The food was definitely a steal for the price. Although, I was a little disappointed due to the overwhelming amount of excellent reviews. Don't get myself wrong, the service was great. Our waitress was attentive, kind, and even with a lot of customers on her plate, she handled us with equal care and attention. She was so sweet and reminded us to hydrate on these blistering hot Florida days. The food overall I just feel like was mediocre, you pay what you get for type of situation. We had a mediocre experience at Harpoon Harry's at lunchtime today. When we arrived we were greeted quickly and we asked to be seated. The girl at the counter asked if we minded sitting at the counter which we agreed to. Shortly after being seated we noticed a table being cleared and asked if we could move to the table. The waitress we asked said that would be fine, but another who was cleaning the table at the time said she wasn't done yet. Then she rudely confronted us about waiting to check to see if they had anyone on a list to be seated. It then took about 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. The waitress who finally took our order was taciturn at best, barely speaking to us. I asked for cheese on my bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato breakfast sandwich. She suggested cheddar which I eagerly agreed to. I also asked to have cheddar cheese on my grits. My partner asked for a poached egg and corned beef hash. She asked that the whites were not runny at all and the waitress seemed to scoff at her. When the food finally arrived everything looked great, but my sandwich had Swiss cheese on it and the grits had American. Though it was very tasty. My partners food came out perfectly. Less inside seating than we expected; ended up sitting at the bar, which wasn't all that great with the wait staff standing right in front of us most of the time. They do have a couple of small outside tables. The burgers were good, but not great. Seemed like pre-made packaged burger patties to me. The onion rings and fries were pretty tasty. The staff were friendly and conversational. Note that it's a cash-only restaurant (no credit cards), but there is an ATM at the front door. This is a regular stop when I am in Key West. The breakfast is large and good quality. The restaurant is always packed and there is a wait for seating. The decor is fun with tongue in cheek signs that make it fun. I always encourage friends to try out Harry Harpoons. read more

Stumbled on this place for lunch. It's a cash only place. I did a search online for GF and they had good reviews but that was not my experience. There is nothing marked on the menu and the server was not knowledgeable. She said just order whatever you think is GF. I'm celiac and cannot just order whatever I think is good for me. I asked if she could ask the kitchen if the fries were GF and she said she was busy and would need to check later. She came back and said they were GF. I ordered an omelette and asked for it to be in a clean new pan. She said she would relay the message. The food was overall decent. read more

We put our name on the list and had a bit of a wait so we hung around outside and walked around the docks to check out the keys. It's been soooo long since I been downtown near the docks in the keys. Fantastic breakfast! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Country boy poboy and I had the western omelette with breakfast potatoes and sourdough toast. It was all delicious and served to us still piping hot. It's an art deco diner vibe and cash only establishment but well worth the wait. "Throwback" is the word that comes to mind when walking into Harpoon Harry's. This has the eclectic look of a 50's diner with touches of rock 'n roll through the ages. Where else can you see a classic display of 8-track tapes on the wall? Even the hostess had a fabulous beehive 'do. We stopped for breakfast and enjoyed looking at the displays on the walls while we waited for our food. Unfortunately the food wasn't as great as we had anticipated. I had eggs, home fries, and rye toast. Everything tasted fairly bland. I had to toss on salt & pepper to add some flavor. My wife ordered the key lime pie stuffed french toast topped with fresh fruit. What a great combo! The warm key lime pie was delicious, but the french toast was underwhelming. Two thin slices of toast in a non-descript batter. The meal had such potential but didn't live up to expectations. The server was pleasant and seemed to enjoy her job.
