgeous in warmer weather, but the inside is cozy and inviting as well--perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. I also love checking out their seasonal drinks. I recently tried the Caramel Butter Apple Latte, and even though I wasn't sure about it at first, it turned out to be delicious! Tasty pastries at a solid price point! So glad we stopped by before heading out of Boston! --toffee chocolate chip: generous chunks of chocolate with good toffee flavors. It was nicely crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. --earl grey cookie: loved the strong earl grey tea flavors and the additional sugar crystals that really resemble the tea and gave it a different type of crunch! Despite the sugar crystals it wasn't overly sweet for a cookie. --kouign amann: Crispy, flaky, buttery with a slightly sweet exterior from the maple sugar. Didn't have much flavor on the inside but overall pretty good. --pistachio cheesecake: the cheesecake is encased in the middle, around flaky and airy pastry with chocolate ganache on top. The chocolate had some orange citrus notes that went well together, but taken with the cheesecake and the pastry, it felt like too much was going on. Did like the textural contrast between the pastry, cake, and runny ganache nevertheless. Staff were smiley and polite. Good amount of seating options inside with lots of natural lighting. Such a cute café near the Lechmere T stop! The decor is clean and new and the vibe is calm and relaxed, with plenty of natural light coming through the full-wall windows and soft music playing in the background. I love their breakfast tacos (I ordered without cheese): fresh and flavorful cherry tomatoes, avocado, green chili sauce, and fried egg on soft shell tortillas. So fresh and savory. Sadly, I was looking forward to trying their weekend-only breakfast burrito, but was informed that it cannot be made dairy-free since it is premade. I panic-ordered their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich instead (subbed tomato for the cheese), but would probably get one of the options with more ingredients next time, as those seem more flavorful and worth the price. Love the pastries here especially the cinnamon roll. They use a laminated dough for a lot of their pastry items so think a croissant with cinnamon butter and a maple frosting - sooo amazing. Also really like the cookies, they are massive and the perfect texture. Cute cafe/bakery in Cambridge Crossing. If I lived nearby, I'd come here all the time. I wanted to order one of everything off their menu. Settled on the Kouig Aman, which had beautiful layers of soft flaky dough encased in an outer crispy layer dusted with sugar and cinnamon. Not the easiest thing to eat gracefully or without getting crumbs all over your lap but well worth it. On a second visit, we got the maple caramel bun. It was so sweet, it hurt my teeth. Do not get unless you really like caramel. For savory options, I also got a chicken Caesar salad wrap, with generous chunks of grilled chicken inside, but when the woman behind the counter fished it out of a mini-fridge nearby, I kinda wished I had gotten something warm/made to order. The wrap was ice cold and maybe not the best thing to eat on a frigid day. My husband's Cobb salad with the grilled chicken looked good - the portion was generous for the price ($14 for a salad with so much protein, and $4 for the extra chicken). The only downside is there isn't a ton of seating, so if you come during the weekend brunch prime rush, be prepared to loiter for a while for seats to open up. read more

We loved Cafe Beatrice! This little gem was just what my hubs and I needed after running around the city all day like the tourons we were. We were looking for something casual and close by, and were hoping for a tasty meal as well. CB checked all of the boxes. We each had their Cubano, and although it's a little different than the traditional sandwich we're used to, their interpretation was delicious. On our way out we ordered a slice of peanut butter pie, which was amazing. I ate half it in bed back at our hotel and finished it off the next morning for breakfast. Come here almost every Saturday morning. I don't want to gate keep so I highly, HIGHLY recommend their breakfast burrito (only offered Saturday/Sunday). It comes with I believe home fries, refried beans, cheese, fluffy eggs, and your choice of sausage or veggie. (10 or 12$) For an additional cost you can add their homemade green chili verde sauce and/or sour cream (1$) I'm a California native and so I know my breakfast burritos. This burrito is sooooo flavorful especially when you add the green chili sauce and cholula sauce that they offer at their counter. It is stuffed and a great value, one burrito can easily feed myself and my 200lb husband, haha!! They also grill the outside well which adds to the texture. I have had this burrito 3x now and it is as delicious as the first time I've had it. I hope they never take it off their menu. I come back to Cafe Beatrice bc they have delicious beautiful pastries and coffees, but this breakfast burrito has me as a return/repeat customer!! read more

