My husband and I stopped in for breakfast while in Daytona for the holidays. While it was pretty busy, we seated quickly. You can tell this is a place love by locals as the waiters and a lot of the patrons interacted on a first name basis. To me, that's always a good sign that the food will be good if the locals are here and that held true in this case.I ordered my go to breakfast, which is corn beef hash. It was absolutely delicious. Probably one of the top three that I've had. The service was quick and our server was very friendly. Me and my husband enjoyed our breakfast and would definitely come back when in the area.

Eggs, blueberry pancakes and home fries. Yum!

Had the blueberry pancakes and the home fries. Great seasoning on the fries and well cooked pancakes. Service was delightful, made me feel right at home.

Yummy eggs over easy, sausage and three small pancakes !

I LOVE FLAPJACKS !!!! I've been coming here for about three years now ! Perfect mom and pop breakfast diner, definitely a NEIGHBORHOOD FAVORITE! On the weekends they do sometimes have a wait time, but it's never over 15 min but definitely worth THE WAIT! I probably eat here once a month HAHA, I'm usually on the go and running late LOL ! I call about 10 minutes before I the leave my home order a bacon egg and cheese pick it up and eat it on the road :) It's never a problem ordering on the phone & never a problem on pick up. It's always smooth sailing. The restaurant is CASH ONLY, and basically feels like mom is cooking breakfast such a HOMEY COMFORTABLE environment! The owners, the servers, the cooks everyone is friendly, helpful, & happy there's never a bad day in flapjacks! Everything on the menu taste like HOME, my favorite item is the BACON EGG & CHEESE with lettuce tomato Mayo in a bagel :)

Kielbasa sausage and eggs, a blueberry pancake, cheesy grits and toast...

I've been continuing to explore the area which I will soon call home, and I was looking for another breakfast spot. One of my colleagues recommended this one, and even though I was staying in Daytona Beach, I took the time and the short drive to find it. What a nice little find. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew this was a place where the locals frequent as many guests were greeted warmly by the staff... which was super friendly by the way, always checking to make sure everything was right, answering questions about the menu items, being genuinely attentive and warm. I thought I would try a little sample of some things so I ordered the special which was kielbasa sausage with eggs and toast. I was able to get a small blueberry pancake as my colleague had noted their pancakes were "really good." I'd been warned the pancakes were dinner plate-sized but the waitress said she could order it smaller. I also ordered some cheesy grits to sample those. And, the food was ok. The kielbasa was tasty with a crunchy sear from the griddle. The over medium eggs were cooked properly. My pancake was full of berries, but wasn't the "wow best I've ever had" which my friend had exclaimed. Maybe it's because I ordered the blueberry ones? And the grits were plain grits with a slice of cheese melted on top. I was lacking a bit of flavor in the grits, some salt or seasoning and some creaminess to go along with the cheese which I had hoped might be blended in. This would have been a three star because of the food, but the staff pushed it up to a four star. I will probably come back and try it again... maybe something different from the menu? Or try their home fries instead of the grits. Regardless, this is a great community breakfast stop, and I'm glad a friend recommended it.

The Pink Flamingo was delicious. The biggest surprise for us was the cinnamon roll kitchen where bakers are making fresh cinnamon rolls in front of you and you can eat as many as you like! The beauty of this restaurant is that the "fish camp" fixins' are on an all-you-can-eat buffet. But your entree is made to order, fresh for you! Best of both worlds! We had 8 in our party and were delighted to know that it takes 12 for the gratuity to be automatic. That was not an issue, though. Our first server "cousin Richard" was excellent, but then he got pulled away and "cousin Bailey" took care of us. Both were delightfully friendly and very attentive. In our group we had chicken tenders, which I sampled and were some of the best I've ever had. We had shark and alligator appetizers. They were both awesome. We had sautéed shrimp and sautéed scallops. Both were swimming in a delicious buttery garlic sauce and cooked to perfection. One had meatloaf and said it was great! One had salmon. And a couple of people had the crab cakes which they also said were delicious. The sides were also good, and the "fish camp" sides were awesome. I want to especially comment on the cheese grits. As a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl raised in the south) and a devout grits snob, I give my wholehearted double thumbs-up on the grits. I thought my grandson was going to make himself sick eating so much! Final word, the cinnamon rolls were AMAZING!! Warm out of the oven and covered with sugary sauce.

