Searching for something sweet, I found this Asian bakery, cafe, which had a wide selection of mostly sweets as well as various coffee and tea-based beverages. Since I was getting a cake, I figured a straight matcha with oat milk (rather than one of the fancy flavored ones) would be the right move. It lasted me a while and delivered a straightforward green flavor, while my fancy-looking Thai tea cake was indulgent and moist. The place pretty much delivered everything I asked for. They did have some dedicated parking behind the shop, and it was a neighborhood with weird angles and parking rules, so that might be worth seeking out.
Stopped in for a sweet treat after a long day and oh it hit the spot! I love the Pandan coconut cake: bite sized, single serving, light, creamy and not too sweet. Second favorite is the ube cake: tastes like authentic ube flavor, thick and creamy. The ube latte I would probably not order again as it is way too sweet for me. They have a variety of non caffeinated drinks and sandwiches. The black sesame croissant looked tasty so I will probably order it next time. Street parking is limited. I found a spot but only for 15min so I would come early to find parking.
Use drink was super super super delicious. I dont really know what I got but I loved it, the staff had excellent recommendations. I really wish I was hungry, too, because the food and pastries inside the shop looked incredible. The ambience is bright and fresh, with some seating! I would definitely be back.
Exquisite as expected. We stopped here for celebratory dessert and wanted to try something we hadn't eaten before so we got the coconut pandan cake and the hot ube latte. The cake was delicious and had not only whipped cream but also a custard-y layer to it. The ube latte was yummy too, hit the spot on a cold windy day. I know it says latte but it doesn't have any coffee in it FYI. Ambiance is a very pleasant vibe, we sat in a sunny corner enjoying it drinks and dessert for an hour or so. Highly recommend!
So friendly and easy to work with! We ordered 2 basque cheesecakes and they were beautiful and delicious, rich, creamy, and not overly sweet. They have a great selection of pastries, will definitely be back!
Maprang has been a great addition to Union Sq. I always get excited to get their Ube latte, ube basque cheesecake and a classic - the chocolate chip cookie. It's a small cafe with a few table and chairs but also a standing wall table. The staff is always friendly when I visit.
Cute Thai owned bakery! I got the: -pandan tea: super refreshing and the pandan flavor is definitely there! I loved this. -ube cake: not too sweet = best compliment! It was delicious, cake was fluffy and super cute -pandan cake: again, love how the pandan flavor is there! Doesn't taste like the artificial stuff. Service was fast and it's cute inside

