An ok restaurant. The staff was a bit rude and pretentious. When we checked in for our indoor 8:30 pm reservation at 8:25 pm, the host asked us to sit outside at one of their street side tables. When I confirmed with him that our reservation was for indoors, he said, "Then I guess you'll have to wait then" and walked away. Not the most pleasant start to our dinner. Our waiter was very nice and pleasant. I had the lobster bisque which in their description notes "whole lobster". It was creamy and had the subtle hint of lobster but otherwise was lacking in flavor and lobster. What I love about lobster bisque is finding those small chunks of lobster with each spoonful, but their version does not have any. The Hogfish Snapper Sole (their most popular dish) was tasty. I liked the lightly breaded crunch on the outside with the delicate flaky fish on the inside. I would say that the snapper at Blue Heaven was much better and more memorable though. About the venue, most of the tables is outdoor in a patio area right outside of the host, check in area. It was clean and romantic. Now, the bathrooms on the other hand were kind of disgusting. The best meal of our honeymoon. Our server's name was Patrycja. She was attentive, she listened, and she made recommendations and she was right! 100% try the hogfish, the tune steak, and the duck. The pasta dish... too much pasta. This was amazing French-style food. Probably the best dessert of our trip, too. We did the sampler, so we were able to try the berries, key lime pie, and crème brulee. We ate inside because it was the most humid night of the trip. Small inside eatery; only 6 tables. I really wanted to like this place based on all the 5 star reviews. I came here with my daughter for dinner. No full bar just wine and beer. We were seated on a bench and there was not 6 feet between tables. The place was packed. It cost $15 for a meh Pinot Grigio. They put down kind of doughy French bread with Hummus. I have never been to a French restaurant that used hummus in place of butter. My daughter got the lobster bisque as an appetizer. I got the escargot. The lobster bisque was very odd. It was very grainy (I since found out they didn't stir in the flour properly) and didn't taste anything like it was described on the menu. It was the same with the escargot. No garlic in the garlic butter, but lots of rosemary. I do not like rosemary. Should have sent both back. My daughter ordered the 3 cheese plate for her main course. They didn't ask which cheeses she wanted and gave her blue cheese which she doesn't eat. I ordered the hogfish. Loved the sauce, but the fish was mushy. I have to agree with another poster. I just don't like the food so far in Key West. It is so expensive and not very good. This is not a French restaurant like any I've been to. They do rush you. In and out in 30 minutes. Stumbled upon this gem while on vacation in Key West. So glad because everything we had was delicious! The Hogfish is the star at Cafe Sole. It was like no other fish I have ever eaten: extremely tender, melt in your mouth goodness. You MUST try it. We finished with their Key Lime Pie and it was the BEST IN KEY WEST. We made it our mission to try as many as possible, and this one WINS! It is not the typical firm cheesecake you get elsewhere, it is softer and more of a creamy texture with the perfect amount of sweetness. I will be back for more. read more

New owners, liquor bar opened. We have been stopping in to get wraps on our way home from work around 7:30 PM for many many years before the new owner took over and has wraps only at lunch. Invited me to come at lunch anytime. This restaurant is beside my house and we travel from the Space coast to Miami for work and my wife is a nurse and works 12 hour shifts. I went in and asked him about it, and he laughed at me at the bar. There was only a few patrons there pages there, mind you the place only holds about 22 people. What he missed out on is every time I pick up food there to go I see two or three of my neighbors doing the same and his liquor bar will not support his greed. There are about three places in that Plaza that draw from his new business. read more

If there were any complaints it would be the metal chairs are too hard to sit on (but you can request a pillow) and the dining is outdoor so it is a tad to warm in the summer months to be enjoyable. read more

