Since we were in Cambridge today and my sister-in-law wanted to try a cannoli, we opted to go to Mike's Pastry (this is an offshoot of the original in North End Boston). Very friendly staff, easy to read menu largely on one wall, not crowded and easy to order. Clean and bright inside with about 4 counter seats by the window. We ordered one each of espresso, lemon, and pistachio cannolis, walked around the corner and sat in a cool alley with a bench to enjoy them. The cream is very rich, sweet (2/3 would be enough! Very generous). The pastry is crispy and breaks easily when you bite into it (the paper is helpful to hold it together). Glad we came!
I hate writing this review with 1 star because I used to love Mikes!!! We got the Dubai chocolate cannoli and a slice of mousse cake. The cannoli was quite literally inedible. It tasted like pure cardboard with the texture of paper mache. I honestly was so disappointed with it. My partner got the mousse cake which was sour and bitter. I'm not sure what happened but we used to always love whatever we got from here. Super unfortunate.
Visiting Mike's Pastry in Harvard Square is the perfect way to get their pastries (that taste as good as the original) without the insane lines. The staff here are always so friendly and efficient. While their cannolis are rather expensive ($7-$10 for 1) it does make your day 200% better when you get one of their sweet treats. Their Chocolate Chip Cannolis and Amaretto Cannolis are my favorites! Their cannoli cream is always fresh & smooth while their shells are perfectly crispy. The variety of flavors is amazing. What's not to like?
Mint chocolate cannoli. All I have to say. This location was a lot quieter than the one in little Italy which was nice! Open late, fast service! Crispy on the outside , creamy on the inside. So many flavor options!
Really awesome selection of deserts. I don't think there's anything there that didn't look good. Service was great. Ambiance was very casual and more of a to-go spot.
Mike's is one of the representative chain pastries in the Boston area. However, its overwhelming sweetness was totally a disaster to my Chinese/ Cantonese appetite. Pistachio Cannoli: One of the signature products. To be frank, this cannoli was well baked, with incredibly crunchy dough shell which easily fell apart under a bite, and brimming thick ricotta cheese with a slight hint of lemon or orange zest's citrusy tanginess and fragrance. However, the cheese was ridiculously cloyingly sickly SWEET I had never tasted before, so that I could only persist to half of one. Maybe it suits American taste buds more. Tiramisu: I saw recommendations on the China's food reviewing platform Dazhong Dianping大众点评, but this piece of cake had actually nothing to do with the authentic Italian Tiramisu. As was shown in cannoli, EVERYTHING inside was sweetened, while I couldn't taste any hint of cocoa's bitterness or Rum's fragrance. As a dessert lover, I fell into deep depression and confusion. The only ingredient slightly better was the caramel cream on top, providing more layers of flavor.
Cupcake was yummy, Boston Creme Pie was not good to me, Chocolate Chip Cannoli was a game changer. Absolutely amazing, no complaints. The inside wasn't busy, lots of options to choose from and an entire wall of cannoli options to select from. Will return!
This is primarily a bakery for take-out. I had heard that the bakery is known for its cannoli. There were cakes and cookies displayed but no cannolis. After we placed the order for the cannoli, the cannoli shell is filled in the kitchen and then packed. They are just enormous, so be prepared. We got the amaretto and a pistachio cannoli. We liked the amaretto cannoli more and usually my preference would be pistachio. My personal preference is for a regular size cannoli. The two cannoli came to $15! So pretty pricey imo.
Incredible cannoli place! They have a wide variety of filling options to choose from, as well as pastry shells in vanilla and chocolate covered. I ordered the Nutella cannoli and it was delicious! First of all, they make giant cannolis that are very filling so you only need to order one. The pastry shell is baked crispy but doesn't messily crumble when you take a bite, plus has a ton of flavor. Then the filling is delicious, stealing the show with a creamy and sugary taste that fills your sweet tooth. I didn't think the Nutella cream tasted overly like Nutella, more like chocolate cream cheese with a hint of hazelnut, but was still delicious. They even add powder sugar sprinkled on top. Definitely a go-to stop in Boston!
As my first time to Boston, stopping at Mike's pastry was a have to. The line went pretty quickly, and the employees were very fast and efficient at getting everyone their order. They had a large selection with many different flavor, choices and combinations. I have to say my expectations were quite high, but I wasn't as impressed as I was expecting to be. For me, it was too much filling and too sweet. But my friends absolutely loved theirs so maybe a different flavor for me would be the trick. Overall, I would still go back again and it's absolutely worth a stop! Parking would have definitely been difficult however I walked from my hotel so it wasn't too difficult for me. Parking in Boston is just difficult in general so that's to be expected. But even if you try to park it's still worth it.
Came in here very last minute. They were packing up, so glad I got to grab a cannoli. You can tell it was fresh. Great to grab and pickup, not really a place I'd sit in though.
I'd never been to this location before. I've only been to the one in the North End previously. Service was fast and lovely. There was only one other customer in the entire store. We got lobster tail, fudge brownie, a tiramisu slice, and strawberry cheesecake. The lobster tail were not as crisp as I might have hoped but the tiramisu and the strawberry cheesecake were absolutely on point. Parking was also ridiculously easy. We got a spot right across the street and we were in and out in less than 15 minutes. We will definitely be returning to this location
This was my first time trying a cannoli, and maybe I just picked the wrong flavor, but I didn't enjoy it at all. I always see a line at Mike's Pastry, so when I finally caught it empty, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was way too sweet for me and nothing about it really stood out. I'd pick Beard Papa's over this any day.