Such an amazing cafe! I got the Thai tea cake, carrot cake, Oreo ball, and strawberry Thai tea latte with oat milk. I absolutely loved that they had a little picture menu of all the fun drinks/flavor combos you could order. I've never had a Thai tea latte before and this one was so good. The cakes were so tasty as well. I loved the fall theme here. Will have to go back when there's a geometric pumpkin cake available (they recommend calling ahead to confirm it's there)
This place is on a street with a bunch of shops and they have 15 minute parking specifically to help these businesses. We got lucky and got one of those 15 minute spots, love that parking set up! The prices were more than I expected, so I only got six items, but after bringing them home and trying them all? I have serious regrets not getting more. My partner loves strawberry shortcake and says this is as good as it gets. It is so light and fluff, the strawberry is the star of the show, the cream and sponge are still soft and delicate and sweet, the perfect backup to the strawberries. Also huge shout out to the cashier who packaged the cakes. She put so much care into packaging them prettily. We watched her fold the box together, it had a cute cat sticker to close it, and she taped the pastry base down so it didn't slide in the box. We also got the little mushroom hand pie and chicken curry hand pie. Not sure if they're called hand pies? I'm so sorry I didn't get a photo of those, but they were so adorable. Perfectly laminated dough and the crimping on all the edges, fillings were sweet, and I could eat one of those for breakfast for the rest of my life and be content.
Tried Maprang Bakery & Cafe for the first time today and already wish it was closer to home! I ordered a matcha latte and a strawberry thai iced tea, both were great. The matcha latte was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or bitter, and the strawberry thai tea had a stronger strawberry flavor than thai tea, but it was refreshing and enjoyable. I also picked up three cakes: the thai tea and coffee cakes for a friend, and the strawberry matcha cake for myself and my boyfriend. My friend said the Thai tea cake was "so good", definitely a hit. We had the strawberry matcha cake a couple hours later and it was still delicious. The cake was moist, the matcha flavor wasn't overpowering, and the strawberries tasted super fresh. There's a big variety of drinks on the menu, so I definitely want to come back and try more. Everyone was also very friendly, which made the experience even better. If only they were closer to home, I'd be a regular!
This is my second time ordering from this Southeast Asian dessert shop! Coconut Pandan Cake: I'm not a big fan of pandan, but this one had a very gentle and soothing aroma. The cake itself is light and delicate, the cream is smooth and not too sweet, and the coconut sauce on top is like glutinous rice, with a sticky texture and a satisfying sweetness. Tiramisu: Although not Southeast Asian, it's equally excellent! The coffee infused the cake, and the cream was smooth and creamy. Personally, I think it would be even better if it were a little more bitter. read more
I'm still giving 5 stars because the taste of the cake is most important to me, but just FYI be careful with the cake if you order one and it's for an event where aesthetics are very important. We have had 2 occasions where the (absolutely delicious) pandan coconut cake got a little dented or melted/partly destroyed. The first time we kind of just overlooked it because maybe it was bumped during the car ride or something, but the second time the layers of the cake were actually collapsing and it seemed like the top might slide off, and there were no real bumps during the car ride. The one time we ordered the ube cake this didn't happen, and I think I recall it came with a stiff plastic sheet around it to help with structural integrity. For some reason this wasn't there for the pandan cakes, but maybe for the future it should always be there because these cakes are so soft and fluffy. read more

The food is excellent. The drinks are delicious. The service is prompt. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. The space is clean and comfortable and always feels soft and safe. I love this cafe and always visit when I'm in town. Thank you guys for being here. I wish I could visit more regularly. read more

My friend was raving about the cakes so I was so excited to try. I love how it has unique Asian inspired flavors, which aren't as commonly seen in bakeries. The options were amazing and they had a lot of drink options too. I wanted to try the mango shortcake but sadly they were sold out since it was the afternoon. Order the Thai Tea Cake for your next birthday gathering. Both the cake and the frosting tastes like Thai Iced Tea. Very unique and tasty. My friends and I have also tried the Ube cake but all agree the Thai Tea Cake is better. The Ube cake frosting lacks Ube flavor. Note: Watch your step exiting the bakery - there is a pretty steep step. I almost completely dropped my cake that I was picking up. read more
Super cute cafe with solid cake options! I tried their coconut pandan cake and it was moist and flavorful. The egg yolk strands on top were a great touch. Not photographed is the strawberry matcha latte I also got from them. It could do with a bit more matcha but I'm not mad at it. Will definitely be back to try other cake options! read more
Maprang Bakery and Cafe is a must try if you are looking for desserts in the Somerville area! They have a ton of breakfast pastries and mini cakes available. There were so many flavors but I decided to try the coconut pandan cake, which was so fluffy and delicious! They also have coffee available and I was pleasantly surprised by how great the toffee nut latte was. It's a pretty small space but they do have some seating. The staff was super friendly and nice to everyone - definitely check out and support this awesome spot! read more

I LOVED my experience at this cafe. Vibe: Small counter service cafe with a few small tables and bar. Food: I got a banoffee which was SO YUMMY Drinks: I got a peppermint mocha latte which was tasty and also served in an adorable mug. Service: Shout out to the staff at Maprang because they are absolutely LOVELY. I love being in a place where the people love what they do and this was apparent in how helpful and nice they were. Value: Prices on point for quality. HIGHLY recommend and would absolutely return. read more

