Charged us twice the amount for my drink as she incorrectly brought me a drink that was not on their happy hour menu even though I ordered a specific drink from that menu. Staff person was very rude and said it was my fault that I should have caught the mistake myself before I drank it. Tried to get her to honor the happy hour price but nope. Asked for a manager and supposedly none were available. Left my phone and asked for a manager. No one ever called. Left messages on a special manager voice mail . No response. The rudeness bothered me more than the overcharge and the lack of management response just made it worse. Won't be back. read more

This is a more upscale restaurant in the Keys. The food is superior and never disappoints. They accommodated a late night drop-in and made us feel welcome. The food is excellent. We started with a shared salad and we shared one of the specials as well. They split both servings and made me one of the best rum Old fashioned drinks I have ever had. After stopping in here last year on a Food & Walking tour, I was excited to come back for a dinner reservation this year. I made a reservation on Open Table and requested balcony seating which we were given. I also noted that it was a birthday dinner which the server also recognized by bringing out dessert at the end of the meal. We all absolutely loved our food and the service was top notch. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu, friendly, and never kept us waiting or wanting for anything. He brought clean flatware between courses and kept our beverages full. I enjoyed the Heart of Palm salad with added grilled shrimp which was plentiful. Others at the table had the snapper (whole fish!), lobster fettuccine, and roasted chicken. We had made reservations in advance so we were able to be seated right away. We had brunch and was seated upstairs inside. It was bright and sunny outside, so glad we were indoors. Had the fish tacos with black beans and rice. The fish tacos were not heavy and was very light. The cilantro cream sauce was really good. The pico de gallo was very refreshing to have. Our waitress was very nice and had the prettiest name. She made sure to keep filling up our waters on that hot day. The fish special was lacking flavor, fish was very overcooked as well as the vegetable risotto, fish was lukewarm-definitely not fresh out of the sauté pan, maybe partially precooked. We thought the food came out super fast for it to be cooked to order. The lobster was overcooked, pasta lacked Parmesan cheese that would have provided the salt and flavor that the dish needed. Chicken dish was enjoyed, tuna was ok. Only found out that the fish special was $60 when we got the bill, would have sent back for recook as 2 of us ordered and both dishes were overcooked. While waiting for sunset celebration at Mallory Square, we decided to stop and have early dinner here. we ordered their specialty cocktail : cucumber cooler and the mule. The mule was our favorite, like the ginger beer, it match well with vodka. The cucumber cooler has a bit of bitter after taste, it's quite refreshing. Staff was very professional & polished. It was a nice change of pace in key west to dine somewhere upscale, and I felt the food and service was well worth the price. I did choose this restaurant specifically because of all the rave reviews about the swordfish- unfortunately to me the seasoning was way too salty and I've had better swordfish if I'm being honest. So glad to have finally tried Bagatelle. We were a large group and seated quickly, though I'm almost certain someone in our group had a reservation. The service was excellent! I started with the cucumber basil martini and it was stand out delicious. For dinner I got the blackened swordfish and was really impressed by it! The serving size was way more than enough for me. We did get a couple orders of mussels for the table and as someone who only eats mussels occasionally, if not rarely, I found theirs phenomenal... I really liked the cognac peppercorn cream sauce. I was able to try some of the Key Lime Pie and found it good but thought was maybe too much meringue for me, though I recognize that's kind of a key west staple. read more

When we got inside at 10:45, we were told it is only at the bar, so we moved upstairs to some additional bar tables. The server upstairs said HH ends at 11 now per her owner, and since it was 11:01 she couldn't put it in the system. After involving several other staff, they said they would honor the 11:30 time. The food was super average. The lobster mac and cheese had a couple specks of lobster in it. The corned beef hash was very dried out and had a lot of fatty pieces that looked like potato. We found our breakfast dishes to be well prepared, very flavorful and nicely presented. We had some delicious Mango Mojitos. You have to get those. Why not a 5 you ask? The whole time we were sitting there an employee was talking to someone else at the bar in such a loud manner that we couldn't enjoy our time together. We were really excited to try bagatelle as our first meal in Key West. I had seen lots of good reviews on social media. After getting in late on New Year's Eve, we made reservations for New Year's Day brunch. The reservation was not necessary. When we arrived at 10am it was not busy at all. Perhaps this is just due to everyone still being asleep after the NYE festivities. We were seated upstairs on the outdoor deck. Service was pretty prompt but there was a dead bug in my water glass. Not the best start to the meal but also pretty understandable when water pitchers are outside. I ordered a mimosa and a coffee with cream and sugar. I was only provided artificial sweeteners and the container they came in was dirty. We booked the restaurant largely based on reviews of the cinnamon roll starter. We were notified that they were out of them. They were also out of buns so all the sandwiches would be on toast. They were also out of egg whites for any of the omelettes. All in all a pretty disappointing lack of items for the first day of the year. I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict and my husband had traditional breakfast. Both were just ok. Everything was a little lukewarm which is again disappointing. I anticipated crispy home potatoes based on other pictures. But these were soggy and overly doused in paprika. The mimosa was good though. I MIGHT try again for dinner if I'm ever in Key West again, but unlikely given the other great places we ate. read more

