Another great dinner with the family at Jj's! It was quiet on the Monday night, I assume because the weather was rainy and getting cold. We came with a big group and they were quick to take our order and made sure everything was correct. We ordered a full meal of Fries, Mozzarella sticks, wings, and 2 large pizzas. The food all came out pretty quickly, hot and fresh. We all enjoyed everything with barely any leftovers. There is also a new VIP club and if you text them you get a discount, so be sure to look for that next time you come in. I'm never disappointed with JJs and this was another success. I remember living a short distance away from JJ's when I first moved to Reno to attend UNR and at the time, I had thought JJ's was actually a pie store. I had wondered if I could get a very freshly made boysenberry pie or even gooseberry, lol. Happily for me, the pizza itself is fresh, delicious and served in an old-school, no-nonsense atmosphere. It's very enjoyable to just spend time their inside with your pizza and a cold drink, especially in summer. The staff are kind, efficient and work hard to keep the place clean and running smoothly. Even though I wasn't able to get any boysenberry pie here, you will love their pizza pies, served in a great atmosphere. Recommend them highly! read more

A Reno classic! I love coming to JJ's pizza. This place is super casual and the perfect spot for a pizza. You order at the counter and then grab a spot and watch a game while you wait for your food. I love their pizza: I love the taste of their dough and you gotta save your crust to enjoy with some honey. I always get a classic pepperoni pizza with a side of ranch. The actual restaurant smells very foul. Like it's on fire and full of grease. I've worked in the restaurant industry for many years. That smell should not be okay with the owner. Nor the way the employees present themselves. If you work in the front area of any restaurant one must dress professionally for customers. Most of the Kids were in grungy clothing. One girl had overalls on with one strap undone hanging loose and her stomach showing as if her shirt were way too short. I understand being comfortable but.... As a professional skin showing should be limited. Maybe have a uniform shirt and dark pants they should wear. And hats. Hair was all over and not tidy. Restaurant was just unpleasant. I won't return. The food was overpriced. $20+ for a 10" pizza with 4 toppings!!!!!!!!! I spent $40+ on a meal for one person. 12$ salad. Not worth the money or 10 minute walk. I'll go elsewhere. Convenience isn't always Convenient Perhaps they're so used to the foul smell that it doesn't affect their gag reflex. read more

This restaurant was close to where we were staying in Reno and got decent reviews so we decided to check it out late one evening. The building is concrete with hardly any windows. It gives the impression of a speak easy but is not. The menu is mostly pizza, fried foods and sandwiches. The pizza crust is thick and chewy, light on toppings and cheese. I prefer a thinner crust. The onion rings were lightly battered and crispy. The ranch is a little bit too watery for my liking. The chicken wings were on the small size. We ate at the bar. This is the type of place where nothing's been changed here in decades. Walk right in, and it feels like the kind of well-worn neighborhood pizzaria you'd see in any film frmo the 80's. And really, sometimes that is all you really need. Some spaces at the bar, the classic arcade games, countless vintage posters, the game on the TV, and some pizza that really hits the spot. Been sort of making J.J.'s one of my go-to's when I'm in the mood for a slice. And these are some good, and sizeable, slices, I tell you what. Nothing ultra fancy, just your choice of toppings, drinks and beer, wings if you want them, and so on. And very friendly service every time I've swung through. Still need to order a full pie from them, but just for a casual joint to grab a bite, they have certainly stood the test of time, and I hope to see them sticking around for a good long time more. read more