This is the kind of place where it's hard to make a wrong choice. If it looks good, chances are it will taste fresh and as good as you could imagine! Food: I've visited a couple time now and I think I've ordered something different each time. Sometimes at stores you find one or two items you like and don't sway, but Maprang makes me want to try everyone on the menu. Each drink has been very distinct but they all make for a great start to your day! The pastries and cakes also make for great accompaniments without tipping the scales toward overloading on sugar. Atmosphere: As I mentioned earlier, Maprang makes me want to try new things each time and I think it's partly due to the fresh and energetic atmosphere. Service: The staff are always so pleasant and excited to have you try new menu items or classic pastries they're proud of. read more

This is a cute little place, tucked into Somerville Massachusetts, right outside of the busier parts of Boston. There are some street parking and a little plaza with a few metered parking as well that you can pay for. This little shop has a few seats inside, not super big, but smells wonderful. They have some pastries, cakes, and select beverages at your disposal. I wish I could have tried more, but I just had lunch and I only grabbed the carrot cake, and it was delicious. I'm not super big on raisins, but there's a few recipes that make me not mind them at all and this is one of them. Perfect amount of sweetness isn't overwhelming and has a good flavor. I did see some people order drinks and desserts as well and the plates they put on is super cute. The workers here were nice and efficient, and I was in and out. I'd recommend this to anyone with a sweet tooth, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more
I honestly didn't have the biggest appetite when I walked in, but I was so glad to have had just enough room for the Thai Tea Cake. Maprang nailed down the flavor of one of my favorite drinks into light, fluffy cake-form. This is just the right size for an after-dinner dessert or a snack. The staff was so sweet helping us and the cafe is very clean, bright, and pleasant to sit in. It also has so much more than its mini cake and dessert selection in the store. Passed by Maprang, a newer bakery known for its Asian flavored desserts located in Union Square. Cute small cafe with some seating, sweets, drinks and some savory options as well. I ordered the coconut Pandan cake and mushroom puff. The puff had a bit too flaky pastry for my preference, and the mushroom filling was lightly flavored. The pastry was a bit sweet. The coconut Pandan cake was light and not overly sweet, offered some varied textures (fluffy cake, light whipped cream, soft/slightly chewy coconut layer). I would order the cake again, and look forward to trying some other things on their menu. The staff were very friendly as well, and the place offered a nice welcoming environment. read more

This bakery and cafe is very cute and has unique Asian flavors. The workers were very friendly and welcoming. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey, almost similar to boba places without boba....I enjoyed the ube latte but thought the matcha latte was lacking in flavor. Small quaint bakery that makes quality pastries, sandwiches, and drinks. Parking is a little hard to find if you go during peak hours, but if you're local and/or taking the T, it's a perfect place to have the small café vibe while sipping on a warm coffee-based drink. There's a karate class nearby so it does sometimes get busy after class ends. read more
Such a lovely little bakery in Union Square! It's a family-owned business serving delish asian flavors. Not only are all their pastries nicely decorated, but they taste just as good as they look. Their Viet Coffee is fantastic. Their almond croissant was also deliciously flaky and their coconut chiffon cake was fluffy and packed with real coconut pieces. Their pricing is a bit expensive, but considering how you're supporting a small business that clearly puts quality into their products, that isn't a problem. The lady behind the counter was also so sweet! She made sure everything was to our liking and made small conversation with us. Only thing I wish they had was wifi, otherwise they have a great thing going for them. read more
Maprang Bakery is a small and cozy bakery. They offer complimentary water, napkins, and also a public bathroom. The mini cakes are around $8.50 each which is a bit pricey, but it is worth it. The cakes were super moist and flavorful. I personally recommend the ube cake over the Thai tea, since the ube flavor is richer and more yummy. The cashier was very polite and made the experience even better. I'd definitely come back! read more

We came in on a holiday to find the limited seats almost full but we were taking it out anyways. We just tried their Watermelon juice w/ boba (seasonal) and found it super refreshing since they used real fresh watermelon! The only thing that could have made it better is if the boba was a bit more on the soft side. The cafe itself is well lit and super comfy and cozy as with most boba shops. Would come again! read more