Had a lovely meal at Bagatelle on my most recent Key West adventure. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. We opted to sit at the bar and order a couple of martinis to start the night. We also threw in an order of blistered shishito peppers, which came with a hot honey glaze which gave the dish a nice kick. For my entree, I opted for the lobster fettuccine, which was served in a roasted garlic herb sauce and came with cherry tomatoes and spinach. It was very flavorful and although spiny lobster isn't always my favorite, this particular lobster tail was juicy, succulent, and grilled to perfection. I would absolutely come back to Bagatelle the next time I'm in Key West! read more

Had a wonderful dinner me and my wife. The waitress serving on the 2nd floor Balcony was a problem. Our reservation was at 5:45pm and the sun was going down and my wife was sitting facing the Sun. Asked the waitress to have someone lower the sunblind and she said there's Eisenglass there and won't help. So, I got pissed off with her excuse and got one of the other workers to lower the Blind which worker just fine blocking the Sun as it was frying my wife's face off....!!!!! Our dinner cost $200, so when a customer asks to have someone lower the Blind, then just do it....!!!!! I nicely handed the young man lowering the Blind $10 and left the waitress a 15% tip for shoddy service. Coming from NYC, I was tempted to leave her a 1 cent Tip. Made our meal "un-enjoyable"...!!!!! It was very fresh yet was lacking a bit of flavor since we are used to the Hawaiian version. My wife had the grouper and it may have been the best fish we've had since we have been here. I had the NY strip steak. It was average for the price. Slightly overcooked. More medium than medium rare. We finished with the bananas foster brownie which we were both disappointed with. This place was really swanky. We came here during the day as part of a food walking tour in Key West, Florida. It was a cozy room with several tall pub tables and a private bar with a beautiful carved wooden bar. We were served a sample of lobster mac-n-cheese. It was amazing!!! I don't generally eat shellfish. I usually find the texture rubbery and the favor unpleasant, but that was far from the case here. The chunks of lobster were hearty and flaky with no discernible seafood flavor. The mac-n-cheese was a great way to highlight the lobster without hiding this star. I'm certain the prices here are double or triple what they would be in other areas of the US. Bring your credit card and save up for the experience. You can also aim for their happy hour times to take advantage of some of the price deals. Tables have starched white linens and fine cutlery and server sets. I must write as this was our 10th NYE at Bagatelle Key west and the worst ever. They were out of a 1st course, the foie gras was delicious while the lobster Mac was full of lobster but no taste. The real disappointment was the filet mignon. It was poorly cooked with NO flavor, the mashed potatoes were funny tasting and the asparagus was almost raw. Considering the meal was $210 per person plus a bottle of wine, we were charged the gratuity ($100) for a group of 6 or larger. We would have given that gratuity but would have preferred to offer it ourselves. This was a $600 meal and I can say never again. If the food was its usual outstanding fare we would have been back. Our experience was wonderful. We were there for a bachelorette and thy gave us an amazing table on the front patio. It was a little warm outside (mid July) but we could hear live music from down that street and that was very cool. The food was spectacular and everyone loved their cocktails. The chef came out to talk to us after the meal and that made it even more special. They brought out a complimentary slice of key lime pie with a sky high meringue and a giant sparkler on top. The bride said it tasted even better than Kermit's, which is crazy because she is always at Kermit's! Our server was jay and he was just delightful. My mom and I went to dinner here on our first night in Key West last month. One of my best friends recommended this place and I am so glad we made it here! I requested to sit outdoor/on the balcony and we ended up sitting right in front, along the balcony with a view of Duval Street. Martinis were delicious to start, especially the lemon drop. For food, we shared several appetizers, including the burratta and Brie with carmelized pineapple. Both delicious! We both got the crabcakes for our entrées, and they were some of the best we had ever had. Speaking of... The key lime pie was also amazing, with tons of meringue on top. We will definitely head back here our next time in Key West! Just an FYI - there are many loose chickens/birds running around in the keys. They had a very good wine selection and one of the best mocktails I've ever tried!(black cherry midnight). We tried the bagatelle salad and the burrata - both were delicious. The grilled peaches on the burrata really stole the show for salad though! As mains we got the swordfish and the hogfish. Both were simply amazing. The swordfish was grilled to perfection and served with the most unique risotto I've had. The hogfish was seasoned amazingly which I find hard to do since it has such a sweet & delicate flavor. The pepper cream sauce served over it was stellar and didn't distract from the fish which was the star of the plate! The only thing I can say is I regret not leaving room for dessert! read more

After having a great experience here a few years ago, we decided to visit again this week. The service was fine but the food was not up to our expectations. The lobster fettucine was served with the lobster in the shell. I know it's a personal choice, but we don't care for it that way. However, the lobster was extremely dry and overcooked. The grouper had the opposite problem, cooked around the outside but raw in the middle. I get that everyone has an off night occasionally, but my main gripe is what happened afterwards. I kept a copy of the receipt with the amount that was charged including the amount of the tip I added (20%). When I got home and checked the charges on my account, the amount of the total I signed for had been changed with an additional $3 added. This was not the tax or the CC surcharge, just extra money that was added to my bill that I can only assume was someone helping themselves to an additional tip? I tried to rectify this by calling the restaurant. Twice I was sent through to voice mail, twice I left my information and asked for a call back, and twice, I was ignored. I know that $3 is not a lot of money but this kind of thievery is just wrong. We travel to Key West quite often but needless to say, we won't be going back to Bagatelle. read more
