I'm still giving 5 stars because the taste of the cake is most important to me, but just FYI be careful with the cake if you order one and it's for an event where aesthetics are very important. We have had 2 occasions where the (absolutely delicious) pandan coconut cake got a little dented or melted/partly destroyed. The first time we kind of just overlooked it because maybe it was bumped during the car ride or something, but the second time the layers of the cake were actually collapsing and it seemed like the top might slide off, and there were no real bumps during the car ride. The one time we ordered the ube cake this didn't happen, and I think I recall it came with a stiff plastic sheet around it to help with structural integrity. For some reason this wasn't there for the pandan cakes, but maybe for the future it should always be there because these cakes are so soft and fluffy. read more

Tiny but charming bakery very close to Bow Market! Stumbled upon here and was surprised by how many people were in line given the size of the bakery. However, after seeing the menu, I'm not surprised why it was so busy. The staff is really friendly and patient, especially as many people would change their orders when they got to the front to order. On a busy day, it can be difficult to see the menu on the wall, and all other menus were near the cashier so made sense that orders were changing. I tried the toffee nut coffee and loved the subtle toffee flavor that added a hint of sweetness without being overpowering. There are many other coffee flavors that I cant wait to come back and try. While I didnt try any pastries this time, there were so many to choose from, and they all looked good. For me, Id likely be more inclined to get one of their many treats if a table is available, which can be tight give the size. Exquisite as expected. We stopped here for celebratory dessert and wanted to try something we hadn't eaten before so we got the coconut pandan cake and the hot ube latte. This place is on a street with a bunch of shops and they have 15 minute parking specifically to help these businesses. We got lucky and got one of those 15 minute spots, love that parking set up! The prices were more than I expected, so I only got six items, but after bringing them home and trying them all? I have serious regrets not getting more. My partner loves strawberry shortcake and says this is as good as it gets. It is so light and fluff, the strawberry is the star of the show, the cream and sponge are still soft and delicate and sweet, the perfect backup to the strawberries. Also huge shout out to the cashier who packaged the cakes. She put so much care into packaging them prettily. We watched her fold the box together, it had a cute cat sticker to close it, and she taped the pastry base down so it didn't slide in the box. We also got the little mushroom hand pie and chicken curry hand pie. Not sure if they're called hand pies? I'm so sorry I didn't get a photo of those, but they were so adorable. Tried Maprang Bakery & Cafe for the first time today and already wish it was closer to home! I ordered a matcha latte and a strawberry thai iced tea, both were great. The matcha latte was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or bitter, and the strawberry thai tea had a stronger strawberry flavor than thai tea, but it was refreshing and enjoyable. I also picked up three cakes: the thai tea and coffee cakes for a friend, and the strawberry matcha cake for myself and my boyfriend. My friend said the Thai tea cake was "so good", definitely a hit. We had the strawberry matcha cake a couple hours later and it was still delicious. The cake was moist, the matcha flavor wasn't overpowering, and the strawberries tasted super fresh. There's a big variety of drinks on the menu, so I definitely want to come back and try more. Everyone was also very friendly, which made the experience even better. This is a cute little place, tucked into Somerville Massachusetts, right outside of the busier parts of Boston. There are some street parking and a little plaza with a few metered parking as well that you can pay for. This little shop has a few seats inside, not super big, but smells wonderful. They have some pastries, cakes, and select beverages at your disposal. I wish I could have tried more, but I just had lunch and I only grabbed the carrot cake, and it was delicious. I'm not super big on raisins, but there's a few recipes that make me not mind them at all and this is one of them. Perfect amount of sweetness isn't overwhelming and has a good flavor. I did see some people order drinks and desserts as well and the plates they put on is super cute. The workers here were nice and efficient, and I was in and out. I honestly didn't have the biggest appetite when I walked in, but I was so glad to have had just enough room for the Thai Tea Cake. Maprang nailed down the flavor of one of my favorite drinks into light, fluffy cake-form. This is just the right size for an after-dinner dessert or a snack. Such a lovely little bakery in Union Square! It's a family-owned business serving delish asian flavors. Not only are all their pastries nicely decorated, but they taste just as good as they look. Their Viet Coffee is fantastic. Their almond croissant was also deliciously flaky and their coconut chiffon cake was fluffy and packed with real coconut pieces. Their pricing is a bit expensive, but considering how you're supporting a small business that clearly puts quality into their products, that isn't a problem. I ordered alot from here because I wanted to try everything! Lol. My favorite was the coconut chiffon it was very light and fluffy. I liked the thai tea and tiramisu cream, but the cakes were very dry. If it was more moist it would have been perfect!! This place is officially one of my favorite cafes!! I came on a Sunday and it was packed- it's a pretty small space so don't be surprised if you can't grab a table during peak hours. The workers are SUPER friendly and don't make you feel rushed even if there's a long line. I got the thai iced tea, which had a strong tea flavor and wasn't too sweet; exactly what I wanted.