I feared it might be one of those too-cute-too-believe places where it's more about the Instagramability than the flavor (I'm looking at you, Coco Rico in the Seaport), but the items here were impressively legit. Chocolate Croissant: A little too much gilding of the lily with chocolate topping more dominant than the chocolate inside, and the addition of little balls on top as well, but underneath lies a very respectable, traditional croissant. Flaky, buttery, airy, fluffy in spots and crackly too. Not gonna crack my Boston too 5, but solid and unique. Monkey Bread: Fresh, fluffy, sweet glazy, and tender. Moist, not dry. A winner. Coffee Cruller: The round kind, very shiny, glazy, and still warm when served. Very light but also custardy of dough, bringing intense moistness even aside from the flavorful glaze. Chocolate Pistachio Sandwich cookie: Very brownie-like, and the cookies would have shined even if not a sandwich and even if there weren't also a delightfully gooey caramelly filling to serve as the glue for the nuts. My friends and I came to Cafe Beatrice for brunch on a Sunday morning. We ordered at the counter and our food was ready fairly quickly. The place was pretty busy, but we were able to find a seat. I really liked how the Geppetto section was also open for seating. The vibes were warm and welcoming, and it felt like a place where you could hang out for a few hours. The menu here isn't too big, but there are still a bunch of good options. In terms of food, we tried some sandwiches and pastries. The sandwiches were solid, but the pastries really stole the show. I ordered the Roast Beef, which had crispy onions and a horseradish aioli. My friends really enjoyed their Stuffed Turkey and Miso-Roasted Broccoli Melt sandwiches as well. It was good but my favorite was the Maple Kouign Amann. In fact, this was my first one....sooo good It reminds me of a crossiamt but better! I literally devoured it! They have a beautiful display of pastries, and not the usual boring cafe options. The Maple Kouign Amann was a real winner for me. We were in the area to shop at REI and saw this place had such solid reviews, so we HAD to stop by. There's plenty of parking, and it's a cool little up-and-coming spot. The space is deceivingly big, and there's a large patio to sit outside in the warmer weather. The line can get a little chaotic but it moves quickly and the staff were all so friendly and patient. Caesar supreme - their take on a kale caesar, not the best I've ever had but the dressing was tasty and the croutons were all you could ever want. In hindsight, adding chicken would've been the move Maple Kouign Amann - I was between this and the hazelnut sticky bun, and the woman taking my order recommended this one. WOW!! She was not wrong. This is a must try if you stop by. The outside shatters when you bite or tear into it, and the inside is buttery and soft. The maple is subtle but just enough. I would come back solely for this pastry. It's not the best cafe I've been to, but it's a very solid choice and worth coming back to try other things. Maybe just a notch below Flour or Tatte. On the slower side, even when it came to receiving our drinks and food, but doesn't bother me! We ordered a bagel sandwich with bacon, cheddar, egg on an everything bagel. The breakfast burrito with the option of a green chile sauce and/or sour cream. Paired with a mocha and an iced chai latte. The food was EXCELLENT and the portions were large. However, our drinks were mid. It all totaled for $37 which seemed absurd, but for the size of food, it felt reasonable. They were out of the seasonal latte offering so I went with an iced dirty chai latte which had the right amount of spice and everything nice. They had a wide array of bakery offerings from sandwiches to amazing pastries. I was a bit boring and went for the cinnamon roll which had a buttery flakey construction. This gave them a nice crisp to their texture and was extremely tasty. Fair warning, it'll make a flakey mess . Prices of the coffee were fair (approx. $4.50 grande). I was blown away by the pastries I had here. They're easily some of the best I've had in Boston. I had a blueberry cheesecake Danish, which had layers and layers of perfectly laminated pastry and just the right amount of fruity, cream cheesy filling. I also brought home one of their giant chocolate chip cookies and a maple kouign amann for my husband, and both were similarly perfect in every way. They're definitely in contention for best chocolate chip cookie in Boston with their crispy edges, chewy insides, and high-quality chocolate discs that melt into perfect sheets of chocolate layered inside the cookie.
