This restaurant is in a little enclosed space, it's super small it might be family owned. It looks like a mom and pop restaurant. But the breakfast is great! I had the pancakes which I really doubted in the beginning because I'm very picky with my pancakes. But these have to be the second or third best pancakes I've ever tasted. The scramble eggs were really nice. The servers were really helpful, they don't heat up there syrup here, and I really like warm syrup on my pancakes so the server was able to bring out a hot tea cup so I can place the syrup in there so I could warm up by the time I pancakes were out. We have visited this restaurant many times during the years on our visits to Key West. this was our last. I sent the restaurant an email to see if they still offered an early dining special, which they did for years. No response for 2 days. I called and asked. The man who answered the phone told me it was 20 percent off everything before 6:30 pm. We arrived the next night at 6:22 pm. I was seated and waited for my husband while he parked. I told the waiter we wanted the early dining special, and was told it was only for locals. I told him nothing was said about locals when I had called the day before. He said he would take care of it. When dinner was over he presented the bill and disappeared. There was no discount. The host came to collect the payment. I asked if he could adjust the bill since the 20 percent off was not applied. I had to then repeat the entire conversation I had with the waiter prior to ordering to him. If he had told us he could not honor the discount, we would have left before we ordered. The host kept saying it was for locals only and that it was on the front door. Repeating the same thing over and over does not change the situation. He got very surly, and I asked to speak to the owner/Chef Correa. He told me they were all managers, then interrupted a server who was engaged at a table, and ask her if he was a manager. She ignored him. I refused to deal with him and told him to get the waiter. He told me if we did not pay, he was calling the police. I would imagine most people in Key West have homes elsewhere and Key West is not their primary home, so what exactly is a local? How many days to you have to be in Key West to be considered a local? How many trips do you have to make to Key Wes in your life time t to be considered a local? Is there a punch card? Tattoo? Figure out a better promotion!! All this for a 20 Percent discount! If wannabe child star host truly were a manager, he should have provided the discount, and told us in the future, they would not be able to do so. So it became a battle of wills! Especially after he threatened to call the police on us when our credit card was in the folio, but I told him he was not allowed to touch it. Unfortunately, the waiter lost, who I think was whom I spoke to the day before when I called, as we did not leave a tip. I still got a 20 percent discount, but since the waiter did not adequately explain what he had told me to the child "host manager", he lost out. At the least, The Host/ Manager needs a new job - he clearly is challenged by any out of the norm requests and certainly does not know how to conduct himself by threatening to call the police on customers, because he is unwilling to resolve a pretty simple request. It's a shame that we were treated this way when it could have been easily resolved. read more

4 of us dined here with reservations. Always an excellent experience! FOOD: Fantastic! The portobello soup is flavorful and just the right amount. The Hog Snapper is flaky, light, cooked beautifully. Even the side items are cooked with amazing flavor. SERVICE: Wonderful. Allen took great care of us. When we were first seated, and were served bread and hummus (complimentary), the power suddenly went out. We waited a few minutes, but there was no indication the power was coming back on so service was halted. We left and drove around and it seemed almost the entire island was out. After 10-15 minutes, the power came back on. We called Cafe Sole and they said they would save our table! So we returned and continued with our meal. ATMOSPHERE: It is cozy and romantic. Enough light to see the menu, but warm enough to set just the right mood. It is not crazy loud in there, even when the place was full. BAR: Good selection of wine. Hill Chard was $15/glass and the Bordeaux was $16. Average pours. This is one of the best restaurants in Key West. The food is always fresh, creative, but not over the top. Came here for our anniversary dinner- was impressed by the comfortable seating but not by the food. We ordered the escargot and lobster bisque as appetizers. The escargot was very good but the bisque was so lacking, especially for the price. Menu said there was a whole lobster in it, but we couldn't find a single piece of meat. For our entree we ordered the snapper solé. The fish was amazing, but the sides felt weird and out of place. As if they chose whatever was lying around. To give the benefit of the doubt, maybe I just don't like French cooking. Overall, I think there are a few things that are definitely worth ordering, which the waiter will