I hadn't had a cannoli in a while, so I was excited to try the ones at Mike's Pastry in Harvard Square and they definitely did not disappoint in terms of size! These cannolis are enormous, practically a pound each. They're definitely on the pricey side, but you get a huge cannoli, and honestly, one is more than enough to fill you up. Even two people could easily share one. We also tried the Oreo cheesecake and one of their cakes. Both were good, but I personally enjoyed the cannoli much more than the cake. Next time, I think I'll skip the other desserts and stick with the cannoli. That's definitely what I'd come back for! read more
Mike's Pastry is the place that is on every single must visit in Boston list. So, when we walked by one near Harvard Square, we had to stop by. This one didn't have a long line that I knew their North End location would certainly be marked by. On our first visit, we tried a plain cannoli to have a baseline of what to expect. We also tried a pistachio macaron. On the second visit, we tried a red velvet whoopie pie and a pistachio cannoli. The cannoli's are fire. The shell is thick, crispy and they hold up. They're stuffed with sweet creamy ricotta. It's a perfect pairing of soft cream and a hard shell. This location had a few bar seats available at the window and against the wall. There's a huge window of sweet treats on display. I definitely recommend visiting, try a cannoli and get something to go. They have everything from lobster tails to Boston cream pie. I think it would take someone with a lot of will power to come here and walk out without getting something. read more

Mike's Pastry in Cambridge brings the famous North End bakery experience to Harvard Square, making it easy to enjoy their iconic pastries without heading into downtown Boston. Located on Dunster Street, the shop is designed for efficiency, with a straightforward layout that keeps the line moving even during busy hours. There are a few counter seats inside, but it's primarily a grab-and-go destination where most people leave carrying one of the bakery's signature string-tied pastry boxes. The cannolis are the main reason to visit, and they certainly live up to their reputation in terms of size. The classic chocolate chip cannoli is generously filled from end to end with a rich, sweet ricotta cream, while the crisp shell provides just the right amount of crunch. If you're looking for something a little different, the Florentine cannoli is an excellent choice. Its honey-nut shell adds an extra layer of texture and a subtle caramelized flavor that pairs beautifully with the creamy filling. Beyond the cannolis, the bakery offers an impressive selection of Italian pastries, cookies, cakes, and other desserts. The lobster tails are another popular option, with flaky layers surrounding a rich cream filling, and the display cases are filled with enough variety to make it difficult to choose just one item. Prices are a bit higher than your average neighborhood bakery, but the portions are generous enough that many pastries can easily be shared. Service is quick and efficient, with staff focused on keeping the line moving throughout the day. Since seating is limited, it's worth taking your pastries to nearby Harvard Yard or the Charles River, where you can enjoy them at a more relaxed pace. Mike's Pastry may be best known for its North End flagship, but the Cambridge location delivers the same oversized cannolis and classic Italian desserts in a much more convenient setting. Whether you're craving the original chocolate chip cannoli or one of their many other pastries, it's an easy stop whenever you're spending time around Harvard Square. read more

The cannoli is SO good omg. The cream puff is on the heavier side with all of the fluffy whipped cream. But I can talk about the cannoli for ages & tell you everything I love about it! The staff were also so nice and helped make sure that the baked goods wouldn't get destroyed on the way to NYC. Thank you! read more

