Came here on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful dinner with my boyfriend. The butter that was given with the bread was delicious!! We ordered the octopus and the arancini to start. They were both good. For my entree I ordered the veal Marsala and my bf ordered the chef's piccata. I feel my dish had a bigger portion than his, but they were both good. I think the veal being fried just threw me off a bit I would have preferred it to be pan seared but no big deal. The Marsala sauce was really good. Overall we enjoyed our dinner here a lot. Came in to celebrate our anniversary tonight! It is located in the historic seaport on a second floor with beautiful views of the marina. As you enter it is very elegant inside and the service is very professional. We ordered the butternut squash ravioli house made and they were delicious! We also ordered the Piccata special which was a grouper fish. It was all very well prepared and fresh with good ingredients. We were also treated to a free dessert at the end to celebrate our anniversary. We got the vanilla gelato with pistachio liquor and the tiramisu. What a fabulous end to our delicious meal!!! Terrible in my opinion. We got the risotto and it was slop with a fishy taste and smell. Once we told the waiter about the food our service became no existent. Other than that they had a family that was obnoxious. There daughter decided to tap dance for a hour while people were eating. The family couldn't care less while the daughter walked up to tables and talked and yelled at people. The family face timed and watched videos at the table. Pretty crazy experience. read more

Not usually a noteworthy thing for me, but the bread service here was amazing. Finally nice to find bread and butter in the area that didn't taste like it just finished thawing. Really soft, fresh, and the butter was mixed with garlic and olive oil I believe. My chicken piccata had perfect breading and texture, caressed by the lemon and caper flavors threading through the sauce. Next time, I'll definitely try their fish of choice in the same preparation as my family seemed to enjoy that version as well. The tiramisu was also an excellent choice of dessert. Soft, moist, and not overly rich. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a lovely view of the harbor walk and marina. Great outdoor seating with a dim intimate feel overlooking the water. Bel Mare was top two, if not #1, of the best dining experiences hubs and I have ever had! There were 8 in our group. Everyone agreed the whole experience from the service and food were excellent! For starters, we shared the ceviche, beef carpaccio, clams and marrow, and mussels. I've never been a big fan of mussels but these were delicious! We all ordered different seafood entrees and they were phenomenal. My wine and water glasses never went empty. Espresso martinis were delish! Easily number 1 restaurant in Key West! We have had an amazing anniversary dinner and I am saying AMAZING - 10/10 experience. Everything was perfect - food, ambiance & staff which is super rare in Key West especially. We started off with octopus & Cesar salad. My man is a Cesar salad connoisseur to say the least and he LOVED it! Then we had Vongole pasta& lobster risotto - yum! And we finished off with Tiramisu. Lobster risotto was a little too mild for my taste but overall everything was just perfect! Also I want to give a shout out to the staff that made me the best mocktail - strawberry virgin mojito! It was not too sweet and tasted almost like the real one just no alcohol! It's rarely a thing that they can make you mocktail that won't give you diabetes even in the really nice restaurants so I give them extra +10 to the overall score! This place is mediocre at best besides being a total rip off. Their prices are significantly higher than New York City restaurants while the food is just not worth it at all lacks quality and very basic. Service was also horrible our waiter who were chatty and nice in the beginning harassed us outside the restaurant because we gave less than 20%. I had to send back their Caesar salad bc it had practically zero dressing. Cocktails were also super mediocre as well as their wine selection. Well... we thought that based on reviews and the higher prices that this restaurant would be much better than the typical mediocre touristy places in Key West. First of all, even though I gave them 2 stars, everyone that worked there was super friendly and attentive (more later). We ordered Mussels and Burrata for appetizers. My impression is that no one in the kitchen ever ate good Italian food. Everything we ordered was tasteless and not "Italian" in any way. The mussels were severely overcooked and dry. The sauce was unremarkable. Read - basically tasteless. The Burrata itself was good but the dish was bland. We ordered some salads - again no taste and boring. For dinner I had the veal Marsala. There was no taste of Marsala wine and no amount of salt could fix it. Again, not Italian in any way other than name. I will say that the cocktails were pretty good but they didn't come from the kitchen! Our server was friendly but disappeared for long stretches of time. The total bill for 3 people was $240+ including a 20% tip. If you want to grab a drink, then I would recommend. Otherwise, save your money because we felt like we got ripped off for those prices! read more

