Everything about this place was excellent! We went on Christmas Eve...busy but handled very well by all. The hostesses were very sweet and accommodating with our toddler as we waited for our son to arrive separately. In the meantime, the bartender suggested and made some custom drinks for our party that were delicious. Our dinner and server was outstanding for our party of 6. Our server was super helpful in recommendations for our non-seafood eaters and carefully accommodated a shellfish allergy. I ordered the 1/2# lobster tail with mushroom risotto to share with my hubs and it was fabulous...like Hell's Kitchen fabulous. All was spot on. Been here twice now. I don't usually think to go to hotels for a good meal. The happy hour here from 5-7 is pretty good. Drinks are buy one, get one free. And the happy hour appetizers are tasty. I've been here for dinner as well, though I'd highly recommend just sitting at the bar, having a couple of drinks and listening to their live entertainment. We were staying in a hotel directly across the street so we came in for cocktail hour before dinner. Based on the reviews, I was expecting it to be fantastic. It ended up being just ok for us. The hostess told us there were no seats, but I saw a small table for two by the bar and she said oh right, you can sit there. Took forever for a server to come to our table. We ordered the filthy dirty martini and an espresso martini. My martini was average, wasn't extra dirty as advertised, and my son said his espresso martini tasted like pure alcohol. We ordered two appetizers, the naked wings, and the pork belly. The wings were ok but dry. The pork belly was very good. Based on the drinks and the appetizers, we left and went elsewhere for dinner. We had the most fabulous meal at this establishment. Stayin at the Beachside and just wanted to stay in the complex for a dinner. The best service, our waiter was named Hunter. Had dinner on Mother's Day. Hubby had a smoked old fashioned and I had red wine. We ordered appetizers; naked chicken wings and blistered shishito peppers. Both were very tasty. We originally were going to just do tappas but they were not serving those that evening so hubby had the tavern burger and I had the margarita pizza. We enjoyed both entrees. With that being said this was a very expensive meal for what we had. I wish we had gone on a night they were serving the happy hour tappas with drinks and probably would have been happier. We recently stayed at the Beachside Resort, and Tavern N Town was one of the limited options in the area. While the restaurant is on the pricier side, it does offer a unique vibe--very dark and noticeably cold indoors, which some guests might really enjoy, though it wasn't quite our style. Beautiful restaurant. I showed up earlier than my reservation and sat at the bar and listened to the live music before I was seated. I loved the live music. The naked chicken wings were perfection. I had the scallops and my partner had the Wagyu filet mignon with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The creamed spinach was perfection. The only aspect I did not like were the desserts. I had the hazelnut panna cotta and the chocolate cake and both were were bitter and off tasting. I wish there was like a nice chocolate chip cookie or milk chocolate dessert. 5 stars though. Happy hour total lie advertisements all say by one drink get one, any drink. My partner orders a woodford old fashion I order a woodford Manhattan, I don't like the fruit in my drink. My partner got thier BOGO, I was charged for each of mine with an upcharge for woodford. Extremely busy on Christmas Eve but the staff did their best to provide good service. We walked in without reservations and managed to grab a seat by the bar. We came in just to grab dessert, and the key lime bar was a solid choice. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy and I liked that they paired it with ice cream to balance with the pie. Stopped into Tavern n Town for Happy Hour while in Key West. It is attached to the Beachfront Residences hotel but open the public. Note for patrons: happy hour food is only good in the bar, so do not let them seat you! Bar area is a bar feel. Restaurant dining is upscale casual with white linen. Happy Hour menu contains a list of $7 items. George was our bartender and he was legit - guy had major talent working the bar considering the size of the crowd the entire night we were there. We opted for the bang bang shrimp, asian sticky ribs, and salmon bites. Pictures included for the review - perspective is tough. Note for the pics that the serving dishes are very small - think of a roll plate. So, your $7 portion is essentially a few bites. That being said, everything we had was good. Props to the Asian sticky ribs - meat was falling off the toothpick and the sauce was very good. Salmon bites were good. Bang Bang shrimp was mildly disappointing, lacking the usual "kick" of a bang bang dish. Cocktails were good with generous pours. Special props to the southern chocolate cake, ordered by suggestion of George. Now that was a legit delicious dessert, served with bourbon ice cream. Overall, we had a pleasant visit in the bar for happy hour. Slightly disappointed in the tiny portions, but food was good enough. George was great. I'd say worth a happy hour stop! We dined at Tavern N Town during our stay at the hotel property that it's located it. It appears to be a very upscale establishment based on the decor and the ambiance when you first enter. However if you're a diner link myself then the food and drink selection is what actually counts the most during dinner. I ordered the wings as an appetizer which were delicious. I also ordered the coco-Jitt which is rendition of a coco nut mojito. It was good. I took a chance on the shrimp cocktail and lobster ceviche which was light and refreshing but good. We ended up only ordering 2 drinks and 2 appetizers because unfortunately the menu was extremely limited almost like one of those 1 page preselected menus that you get when you go to a dining establishment for a private event or party which was my only con. They definitely need way more menu options. Overall our experience was good. We ended up spending about $105.00 for two drink and two appetizers though so they're a bit on the pricey side for what you actually get! read more

Just wow. The interior of Tavern N Town is unlike anywhere else we went in the keys. It's sophisticated but not pretentious. A sleek bar greets you on the way in and further down it's fun to watch the open kitchen. We were only there to got their key lime pie to go, but I wish I had been hungrier because everything looked amazing. The key lime pie was absolutely incredible. It had dollops of toasted marshmallow-y meringue. I'm assuming it was an Italian meringue, since it was shiny. The filling was creamy and tart. Just exquisite. And the graham cracker crust had a nice honey flavor. We tried a bunch of key lime pie on our vacation in the keys, and this one was my favorite. Unfortunately my vacation is over, but I hope to come back here soon! read more

The BEST prime rib in town! The portion was so generouse we were eating from it for days! Had my 50th birthday dinner there and it was amazing. He has eaten there many times before and suggested it for my birthday because it was special. Everything was amazing. The ambiance was wonderful - seemed formal but was not. When approaching the restaurant I almost thought they'd turn us away because of how fancy the restaurant seemed but all of the patrons were dressed Key west casual so I fit right in. The food, service and ambiance does warrant an attire that goes in more in line with it but I'm glad I was able to venture from my room in flip flops to have some of the best food I've had in a long time! Every item was perfectly balanced and cooked. Not pictured was our entree that was a 10oz Wagyu steak with mashed potatoes. We stayed at the hotel and gave this restaurant two tries. On a positive note, the food was good and the restaurant itself is lovely. But, we didn't know it was a piano bar and the first night, a man was playing and it was so loud everyone was screaming at each other over the loud Christmas music to be heard. We ate fast and left. Went back the second night and the pianist was joined by a singer. No one could hear each other, but it got especially weird when a group of men walked in and the singer loudly called one of them a dollar store drag queen. The stranger next to me and I looked at each other as if we'd misheard. The man laughed it off and said he knew the singer, but the rest of us didn't and her comedic additions made the entire place feel even more uncool. Maybe this place caters to more of a local crowd, but it falls short of being an upscale restaurant catering to resort stayers. If you're going to pay $50+ for an entree, you want to be able to talk to the people you're with and this is not the place to do that. read more
