    Spinach Gyoza Dumplings

While visiting key west, I was addicted. Dinner two nights in a row! Being one of a few Vegan friendly restaurants, they get very busy. Thankfully, Service is very friendly. In addition, There is plenty of indoor seating. I enjoyed everything we ordered. I personally loved the vegan quesadilla although the extra $3 for vegan cheese, ridiculous. Another favorite was the vegan spinach gyozas. I'd be remissed not to mention their vegan carrot cake & vegan key lime pie. 10/10 must try. Ambience is casual island vibes.

So nice, we ate there twice. The good: -Service was very friendly. Our first night there wasn't too busy, but coming back on a Friday this place was pretty packed. -Blackened mahi mahi sandwich was great! -Vegan quesadilla also very delish. -Vegan carrot cake was perhaps one of the best we've had. Super moist cake and pretty realistic "cream cheese frosting". The not so good: -Can't complain nothing to report. Would absolutely come back.

A great find for Vegans! So lucky and happy we found this wonderful place with lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. I had a delicious veggie burger and my boyfriend enjoyed his huevos rancheros. Super cute decor, friendly and fast service. Although they didn't have a vegan Key Lime pie on the menu, the waitress was able to tell me where to get one in Key West. We took her advice and we were pleased to find that she was correct, the Moondog Cafe & Bakery had a Key Lime Pie Tart. This place is a haven for Vegans and Vegetarians. If you're one of those (or just want to enjoy healthy food) and find yourself in Key West, you must go here for a terrific meal.

Our experience at The Cafe was wonderful! We were looking for a plant based option for breakfast and we were greeted with a wonderful waitress, the atmosphere was colorful and cheerful! She started out offering a variety of fresh juices. My husband had orange and I had the watermelon cucumber lime juice which was very refreshing. We ordered the Panchos Huevos Rancheros but substituted the egg for tofu scramble, yummy! My husband's first time subbing the tofu instead of just egg and he is sold now! The meal was very filling and tasty and they gave salsa and vegan mayo! Large cafe and service was excellent! Loved this place and would recommend to anyone going vegan or not!

Staff was incredibly friendly, even helped me choose something on the menu tailored to my particular taste preferences, and they were spot on with the recommendation! I had a delicious peanut stirfry filled with fresh vegetables and grilled tofu. Desperately needed this colorful, flavorful meal after a weekend of fried food.

I've been here every year I come to visit Key West so I was excited to come and visit again :-). During this visit, I visited twice and both experiences were the same unfortunately. The place is adorable. The drinks were delicious in the food is quite yummy.. They are understaffed and the service suffers because of that. Won't be back since there are other vegan options now in KW.

    Cafe piccata with tofu ($25)
    Rachel S.

For a place with such a generic/vague name and a very eclectic menu of mostly American menu but also interestingly a variety of Asian-inspired dishes, I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. I tried the cafe piccata with tofu ($25) and truly loved the piccata flavors which actually went very well with the crispy tofu. The veggies were fresh, and the dish arrived hot after less than 10 minutes. The staff were very friendly toward every customer, and you could tell they are genuinely kind people.

Plenty of vegan options - yay!! the vacation struggle as a vegan is finding something that isn't a salad to eat. the cafe has plenty of vegan options that aren't just vegetables. we got the very veggie pizza with vegan cheese, hummus and pita, un-wing dings (hot), sweet potato fries, and carrot cake. after i added a little bit of salt, everything was delicious. The un-wing dings were tofu pieces fried and tossed in sauce which I really enjoyed - on vacation i miss tofu the most. the pizza was thin and crispy with lots of veggies and melty vegan mozzarella. the pizza also came with a salad that had a very yummy balsamic type dressing. the pita was soft and the hummus was flavorful. the perfect end to our meal was the vegan carrot cake. I do not typically like carrot cake but decided to try. It was soooo moist and not overly chunky. The frosting could have been just a bit sweeter but overall delicious. the service was great and the food came out quicker than I expected.