This place is decent but the price makes no sense for what you're getting. We tried a few things including the buratta, salad, and lobster pasta. The lobster dish was $80 and although it was good, it wasn't worth it at all so I'd recommend skipping it. I'm a vegetarian which is often very difficult in terms of fine dining. For entrees, majority of their items included meat or chicken stock. When I told the waiter of my dietary restrictions, he offered to bring me a kids menu which featured pasta with marinara sauce and butter noodles. That's a bizarre reaction! We've been here twice in 3 days. Once in the dining room and once at the bar. FOOD: Excellent! The Caesar salad is fresh, with tasty dressing, lots of shaved parm and croutons that are airy. The cream of mushroom soup is a generous portion, has wonderful flavor and finely chopped mushrooms for a pleasant texture. The mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly with creamy flavor. The veal bolognese had soft veal crumbles, tasty sauce and fresh pasta. They offer half portions which I found to be generous in size. The fish ceviche was also excellent and has enough sauce to dip the fresh bread in. The pappardelle capri had a light sauce and fresh pasta. It had 4-5 shrimp, most were cooked perfectly, one was a teeny bit overcooked. BAR: a dozen or so comfy seats. The bar rim is a bit wide so I had to lean over when eating, but it is a beautiful wood and clean. Nice selection of craft cocktails, beer and wine. Dayron makes an excellent cosmo. Proper amount of alcohol and measured ingredients which result in the proper proportions of vodka, cointreau, lime and cranberry juice. SERVICE: Excellent. Dayron was happy to adjust my drink to my preference after explaining how he makes his own version. He and Kim checked on us and were a great team ensuring our drinks and waters were refreshed, bread arrived and meal was to our liking. ATMOSPHERE: It was a pretty quiet night, a Wednesday evening around 6pm, the bar had 4-6 other customers, and the restaurant looked 1/2 full. My bestie and I were in the keys to celebrate her birthday and one of the bartenders we met recommended that we go to Bel Mare for our last dinner. Glad we did! We had such a cute little date and had delicious seafood. Our waiter was really nice and recommended some things. We shared the oysters, ordered mussels but never got them whoopsies, and a salad. The oysters were solid. The shrimp pasta was amazing! The shrimp was large and juicy. The pastas come in two sizes which was nice! I wish more places did that. Since they forgot about our mussels, they gave us complimentary cannolis. So delicious! Didn't have room to eat more but I forced myself and I'm so glad Nice spot for a date or with the family. The food was good to very good, the space is upscale beachy, the view is Key West postcard, the prices are pushing it and the noise level was intolerable. I do note that the server realized how bad it was and was persuaded to move us to a different part of the restaurant. The BEST meal we had during our visit to Key West. The service: We were served by Jay, who was wonderful, attentive, and answered all of our questions. Our food came out fast and fresh, nothing to disappoint. The food: WOW The appetizers (the crodu and the ceviche) were both unique and delicious. I personally preferred the crudo as the pesto paired with it wasn't your typically pesto. My step dad also wanted me to mention that the Caesar salad was the best he's ever had (and trust me, he's had a LOT of Caesar salads.) The mains were all show stoppers, but mine especially (yay)! I ordered the chefs special piccata and it was out of this world. The grouper was cooked perfectly, the orzo was so tangy with the artichoke, olive, caper, and butter sauce, and the broccolini was the perfect veggie for the dish. I could NOT have been more pleased with my order. Everyone else loved theirs as well, especially my mothers order of the orchiette pesto dish with the butterfly's shrimp (I tried it and it was intact phenomenal). All of the pastas are made in house too! Always a win for me! We then ordered the cannoli (which came with three little cannolis) a creme brûlée, and an espresso. The espresso was the best of the bunch; the cannoli's were unique, but the flavor fell flat in my opinion.