He messed up the order of a table next to us twice and the guy didn't eat while his entire family ate their meals. Not sure if he was new or just having a very bad day. My wife got sick halfway through our appetizer meal and I promptly told him I needed 2 boxes and the check as soon as he brought our main dish... I waited at least 30 minutes until he came back with the check and boxes, then he left again to correct the check for another 10-15. I wished he would have been a bit faster and more attentive since we were trying to leave in somewhat of a rush... I think maybe this place is just understaffed or we got a bad waiter. The catfish was still good the next day and the cinnamon rolls were AMAZING though!!

As we headed east through Port Orange, he spotted a couple of national chain restaurants and I cringed inside. But then we saw Houligan's, not knowing anything about this small local *chain*, and we both wanted to give it a try. Now that I know a bit of their 30-year legacy in this area, I'm happy with our choice. My only critique is that some of the menu prices weren't current. For example, adding a side salad to my Philly cheese steak was $4.99 on the menu but we were charged $5.99. That said, it was a good size salad & worth $6. Which leads me to digress about their ranch dressing... It was REALLY good. So good that I asked for an extra cup for my Philly cheese steak & Hubs' fries (99¢). Our server mentioned that their Ranch dressing is made in-house, and it definitely shows. I'm not often a Philly Cheesesteak gal but on this night I was craving one. When our server confirmed that I could have it sans peppers, onions & mushrooms, that sounded perfect! It was fantastic! And, YES, I dipped in that amazing Ranch dressing a few times. Not sure why I didn't opt for the French Dip, but I'll definitely consider that sandwich on another visit. I chose mashed potatoes as my side, and they were absolutely incredible. Hubs ordered a burger with mushrooms & loved it. We also split a side salad, which is how I discovered that Ranch dressing. IT WAS SO GOOD. Realistically, I'm not sure when we'll be able to visit another Houligan's but I hope we can. We do pop over to Daytona occasionally but usually on the way to Jacksonville or on the way home to Tampa - not really to eat. But now that we know about Houligan's, and hubs still wants to try their Wally Wings, we may plan a future route just so we can visit again.

First off, the salad base was a great spring mix of leafy greens with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, grated cheese. Everything was fresh and crispy. Their balsamic vinaigrette was very good. Next, let's talk about these Zingers. A very generous portion of them came with the salad order. They were so juicy and flavorful. They were a meal in and of themselves. I could have just eaten them and been totally satisfied. I had added some chicken wings because, why not? I ordered them tossed in garlic sauce, and they were also flavorful, hearty and well prepared. I'd never thought about ordering from Miller's Ale House in the past because I always thought of it as just another chain restaurant, but this order has me rethinking my next lunch order... because I would definitely order from them again.

Everything looked beautiful, like a perfectly styled set for a culinary disaster movie. The plates were clean, the garnish was precise--it was the visual equivalent of a lovely, non-threatening sunrise before a meteor strikes. But then, the eating began. My wife ordered the steak. After the first few bites, she offered a suspicious frown and declared, "This just doesn't seem right." I shrugged it off. Ignorance, as they say, is bliss. I was preoccupied with my Osso Buco. It tasted fine, actually! Quite lovely, a rich, savory broth wrapping around the tender veal. It was, perhaps, the perfect Trojan Horse. The true nature of the meal revealed itself the second we stepped through our own front door. It wasn't indigestion; it was a full-scale gastronomic betrayal. My wife was the first to fall, clutching her abdomen as if she'd swallowed a volcanic eruption. Her "very bad stomach" quickly escalated into a Category 5 hurricane. However, the universe saved its true masterpiece of chaos for me. The Osso Buco wasn't just fine; it was a pressurized biological weapon, timed to detonate precisely at the point of maximum inconvenience. I experienced the physical manifestation of the phrase "explosive diarrhea." This was not merely going to the bathroom--this was a tactical, hurried retreat that involved sounds that should only be heard in wartime documentaries. I'm currently filing a Missing Person Report for my large intestine. I have reliable reports that my colon, having achieved escape velocity, was last seen heading south on I-95, passing the Ft. Pierce exit at approximately 85 mph. If anyone sees a long, winding tube attempting to hitchhike to Miami, please inform it that its services are urgently required back north.
