My breakfast: fruit scrambled eggs and gluten free French toast yum!
Karen A.

We love this wonderful secret, shhhh! Don't tell anyone! Actually all the locals know. When you pull up to a place with police cars or fire engines (on break, of course)-you know you have come to the right place! Such a family feel!. Sassy, the waitress, is fabulous and all of her name! There is a room of pinball machines for entertainment. I heard they have a membership. But the best part is the delicious home cooking! Cooked exactly how you ask and with a kitchen full of gluten they have never made me sick. They know how to cook without cross contamination, but they can't promise. I can't get gluten free French toast hardly anywhere else! So good! Yum! The glutenous food looks delicious and my hubby and sisters affirm that it tastes as good as it looks! Don't miss this wonderful hideaway!!

Very nice cafe! Everything was great - food, service and atmosphere. Servers were extremely friendly and welcoming, place was very clean, and food tasted great. I highly recommend you try this place if you haven't tried it yet. Looks like a lot of locals come here which is not surprising. I will definitely be back.

Spinach omelette with fruit

Another amazing meal at Cafe One. My visit was 11/25/23. Still amazing food and service! The place was packed Saturday around noon. We opted to sit outside where it was slightly drizzling but still had cover. I had O.G. Sandwich with sourdough bread and potatoes. So much food I took half the sandwich home. My mom had spinach and cheese omelette and swapped for fruit. The coffee still freaking wonderful as always. Sassy and her crew still the best around. I wished I lived closer.

The stacker

When you think about classic diners, this is the exact place you think about. The menu has every item you would expect with a few surprises in my opinion like a sourdough French toast that I will be back for next time. Upon my first visit, I could tell this place is a staple for the people in the area. The servers knew the patrons by name and they all ordered by saying "I'll have my usual". Onto the food, it was extremely comforting. I got the stacker which is two eggs stacked on sausage Patties stacked on biscuits and gravy which is all on top of a bed of crispy has browns. The gravy is what stood out to me most on this dish. Very flavorful. My one think was the biscuits were a little undercooked for my liking. I found it to be a slight play dough feel in my mouth. Everything else though was great. Will be back to try more!

My usual breakfast. Perfect

Nice little mom and pop place on us 1. When got there it was packed and you could tell there was a lot of regulars. Table across from me had mimosas. I ordered my usual breakfast and came out perfect. Eggs nice and hot and not broken. Marbled rye toast. My friend had the biscuits and gravy special. Gravy nice and thick over flaky biscuits crispy bacon and eggs scrambled exactly the way she liked them It is a good place for breakfast and lunch. Look for it along us 1 heading into Daytona.

Service - possibly too much! :-) We happened to be seated at the end of the bar and every time a server passed us, they checked on us, tried to collect servingware (some of which was awaiting use) and asked if we needed anything. They were friendly and welcoming, not pushy. Tip: We heard a server describing flights to a nearby table. We had not been told of these. There was a $12 mystery flight with either 3 reds or 3 whites. There was a premium 3 taste red flight at $18. I am using the word taste loosely here as we were advised each taste in the flight is 1/2 glass. Everyone was happy to let us taste any wines that were open. The premium flight included a higher end version of the wine we got by the bottle (Mendoza Malbec) which the proprietress proactively offered us. Judging by that alone, the premium flight would have been worth the price. All wines by the glass were $7 or $15. On to the food and menu: The menu is a nice size and has offerings that would appeal to many palates and appetites. We tried the Crab Remick and the Grazing Board MKT ($20). We were there a year ago when the transition from "Better Days" to the "vine" was still in process. I liked the old menu a little better, but that's a matter of taste. The crab cakes and pasta choices are not on the menu now. (There is mac and cheese) For a scratch kitchen it is strange to me that they don't have any bread. In fact, I question whether they make the crostini. These crostini are small, cracker-sized, and have garlic flavoring. The actual crackers are clearly not made in house (see my photo). I looked at the photo of the French onion soup to see what bread is in there and I could not tell. But here is the thing, coming from Northern CA, having bread, preferably sourdough, to go with your cheese and wine is a key part of the experience for me. I think the Bistro is missing a couple big opportunities here. The first is to offer fresh bread with both the wine tasting menu and the brunch. And the other one is to get SF sourdough starter and use that for a unique and special attraction. Last time we were here, we got the meatball sliders and we really liked those. BTW, they offer tablets that have the menu, including photos, and wines, if you like to access the information that way.