tell you they are known for. I would recommend you don't stray from those things. My husband and I go to Key West every year for my birthday/anniversary. This was a new place we went to. We sat at the bar area which only has two seats but it's very cute. Very quaint. Old school Caribbean/french cuisine in nice neighborhood about 8 blocks off Duval. There is outdoor as well as indoor and enclosed porch seating. Service was formal and attentive but initial course took more than 45 minutes to arrive. Food was good but very old fashioned from the 1980's or earlier. We are at this restaurant two nights in a row on our three days on Key West, it was that good. The first night we ordered off the menu and all 4 of us loved our dishes. I can't recall what each of us had, but when you go 4 for 4, you can assume you can't go wrong with anything you order. The waitress was fantastic: so engaging and very professional. You can tell when it's a profession vs a side gig. She told us they cook up fish that you bring in, and it so happened that the next day we went charter fishing and took our haul of mangrove snapper to Cafe Sole, asked for the same waitress and thoroughly enjoyed dinner again. We had choices of how the fish was prepared; we chose sautéed and blackened. Then there were three sauces to put on the fish. It was served with a side of mixed vegetables. Delicious! The fish came out with a greasy panko crust and the vegetables were mushy, looking like they were cooked days ahead. We always look for a new romantic restaurant to try on our annual trip to Key West in February. This year, we just happened to be walking by Cafe Sole and read the menu and figured we'd give it a try. We arrived about ten minutes prior to our reservation, but the very friendly hostess was able to seat us immediately. Our server greeted us right away and shared which items they are known for while providing us menus and water. We both ordered a glass of wine and ordered up 12 oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. While they weren't shucked quite right (several were pretty stuck to the shell), they were absolutely delicious and so fresh. Yum! I took our server's recommendation and had the portobello soup, which lived up to the hype 100%. My husband had French onion which he was also very pleased with. For dinner, I ordered the yellow snapper with mango salsa. It was cooked perfectly and the mango salsa was flavorful and delicious. My husband had the hog snapper (another the server suggested) which he thoroughly enjoyed. The service was efficient and very friendly. What a lovely, gracious place. Had dinner here with 3 friends on Saturday night. It was a lovely experience that ticked all the boxes: food, service, decor, wine and CoVID cleaning. The menu was well-balanced with just the right amount of choice. Hogfish, shrimp and grouper were all expertly prepared. As difficult as it will be, save room for dessert. The pies were great. The Key Lime was so good, it was eaten before it could be photographed. It was the best we had all weekend and we tried a lot of Key Lime pies. Our server was friendly and engaging and provided a thoughtful overview if the menu and wine options. The dining area is casual with dark wood and comfy cushions. Very comfortable. The wine list offered many options from a variety of countries and regions. Tables were thoroughly cleaned between groups and a very large air filter has been installed for air purifying. Horrible. Not worth the price I called fo to go. 1) Their website menu has no price. 2) I ordered Fruit of the Sea Pasta and I get a teeny weeny scallops and shrimp. I asked to put pesto sauce and they said they can do it but I had a teeny meeny pesto sauce. For the price of the pasta is $34 not worth it. The Portablelo soup all I can taste is cream. Our last evening in Key West we went to Cafe Sole. Another couple who were staying in our B&B recommended it highly, so we decided to give it a go. We weren't disappointed. They only have a beer and wine licence, so I got a Kir, which I haven't had in years. I had their fois gras, which was fabulous and a very generous serving. My husband had their French Onion soup. We then shared their Hogfish, which they are known for. It was perfectly prepared. The service was a tad bit slow, but they were very busy, as it was a Friday night. We sat outside, which was very pleasant, as they are on a quiet, out-of-the-way street, with very little traffic. As an added bonus, the home directly next door had the most beautiful orchids in their trees that I have EVER set eyes on- even at an Orchid show! Be sure to check it out! Finally, a 5-star meal in Key West! We tried every restaurant within walking distance of the marinas, and were disappointed at all of them. So we broke down and took a Lyft to Cafe Solé. First, crunchy baguette was served with hummus. I requested butter, and I have to say, the bread with butter, topped with hummus, was absolutely heavenly. The hogfish was to die for. The duck was very good, although the orange sauce was vinegary, so I skipped that. The mashed potatoes and the asparagus were excellent, as were the sides that come with the snapper.