9/28/25 my wife and I went out to find a good pizza and we found it at J.J.'s Pie Co. we ordered a large and probably should have only ordered a small. This place certainly gives the vibe of the old fashioned pizza place's of the past. No nonsense, straight forward Boston type customer service. The pizza was very good although and from the time we ordered to the pizza on the table was about 30 min. Lots of collectable things to look an and several TV's to watch sports. Came here for a birthday gathering before a UNR game. Never heard of the place but it was pretty busy and had a nice, casual feel. Lots of old posters put up all over the walls and ceiling. Small parking lot but street parking available too. Our friends ordered pepperoni and cheese pizzas plus wings and soft drinks. The drinks are just self serve with a soda machine. Really enjoyed their pizza with their tasty cheese and sauce. It had a thin pie bottom with a very thick crust. Their wings were good with lots of extra sauce. Mozzarella Sticks, Wings, Pizza and Beer..... That's what was on the menu. I wanted to try a new pizza place and yelp helped me find this hidden gem. I was a little nervous as it is close to downtown and with the zombie crawl going on, I thought that they'd be a LOT busier. They weren't! A couple different gentlemen helped us place our order and retrieve our items. They were sure to hook it up with alllll the ranch needed. JJ's is a fun UNR hangout. It is not in walking distance of the campus but it is a quick drive. Lot's of Wolf Pack support here. Pizza is their specialty, but wings are good as well. Lunch time is quite. This an ideal lunch stop if looking for good pizza and quite. Nights will pick up and so will noise. We have frequent here more times then I can count and though no longer living in the area, we make it a point to stop by when in town. We stopped into JJ's Pie Co. for lunch a couple weeks ago because we were craving a really good classic pizza. JJ's did not disappoint! It was quick to order and we found a picnic table to sit at in the back room. The front room had TVs in it for people interested in watching any sports game that is playing. We ordered a couple beers along with a large JJ's Special Pizza and an order of the fried zucchini. The fried zucchini came out pretty quick for us to enjoy while the pizza was still being prepared. The zucchini was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside without getting soggy. It paired perfectly with our cold beers! The pizza was really good and got rave reviews from our full group - it was fresh and filling with a slightly crispy crust. On this visit toppings were only spread in the middle, missing the edges by a good 4 to 6 inches. I didn't notice until I reviewed the overhead photo after the meal. While in the Reno area for Hot August Nights, my wife and I decided to give J.J.'s Pie Company a try. We walked from Virginia Street to the place. It was a bit longer walk than we anticipated but not too bad. Upon arrival on a Friday night at around 8:30 PM, the place was still fairly busy. All of the seating in the front area is bar chair height at the bar and eating tables. We ordered at the counter, as there did not appear to be table service. We ordered a half J.J.'s Special, which included pepperoni, salami, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers; and half Meat Lovers, which included pepperoni, sausage, salami, and linguica. We also ordered a small side salad to split. The salad was ready fairly quickly. They call you to come pick your order up at the counter. The salad was very basic but not bad at all. The pizza was ready after approximately 25 minutes. The crust was on the thicker side, which we tend to like. There were ample toppings, although no sausage that I could find on the meat side and very minimal amount on the special side. The pizza tasted great and really hit the spot. We took half of the pizza home to enjoy another night. The place stayed busy even after we left with people enjoying both the bar and food. "Could've been better" is the exact description of this place. Teeny boppers running the kitchen and under age adults at the register. The environment felt dirty and old. I had heard good things about JJ's and we were craving pizza on a cold night after a river walk and we happened to be in the hood. Pizza Collective was closed on a Monday so we made do. The pizza took forever to come out to us. We ended up having a slice each, taking it home, and doctoring it up to the max. Not worth it in my opinion. For awhile now, I've wanted to order JJ's wings and tonight I finally did. Along with the wings, ranch dressing and garlic toast was supposed to be included. I placed an order online and when I went to get it, happily it was ready to pick up. BUT, when I got home, I found that the garlic toast had been left out which was very disappointing. I called the store to register a complaint and I got a guy (didn't get his name) on the phone. Through a poor phone connection he convinced me he didn't give a rat's butt that I had had a problem. He NEVER said: "I'm sorry for our mistake" or "Let me give you a discount to make it better". Instead, when I told him I was disappointed he responded " OK, you got it". Shortly after I called back to give JJ's a heads-up that I was really upset with their response and would be posting a negative review on Yelp. The woman on the phone - the same person who had helped me at the pickup counter- couldn't have been nicer and was very sorry for my bad experience. A missing slice of garlic toast is by no means a reason to post a negative review-it happens in retail foodservice. But the man I first spoke to seemed to be thinking: "Wow, this job would be SO much better if I didn't have to deal with annoying customers" That's what really caused me to post this negative review. Despite Monday Night football being on, the restaurant was not particularly crowded, so being crazy busy can't be blamed. Ordered four pizzas from JJ's website to be delivered at 6pm. Per the website the pizza was ready at 530 but wasn't picked up until 600. The pizza was delivered around 620 by a DoorDash driver. Because of the delay and late delivery, the pizzas were not hot, barely warm. The pizzas were just ok. Thick crust, ok flavor, and medium to light amount of toppings. Only one of the four pizzas, meat lovers, had a decent amount of toppings. The other three had below par amount of toppings. Definetely not worth the $175 I spent. read more

This was my first time at JJs and it definitely exceeded my expectations, the pizza was great. I got a split veggie and Baja and they were even down the middle. Connor was especially helpful with picking what beer on tap was the best. I was also impressed by the wait staff for being attentive and also having to deal with a disgruntled customer how was unsatisfied with the shape of meat in their sandwich. Props to JJs. read more