This morning my husband and I were going out for breakfast, I suggested Heffer's Kountry Cafe,…read morereviews were good and we like trying new places. When we walked in, we were told to sit anywhere, it was only 40° this morning, so we decided to sit at a table away from the door. We were greeted and the young man was friendly. My husband had coffee and I had ice water. I did notice that if was loud inside as far as people talking loudly across the dining room from tables. Our server took our order my husband ordered 2 eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits with bacon. I ordered an egg over easy with hash browns, 2 sausage links and wheat toast. Our food was served quickly and we thought everything was going good. But then a SUV pulls up outside and apparently Tuesday morning is when they get their delivery. They propped open the door with all the cold air coming in, everyone except the cook that was working there stopped what they were doing and started to unloaded their order. Never once were we asked if we needed anything. My husband was almost hit in the back of his head with a big box of snack size Lays potato chips. Honestly, that was very unprofessional if they do this every Tuesday morning, they are only opened until 2 PM. They have all afternoon to have an order delivered or come in early before the restaurant opens to have it delivered. You do not go back-and-forth through a restaurant ignoring your customers because you have a delivery. Besides that... aren't most deliveries brought in through the back door not the front. We waited for our check but never came so we stood at the register until we could pay our bill. The restaurant was nicely decorated for St. Patrick's Day but maybe be more considerate of your customers.

There's not a ton of space, which I'm sure makes the rush brunch worse. Facilities were to clean and well maintained, well decorated as well. Our server Ashley was friendly and great. The food was delicious! My fiance and I both got veggie omelettes, he was able to add bacon to his and sub the potatoes for a fruit cup. We got an English muffin and wheat toast. Their wheat toast was massive and hearty, with seeds on the crust. I loved it! Veggie omelettes are always a good test of a chefs skills as they can be super wet from the high water content in veggies. Ours were cooked perfectly, no soppy mess and the veggies tasted crisp and fresh. I don't know if this is a downside, but the menu claimed the omelettes were 4 eggs, but it sure felt like 6 or 7! It was massive! The fruit cup didn't have a bunch of copout fruit in it, it came with really fresh strawberries, bananas and blackberries along with cantaloupe and pineapple. The only truly negative thing I noticed was the jam came in a small plastic cup and when I tasted the jam, it tasted like the plastic, so I couldn't eat it. Overall this is a great breakfast spot that rivals the sitting veterans on the area (first watch, kekes). Give it a go, but be wary of busy rush hours!

We walked into this cozy little establishment and were welcomed immediately. The service was wonderful and the owner and her daughter made it a point to make us feel at home. My husband ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice that was the sweetest I've ever tasted. He went traditional with eggs, toast and bacon which were all cooked to perfection and I had the baked avocado which was hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I'm a savory girl and try to eat healthy when possible so this was perfect for me. The baked avocado was stuffed with eggs, cheese, and crispy bacon on top which was nestled on a bed of fresh crisp lettuce, tomato, green onion and a fresh tangy dressing that gave it the perfect balance of acid that it needed. Cutting into the avocado was my favorite part to get to that beautiful runny yolk. So many crepe choices too. I can't wait to go back next time we are here visiting to try something else!

I felt like I had to beg for the server to come check on the table. The server was very condescending when speaking to us. I've been to many family owned restaurants and I believe they need to strategize better with customer service based on the experience I had. Also, be aware it's 0.50 cents for ice in your drink.. which is absurd.

WOW, I was told that so many people tell them this. So, now you are going to know. The owners are Cheryl and Chris. I met Cheryl through a friend and that's when she told me about her place. Lovely place. Doesn't look big from the outside but it is a lot bigger to hold many groups of six ? Or more? The servers are so sweet and friendly. I talked with Nina (and I feel bad I didn't ask the other server's name) But, they worked well together with the kitchen. She was busy as I saw her attending to tables outside but it felt like she did the bare minimum. She took our order, refilled our drinks, and assisted us in paying our bill. Food didn't take long to come out and almost every table was full with a large mob waiting inside and outside of the restaurant. I enjoyed the food although it could have been hotter. Both of our meals were warm so we think it could have been sitting for a while in the kitchen before we were served. I liked the eggs Benedict as the meal had a nice texture overall and the hollandaise sauce was tasty. Potatoes were crispy and I found the seasoning to be perfect. They need smaller plates because I felt like the cost of the meal was more than what it was actually worth. You can see in the picture that my meal appears small because the plate is so big. I ate it all so fast and I was actually still hungry at the end. I didn't know my meal came with some fruit so that was a nice touch. Our server did try to upsell us a couple times offering me a side of toast or some fritters for the table when we sat. It's a decent place to stop at in town. It's very casual and gives diner vibes with the semi sticky menus.