Anytime I'm in the city I make sure to stop by here. The best cannoli's around. A wild selection of other desserts as well. If there's a line it always moves fast. read more
Always a great cannoli. I hadn't been to the Harvard sq location and I am very pleased with it. It has a more contemporary feel than the north end location, and slightly more upscale than their north station hub location. The quality of the cannoli are fantastic and the pistachio is amazing. We split one between the two of us and really enjoyed it, they're large and filling. Service was great. There were two workers in the shop and we were the only ones in there. No seats, super fast service, place was very clean. Very enjoyable experience! read more
The pistachio cannoli was pretty good but kind of expensive. I thought the outside was crispy and the inside wasn't too sweet. I didn't like the boston cream donut as much. I thought the dough for it was a bit dry. There isn't any seating inside but there is a standing area to eat your pastry. The workers aren't that nice but they're not mean either. read more

Came here after dinner and heard a lot about Mike's Pastry being a go-to for cannoli - something I had never legitimately had before. The inside is bright, white, and inviting. Hanging above the huge display cases of cookies, pastries, and sweets are giant ball-shaped string holders in which the workers use to tie up your goodies in a neat little box. We ordered: - Chocolate chip cannoli - this was SO good. You get the option to dust powdered sugar on it and that is a must! Crispy buttery thick shell and smooth thick mascarpone cream. The chocolate chips at each end add another layer of yummy crunch. - Ricotta pie slice - we ate this the next day and it was like a lighter cheesecake. Very delicious and highly vouch for this one. Definitely recommend eating the cannoli FRESH to maintain the crispiness of the shell. read more

Heard good things about Mike's from a coworker and made it a point to swing by at some point to grab a cannoli. I didn't really have a preference for flavor so I just asked them what their most popular ones were. I ended up getting the pistachio cannoli and had the powdered sugar added on top. It met my expectations but didn't blow me away like I thought it would-- still good though and would recommend! The store was pretty empty when I arrived, there were a few people standing inside still deciding what to get. The staff was very quick and I was in and out quickly. read more
If you're a tourist of Boston, you know Mike's and Modern are on the list of must try's for cannolis. We swung by on a Thursday afternoon and picked up a pistachio and buttercream cannoli. The filling was good, not overly sweet, the shell was softer than I expected it to be, and I was stunned they charge $7 per cannoli. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. read more

We sort of stumbled upon cannoli's on our recent trip to Boston. I mean they were on hubs list of things to do while visiting but we literally stumbled onto Modern Pastry's when we came across a huge line while walking the Freedom Trail and then were delighted by the cannoli, a shell filled with utter utter amazeball goodness! Then we heard about Mike's from people we were standing in line with during a Christmas Cruise. I saw them carrying a Mike's bakery box and asked if theirs were better and sure enough the holder of the box said Mike's was the best. Apparently, there is some back and forth between who makes the best cannoli!! lol Well, I was happily intrigued, cuz, that cannoli at Modern was one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Fast forward a few days, we were on a tour of Harvard in Harvard Square and ran into Mike's Pastry and lucky for us, there was no line. It was like the universe wanted us to try their cannoli. Made fresh to order we sunk our teeth in and once again praised Boston for their delightful tasting cannoli's. Now I am not going to tell you whose I thought was better. It was a super close race. You really should try both businesses and keep them both in business but for me it came down to the taste of the shell. Somebody's shell was slightly better. Eat all the cannoli's people! read more
I had heard so many good things about Mike's Pastry and for good reason! My boyfriend and I stopped by as we were wandering Harvard Square and wanted a quick bite to eat. It was fairly empty in the early afternoon when we arrived. We got a Plain Cannoli and a Chocolate Chip Scone. The scone was honestly disappointing. I know scones are typically a bit drier than other pastries, but this was one very dry and lacked flavor. However, the cannoli was exceptional. I love cannolis and this was probably the best I've had. The filling is thick, creamy, and very ricotta-forward while the shell was crispy and crackly. I definitely want to go back to try their other cannoli flavors. read more
Delicious cannoli! This location is an offshoot from their location in the North End. However, it is less crowded than many other spots. I loved the pistachio and the chocolate flavored cannolis. They even had a pumpkin spice flavored one for the fall. Lemon was just meh.... Be careful when you come to this place if you're driving. The metro is easy to access this spot. However, you're going to have trouble parking when you come here. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC read more