I have to show major love to The Cafe! It's probably my favorite place to eat in all of key west. Simply for the food. The dining room is colorful and cute, but the food is by far 5 stars and beyond. I've eaten here so many times, and every time I have the best meals. My absolute favorite is the stir fry. I love the tofu and the peanut sauce. The red Thai curry is also delicious but the Peanut sauce is my faaaave. I always leave with a to-go box when I order the stir fry, it's a lot! The salads are also huge and delicious. I've had the quinoa & avocado, the roasted beet & carrot, and also the curried "chickn" salad. All were amazing and filling. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is soooo good! The cold soba peanut noodles are one of my favorites, and the curry soup (on special sometimes) is insanely delicious. Although I'm not a fan of spring rolls, these are thick like mini burrito size! The spinach dumplings were OK, but the polenta sticks and sweet potato fries are awesome. Oh, and the specials menu has a stuffed avocado appetizer that's soooo delicious!! Love that one! For entrees, the curried butternut squash is so unique and delicious. It's an entire squash, open faced, and stuffed with quinoa, Brussels, chickpeas, and more. Yumm. Theres usually a pasta special, and the creamy lobster ravioli is aaaamazing. The fish tacos are also so good! Seriously I've eaten almost everything here and it's hard to pick a favorite because everything is seriously that good!! I've never ordered the pizzas, but I've seen others order pizza and it looks amazing. Everyone needs to eat here, I want the Cafe to stay in business for a long time!! Even if you're not vegan or vegetarian, they have fish, and the plant-based meats are so damn good you'll hardly tell the difference. Try it!! Thank me later!

While visiting we use reviews and seek out new places to try and when we came across the reviews for this place, we wondered how we've missed it in our many past trips, because the reviews were very nice! So, we stopped in for lunch on a weekday and they were moderately busy when we got there; by the time we left, they turned all tables twice! So, clearly they're very popular with the locals! Their menu is an interesting mix of Asian, as well as standard American and tropical fare. We started with their spinach gyoza dumplings and they were INCREDIBLE! So much flavor!! Next up was a side salad, as I wanted to try one of their interesting freshly in-house made dressings and I tried their miso-ginger dressing... it was excellent and the salad was loaded with fresh veggies and leafy greens! Their sandwiches are what we opted for as entrées - Excellent choice, as they were fresh and tasty! Very nicely done!! In all, we really enjoyed our lunch, so we came back for drinks later that evening, as they have freshly made juices they use in their sangrias. The sangrias were decent as well. We'll definitely return when we're in town next!

Does anyone know if they have any fully raw vegan plates here? (I'm on a fully raw diet)?

Yes, they have vegan plates but not sure about the raw part. The one we had were cooked. It's not the best place for vegan in Key West but good enough - you can also check out Sugar Apple and Date & Thyme - great places for vegan food.

Food Blackfin is a beer and wine restaurant, so no cocktails. I'm not a big drinker, but I do enjoy when a place offers creative house cocktails. Since I'm not much of a wine or beer person either, I was initially a bit disappointed. That changed quickly when I saw they served Stiegl Grapefruit Radler. That alone felt like a small vacation in a glass. The menu offers plenty of choices to satisfy almost any palate. We weren't especially hungry, so we opted for a lighter approach: * Grilled Octopus * Tempura Green Beans * Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad Everything we ordered was very good. The salad was fresh and thoughtfully balanced, with bacon, goat cheese, apple, and honey bringing layers of flavor. It was served with a crusty baguette. We don't normally eat bread, but this was a welcome addition. The grilled octopus was tender, flavorful, and served hot. Always a good sign. The tempura items were nicely executed, lightly battered and not greasy. The green beans were crisp with delicate seasoning, served alongside a balsamic glaze dipping sauce that complemented without overpowering. Service Service was attentive throughout the evening. We never felt forgotten, and we never felt rushed. The pacing was natural and relaxed. Thank you, Gabor. Atmosphere The indoor dining area feels quiet and intimate. The outdoor patio in the back leans more casual. Surrounded by a tall fence and shaded by trees that form natural canopies, it offers a sense of privacy that can be hard to find in many of the more open-air restaurants along Duval Street. Even though this was a lighter, abbreviated meal for us, my sense is that Blackfin would be an excellent choice for a full dinner. We would definitely plan to return on our next visit to Key West.
