Santiago's Bodega ended up being one of our favorite stops in Key West. It's an easy walk from Ridley House, and if we'd discovered it earlier in the trip, we definitely would have gone back more than once. In fact, happy hour is already on the list for our next visit. The sangria was so good that we may have lost track of how many glasses we had. The tapas format made it easy to try a variety of dishes, and everything we ordered was flavorful and well prepared. There wasn't a single plate that made us wish we'd ordered something else. What I liked most was how relaxed everything felt. We took our time, shared dishes, drank sangria, and enjoyed the afternoon without feeling rushed. Next time we're in Key West, Santiago's Bodega will absolutely be getting another visit. read more

I loved the tapas experience here at Santiago's Bodega. I tried beef carpaccio for the first time and it was pretty decent. The chicken skewers were great. You really can't go wrong with Sangria. The sangria wasn't as amazing as some others I tried in town but it was still 8.7/10. I loved that it came in a big wine glass. The patio seating was excellent. A friend in Fort Myers recommended Santiago's Bodega for dinner while we were in Key West. We really appreciate the referral! This is a casual, yet classy restaurant that specializes in small plates. It iis a great way to go when you are up for sharing and trying new foods. We started with a red sangria, a sparkling sangria, iced tea and water. I can personally vouch for the red sparkling sangria. It was not too sweet, refreshing and just plain delicious. For our small plates selection, we chose: a Mediterranean salad (large is good for 3-4 people, crisp and tart), beef carpaaccio (tasty but not the best ever), yellowfin cervecci (it seemed like there was a touch too much lime, otherwise good), Roman meatballs with a small taste of spaghetti and sauce (this was one of our favorites, very moist on the inside and flavorful) and the short ribs (our other favorite (we loved the sauce and the meat was super tender). The bill came to $85 per couple, which isn't too bad. We were full and totally enjoyed the experience. Plus our waiter was friendly and efficient. Fabulous restaurant serving delicious tapas and also enjoyed a fresh salad. Dining area feels intimate and secluded. Tables felt a tad bit crowded together and so felt encouraged not to linger. Just had dinner at Santiago's tonight. We didn't have reservations so we were seated at the bar. Bartender was attentive, friendly and gave superb service. The food was excellent. My husband and I went for happy hour and sat at the bar. We were very disappointed in the attention that we got from the bar staff when we're were ready to place our order. They almost made us feel like they didn't want to be bothered. We were finally able to get someone to take our order and I had a prickly pear margarita and my husband had an old fashion. There are some good dishes on this menu like the saganki and wedge salad. I think the yelp hype raised my expectations and they were just not met. I came in solo for a leisurely tapas-style meal and experienced both highs and a few missteps, but overall it was a memorable visit. The beef tenderloin (medium rare) arrived beautifully plated, topped with a bleu cheese butter crust. While the interior was cooked well, the outside was overdone, and the topping was far too salty for my taste. It overshadowed the flavor of the beef, which was a letdown for such a premium item. The smoked salmon plate brought things back on track. The salmon was delicate and flavorful, served with crostini, capers, red onions, lemon, and herbed crème fraîche. Clean, balanced, and refreshing. What truly elevated the experience was the Bread Pudding ($11). Made with buttery croissants, smothered in caramel bourbon glaze, and served with vanilla bean ice cream and blueberries, this dessert was absolutely outstanding. Rich, gooey, and indulgent--easily a 10/10 and one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Service was kind and attentive, and the ambiance was relaxed but polished. Final Take: A few seasoning and execution issues kept it from being perfect, but the dessert alone pushed the experience into solid 3-star territory. Updating my review of Santiago's Bodega. Everything I commented 2 years ago is still accurate. But I need to also comment how amazing the ribs are, and the rack of Lamb. The lamb is sooo tender and flavorful, and its charcoal crunchy exterior is just perfect. Lastly, the Croquettas are becoming another favorite of mine, you get 2 huge croquettes and a delicious cream cheese & chive dipping sauce. Love this place! Wow! What a meal! First, the service was perfect. Our server Julia was great at giving us tips on what to order, which helped guide us, since the whole menu looked fantastic. Some highlights: Croquettes are delicious Octopus (which was a special) was cooked perfectly and wasn't chewy at all! Bruschetta was excellent! The crostini was super thin creating a great crunch and the basil was super bright! Crushed lamb chops were amazing Ceviche was great... cut in larger pieces with pineapple, avocado and red onion! Crawfish was bland and unremarkable. The wedge was good but def not the best I've had. The pitcher of sangria tasked like watered down white wine with diced apples and the pitcher amounted to two full wine glasses so not so much of a bargain.