It's hard to understand the restaurant I ate and the reviews on here. The Caesar's salad was soggy like the bagged lettuce it was served out of was past its expiration date. The bread was like give us standard Sysco bread off the truck. The entree tasted like good airplane food in that it tasted like it had been prepared hours ago the plate was covered with aluminum foil and reheated. I can't be sure of this, but if I had to beat that's where my money's going and speaking of money all of this sub par experience was not sub priced. Recommend by our cousin and did not disappoint. Their signature dish is the hog snapped sole and it was delicious. If you haven't had this you must try it. My hubs does not like all fish and he loved it. Can't even remember the sides much they were very tasty as well. Rice, beans, carrots and potatoes, I know a lot right but just small portions so not overwhelming and complimented the fish nicely. Beer and wine only but a nice selection of both. My husband and I went for dinner. Cafe Sole has an advertised 30% off entree special. Come to find out upon receiving our bill that the original prices have been inflated to offset the 30% discount. The regular menu has Duck A'L' orange at $27. But, our paper menu had it priced at $42. Even after the 30% discount we ended up paying $29.40, which is more than the regular price. Also our Inframs salad, which we paid $15 dollars for is regularly $12! In sum, they are false advertising. The food was good. That is not my complaint. This was a great find on the island of Key West. So romantic. Great meal and ambiance. Much much different then the fast pace of Duval St.

I chose a gazpacho soup that was so strong with garlic that it was inedible. My tongue was burnt for the rest of the meal. It wasn't particularly cold. I chose a hot mushroom soup to replace it. The pepper that was ground into it was not ground enough and at first I found myself chewing it, then just picked out the pieces of unground pepper. The soup was way too spiced. I also chose the beef carpaccio which was in very small pieces, like shards, and was not fresh. It was not a bright red. The Asiago cheese didn't go well with it. Parmesan would be much better. The greens were not fresh and in too small an amount For dessert I tried the Key lime pie, which was very different that I had had before. I didn't like the almond-flavored whipped cream and the meringue replacement was crunchy with sugar. ICK! The restaurant seating was too close. There was no air conditioning on the humid evening. I had the Yellowtail Snapper sautéed and served with mango salsa, my foodie buddy had the Hog-Snapper both came with potatoes, rice&beans, shaved carrots , tomato basil as sides . Cafe Sole is a Beautiful restaurant located on a quiet corner in a residential part of Key West. The dining room has a nice dimly lit atmosphere and is a perfect setting for a romantic date night. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and will take good care of you. The food is fine dining with a French flair. If they have it in season have the Stone Crabs. They crack it open so well that you don't have to do much of the fighting to get your crab meat. The Mushroom Soup and the Clams are also great starters. I highly recommend the Hogfish as a entree. It's a local specialty. The fish is light, flaky and has a hint of sweetness. It was perfectly cooked. The Grilled Shrimp was also delicious and also a local specialty Key West "pinks". We kind of randomly happened upon Cafe Sole as we stayed very close by and it ended up not only being the best meal of our stay in the Keys, it was literally the best meal we've had in a few years, period. Start to finish, the food was exquisite. The hogfish and grouper were absolute perfection. The wine list is outstanding and even the key lime pie was the most subtle and best of any we tried in the Keys. The seating is cozy- we met lovely fellow diners including some locals who could not have been more welcoming and charming. Service was excellent. Highly recommended. read more

This is a beautiful and charming place to eat. We took our kids here one time and the staff went in the back and made a little box of random things for them to explore and keep the occupied. We came here on our last night in Key West. We wanted to eat i doors however, we were told that all of the indoor tables were already reserved. We saw that there were about 5 tables inside. So we sat outside. It was so hot and humid even with the fans running. We started with the artichoke. This was very good and flavorful. For our main courses, our waiter suggested the hogfish snapper and said it was their "signature" dish. He was not lying. This was delicious and buttery and had a mild flavor. Nothing that I ate here was that good, but my mom enjoyed her dish more than I enjoyed mine. The artichoke had good flavor (can't go wrong with butter and garlic) but I did t realize all you can do w artichoke is literally suck on the 5% of the leaf that is edible LOL. I blame myself for never having eaten a real un-canned artichoke before and not knowing what to expect. The hog snapper was okay. The flavor of the sides were... not enjoyable to me. While I wouldn't get it again, I think people should try it because it's "a thing". My mom enjoyed her seafood risotto. We were both very disappointed in the key lime pie. Oh I almost forgot, the French onion soup was salty and SO FREAKIN CHEESY. And not in a good way.
