Came back for 3rd time. Egypt our server was spot on. Food was the best. The wines are exceptional ! I had veal bolognese for the 3rd time. 1/2 portion plate and it was the greatest Italian restaurant we have been to in ages. My mom and I had a lovely evening. Elizabeth was our server and she was wonderful. Kind, thoughtful, open, and smart. Her food recommendations were spot on, as were her wine recommendations. It was my mom's birthday (actually the day after) and she brought a piece of cake with a sparkler. Mom had the Chef's Piccata and I had the shrimp peppardelle. Both were to die for. Key West is awesome. Good basic food but if you want fine dining, make sure you go to Bel Mare. We dined there and after a minor issue, Travis was on top of the issue and our experience and food was the best. We started with the Tomato Caprese salad and it was the best. Buffalo mozzarella and aged balsamic over heirloom tomatoes was spectacular. Followed by lobster diavolo and veal Marsala. Both were mouth watering and cooked to perfection. The canoli for desert was delightful and chocolate gelato was awesome. I highly recommend a night here if you want to treat yourself. Thank you Travis for making our evening special. read more

Excellent meal (one of the best we had in Key West). The food was great, good wine selection with affordable options, and overall wasn't too rough on the wallet. The Grouper Piccata special was great as was the Pappardelle Capri. The waiter was helpful with the wine selection and since they offered the bottle he recommended by the glass as well, he brought out two small glasses of that wine for my wife and I to try at no charge before ordering the bottle. The kitchen also had a slight hold-up while we were there and they brought us some additional wine on the house since we had finished the bottle prior to our entree's coming out. Came here to celebrate a special occasion and had a great experience. Five of us all enjoyed our food and wine. The service was impeccable. We never had to ask for anything as the servers were on it before we needed it. When I unknowingly dropped my napkin on the floor, I had a new one before I even knew what happened. Bel Mare offers excellent food and service in a nice setting overlooking the harbor. The menu offers house made pastas, Italian specialties and fresh fish. Some of my favorites are the veal bolognese, the osso bucco, the fresh catch piccata and the burratta salad. Portions are large, so consider sharing salad or appetizers. We usually go home with another full meal from leftovers. The wine list was very good with decent options under $60. They also have a full bar. My reason for removing one star is that they no longer offer half orders of their pasta dishes which was a great way of having a pasta as a first course. Now, the portions are too large unless you have it as a main course. Also, the place can be very loud especially if there's a large party of drunk people, which is pretty common in Key West. Overall I recommend this restaurant for an excellent, high end meal. It is $$$$$. read more

My wife and I decide to try the new Bel Mare restaurant in Key West. It's an upscale Italian place. As appetizers we shared a Caesar salad, ceviche, and Antipasti. Delicious!! For our main course I had the veal bolognese and she has the Wild mushroom Risotto. We left satisfied and wonderfully full. My mama was Italian and fresh off the boat many many years ago and it was tough to find an excellent Italian restaurant until last night. I guarantee that We will return again and again. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended from a local. We've eaten at some of their other restaurants before and enjoyed them. The first issue was the restaurant was hot. When you pay the prices that they charge you expect to be comfortable. We asked our server and she said there was nothing she could do. She was a great and friendly server though. There were 8 of us total in the party. We ate dinner around 8:30 pm. By 2 am 3 of the party were sick. I was up all night on the toilet and feeling horribly nauseous. Not exactly what I want to be doing on vacation. I'm not surprised if I get sick from a food truck but not a fine dining establishment such as this one. Our bill was over $700 and 3 got sick. I won't be going back on future vacations to KW. read more

I have been to Key West a lot........this will be a staple of must eat every time we are there. Not only did I eat there, I also hired them to do a private event (Wedding Lunch) that people have raved about for days........not only will you get some of the best food ever, you will get great service, great bartenders, great cleaning crew. It was by far the best experience to the point where I went there 3 times in a week. The chef (Shane) was top notch to the point I did not even know a Chef would be that great coming around to tables checking in with guests....what makes you realize how great it is is the way the staff works with each other......the bartenders were amazing, the staff was amazing, the food was amazing. From the well trained team to the sophisticated menu that surprises every few weeks with dishes that are creative and prepared perfectly. The atmosphere and food was great, a bit spendy though. Our server was attentive as well. So why the three stars? When the head chef comes by your table and asks "how is everything" and then criticizes your answer, that is not acceptable. We had 5 in our party and requested a type of 'family style' dining approach. When requested to have the steak and lobster simply sliced, our waiter said absolutely! When it was served whole, we were disappointed. We were honest and polite with the Head chef's question and he was extremely rude back to us, stating they are too busy to slice a steak or lobster in the kitchen, and that was beyond their capabilities. We continued to tip 20% to our waiter; but with a bill & tip of over $750 for 5 people, I would have expected more from their head chef. For fine dining with a courteous staff, I'd recommend dining elsewhere. read more

We chose the nightly chef's special for two which was divine. Rack of lamb, grouper, shrimp, brocollini and a wonderful orzo with calamata olives. Had carne cruda. Thick raw beef not like carpaccio. OK but not something I would have again. Wife had veal Marsala and enjoyed it. I had linguini with clams expecting li gaining with clams. A thick heavy cheese sauce making the clams tasteless. More like fettuccine than linguini but the pasta itself was good. Do not get if you know what clam sauce is and expect that. Bread was good. In a fine dining Italian restaurant I would have expected a spoon for pasta, fresh grated Parmesan, and fresh black pepper offered without having to ask for each, but had to request. With a bottle of Silver Oak and tip we tabbed out for two at just over $310 with tip. The cannoli's were horrible. Rock hard shell, flanked by 2 brown rotted strawberries, and filled with something that tasted like shaving cream. Try any other dessert. If you have ever had cannoli in Boston you won't recognize these things. On the whole, average. Far better places in Key West. Price was the object. Service was reasonable considering they were only half full at the time. Food is below standard for the level they are trying to project. Go to Louie's Back Yard, Hot Tin Roof, 915, and so on. read more
