As a Daytona native I've been coming to Pats for years. It use to be one of the locals best kept secrets but visitors have discovered this gem. No frills basic food, good breakfasts and lunch, they're only open from 7:00-2:00. Good service by employees who've been there just about as long as I e been eating there. I got the creamed chopped beef on home fries, hubby got a traditional eggs, grits, bacon, and toast breakfast. Pats Riverfront Cafe is located behind the Marina and we had a little bit of a confusing time temporarily finding it, but eventually we did. The inside is decorated in a very Floridian diner/cafe type of way with a lot of funny signs inside and such. The waitress was very polite and attentive. My husband ordered a bacon and cheese omelette and stated it was exactly what it seems like it would be. Bacon, cheese, eggs. So that was good. I ordered a Rueben and it was terrible, unfortunately. It was primarily sauerkraut with 2 slices of corned beef and very soggy bread. The beef was tough and very chewy as well so I guess it was a bit of a blessing there was barely any of it there. A Rueben is a corned beef sandwich with sauerkraut, not a sauerkraut sandwich with maybe some corned beef. Absolutely not worth its price. The fries were fresh and very typical, so they're a safe item to order and enjoy, but I would definitely recommend not wasting your time or money or mood on the Rueben sandwich. read more

WOW. What a great place we found for breakfast on the river. Little hard to find but glad we did. Both indoor and limited outdoor seating. It was 9:30 when we arrived and it was packed. Waited about 20 min to place order. Since it was nice out we elected to sit outdoors. I had a breakfast bowl. Very good. My wife pancakes and eggs with bacon. Also very good. Of course a mimosa too. Tasty food with a good variety to select from, without being an overwhelming amount of options on the menu. Portion sizes were perfect, I had two meal for the price of one! Service was polity, efficient, worked together smoothly, and we got our food quickly but also correctly! Coffee was hot and fresh, all wait staff was observant refilling drinks for all tables or getting items customers needed. My daughter and I felt very welcomed when having breakfast. It was our first time dinning there but you'd think we were regulars. You do have to have cash, the prices are very reasonable for todays' economy. Budget friendly, family feeling establishment. Everyone including the kitchen staff was warm and friendly to myself and my daughter interacting with us and greeting us. Decor is very rustic but is part of what makes it feel more modest and homey. Everything today is so flashy. Definitely a relaxing place to get a good bit to eat before hitting the beach or if you simple just want to be near a body of water. I had scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage patties, and wheat toast. Hubby had over easy eggs, grits, mahi-mahi, and rye toast. Overall, The style is what I eat when I am at Mom's house. Even the coffee was pretty darn good. My only real complaint is the mahi mahi was over cooked to the point it was inedible. When we mentioned it the response was "oh, that's too bad". While a decent enough place if I spend over $30 for breakfast I have an expectation it will all be edible. And as a side note : cash only with ATM on site so be prepared. read more

This place is really hard to rate. Usually it's pretty cut and dry. This place is so hard to find that you would NEVER stumble upon it. You have to want to find it. It's really close to our Florida condo and I'd heard about it, but sought it out yesterday around lunchtime. Before I go on, let me fess up here and now. I had one too many Long Island iced teas the prior evening, so my taste buds and mood were somewhat off. They seem to have a steady stream of local regulars here. It's basic mom and pop diner food. Very friendly servers! My husband won the ordering lotto with a simple, yet perfect BLT. I did not fare as well with my cheese steak, but the fries were great. Again, this could have something to do with my previous evening's consumption. The setting on the Halifax was really nice but the place was a little grungy, which I might appreciate more on another day. Loved the entertaining signs on the walls! I'm going with 4 stars, since my husband loved it. I plan to give it another shot on a better day. read more
