We dined here last night and had the most amazing experience. We were seated on one of the two private patios, where we had our own intimate dinner with an incredible view of the marina. We ordered a Caesar salad and tomato caprese salad to start, followed by pork osso bucco and veal bolognese for dinner, all of which were served hot and tasted delicious. I had a Hugo cocktail with dinner which combines St. Germain and Prosecco, and my husband raved about the Smoked Godfather. He said it was one of the best cocktails he ever had. Disappointing meal at Bel Mare. Right off the bat, our $17 appetizer of tomato and mozzarella included at least two green tomatoes. Any decent chef would understand that green tomatoes are difficult to eat (because they're quite hard) and sour, which these were. The meals were ok. My wife's scallops were somewhat grainy (not cleaned well) and my fish was ok. The problem is that $45 for a piece of room temperature fish on broccoli with a tiny amount of sauce isn't going to cut it. The food was what I'd expect to pay $30 for in the touristy section of Manhattan, with more flavor. Overall, definitely not worth it for what they are charging. read more

Swung by the restaurant for a quick bite on sat before a conference call. Made a reservation for 7:30 but was told they were running late. Around 7:50, there seemed no hope for a table, so I took a bar seat instead. To compensate for the wait, the hostess Ashley kindly asked the bartender to offer a drink, which was not necessary but I appreciated. Then came the most perplexing part of the evening. I asked for a menu but was completely ignored until 8:05, 20 minutes after sitting down. Had to grab Ashley for a menu after failing to grab the attention of the bartenders. Another 15 minutes or so passed, no one came to take orders as the bar tender Matthew was involved in talking to a couple of guests in front of him. Don't get me wrong- he's nice but just was very focused in talking to others. Too bad his attention span did not include me. :) By then, I had been sitting there idling for nearly half an hour... Finally placed the order with the hostess(!) after she came to check on me. The starter came rather quickly, but then, I again was left on my "Waiting for Godot" mold for over half an hour for someone to clean my plate. I waited and waited but no one came. I had to grab the hostess again and asked if she could help check on my entry, whereas the bartender was raving about his next adventure to open a bar in Brazil next summer.. The same story continued the entire evening. I had to order and asked for help from either the hostess passing by or the other female bartender who stood at the other end of the bar, despite the bartender Matthew stood almost right in front of me. I cannot grasp what's the reason behind the complete ignorance: because I dressed casually or because I didn't order cocktails to keep a clear head for work? Anyways, the starter mozzarella cheese with tomato was edible but rather plain. The so-called house made mozzarella cheese ball was more like the hard ones that you get in supermarkets, not Buffalo style. The squash ravioli was delish. The restaurant allows you to order half size pastas, which is great. I went for Tiramisu for desert. It's just alright... The two stars went for the hostess Ashley. Three cheers to you! read more

If you're looking to enjoy an amazing dinner at a beautiful restaurant with fantastic service - this is it! If you really want exceptional service ask for Brad as your server. He is super knowledgeable about the area, incredibly entertaining, and a true professional at his craft. Meticulously crafted by Head Chef Shawn, the Veal Marsala is the best I have ever had - ever. The veal is melt in your mouth tender with an addictively creamy Marsala sauce and presented beautifully. The Lobster Diablo is another fantastic dish with the looks to back it up. Pro tip - It has quite a kick, but the heat can be tuned to suit your palate just ask your server. Be sure to save room for dessert! They have wonderful options, or stop by the bar for an after dinner cocktail. He really made our dinner a night to remember, We started with a Caesar salad that wowed from the crunchy home made croutons and shaved Parmesan to the perfectly balanced dressing. Surprisingly Great food! I was so looking forward to seeing what Key West was all about that I drove my poor family from landing in Miami straight to Key West which was an almost 4 hour drive! I immediately regretted that decision as there was literally nothing worth this drive in Key Largo or Key West. Of course the scenery was beautiful but there are no good coffee shops or restaurants nor hotels & the town looks run down. Am glad our experience at Bel Mare was a very good one. I wanted pasta and fresh seafood and ended up at Bel Mare. I want to start off by saying the atmosphere and vibes of this restaurant is a 15/10. Located on the second floor by the marina. Huge windows, great decor, and the sweetest servers/hosts. We had fresh bread with some garlic butter on our table after we were seated. My brother ordered the special smoked whiskey drink ($20) while I got a glass of white wine ($12 per glass). My brother was so obsessed with his drink, he ordered another! For main entrees, I ordered the clams and fettuccine, my brother got the pappardelle with shrimp, and my dad got the lobster scampi with zucchini noodles. My dad was not a fan of the zucchini noodles and he could not substitute. My brother and I lovvvved our meals. The pasta was fresh and made in house. The sauces were so tasty as well. Presentation was also a 10/10. I will forsure come back to this restaurant. Next time I will order more food because I could eat it all! read more

