We were tired of the typical KW places and stumbled upon The Cafe while riding around looking for a place to eat. The waiter gave us perfect suggestions when ordering. My husband got a beet kombucha and I got a 1/2 pitcher of watermelon sangria to start. We loved both. The sangria was light, refreshing and not too sweet. (However, don't get this if you are looking for a heavy dose of alcohol). Next, at the server's suggestion, we had the red Thai curry noodle bowl with soba noodles and mahi. It was a really nice combo of fresh crunchy veggies, a perfectly seasoned fish filet, and soba noodles in a slightly spicy noodle base. The curried butternut squash was my personal favorite - the squash was stuffed with a quinoa and chickpea mixture and served on a bed of garlicky wilted spinach. Yummy! Nice break from the heat with an island vibe. Many vegan options, although we were very disappointed they were out of their widely touted vegan key lime pie. The vegetable rolls were good. Not a lot of beer options. Service was fast, tho not overly friendly. Would give it another try and get there earlier for pie. read more

I just left this establishment in which I found a roach on the wall next to me ( the one in the picture ) Another crawled on my leg, and another was on OUR table in between me and my cousin. This has nothing to do with their food but the higiene of the establishment. Worst part is server said oh that's weird I'm sorry, and walked back into the kitchen. I didn't even make a big deal with the first one but when I got two more in a matter of 4 mins come on. This is funny to share... I'm writing this review while eating at this restaurant. I will need to make new words in English to really explain how ridiculously delicious their food is. Super fresh veggies, freshly cooked with some special spice blend with tofu. Muaaaaaaaaah Take all of my money because all I care about it best food experience. Decided to stop here on a whim. It is a cute, place with friendly staff. They have loads of healthy options to select from their menu. We had lattes, and the breakfast wrap with mushrooms and pico de gallo. It was great. They were out of one or two items, but what they did have was good. read more

The food was great but the female server was very rude. It was our first time visiting. When we were ordering, we asked common questions and she responded with attitude as if we knew the answers. We told her we've had one particular alcoholic drink without alcohol before, and she said that was "not normal." She ran out and screamed that the tip was not included when we did not feel she deserved the tip. We told her she was being rude to us and she had a shocked face. We are never going back here again. The food here is good we have eaten here a couple times before. However the service is deplorable. Today, we sat down for lunch (the restaurant was about half empty), was given menus and water, and waited for about 20 minutes and no one took our order. The 2 waitresses working the dining room passed us several times and would not acknowledge us. Finally after one of them started replacing knives and forks at an empty bar seat we walked out. We stopped at the Cage for breakfast after a visit to the key west cemetery. It's a vegan and vegetarian restaurant that is out of this world! It was delicious. Their coffee is from the Cuban Queen Coffee across the street and was super. I had the most deliicious tofu scramble ever! A little taste of chili and there were breakfast potato's and toast. My sister had a pita with hummus and avocado and scrambled egg. She also picked up a vegan carrot cake which we later are for lunch on the beach. Since it was Valentine's Day, we needed to start the day right! Thankfully, there was seating when we arrived since I called ahead of time and was told they don't take reservations. We sat inside at first but our toddler was being loud (and it was really warm inside) so we moved outside; after starting with the Vegan Key Lime Pie. That's probably the best way to start a meal! I wanted to be sure I had room to enjoy it, after all. For my meal, I was debating on the Vegan Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich or the Philly but after looking in my photos, I'd had both in the past so I wanted to try something new. I also wanted something a little lighter, so I ordered the Blackened Tofu Salad and subbed the Vegan Caesar Dressing, which was a good choice. One of the best salads I've had in a long time! I also ordered the Pineapple Carrot Juice for my son but ended up drinking most of it myself because it was that good. After eating, we decided we couldn't leave without trying the Vegan Red Velvet Cake too, since it's Valentine's Day. As far as the food, it was made with quality ingredients and well prepared with the creativity in mind. This place is amazing!!! I love the eclectic decor and how cozy this place is. They have a whole bunch of local brews of beer on tap. My dad tried two different kinds and he liked both. They also have a large selection of speciality infused waters and smoothies. I chose the Mahi Mahi Sandwich and it was delicious! It came with a great chickpea salad and all the ingredients were fresh. My mom chose the salad with mushrooms and it was a huge portion. She really enjoyed the food. They do serve breakfast until 4pm so the kids chose something simple- scrambled eggs. They cleaned their plate though, so it must have been good. The staff was very nice, attentive and laid back. Great little breakfast spot. Excellent coffee and a wide selection of breakfast options. For those that may be opposed they are vegan/ pescatarian friendly so the "meat" may not be what you think. My only negative was- if you're going to put cilantro on stuff let people know. For some of us with the gene (10% of the population) it tastes like soap. We would prefer a warning. Came here by accident but it was a wonderful mistake. We were actually wanting to eat at the cafe next door, but when we sat down and looked at the menu, we decided to stay and try our mistake out. It truly ended up being a delicious vegetarian mistake. We ordered the eggrolls, the soy-ginger garlic soba noodles and the grilled Portobello sandwich. The egg rolls were AMAZING. I could order them as a meal. the noodles were good, but not my favorite. I make a lot of noodle dish and it could use a couple other seasonings. The Portobello sandwich was delicious, but the sweet potato fries could use some help. We watched everyone around us order drinks and although we were tempted, we decided not to. It appears this cafe makes amazing drinks.
