Monica was absolutely terrific! She was attentive and was excited to serve with plenty of energy. She gave me excellent advice on what to order even when they did not have the Chicken Marsala available. I would highly recommend the Chicken Piccata. It is light but filling and is packed with flavor. The kitchen was amazing as well. To be able to cook a lightly fried breast in such a short amount of time was impressive. If you struggle to eat greens, then give the broccolini a try as it was perfect. I dined at Cafe Whitney for breakfast while staying at the Whitney Peak Hotel. The ambiance is clean and upscale. Though few people were dining at the time, the staff was inattentive. No doubt, a five star meal tonight! Let's explain why they deserve five stars shall we? First of all, CHRISTINA our server was just absolutely fabulous. She had a great upsell without high pressure and gave us some great ideas on how to improve our lovely meal. I want to complement the management and the head chef on having such a lovely place to eat In Reno. As well, I complement CHRISTINA. Now let's talk about our meal. The hubby in our party was keen on not sharing his pizza. But let us warn you other hubbies, this pizza is extra large and should be shared. At 16 inches round, there's plenty of pizza for three people. Don't forget to ask for the ranch. Our double cheese pizza had plenty of cheese and we recommend double cheese, onio and basil. Don't forget it's homemade ranch. so definitely ask for a side of ranch to go with your pizza to dip the crust. Let's also talk about the wine list because we had a glass of wine called Conundrum and at nine dollars a glass, that was a great value. Another great thing about this restaurant is It wasn't too crowded. This bar is twice as long as most restaurants. Highly recommend recommended and that's the end of it. You're welcome. read more

Beautiful layout in this place! Remember when it used to be the Fitzgerald casino years ago. They did an amazing makeover for this place. Seemed more like a high end steakhouse versus a cafe? Service was awesome and sat right down upon arrival without a reservation. Ordered the tomahawk and it was amazing! Tiny bit overcooked but the chef made it up to us with some amazing garlic shrimp. Terrible service. We dropped by on a Sat morning for breakfast, mostly due to positive reviews. We made a reservation for 10:00am to avoid the normal morning wait. It didn't help. We showed up, waited for someone to help. Noticed several waitresses ignoring us. Waited and waited, asked a waitress for help, she said she would get someone. Just about the time we were ready to give up, the receptionist walks by, checks our reservation, it's now 10:15 or so, she tells us that because "we" were late, it will take them some time to clean a table for us. So ok. She finally seats us, and we are subsequently ignored. No coffee order, no hello, nothing. Wait another 10 mins and figured enough was enough, and walked out. It wasn't busy that morning, not sure how these guys get decent reviews. Never again. read more

Love that the Whitney Cafe gives a chance to break away from the noise and lights of the downtown casinos. Tried the macaroni and cheese with burnt ends, generous portion for a starter. I always love Cafe Whitney so we came in for their St. Patrick's day specials, and I think the thing that really stood out this time was the service. We chose to share the appetizer, entree, dessert, plus a salad, and they split the entree and the salad without charging us a split plate fee. Our server, Amanda, truly anticipated all of our needs in terms of refilling our drinks and quickly taking plates away. The food was all very tasty, especially the corned beef and cabbage special and the mixed green salad. Will definitely be back soon! read more

Always on the hunt for a new brunch spot and Cafe Whitney was up next on my list. I love this hotel-friendly service, dog friendly, beautiful decor-and I was very pleased by their brunch. We started with mimosas-$20 bottomless and $7 single. Jolie was our food server and she was excellent. We had the eggs Benedict served with potatoes and French toast with berries. Jolie recommended a side of lingonberry jame to accompany the French toast and it was delicious. The menu isn't a large one but they have something for all tastes. Highly recommend. read more

Just had a wonderful brunch at Cafe Whitney with my wife...delicious chilaquiles and ham omelette. We also both enjoyed the bottomless mimosas! A full carafe of bubbles is left at the table along with your choice of juice. Our server was Verenise and she was outstanding... our glasses and plates (large portions!) were never empty. Came here last weekend for breakfast and it wasn't so busy. Our waitress didn't introduce herself and already started with such unwelcoming presence. Seems like her coffee didn't kick in yet. We ordered and patiently waited. About 20mins or so, another family sat next to us and they ordered. They received their food first. Our order wasn't complicating because their food options were very limited. My family and I decided to just leave the place and take the food to-go. We weren't welcomed in the place anyways. The manager stated that KAYJA, our waitress, decided to NOT place in our order once she received it. Manager was nice enough to pack our food and apologize on KAYJA's behalf. She did NOT acknowledge her mistake and just ignored us. Maybe it was some sort of Asian-hate situation going on with her but please provide a different server if she will treat Asian people like this! read more