We were super impressed with this Restaurant. More elevated cuisine with a Seafood Italian focus. We started with a mushroom soup and it came with truffle oil. I'm not a fan of truffle oil because the quality is usually not there and it's too intense. If it didn't have that it would be an eight out of 10. No bread service. I ordered the seafood stew which was really good and had spice to it. Similar to a cioppino. My wife had the the Veal Bolognese and it was just fantastic. Everyone else seem to like their meals. It's good but not great. They sat us at a tiny table while everything else was open. The ceviche was disgusting. The fish was very fresh but was ruined due to all the extreme sweetness it has. It is sweeter than a brownie sundae. Veal agnolotti was amazing but besides the pasta it was veal fat and ends of mushrooms. The other entree we got was a (shrimp Rissoto) but came out wrong after sending it back they brought another entree which was not right but we didn't say anything because that would be the third item we are sending back. First they brought lobster scampi with zucchini noodles then they brought pesto shrimp pasta which we didn't send back even though it was not what we ordered. I would rate this as 3.5 stars. We came here for dinner last night. The restaurant is located on the water in the marina. We were seated indoors and it was a nice ambiance. For starters, we had had the prosciutto with melons and carne cruda. The carne cruda had slices of raw meat with an arugula salad. I was kind of taken aback by how thick the meat slices were. I was expecting it to be thinly sliced (like a carpaccio) or more like a bruschetta on toast. It was still very good though. The main courses we had Veal Bolognese, Linguine with clams, Lobster scampi, and Chicken cacciatore. The linguine with clams came with a lot cheese on top so my mother had to switch for the lobster scampi, which she loved. My father said the linguine with clams was too cheesy (and he likes cheese). The menu did not mention any cheese on this dish, so I recommend asking if you are not a cheese lover. The veal bolognese wasn't that great in my opinion. The plating of it looked kind of messy. For a place that calls itself a "fine dining restaurant", it wasn't fine dining for me except for the ambiance. We celebrated our friend's birthday here on a long weekend in Key West. Everything we ordered was outstanding, from a shared Pappardelle Capri to the Lobster Scampi to several "surf and turf" specials (the lobsters were fresh out of the ocean here in Florida). Great cocktail and wine list too. The ambience was great as we had a table overlooking the harbor, and the service was generally top notch. I give the food a four star rating and the service a five. Jade was an excellent server, very gracious and professional and helpful with the menu. She checked on me several times, and I very much enjoyed chatting with her. I was seated outside overlooking the dock (and the yachts); it was kind of dark - the manager, Michaela, bent over backwards to make sure I had sufficient light and to accommodate me. I was very impressed with both Michaela and Jade. The pork osso bucco was excellent. The Caesar salad was a little heavy on the dressing, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Bel Mare was recommended by the concierge at our resort. That always makes me a little leery since I'm never sure what actually garners a concierge recommendation. This one was a winner for sure! We loved the bar, the wait staff, and the food so much that we returned for a second dinner before leaving KW for home. Although the restaurant has been open for only 2 months, everything about it was polished and professional. And the food is amazing! (Don't miss the mussel appetizer.) When they ran out of the pasta indicated on the menu for my entrée, the chef came out of the kitchen to apologize for the substituted pasta (also delicious) and offered us a complimentary dessert. Amazing. My girlfriends and I went here for my birthday and it was exquisite. We had the Pappardelle Capri dish which was delicious. If you're not patient I would say the only downside is that the wait for the food was long. I also did not get a birthday dessert or song from the staff even though they asked wether it was my birthday or not and I said yes, i guess they don't do birthdays here. I can't say enough great things about Bel Mare. I live in Charleston, SC and I like to think we have a great food scene; I can be sort of hard to impress. Having said that, we went to Bel Mare one night and then cancelled our reservations at another place 2 nights later, so we could go back. The sauce for the pappardelle pasta was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The caprese salad and special ceviche were fantastic. We also tried the bolognese, the special black grouper piccata...there was nothing we tried that wasn't absolutely delicious. The ambiance and decor is awesome and the cocktails were GREAT. The best part is that everything (wine, cocktails, food) was so incredibly well-priced. If you're a fan of Italian, I would definitely give them a shot (and seriously, get at least one person to order the pappardelle!). read more

We had birthday dinner reservations at Bel Mare- started with a Paloma and Hemingway daiquiri, both well prepared and generous sizes! The fresh bread brought to the table after our server Jared took the order was beautifully plated and the herb butter/garlic olive oil spread was sooooo yummy. We tried the ceviche which, having eaten at many Peruvian restaurants, was a pleasant surprise of lightly marinated yellowtail with watermelon balls, orange zest and spicy jalepeno slices. We are used to a heavy citrus "cook" of our ceviche fish so to have it more almost sashimi style was really different, and very good! For entrees we choose the veal pasta dish (Veal Agnolotti)Scallops basically it was super tender braised veal with tasty fresh pasta "pillows" finished with a truffle oil and Demi glacé as well as the scallop and pork belly dish over mashed potatoes and green beans. Both dishes were absolutely superb, my favorite part was having a little Demi left at the bottle of the bowl to pour over the rest of the mashed potato's.. absolutely heavenly. I had mentioned in making my reservation that it was my husbands birthday and not only was he wished a "happy birthday" from all of the staff we encountered, he was also served some lovely fresh cannoli with a sparkler on it- on the house. Overall- if we had any one small complaint it would be the noise level in the restaurant made it really difficult to carry on a conversation and we were sitting right next to each other- there was a rather large raucous group who although we appreciated they were having a great time, hindered the more romantic atmosphere we would expect from such a fine dining establishment. Wow! We were so impressed. This restaurant recently opened above what is now the White Tarpon (used to be the Boathouse) in the space that used to be the Commodore (for those who don't know, the Boathouse is moving to what used to be Turtle Kraals -- yeah, confusing). The food and service were fabulous, and you cannot beat the panoramic 270 degree view of Key West Bight. This place is top shelf and -- possibly because it's still new -- the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more
